He didn't really understand what she said in response to the topic of the scars, and to him it almost sounded like she blamed herself for them in the first place. Of course there was no way for him to know what happened, but he highly doubted she would have done something like that to herself on purpose. It also sounded to him like she blamed herself for not being able to stop something else, not just her own scars. Now more than ever he wanted to know what had happened and what had caused her such pain and trouble. As much as he wanted to know though, he knew she didn't want to talk about it, perhaps for the same reason she had just stated: it brought up bad memories. As he brushed gently past her to lead the way back to the castle, he replied quietly but earnestly.
"It doesn't do well to dwell on the past and to continue to look through the lens of hindsight. In the end it will only cause more needless suffering for yourself."

Kiah frowned in thought at his words, staring off into the distance with a blank expression on her face. She was quiet and thoughtful as they walked back to the castle, still dabbing at any stray drops of blood on her arms. "Maybe you're right... but it's still hard to stop thinking about everything... No matter what you do," she answered finally, snapping out of her mini-trance. She sped up her pace so she was walking beside him again, as if she were trying to leave the mixed feelings of sadness and regret behind her.
"I could probably try a little harder, though," Kiah nodded to herself, smiling up at him after she'd made her declaration. It was amazing how he could make her feel better so easily.

He sighed a little because he knew what she said was true. No matter what, it was always difficult to forget some things. But he was trying his hardest to move forward and continue down a brighter path he had set for himself.
"I know. It helps if there is some kind of closure, but not everyone gets that opportunity."
He glanced at her as she sped up and fell in beside him, catching her smile from the corner of his eye. It caused his face to ease up into a smile too, and he looked forward again as they made their way to the front doors of the castle.
"I only want you to try so that you can be happier.."
He moved towards the door ahead of her so he could hold it open for her. After following her in he fell in line next to her as they continued to walk. He was quiet for a while until they came to an intersection of several hallways. He paused for a moment before speaking up.
"We can go to my room, we don't have to go to the infirmary just for this. I have some bandages we can use."

"Yes... that's very true...," Kiah agreed slowly, refusing to let her feeling get the best of her. The entire situation she'd been in screamed unfinished, but there really was no going back for her now that she was at the Order. Though honestly, she wouldn't have it any other way, even if it did seem like she'd been escaping again.
"And I will try to be happier, but you know... I'm already really happy. I don't know how much more you can take before I'll start getting annoying," she smiled teasingly, nudging his arm with her elbow.
Kiah was already moving toward the infirmary after they'd entered the castle when she'd realized he had paused, turning back and tilting her head in curiosity. "Oh... uh, okay! If you're sure!" She couldn't help but be surprised, as she'd never been invited anywhere near his room before.

"I just want to be certain of it."
He smiled as she nudged him, and gave a small nudge back.
"I don't think you'll ever be annoying to me. Count yourself lucky, because I don't normally find that to be true with people."
He continued to walk with her to his room, and when he got there he pulled a key from his pocket to unlock it. His room was spotless and had nothing in the way of personal items, aside from those Chaoe had begun to litter about here and there. He tried to keep her from creating too much clutter, and her plushes were at least contained to her bed, though her art supplies had found their way to the top of his dresser. Everything else was clean and neat, almost to the point of being cold. At the very least it seemed more lived-in compared to how it had been before. He stepped inside ahead of her and held the door for her again.
"You can sit on my bed," he gestured to it before moving to the top drawer of his dresser to retrieve some small bandages.

"Well, I do believe I should be honored... but you know what they say! There's a first time for everything!" Kiah didn't elaborate on what exactly she'd been referring to, letting him decide for himself as she gave him one last nudge back and skipped out of reach. She waited for him to open his door, taking in the hallway surrounding them for the moment and realizing that she hardly ever came that way.
Once he'd opened the door, Kiah delicately stepped into the room, surprised yet again to see an unofficial divide to the room in the form of art supplies, slowly creeping their way towards the neater side of the room. It didn't take her long to remember why it was, and she giggled to herself as she walked in further, "I'd forgotten that you had a roommate now." She was careful not to disturb anything around the room, slowly easing herself onto his bed after being instructed to do so. She hopped back up soon after, worried that she'd be getting blood on his sheets from the cuts on her leg. After checking to make sure Kiah straightened up, and stood waiting for him, giving him a small shrug when he turned back to her. "... I didn't want to get blood all over the place."
