Oh yes, things just took a fairly horrible turn. She was wrong in thinking he couldn't father children at all but he wasn't about to correct her on that. His violet gaze moved down to the couch where he'd just engaged in his first experience with a woman and vomit curdled in his throat. In that moment he hated her. It was nothing more than a trap. "He's a Master Rune Mage. I don't really know how it works because I never learned. He just draws symbols and they do stuff." Shrugging nonchalantly.

"don't be so melodramatic. It's not a trap. I'd have asked you questions, you'd have gone home with an invite to come back. unfortunately, I underestimated your talents, which has led to this unfortunate little turn."
glancing at Gizdean, who vanished from sight back into the shadows.
"He has his own orders, and they have nothing to do with your father...at least for now. Mine are to find out how D'vinn's empire flourishes. and to do that, I have to know what his right hand is capable of, and how. you call him a Rune Mage. that he uses runes that make things happen. do you know where the energy comes from?"

She could read his mind, too? This just went even higher as a negative situation. He desperately wanted to get out of that place but knew it was probably smarter to just answer her questions as best he could. That sounded like a threat...though thinly veiled. "No, I told you that I never learned. I guess he uses his own or something? No one else can do them though so I wouldn't try." Why was she supposed to find out about the D'vinn empire? "It flourishes because Malik is a savvy businessman. He barters and deals and ends up richer in the end."

not reading his mind, just centuries of experience reading body language..though a little probing here and there wasn't bad.
"See, not so bad, is it. Is there a way around it? See, Gizdean has a mission that will involve going to D'vinn's home. nothing serious or violent, mind you. just information gathering, like me. only he's not working for the same person I am. But we'd prefer not to run into your father, if you get the meaning."

"No. The only way to combat the runes are to use the same type and only he knows them." Trying to think of something else that might actually work. 'Actually...I could go get whatever information you need. It won't alert him if a D'vinn or one of his own family cross the alarm border. I won't be questioned if I suddenly show up at the D'vinn's house, either. Just tell me what you need."

Well wasn't that just a surprise.
"Is that so. Are you scared that your father might not be able to handle Gizdean, or are you just trying to get a shot at deceiving me with false information? And I doubt what we're looking for is within your ability to gather."
a thoughtful look.
"Alright. I'll make you a bargain. I'll keep Gizdean from the D'vinn land directly. You can go get what I need to know first. if you do a good job, then I'll pass on Gizdean's information needs. if not, then Gizdean will be going and we'll just have to hope he doesn't run into your father. that sound fair enough to you?"

"Neither." His father was capable of tearing the plane to shreds if he so desired and Zykariel knew he could handle any magic these Tier'dal could throw at him. He had the ultimate weapon, the weapon no one else had except those in Andal. "You want to gather information without D'vinn knowing, I'm assuming. You aren't going to be able to do that if you don't use me. The minute you cross onto the D'vinn's land, they will be notified." But he gave a nod. "Just tell me what you need and give me the freedom to get it when I choose."

"Well of course. it's the nature of the information I don't think you can get. but lets try. and not at your leisure. we can't wait on your timing since for all I know you'd leave us waiting for years. I'll give you two weeks. the information that I need to find is how D'vinn carved out his empire. who are his enemies, who has he stepped on, how far it reaches, and how loyal those in it's reach are to him. All Tier'dal keep that kind of information close and secret. So I really don't see how your going to get it. But, here's your chance."
tracing a finger up along his arm.
"and if you do get it, I'll reward your effort."

"I'm pretty resourceful." She might not know it but he'd gotten exactly what he wanted. He had two weeks and could get the information at his own discretion. She wanted the sort of information needed to take Malik down. That worried him but he knew his father could protect Malik against anything that might occur. "Any chance you'll tell me why you need the information?"

"Because my Queen wants it. that's all any of us need to know. I'm not the orchestrator of this little outing. I was quite fine where I was. but this was asked, and when the Queen asks, you do what she wants if you know what's good for you."
sugar sweet smile again.
"Of course, a strapping young man like you, you could always come back home with me if you wanted. there's plenty of opportunity for resourceful young men."

But for what purpose? Handing out information that could bring an army to Lab wasn't his idea of a good time or smart move. Her Queen? He didn't really understand why his own plane would be so concerned with his dealings anyway. He was assuming she was from Norrath since her skin color was the same as Malik's. "I'd have to leave my title behind me. Where am I supposed to bring the information when I have it?"

Well...he was starting to have less and less fun. Personally he wanted to go home but instead of voicing such things he was focusing on some rather...strange feelings that were floating somewhat over bonds that were unguarded. He knew it was Zykariel...seeing as that was really the one child that he had a well established bond to from all the time they had spent together in the beginning. "I don't want to leave without Zykariel." He didn't care if her and Nadai were in the middle of talking, or if his son hated him. Zykariel was still his son and he was still his father and that meant looking out for the boy.

"Why you can bring it here. And you can get your reward while your at it. unless I can convince you to stay a night maybe? I'm sure my wizardess friend would love you make your acquaintance."
a small smile to him. he was definately looking uncomfortable, and would probably leave at first opportunity.

"Very well. I'll see once I have what you want." Picking up the rest of his clothes, quickly dressing, and then shooting her a lingering look over his shoulder before he left. Well, that was sufficiently awkward and not much fun. Maybe his next attempt should be with a less experienced woman. He might enjoy it a little more. He made his way back to the race grounds and discovered where his parents had gone off to then walked into the tavern, ignoring the cheers and hollers for his attention.
"He's usually off indulging in his own celebrations, Sevilin. Sometimes he doesn't even come home for a day or so after a race." Not that she liked that but there wasn't much she could do. Her baby boy was growing up far faster than she liked. But glancing up, she smiled. "Speak of the devil. There he is. Zykariel!"

"I know...I just...don't want to leave without him." He was trying not to be a downer on the mood but he couldn't help his worry. Seemed his was saved the chastising remark about letting the boy have his fun as the subject of his statements wandered in and duly over to their table. One look at the boy and he knew something was off. Reaching a hand up to take hold of the boy's chin and turn his head, he watched him a moment before letting go. "You look exhausted...maybe save the party antics for another night." Which wasn't true, but he wouldn't poke into the boy's life anymore than he was invited. That was just the way things the boy had declared them through many a nonverbal action.
