"Fine." That was all he could say to the boy...what was there else to say? His son no longer cared for his opinon or perception on anything so why should he try to make it any more fancy that bear facts. "Sorry to distract you." From whatever the boy was doing. Running a hand back through his unusually short hair that he was still getting used to, he got himself up with a stretch and yawn, looking back to his son. "Better get downstairs for breakfast or Destyny will be upset with you for being late."

His tone wasn't awful but Zykariel didn't like the feeling he was being brushed off either. Narrowing his eyes, he watched his father and shook his head. Obviously being away hadn't made him one bit nicer, had it? He probably didn't even realize how worried and upset he'd been. "Yeah." Getting up, he pulled his boots back on and clomped out of the room and down to the stables to indeed feed Destyny and try to make her happy with him after neglecting her for four days.

Kelligrin settled into reverie against her chest, she was just stirring herself, though her back was killing her from leaning against the rungs of the chair all night long. What time was it? Why hadn't she settled Kelli back in his crib and went back to bed?

See? The boy was happy to be on his way and down to his horse. Getting himself changed for the day he wandered out of his room and into the nursery, or more pointedly to his wife. "You were with him all night weren't you? Why don't you go to our room and rest some more? I'll heat up something for breakfast and watch Kelligrin."

No answer required since her presence was his answer. "I'm not sure why..." Standing, she shifted the little elf in her arms and carefully laid him down in his crib, brushing her lips over his temple and watching him cuddle up with Rawr. "There's pancake mix in the fridge. Just drop it in the pan and flip it every few minutes or so." A light brush of lips over his cheek and she slowly made her way back to her bed, settling in with a contented sigh.

"GODS BE DAMNED!" Nursing his bleeding fingers, he glared at Destyny and threw his hands up in the air. "Fine. Be a b***h about it but don't expect me to feed you. Maybe Nadai will feel sorry for you or Jin will share. Not my problem, girl. I was busy and you were taken care of so don't even give me that." Turning on heel and preparing to stomp off when he was knocked to the ground by a stray hoof. He was going to kill that horse...he swore he was. Limping gingerly, he walked inside and swiped the rag from the sink, holding it against his bloody fingers as he plopped at the table and sulked.

"You're trusting me to cook, you must really be tired." Shaking his head but letting her head off and watching Kelligin a moment. If the boy got hungry he'd probably get a sippy cup of something today. Wandering downstairs to the kitchen he raised an eyebrow at his sulky son. Getting out pancake mix he chanced a glance over his shoulder to his son and noticed the blood. Walking over he took the boy's hand, pulling away the cloth and inspecting the wounds. Looks like she bit him. "Wash that up and I'll get something from your mother's pantry for it."

Bit him, kicked him, spit in his hair...that horse had done anything and everything to inform Zykariel that she was not happy with him. He glanced up at his father, pursing his lips in a pouting motion that he'd perfected as a child, and somberly limped over to the sink. Running the cuts under cool water, he listened for his father's return an d yelped when his bruised shin made contact with the cabinetry.

At least the woman labeled everything...if she didn't he probably wouldn't know what to get out. Grabbing the appropriate jar of slimy stuff he wandered back out just as the boy yelped. "Did she kick you too?" Just because his son didn't want anything to do with him anymore didn't mean he would stop being a parent. Unscrewing the jar, he swiped out a glob with his fingers and took the boy's hand again, applying the stuff lightly.

He nodded morosely and dropped his hand and the bloody rag to his side. "She's not really happy with me. She spit in my hair, too. And when I turned, she used her forelock to knock me to the ground." Yup, still sulky. She could starve for all he cared. He hissed as the stuff seeped into his cut and smoke began to rise. "Dad! That hurts..."

"Horses are flickle, as are women. Yours is both. If she's having a bad day, let her have her bad day." Besides...that annoying Nadai would be by soon enough and he could take care of everything. But he merely held tight to his son's wrist, moving on to bandaging his hand and fingers but in a way that he could still have movement. "Health always tastes bad or hurts. But you know your mother's stuff, it helps."

Being a teenager it was really embarrassing to cry but he couldn't help it. His nose was running and he used his arm to wipe it, sniffling covertly. "But we've got to race soon and missing a day of training isn't good for us." Sniffling some more before turning his head away so no tears were visible. It hurt, more than he could ever express. "She doesn't have anything for bruises though."

"She doesn't, but I know a trick. When I was younger, I used to use the phosphorus moss that's common in any underdark. You grind it up and burn it so it caramalizes a little so it's like a flexible sheet and then cool it in water. Put it on whatever and it numbs the area for a while." Trying to come off as unbabying as possible. His eldest didn't need personal care anymore, he'd said as much. "I'm sure Nadai can help you set her straight."

He knew something his mother didn't? That was interesting especially since his father usually stayed out of healing matters altogether. "That's nice." Rewiping his nose before watching his father closely and then dropping his head against his dad's chest and hanging there. How did you ask for something you needed so badly but were embarrassed to need in the first place?

He blinked stupidly a moment as his son rested against him in childish fashion. Sevilin wasn't stupid, he knew this stuff hurt, was probably affecting the boy more than he was letting on. He didn't understand why his son wanted comfort from him though. Maybe it was because he was just readily avaliable. He was a glutton for punishment he was sure and this was only going to make it hurt more since his son liked to push him away so much these days, but he'd do it anyway. Resting one hand on the boy's shoulder he threaded the fingers of his other hand into the boy's hair, scratching lightly in comforting manner.

Whether readily available, his mother was off in reverie, or the fact that his father had abandoned him for three days and he needed the confirmation of his presence, Zykariel did take Sevilin's comfort and was quite happy to do so. He never made a motion to pull into or away from an embrace but he never fully moved either. He knew he needed to apologize but those words were stuck in his throat and he shook his head. "I think I need a break from Destyny."

Thus fell in an awkward yet comfortable quiet. It was old and familiar from the boy...he used to do the same thing when he was younger. Flop against his father when he was upset and not say a word on things, merely letting them go as fate would dictate. Made it hurt moreso for Sevilin he supposed. Blinking, he looked down to the boy that he still had hold on. "A break? I thought you needed to stay on top of things for that race you want to win. It's what you've been constantly training for the past months."
