Couldn't lie in this retelling of the epic struggle of two against the shadowy history of Hyrule's wildlands; the reaction of her arm and the wall would hurt--it burned her a fair bit to reach through it--but after a little perseverance there would be a numbing sensation that tore through her being. On the other side: lump, knot--this part was harder--what was this??--velvety texture... A shoulder!

A scream. Clattering and the instant scattering of shards of porcelain all over the place. A butler and maid muttered to each other as the clamour died down a little.

"Are you alright, mistress? Is it safe?" asked Melzig from their side of the wall. The other side, of course, was a hall somewhere in the east wing of the castle. This was where the royal guests were entertained until it was time for their audience with the king--well, suppose it wasn't a matter of course after all, being that this was completely out of sorts with what should in their hallway. Mind you it was cut off, so it made perfect sense now that this was an intruding structure.

The sheika grit her teeth against the pain, however, as long as it wasn't warning of the complete destruction of her arm, she would press on. Apparently she startled someone. She rolled her eyes. This certainly wasn't the first time, either. A story for another time.

She drew her arm back and inspected it for lingering damage. She tested her fingers for flexibility and answered Melzig, who had been standing by. She motioned for him to come closer, believing that was in his power. She'd rescue him if it was otherwise.

"I'll survive. I think we can transverse it." Her golden eyes glanced back to him. "I'm going through. Are you coming along?"

"R-Right!" Melzig steel'd himself with a gulp and crouched down. His legs seemed to tremble... Were they revving up!? With something like a roar, the apprentice hurled himself at the wall, finding that he would regret all the momentum; the wall's strange magic affected his skin so much that he was quite convinced it had all fallen off in one lightning-fast peel--which is to say nothing of the collision with the man on the other side.

"Oohh...!" poor butlers coo'd and moaned and rubbed their heads on the ceiling-floor.

And, with that, into the transitioning wall that was not solid enough to keep people out. In she went, and though she felt everything that the apprentice did, and launched through at the same time, if not a little bit before, and so they tumbled through together.

The landing wasn't as graceful as she would have liked.

But... it was a landing and she didn't accidentally hurl them through an alternate dimension and time that didn't support their bodies within space. She was breathing of relief as she pulled herself slowly upright and moved to help the apprentice to his feet.

"Alright... let's see where we are..." And from there, figure out where next to go.

Later, after everyone was stitched up, the rest of the entourage faded away,
promising with an invisible, unspoken, but nonetheless powerfully binding and yet casual promise to reconvene under another sun--Autum, hm?--and put the roof to the best use it possibly could have been.

"Surprised it's working this well," injected Sato, sidling up to the prince with a brat in what looked like a misshapen, white catcher's mitt. "Your star power saved the day." His bites were as big as his voice. Katsuro shrugged; he spotted twins across the pool and raised his can.

There's such a fooled heart
In search of new dreams, a love that will last.
I'll place the moon within your heart.

The dreaded event began.... the pool. For the first time in the longest time, or rather, for the first time that she could remember, she was anxiously nervous about her appearance. She had been almost comfortable wearing the swimsuit underneath her clothes, but now that the field events were over, she knew that she would stand out more than she wished if she didn't also venture out in a swimsuit. She swallowed and forced herself to look at her reflection.

She was also an athlete, and one who took pride in the functionality of her body, if not the appearance of it. But if one took good care of their body, the natural side effect was that she would look good, healthy, and well. These were attractive traits. She did not often venture into the sun when she could avoid it. Her skin, as she was led to understand, was a pleasant shade. But now looking at her appearance from the mirror's reflection and actively considering how it might be seen to a man....

Her eyes flicked across the bruises on her arms and legs, that she earned from fighting Kyosuke. However, they were slight, and her forearms and hands had toughened because of the many years of sparring, practicing, and beating targets. The bruises were softer, and if one wasn't looking, they wouldn't be found, but she was very aware of them.

She bit her lip and her face colored in a blush. She doubted her beauty and appearance. She had no skills concerning maintaining her beauty. She hid her face. She was actually considering going out there, to be seen by the whole school, like this!

No, cold logic intervened. I will be seen by him. If I am to wage war against the mermaid, then I must allow myself to be seen, to let it be known that I am worthy.

She lowered her hands and began to rub her arms. Yes, she was worthy. She leveled her steely gaze to the ones opposite her in the mirror. She lifted her hands up to her hair and pulled out the tie that held most of it up and off of her neck and back. The soft tresses fell about her head, surprisingly light now that they had been allowed to dry in the air.

She watched her reflection comb back these tresses. She felt more confident as she focused on those eyes. She was in control. She was going to make it clear to everyone here that she belonged. This was her world. There would not be any among them who would traumatize her further. Katsuro-senpai. That was her goal.

So, in this spirit, she smiled with a confidence rarely seen outside of the ring. She turned from the mirror. She made her way to the doors. She set a towel on her arm. She pushed the doors open.

Tsuki joined the party.

Hideaki Katsuro:

The Prodigy

"I don't know, I feel like--" the prodigy lost his voice; those around were similarly cut off as they looked to see. Strangely, they didn't whoop or catcall the poor self-conscious girl. They all seemed to be caught in some eerie beam of light--moonlight, why not--and couldn't move, think...

One of the boys--poor guy, good guy, couldn't help but have a little nosebleed whenever a pretty girl was present--was about to spring off the diving board. When he hit the floor, badda-bing! Nose-gush. Poor, poor, French foreign exchange student, Yvette...

When she hit, she was met with a goopy substrate. The comical flopping was enough to send the school body gathered there on the roof into a frenzy. There was shouting, shoving, running... away.

As it turned out, the reflectivity of the yandere's sun-starved skin was a bit much, and in the disoriented confusion there was not a one direction to be agreed on but away from the source of that blinding light. Katsuro and the others ducked for cover near a soda machine, only to be swept out by the tide of faceless students.

Tsuki wasn't quite sure the reaction that she was supposed to get, but in the wake of the day, and seeing how the general student body did react, she supposed there was nothing to it but to accept it for what it was. Besides this, she was of the opinion that it was much better to be feared than fawned over. (True in all cases, save one.) And so when there seemed to be general disarray at her presence instead of staring, she accepted it. It must have been a bonus that she was much more acquainted with fear in others than with adoration. It would make this much easier.

She managed to retain control and confidence over her expression, however, seeing even Senpai caught up in the hullabaloo and the confused tumult did cause her face to gain some color, a hint of redness that she could not have noticed without a mirror. If this was the reaction of the student body, then it was possible that her body wasn't her biggest selling point. A shame, in some way, as it hinted at the possibility that she wasn't beautiful. On the other hand, did that matter in the face of true love? She hoped not.

I will make him happy, she reminded herself coolly as she crossed the distance to Katsuro. This thought did much to center her thoughts and calm the fleeting and transient anxieties and replace them with much happier things. It was strange, then, that the closer she got, the emptier her mind became. Words excused themselves and were then replaced only by feelings. Impressions. When she got close to him, what would she say?!

She adjusted the towel on her arm, doing this to avoid allowing her newfound nervousness to show, and she altered her course slightly. She could speak later. Today, she would be satisfied just to be near him.

For the longest minute in history, the crowd swarmed out and into the halls. Somewhere along the line, poor Hideaki was dropped. Sato was too separated by the flow of the mobbing panic to do anything about it. Of course, the shippers would run with the image of two bishonen reaching out for one another, only to be pried apart by the cold hands of fate, two stars repelled by their own magnificent gravity--

... Right. After a near miss, the both of them were left absolutely alone out there in the short corridor that led to the swimming area.

"Tsu---Tsuki-san?" Said the prodigy with backup-blinks.

About this time, down at the base of the mountain of media drama, one man, fitted with little more than a badge, a gun that did not shoot grappling hooks, and guile. Steve Johnson, American, was about to make his ascent on Montoya!

Like a good detective, he went to his first group of students and tried to be cool, be unassuming...

      He ended up quoting memes.

When that didn't work, he found the first fish he could and... "Excuse me, miss... Have you seen anything... Unusual?"

Tsuki was, like most folks who were swept off guard a bit by things that happened around them, a little disoriented, if but for a moment. Alone in the hallway, she knew that her skin was still exposed, but she at least had something in her hands. Having anything to grip helped her to center her nerves. Her aggressive energy had been earlier spent, and what was left behind was determination still to keep true to her goal.

She would merely have to adjust her tactic to see where they took-

The sound of her name from his voice silenced all thoughts and excused concerns in the same fell swoop. She turned and saw him. They were alone now, in this space. She could not feel the ground beneath her feet as she approached him. The slightest smile was on her face, the blush deepened, and her eyes focused on his, as though she would drown in the crystalline blue.

"Katsuro-senpai..."

There was something so heavenly about him, even his confused surprise was a panacea for the foolish and buzzy thoughts and concerns that sought to build a hive in her skull.

In his eyes, there was only the sky. In his heart beat more than man, more than mythos could describe by heroic actions. He was power, he was vigor. He was passion.

She reached for his face, still somewhere in her trance, as she drifted toward the gravity of his presence. Was she walking?

Elsewhere, with the students giggling and carrying on, some of them drying off from their mass self-expulsion from the pool and spilling into the school halls. There was still a lot of talking, shippers were shipping, bloggers were already plotting their next blurbs about the crazed popular antics of Montoya, and one of the fish had been singled out by the detective.

Painted quite well, and pleased that the paint held up in water as had been promised, she was a little surprised to have been singled out.

Well, not one to waste a chance to show off, she turned and posed as she sauntered closer to the detective. Fish lips at the ready, she leaned closer to him.

"Lots of unusual things." She winked a large eye, colored by a neon-pink contact lens. Americans were kind of cute. "I'm unusual."

"... So I see," Steve Johnson,
caught between arousal and disgust, found he had not found his peace and that his mind was actually quite dim. Would it be a bad time to bring up the well-hidden fact that Officer Johnson--cadillac of cops, superior policeman pounder of pavement, beat-cop to beat them all--had a thing for roleplays? Costumes,
scenarios, the whole sexy enchilada!

"I'm looking for information on a couple of nights ago--witness reported seeing teenagers breaking into the old academy." The policeman shifted a bit on his feet and adjusted his gun. Warm out.

The officer seemed to be all about business, but that didn't mean that the student in costume needed to be. He seemed a little uncomfortable on his feet. The student shrugged and clasped her hands behind her, quite aware that it emphasized her front and how lightly adorned it was in the swimwear she chose to accent the skin-paint. She glanced around, a little curious to see if any of the sea-men happened to be looking her way. If they were, she was ready.

"Old academy...." She said quietly, as though she was thinking about it or giving proper thought to such a deep question. She might not have had the depth, but she knew enough about social etiquette to be better prepared. One didn't deny answering a police officer while he was in the course of his duty. Investigating a break in...

"I remember that there was a ghost sighted at Montoya," she offered. "I don't know if there were any teenagers, and the picture was rather blurred... but they caught a picture of the ghost!"

She turned and hailed a fellow student. "Ai-chan! Do you have a copy of the newspaper?"

"No!" The student she hailed, also in costume, was fussing over her outfit, which appeared to be much skimpier than she was used to, even for a two-piece costume. Her blush was hidden in the paint and she tried to hide behind someone else, a male student who seemed rather clam about being used for cover. Probably a brother. "There are extra prints in the library."

"Right..." Steve Johnson, flapping his shirt absently, bounced between the two there once or twice before straightening up. "Stay dry." With something of a hurried nod, and perhaps self-cursing under his breath, the beat cop made quick for the library, pushing past wave after wave of ocean-dwelling students in the foregrounds and the main landing.

Half-illuminated by the sun, Hideaki Katsuro was armored like a knight in ceremonial regalia to his own namesake. But, no matter how polished and delicate the armor, the fact that it was worn was some hint at danger. Hideaki found himself scooting back ever so slightly, now somewhat unnerved by the look in Tsuki's eyes.

Tsuki felt her steps slow. Her hands, inches from his face, now hovered without touching him. She hesitated as he withdrew, as he did not look at her familiarly... or even warmly. Was this the wrong time? She felt an unnerved energy spark across her shoulders just at the top of her spine.

"Katsuro-san..." She pulled her hands back, away from his face, and she reached instead for his hands. How brilliant he looked in this light. How strong his appearance and stature. She needed him to know. She wanted him to know.

"I love you." She focused on his eyes and felt her heart shift at an odd angle as she asked... no... as she began to plead. "Can we start seeing each other?"

Melzig puled himself up to standing, thanking his lucky stars the two of the hadn't landed in the castle's smithy. A quick scan would reveal the two had appeared in another hallway somewhere near the library. The hallways leading to the connecting path, however, weren't so straightforward.

"Mistress... I suddenly don't feel well." Out in front of them was a giant cube (the floor in front of them seemed to feed into this), continually rotating and shifting, interlocking and adjusting, so that at any given moment there could be before them a wall, a pieced of courtyard, a random corridor... It was really quite something. Each change seemed to average six seconds or so.
