Heh, I think my name gives away what race I am. I've seen all three seasons of Slayers and a few OAV's, but all in English so it took me a few seconds to figure out the Japanese. sweatdrop
Anyway, Slayers is new to me since I've only discovered anime in the last few years when I decided to major in the Japanese Language (not fluent and lock up under pressure, please give me time), but my classmates where very animate about me seeing "The Golden Seven:" Inuyahsa, Slayers, Evangelion, Azumanga Daioh, Haibane Renmei, Trigun, and one of the Gundam, but forget which. I've seen all but two. And Slayers is definately in my top three. mrgreen

We may welcome you~ Shabby-San~ Not to mention... Neat and definitely fitting Avi. *nods*
Though it's nice to hear, that people who are quite new to anime are still recovering the series. Much too often we get to hear 'Slayers? What's that?' *sighs* Oh well. Though... **Golden Seven**...? Somehow we don't get that... oô Might that be some sort of indication for well-known series or something...? ...confusing...

I think it's just their collective consensus on 7 anime everyone should see. Although, sweatdrop I'm not big on Mecha. Hense, I haven't watched Gundam yet. Although, even though it didn't make their "Golden Seven" they also made me watch a million episodes of Ranma, which was really good actually.
Anyway, yeah, I guess Slayers is kind of old, so a lot of new commers don't get to see it. I think that's why they wanted me to see it so bad.

Hrm... Inu Yasha a 'Must see'...? confused I can't share this opinion... ^^; ~ After all the series is dragging like chewing gum without ever getting to an end. Heibane Renmei is quite good, but I think most people may think it's boring or evenlack story since it's not quite full of any action. Haven't seen Gundam or Azu myself though I agree with Slayers, EVA and Trigun... X3 Some Record of Lodoss War might've been nice though...
Jepp. Slayers isn't one of these newer series. But it's got its very own characteristics on which you'll ALWAYS can make it out. And it's one of those that where still completely drawn by hand heart Heh. Got one of the original-Cels here in my collection. Sure. The animation of those Animes can be a bit shaky at times, but you got to life with that. That's what makes them... lol... MORE SPECIAL!

Okay, I've been into anime for years now and this is the first I've heard of said "golden 7." From what I've heard from a LOT of people is to avoid some of those, like Eva and Inuyasha as they're overplayed and not really worth much. That's just my opinion though XD Oh and welcome <33
P.S. No offense is meant by this at all <333

Oh none taken. I don't think there's an official "Golden 7" I think it's just their thing, or their favorite seven. I don't think those anime are carved on stone tablets anywhere. xd Sorry for the confusion.

ZOMG!!!! ZETSUBO AND MERCURIAL WERE BOTH ON?!
EVA is surprisingly good. I loved it, and I'm not big into that kind of thing. Trigun is teh love, but Gundum? Inu? I'm not crazy about mech...and Inu is just repetitive now...which is kind of sad. Azumanga Daioh is hilarious. The manga is slightly better.
Haibane I haven't seen but have heard many good things of. And Slayers...well, that's obvious.
Anyway, there's no such thing as "The Golden 7"...because everybody's tastes run differently. Those may be their Golden 7, but not mine.
Ty: It may be inactive at different times. It's to keep the flood of users down. Some idiot keeps posting it here in the GCD and saying it's a Gaia Ripoff. Like Gaia created avatar forums. rolleyes

Nya. I also think everyone has his or her very own favorite series... It's just normal this way ;P
Hrm. I'll need to complete my DVD-collection as well... >~> ...I'm still somewhat stuck with the videos a friend of mine taped me YEARS ago from Next und Try... The first season I got already as DVD (...with having won one of them in a drawing-contest ^^; ) as well as the very old limited VHS XDDD Yes~... Good old times... ...yet I'm lacking three DVDs of Next and Try wasn't released her in germany yet. Though I'll take a look around at the Connichi. ^^ Maybe I'm able to get some of the movies there cheap at the Bring&Buy or something~ ;P
Heh. But I WAS quite surprised when I saw that my comic-dealer had two volumes of a new 'Slayers Special'-Series... oô Sure thing I bought them on the spot... I just wasn't able to read them yet~ domokun

Well. The series itself must've started sometimes around 1995... I myself wouldn't call that 'old' either, but considering the fast developement these days I'm pretty sure there's enough people that'd call it old.
Here in germany it got released I guess... 1998/1999 when the big Manga-hype was about to start and you'd only find few series in the little comic-shops apart from the main shopping-area of the town... oô ~ Heh. Back then it was still POSSIBLE to collect EVERY manga that popped up but today... Geeez... I personally can't see much in 90% of what's coming up now. Somehow it's all the same, nothing new and the series themselves somehow lack their very own style... confused
Sad thing. But well...
But I guess that's what's making series **old**... oô ~ They have their own style wich always makes them stick out. I mean... Slyers definitely has a very unique style. Starting with drawing-style, characters and even the plots themselves.
Same with Ranma for example. That too has it's very own style. Or Houshin Engi (...wouldn't call that *old* either... oô) Best example: Sailor Moon! Yay! Now THAT's a goldie to grow up with and that'll never be forgotten. Or Dragonball (...even though I HATE that series xd )
So what about Fushigi Yuugi, Magic Knight Rayearth, Record of Lodoss War, Seimaden, Kenshin, Ah! My Godess...
Dunno. Looking at what I used to buy and find in stores now... confused I'm missing something ^^ There's so many boring schoolboy-shonen ai and soap operas available... But rarely you can find something as unique as all the things I'd loved to read... ^^;
Guess I'm really getting old or something xd

Ty: I found out why: oli (the owner of the site) needed to stop the flood of users, seeing as someone was abusing the referral system. It's back up and running if you want to check it out. The link I posted on the previous page is via said referral system, but you can just google it to find the site's homepage.

Actually I watch a lot of old anime that no one has a clue on so Slayers really doesn't seem that old, plus as pathetic as this sounds...Sailor moon was the first series I watched that got me into anime, which was in 1996 with the first season.
Well my favorite new style anime would have to be Trinity blood since some parts of the parts reminds me of Trigun.
