The first thing Kiah was aware of when she started waking up the morning after Liv's party was a strange, yet comfortable warmth. It had been a long time since she had slept anywhere near another person, but she could still recognize the comforting presence of a heartbeat that wasn't her own. She was confused at first, so she slowly opened her eyes and blinked uncomprehendingly at the bookshelves situated around the library. Once she noticed that someone was resting their head against hers, however, everything started coming back to her. She tried not to shift any more than she probably already had, an embarrassed blush on her cheeks. She was much too groggy to jump away from the young man, and if Kanda could get a few extra minutes of sleep she might as well stay still.

In his sleep, Kanda had ended up slumping against Kiah more, part of his weight resting against her side. Apart from passing out from exhaustion, it was the most restful sleep he had in a long time. His slowed breathing and gentle heartbeat were filled with relaxation and contentment, and all through the night his hand had never left the comfort of hers, their fingers still laced neatly like the pieces of a puzzle. It took several minutes before he too began to stir, lifting his head and blinking his eyes open.
It took only an instant to remember where they had fallen asleep, but he never imagined they would be knocked out for the entire night. He had expected a nap, but as the sun streamed through the ornate glass windows of the library, his eyebrows furrowed from the bright light. Rubbing at his eyes, he wiped the sleep away and turned to look at Kiah, leaning down a little to see if she was asleep or awake.
"Kiah..." he shrugged his shoulder very gently, his voice barely above a whisper as he roused her.
