Rolled: 10 + 2 body = 12 “No problem,” Specterdust managed to get out before the big brown beast turned on her. Well, she got it’s attention now. Specterdust backed up slowly, keeping her eyes on it as it dislodged Kevin and set him flapping away wildly. He squawked indignantly, feathers all ruffled. Specterdust bared her teeth at brown behemoth, stamping her hoof sharply before charging the beast again. WC: 62 / 4,184

Hit Points: 4/7 || Magic Used: 0/0 ___________________ not charming 3+1=4 ugh They always went for the legs! Sweetpea made an indignant noise, but before she could retaliate the beast backed up. She huffed, hurt and angry, but she didn't dare make another move towards them. She knew if they could talk them down there was a much higher chance of any of them escaping alive. She listened to the others try to persuade them, some of them making very good points. Sweetpea struggled to think sensibly in the moment, though. "Can't you eat fish or something?" Her voice was short and snappy, even to her own ears, but in her defense she was in quite a bit of pain. Before this she'd lived a very cushy and calm life, so even her minor gashes felt horrible. These beasts were awful.

Hit Points: 7/7 || Magic Used: Adept: 1/2 ~charm~ ___________________ Indira panted around the gear, feeling a brief moment of relief that one captive was free. She positioned herself in front of him, but noticed a change in the tides of the battle. Two of the beasts had simply stopped, and were apparently willing to engage in conversation. In some ways that made her even more angry. That meant all of this tragedy had been entirely preventable. One beast still seemed interested in battle, but if two had bee swayed ... From around the gear, she attempted to espouse the virtue of not eating the species who had returned the bonecrushers. "Oou uoudn't eat oos. Oll toake oou where ere's ots uf ings oou can eat." In the moment, she hadn't thought to put the gear down. Perhaps to the determent of her attempt ...

Some of the beasts had stopped in their tracks, but there was another right next to Cat, who either hadn't heard her plea or was too frustrated by the barrage of attacks to do much of anything. And behind her - she didn't want to turn and look, lest it detract from what she was saying - something was going on with that door.

The Waterfall Russet Fawn manages to switch the gear around without any issues, concentrating effortlessly at her task at hand. When Tall Tale peeks into the darkness, he can clearly spot two more Bone Crushers and 5 additional noulicorns. A glimmer of pale cream gives him the sense that at least one of those noulicorns is Bright Heart, but he can’t recognize anyone else before the door shuts. The spotted and solid grey beasts turn to one another, ears pinned back and twin looks of confusion on their faces. “The hunger is pain,” says the solid grey. “But you morsels fight so hard.” “We thought saving a few for later would help,” the spotted one muttered, flashing teeth. “But it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Maybe we can listen…” The brown beast snarls and whips its head towards them,” You’re both fools!” Specterdust charged into the beast before it could say anything else. Small but mighty, she manages to force it off balance and send it toppling into the water. It snaps uselessly at her as it falls, but misses with every attempted strike. Brown beast takes 1 damage! The solid grey beast frowns and steps away from its comrade. “Let our pack mates out of the den and we’ll talk. If… there is a way to stop the hunger… we will leave you morsels be.” “There isn’t!” the brown one roared. “My belly screams at me! We should have eaten the others too.” Solid Grey HP: 6/7 Spotted HP: 7/7 Brown HP: 5/7 Quote: The brown beast can’t be charmed! It looks like you’ll have to take him down in order to properly negotiate with the bone crushers. Fortunately, grey and spotty seem to have lost their interest in fighting all together. Battle the Beasties With 2d6 + BODY or throw some magic at them with 2d6 + WIT! (magic in battle will always result in at least a partial success)

Indira watched it try to convince the other two, who didn't seem to be interested in committing murder right this second. In confines as close as these, Indira was sure that even one beast fighting was significantly too many, if they didn't wasn't to sustain any more casualties. She hoped the others in the cave weren't actively being eaten, but at the moment there was nothing she could do to prevent that other than putting this brown monster down. Indira lowered her head and ran at the brown beast, intending to skewer it on her horn. In that moment she pushed everything else out of her mind, and just concentrated on the perfect angle, trying to do the most damage.

Havoc used the moment to catch his breath, and thought maybe they might really be able to end the fight. But no, the brown one was quite enraged and the little gray doe smacking it around definitely was making him even more angry! It looked like there was no talking to them until they got them ALL to calm themselves. He eyed the other two, but they seemed ok with just standing there and not helping their comrade. Maybe they were smarter than he initially guessed. Calling on reserves from who even knew where, Havoc launched himself at the flailing brown beast.

Hit Points: 7/7 || Magic Used: 1/2 Time to fight!___________________ As much as she hated conflict, she often left that to everyone else while she tended her gardens. But it seemed that she was needing to get her hooves a little dirty this time. She glanced back at Talltale whom had the magic gear in paw. She stepped over towards the brown Bone Crusher. She pranced a little before saying something. "Will you use your head for something other than keeping your ears apart?" Turning a little too quickly to raise her hind hooves and drive them towards the brown beast's head. Hoping to knock some sense into its head. Perhaps rattle around whatever was in there at the same time. As it was, Talltale had bailed from Fawn's back and sat near the door still clutching the gear to his chest fluff. This was not his cup of tea...

And although she was certainly not a fighter, Cinder had to acknowledge that any effort was better than sitting off to the side. To think that she couldn't help at all would be unproductive, and they had no choice but to subdue this brown beastie. She charged in and reared up to box him with her front legs.

___________________ The negotiation was going well as Nereida witnessed two of the beasts shrinking down not wanting to fight. All the charming going on enticed them to listen and possibly get the others on the other side to cooperate with the rescue party. This calmed Nereida giving her hope there was a silver lining to this charade of untitled madness. Then her keen ears swived capturing the aggression painfully uttering from the brown predator. Its eyes flashed in a frenzy as its guttural growl filled with rage. Turning back to see Russet Fawn had the gear figured out she focused her attention on the beast.
Nereida realized she would have to fight this creature along with the others if there was any shimmering hope expected to calm these creatures. Swallowing heavily Nereida swung her head, her scattered mane flowing in motion with her. Rearing up she chose to come down on the beast's shoulder hoping it would subdue its thought to pull itself out of this fight. The last thing Nereida wanted was to injure this creature when it didn't comprehend the reason of its existence once more.
Hopefully, this creature could gain some common sense and see they weren't the enemy?Nereida WC: 201

She charged the brown beast, hooves raised to try and slam down on any part of the flesh she could, she had had ENOUGH "NOW LISTEN HERE YOU..YOU.....THING" she bleated out, a rather pathetic sound but she was trying to be brave as other nouls fought back against the stubborn creature

Hit Points: 6/7 || Magic Used: Apprentice: 1/1 talking through the door___________________ That brown beast didn't look convinced at all, but fortunately Cattleya was not alone. She winced a little as everyone came down upon it, but ultimately it'd convinced the other beast, too. Besides, sometimes this was what noulicorns needed to do. True, perhaps nouls shouldn't be using their gifts to resurrect themselves. They had the right to make a life here like any other resident of Vykeli, though. The beast looked like it was well in hand, so she nodded to Specterdust and turned back to the door with a few neat steps. "I know you can hear me," she said, raising her voice a little. She didn't quite know how many beings lay beyond this door, but it was worth asking these beasts to stand down, too. "We may look tasty to you, but you're outnumbered right now, and you need us. We have magic and an entire society behind us, while right now, all you've got is this little pack. We're the ones who can change that for you."

She was afraid of making her leg worse, and there were so many nouls it seemed like the beast would certainly be beaten to a pulp regardless. She didn't really feel any sympathy right now, but she might later. She focused her attention on the door and the beasts that they said were on the other side. Another doe did the same, and Sweetpea listened to the way she tried to negotiate. "Our ascendeds were the ones who raised you," she reiterated. "You owe them your entire existence, and they can help you get through this hunger. They have so much power, they can help you. Please just give us time."

The Waterfall Indira slammed into the beast with full force, catching it off guard and gouging her horn into its side. Before it could react Specterdust rushed in, whipping around and snapping her hind hooves into its face. It’s jaw clacked shut, but the bone crusher swiped with its massive paws, slashing at Specterdust’s leg. (Spectedust takes 1 damage) Havoc flailed toward the beast, causing confusion to whip across its face. With bared teeth it snapped at Havoc, catching his shoulder with long, sharp teeth. (Havoc takes 1 damage) Russet Fawn swooped in with another vicious kick to the beast’s head! It snarled, shaking its head wildly to clear its vision, then sprang forward after Fawn, sinking its teeth into her hock! (Fawn takes 1 damage) Its grip didn’t last long as Cinder reared up and slammed her hooves into it. The beast dropped Fawn’s leg and whirled around to retaliate against its attack, swiping out with its hoof-claws. (Cinder takes 1 damage) Nereida regretfully approached the distracted beast’s side and shoved her hooves into its shoulder, forcing it off-balance. As it dropped, it twisted its long snout and snapped at her legs. (Nereida takes 1 damage) Owlheart charged toward it with raised hooves, and the beast was simply too tired to retaliate anymore. Exhausted, outnumbered, and injured, the beast collapsed in the rocks, its head just high enough to keep its nose above water. It let out a long, slow, exhale, eyes shifting from noul to noul, and growled,” Fine.” Lady Cattleya and Sweetpea approached the door and offered some kind words to the beasts behind it. A few muttered grunts and growls could be heard, the two remaining beasts speaking to each other. Finally, one approached the door and said with a raised voice. “We still have some of your lot in here. We won’t hurt them anymore if you give us a solution to our hunger.” “Yeah!” said the second. “We’re not coming out! Not yet! And if you try to come in, we’ll eat the rest of your friends.” The grey beast and the spotted beast turned to each other and nodded, as if this was a perfectly acceptable compromise. Quote: The brown bone crusher has been defeated! It seems like the nouls inside the cave are safe… for now. You can choose to open the door, but you’ll most certainly have to fight the beast and you may be putting the other survivors in danger! OR You can try to come up with a solution for the beasts! You’ll have to roll 2d6 + CHARM to convince them, but this a group roll! 3 full successes mean they’ll agree to the plan! 6 partial successes could also convince them! 3 failures, though… someone might get hurt… You can choose NOT to roll for this round and instead help the other noulicorns brainstorm options!
