Once she'd managed to hit him, she'd jumped back quickly just in case he tried to reciprocate the punch. There was a huge smile on her face at her success, but it was soon replaced with a frown when he didn't respond for a short amount of time. She briskly walked back up to him, getting very worried when he started to gasp for air. "Kanda? Are you okay?" It didn't take but a second for her to start feeling horrible about the punch, wishing she hadn't done it in the first place.
She listened quietly to him as he continued to teach her about fighting, staring up at him somewhat regretfully. She waited a few seconds for him to get his breath back before awkwardly resting her hand on his arm, careful to keep it away from his stomach. "I... didn't think I'd actually do anything... I'm sorry...," Kiah apologized, looking down to the ground again.

He smiled reassuringly and dropped his hand from his stomach, already feeling better. He lifted his hand to touch her arm in return, squeezing it a little to let her know he was being sincere. When she looked at the floor he leaned down a little, trying to see her face.
"Hey. I'm fine."

"If you're sure..." Once he'd recovered she calmed down, knowing that she really shouldn't feel so bad about it. Kiah looked back up at him when he squeezed her arm and nodded, believing his words.
"I know you are... but getting the wind knocked out of you still feels horrible," she said, shivering slightly at the thought. It had been awhile since she'd experienced the feeling, but she remembered how much she hated the short amount of time where it was impossible to get enough air in your lungs. Finally giving him a small smile in return, she asked, "So does that mean I win?"

He thought about it for a long moment, thinking about how he had never admitted defeat to anyone before. He had to admit her attempt had been admirable, and she had definitely caught him off his guard. He crosses his arms again and looked at her as he replied.
"...I guess that just this once, I can admit a small defeat."

"Only a small one? Come on, I had you almost doubled over!" Kiah scowled playfully and halfheartedly swung at his ribs, barely putting any force behind it this time, "Do I need to beat you up some more?" She knew she was pushing it a little, as she didn't think that he would ever admit defeat so easily.
