He stiffened lightly at that. “I think you turned out a very fine boy and will be just as fine a man when you do grow up. Despite your self induced short comings.” His son was being obstinate like his mother just because he could be because he thought it was going to get him somewhere. A shake of his head and he opened the door and headed out, pulling it closed and heading back downstairs to his wife. “He’s choosing to still be uncivil.”

She had the books spread and was going over the accounts, Kelligrin sitting on her knee and eating a cookie. His eyes were still large and luminous, those slight traces of the tears he'd so recently shed tracking lines down his cheeks. Seeing his father, he waved the cookie then lifted his fists and rubbed at his eyes tiredly. "I'm not surprised. Little b*****d..." Mumbling under her breath for a moment and then recording a few lines in the book. "Sevilin...did you get a raise and not tell me?"

“He gets it from you, actually.” Ruffling his son’s hair as he walked over at the cookie waving. Apparently Zahara went the easy route and soothed with food. Raise of an eyebrow however, “No I haven’t. I told you I was going to ask for one but I haven’t had once since Lyssie was born. Why?”

"Does not." She wasn't a b***h. Not ever. She handed her youngest over to his father and watched the baby drop his cookie then lay his head down on his father's shoulder. Poor baby still needed reverie and it was so hard to fall back into it once they'd been jolted out at that age. His mind would just have to push him back in. "Starting about a year ago, we've had a steady increase in our expendable funds. It's never very much but adding it all up it becomes a sizable amount of steel. If Malik isn't doing it...then who is?" Crossing her arms and watching him as if he was hiding something from her.

"Does too." Taking the baby and patting at his back even as the dropped cookie kicked up his need to clean a little but he resolved to leave it for later when his hands weren't full of baby. Holding Kelligrin in one arm he ran a hand through his own shortened hair with a look to his wife that read confusion. "Don't give me that look. I told you, I haven't gotten anything extra. Maybe we're just being thrify and you're just now paying attention to it."

Dropping the argument completely, she turned back to the books and gave them another frown. "Normally I would agree with you but there's something wrong here. We've actually been spending more than usual." Doing another few calculations and then frowning down at the result. "I wonder why we never noticed it before..." Where was the extra bit of steel coming from? "Malik gives you the same amount always, right? Does he count it out or just hand it to you?"

"I'm telling you, I've been getting the same amount I have since my last rise and nothing more." A look over to her then as he was still patting their son's back. "Are you doing the numbers right? Who knows what it could be...it's not a bad thing after all."

Frustrated both with his irritation and sudden unexplainable increases, she had to seriously concentrate to avoid snapping at him. "Fine. I believe you." Turning back to the inked columns and then slanting him a look worse than death. What exactly was he implying? "Maybe not. I know I'm not very good at math but last I checked spending more than our paycheck in steel means a negative balance."

He didn't like his mother's tone one little bit and he suddenly realized he didn't have his cookie anymore. Despite his father's attempts to soothe him, he started fussing and squirming.

And she was getting irritated again. "Why exactly are we spending so much money in the first place?" What could she possibly be buying that cost all of that? Despite the fact that they weren't in the red. "Look, we're all agitated and now is not the time to be looking at numbers." Jerking his head back to avoid being clocked by their youngest for a moment at his squriming. "We'll go back and look at everything and figure it out. I'm sure we're just overlooking something somewhere." Like maybe it was because Zykariel didn't need school things anymore or something.

"Because we have expenses, Sevilin! You have books you need to buy and I have spices and ingredients that I need for my potions. It never bothered you before!" Oh boy, now she was yelling. And she could just feel the anger welling up on the inside. Kelligrin was reacting to her own annoyance and fussing even louder. "But not now. It just doesn't make any sense!" Slapping books closed and piling them on top of each other before she sat down and crossed her arms. "You're mad because I hired him."

"We've always bought those things and we've always never spent so much as you are claiming in one go." Of course it bothered him now, they were going to have another baby and it was hard enough to take care of all thier kids and themselves and her horses as it was, seeing as they were both hellbent on not letting the D'vinns be too charitable. But patting at his son he tried his best to soothe him though he figured it wouldn't help much with Zahara all upset now. "Because you're stressing and you don't need to stress." Frowning at her then, "That's an entirely different issue. You know I plan for family things way in advance, but no one cna do that with you upset."

Nope, he sure wasn't going to calm down, not with bonds going like they were. His brother was upset, his mother was upset and his father was annoyed. It made for a very unhappy little elf. Sensitive to that, she attempted to calm down and shook her head. "We used a lot of resources attempting to find the girls, Sevilin." Saying it as quietly as possible then shaking her head and resting her hands on top of the books. "Well, neither do you. Everyone's bent on making me crazy today. Why does it bother you that I need help?"

Hm, good lie? He always had one of those. "Because it's all a lot at once in the ways of change and you do know how I feel about that." Of course he wasn't going to tell her the real reason...she'd call him silly for his thoughts and send him off with a pat on the head like a child. "I'll leave you to yourself, I'm going to go see if I can get Kelligrin down." Thusly wandering away from her and restraining mumbles about things as he headed upstairs. Oh yes the bonds were probably zinging about. At least the girls were being spared.

She wasn't sure if she believed him or not. He did leave rather quickly but he wasn't a big fighter either. So now she was puffy, upset, and confused. Not a good combo when it was all added up really. It was tempting to follow him and demand he help her figure things out but he was taking care of Kelligrin and their son came first. Thus, it was resting her cheek against the books and heaving a sigh.

He wasn't happy by any means at all. Squirming and fighting every step of the way, he shook his head and turned teary eyes to his father. "No! No! No!"

His household had seemed to go nuclear all at once...and continued so for the next week or so as he was preoccupied trying to figure out his wife's numbers that were making no sense. It was like numbers were randomly addedin, slipped under item labeling that couldn't be called cover because well...it was always at a time when such things were needed. And then there was his son's change in behavior and Nadai...he was about ready to throw that elf in a river tied to a large rock.

Nadai was perched on a rock, reading a chapter in a book and he was glancing to Zykariel to make sure he was doing the same. When the boy came home from school, which apparently was something of amazement to his mother, they would study a chapter of something and then it was on to race practice. "Alright, that's enough...let's break out the fun. Yes?"
