[[ It is delicious. It's this sugary, cinnamony mushy bread, and we only just realized it might be quite tasty toasted and buttered 8D

We've got twelve provinces in Holland, and Friesland is one of them.. they've got their own language and are quite determined to be from the Netherlands, not Holland XD Which is still the same country~

Kind of like Scots and Welsh that are different from the English, but part of the United Kingdom anyway. ]]

((THAT SOUNDS SO YUMMY emotion_kirakira

That's awesome though, I never knew that c: I suppose I would've figured it out eventually as I will ONE DAY VISIT HOLLAND DAMN IT. c': I'm kind of wanting to look up this language now... ))

[[ Please don't, it's a horrible language D: I don't like Dutch, but I dislike Friesian even more >_> If we ever were a bunch of dumb hicky farmers, it's in that language~

BUT DO COME 8D We can show you all of our little country in one day~ 8D Okay, we'd need a little bit more than one day, but it's close XD ]]

((Let me tell you a secret... you can't sound hicky to someone who can't speak or understand your language. It just sounds like this: "dafhdkjsal dhakjf dgjkfjkjdfshdfakfdghkjdsfjkgj c:" Which is cool. It's more of a musical experience than a language related one... Listening to the rhythm and tone. >.> ))

[[ Well, that's true I suppose XD Alright, so at least to my ears it sounds hicky and dumb~

Lol, we should so teach you some Dutch 8D Or link you some of our homegrown Dutch music XD

Dutch is becoming a lot less Dutch though, we've got tons and tons of English words integrated into everyday speech nowadays D: ]]

((I did a horrible clip of me speaking Dutch for Lavi for being a good little studier last semester c: LOL. Unfortunately for you (fortunately for me) I removed it off of tumblr after she heard it. >__>;; ))

[[ Psh, no fair D: It's so much fun to hear people trying to produce the r and g sounds XD ]]
PostPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:12 pm

((Yeah... have no idea how I did there... but I looked up things that had a person speaking so I could hear pronunciation because obviously... your phonetics are very different haha c': I was not even going to try to read it without that, though I'm sure it would have been hilarious to her. >.> ))

[[ Well, at least you're reading a bit out loud... Learning Dutch is a whole other ball game. We've got rules that aren't really rules but more like... feelings XD Like, our nouns can start with two different what we call 'lidwoorden'... it's the 'the' in English, but we use 'de' and 'het'. Which of the two a noun gets, doesn't follow ANY rules. We native speakers just know instinctively XD

Which is why I always take pity on people trying to learn it <3 It's a very sadistic language.]]

((That is pretty jacked up : D I've pretty much given up on learning any language that does not follow some kind of formula. That's why Japanese isn't too hard for me, because it's a matter of learning a structure then substituting words in where needed to get your point across. Kinda like an easy algebraic equation >_> But of course it has it's irritating exceptions and kanji is the worst thing ever created. Ever. :c ))

[[ Oh, I am very glad I already know it XD And English feels the same for me... I hardly know any of the official rules, I usually just know what kind of form to use.

Kanji, argh. It doesn't matter how often I try to learn them, they never stick D: Vocabulary is no problem, but kanji... Blegh.]]

((Yeah, English can be fairly structured when I think about it, though looking at English from an outsider point of view, if you don't start it early it seems like it would be difficult to learn. We can break all of our rules... all the time... Especially when it comes to writing literature. I'm continuously breaking rules. >__> Only time you can't break rules is if you're writing a term paper. ))

[[ Ah, that'll explain it, we all got started pretty early in our family, because my parents are pretty fluent themselves. I probably break tons of rules all the time unknowingly, but at least overall it sounds nice 8D

Edit: Be back in a little while, gonna watch me some Downton~ ]]

((Yeah... I wonder about it sometimes, because I imagine what it would be like to write a book in another language... and only really having Japanese to compare to, I wonder how many synonyms other languages have... I want to write a book in another language one day, and of course read a lot of books in other languages, but I'd want to understand the impact of choosing certain synonyms and things like that... :c

That's cool you guys started so early, though. ;~; I wish I had a reason to start a language as a youngster. I know bits and pieces of several languages, but Japanese is the one I know best... French is a close second, though I've forgotten most of French. As a Californian I also know an above average amount of Mexican-Spanish, but that's just from growing up here >>;; and we use those words as slang sometimes. LOL. Other than that, though... it's impossible to learn second languages besides Spanish fluently because we don't neighbor other countries that speak foreign languages to give us a closer experience. Most kids only chance of getting a second language here is if their parents are both bilingual and speak the language in the house with them. That... is not my parents c':

--Edit--

M'kay c: I'm... going to get dressed and head to a cafe with some internet to do some studying. ))
