{ ATE : Fighting Corruption with Corruption : 30 }
{ Louis : Metaphysical Plane : Corruption's Abyss }

[[Cue: Dark Fusion vs Millennium Judgement]]

Louis watched as the closest Demon charged him. Attacking so straight forward gave Louis plenty of time to react. Before the demon even reached him, he leaned back, arching his body in a reverse "C." then brought both hands together before slamming them both down coated in darkness releasing a shock wave outward from the impact point, with hopefully enough power to send the flying demon back down to collide with the other.

Louis then vanished into another portal. He was gone for a good 3-4 seconds before suddenly out of the center of the dispersing gravity spell the Vangaurd returned flipping at tremendous speeds flying right at the one blocking his second sight. The portal vanished as well allowing Louis to pass through and put all his built momentum from his time falling in the background towards his own gravity spell into one single drop kick on the demon's skull, once more empowered with his internal flow of darkness. Only this time, on impact the boy felt a painful snap in his shin as he followed through.

Louis cried out, but bit down and had to tear his jaw open to let out a vicious battle cry. Louis flipped around as he fell, summoned a single demi spell, held it his hand until with a jerk of his entire body, the demi grew in intensity, only noticeable through a sixth sense than anything revealing it to no longer be demi, but a demira(or gravira).

The arcane knight launched the spell into the closest demon still in flight, the spell carrying it to the ground with the others before detonating, and warping the air around it, like a whirlpool of space into a singular point.

The space then after imploding a few moments exploded in a spinning sphere. Louis' rapier returned to his hand and with it all the rifts let loose their firepower, firing countless of small explosive dark charges out of their closing gapes where they flowed towards the central mass. As they impacted and exploded within, noticeable by tiny glimmers that quickly vanished, the main body grew larger and its pull stronger.

Louis fell towards the mass but continued to warp back away, but his speed continued to exponentially increase as time went on until his form became nothing but a single long blur into another.

Then, the entire mass grew pure black, like a black marble sheen, then shattered, with it an ear shattering boom.

Then, regardless of the states of the demons, in a speed too quick to describe short of teleportation, a sonic boom shook the arena just as Louis seemingly appeared in mid air, inches above Ultima, his swords in both hands pointed down, with all his might pressed against that single point of his fine tipped blade. Again, a split second later, that which might seem like an eternity for the Vangaurd, another after image caught up with him, with it another boom, cracking over the abyss. Finally, the third and final after image caught up, this time bringing with it all the darkness trailing behind him like a delayed explosion of a warhead. The explosion was silent at first expanding out like a black wave, disintegrating everything on the platform aside from the platform itself, wiping the throne away as if it were dust, then sucking back in to the center to release the crack of a lightning bolt's last cry.

The final result sent Louis flying away and dragging along the floor like a crashed meteor in the opposite direction he'd come down, leaving no crater, only a long drawn out smear of blood.

{ Cue : König Der Unterwelt - [Fate of Sixty Years] - C-CLAYS }

The immediate counter-attack via shockwave of Darkness was able to send the Daemon back down into the ground, though due to the attacks properties, he was able to land with relative ease. The demon it had been sent to, realizing what was going on, ceased his production of Dark spheres, instead calling them back and reabsorbing them.

The attack on the flying Archaeodaemon seemed much more effective. While the initial dropkick (once again, powered by Darkness...) seemed to barely faze the creature due to its position as already being curled up into a ball (hence the snapping of Louis' shin), the actual Gravira spell was powerful enough to pull him down to the ground, keeping him locked in place as the rest of the attacks went on. The other two demons were also sucked into the large gravity spell, much as if it were a Magnet spell. As a result, all three were caught in the massive blast that took place.

Louis' assault on the barrier, however, was not nearly as effective; on the contrary, nothing seemed to have happened at all. Ultima remained sitting their, watching the events transpire, a half-interested smile playing about her lips as magic energies erupted around the entire platform. When all was said and done... she had been entirely unharmed due to the barrier. Glancing at Louis' broken body opposite her, leaning against a glyph that blocked the hole in the railing, Ultima darkly chuckled.

"Poor, prideful child," she mused. Some rustling could be heard on either side of the arena; two of the Archaeodaemons stirred, having been shot towards the railing by the previous explosions. They appeared unharmed, but by that point, it would have been pretty clear that they were not beings of flesh and bone, so harm would not have been visible anyway. The third demon had apparently been destroyed.

"Hoping to stop your little friend's corruption by Darkness, you come into my sanctuary of Darkness, and fight creations of Darkness incarnate..." she began, sounding at the very least somewhat-amused. The two demons slowly stood up, rolling back their massive shoulders and crossing their arms again. "And as your weapon, you choose the Darkness..."

This time, the woman laughed. It was a cold, degrading laugh, and her violet eyes seemed to gleam brighter, despite the light around them remaining as dim as ever. There seemed to be other motion surrounding Louis; the walls of the abyssal cavern were moving, expanding, twisting..."Would you stop a fire by spreading it? Or dry the oceans by increasing their volume?"

"I suppose I should not be surprised by your foolishness... without Mateus, you are useless. Perhaps it is not entirely your fault, though. After all...," she said after a brief sigh; it seemed as if she was disappointed. If she was, it was only because the fight had ended so soon. "You are mortal. You know not these games of divinity that you have stumbled upon... Check."

With that final, cryptic word, the third Archaeodaemon made its reappearance, slowly drifting down to ground level while still curled up into a ball; its wings had remained flapping, but made no noise. The demon was now visibly crackling with mass amounts of crimson energy. It sharply lifted its head to glare at Louis in front of him, and less than a moment later, his entire body opened up, his arms and legs stretched out as he released the pent up energy in a single, demonic shout.

Non-elemental energy, colored like crimson lightning exploded outward as the Gigaflare was unleashed, ravaging the entire platform much as Louis' previous spell had. It swirled violently around, like a savage tornado made from electricity. One of the demons on the side of the platform was wrought to dust, disintegrated by the releasing of the charged-up magic; his dark residue was absorbed by the one on the opposite side of the platform, though it was impossible to tell due to the attack still going on. When the chaos ended, there were only two demons left; the one in the center was on one knee, a fist on the ground in order to keep it up. The other merely began to walk over to the center, facing Louis.

Louis stood halfway up when the lightning blasts struck him back down, flipping him backwards onto his stomach, his body quivering afterwards as he tried to regain muscle control. Louis struggled sit up, let alone stand, he pushed up with one unsteady arm and looked past the demon at Ultima. His absolute hate burning in his eyes.

As Louis gritted his teeth, he managed to push up and slip a knee up under himself, "One way or another, you're leaving this girl!" He repeated again his words from before the fight began. Louis took a labored breath before forcing his leg up and standing, summoning his rapier once more and throwing it at the damaged demon's head with no magical aid, as Louis had no more to spare.

Immediately, Louis dropped to one knee again, his breathing still not caught up to his fatigue, "You...will not... have... your way."

The weakly tossed rapier embedded itself in the Archaeodaemon's forehead, and as a result, it began to disintegrate into Darkness. The standing demon, though perpetually scowling, seemed disappointed by this, though it managed to absorb some of the Dark residue left behind, healing itself yet again. Ultima merely released a single, callous laugh.

"Deluded hume... what exactly do you think I want?" she asked, smirking at the young man. The Archaeodaemon pulled back its two hands on one side, leaving some space between the two as he begun to focus non-elemental energy in between them, which took the form of a crimson sphere. "You speak as if you know my intentions, but everything you have done since you arrived has only suggested you know absolutely nothing about me. How can you stop something you know nothing about?"

[[Cue: Sacrifice]]

Louis coughed fiercely as all the darkness backed up in his system like a tumor buried deep in his chest. He ignored Ultima, watching the red energy grow in front of him. He knew he needed to do something. He knew at this point taking on Ultima after taking down these monsters would be impossible. There was no way out. No way back. No options left.

With a pained grunt Louis stood up once more, slamming each foot down with purpose, regretting he had with the one that felt broken, "I don't need to understand you to stop you," with that Louis called his rapier back to him, holding it out as straight as he could. The result was nothing short of pitiful as the blade shook in his unsteady grip. Louis nearly broke down into laughter but pulled himself together and glared at the demon and awaited its attack, "Come on! Let's see what the legendary Ultima can really do!"

Ultima's only response was a sadistic chuckle from upon her throne, her violet eyes dancing upon Louis' beaten figure.

The Archaeodaemon had continued to charge through Louis' irrelevant words; energy from the entire area began to swirl around the sphere, being pulled into it, coagulating into a strange, multicolored orb of energy (though all shades were darkened). At the Avatar's challenge, however, it all stopped.

The sphere was launched, not at Louis, but into the air. After it was about 30 feet in the air, it exploded outward into three identical spheres, which each then exploded outward into four identical spheres. All 12 spheres condensed in a glimmer of light... and then rocketed toward Louis, one by one in rapid succession, like machine gun fire, each with explosive might. Where he moved, the 'bullets' would not only follow, but trail ahead enough to cut him off.

In the midst of all this, the demon ran forth, attempting to grab Louis by the face and crush him against the glyph wall behind him.

{ Louis : Metaphysical Plane : Corruption's Abyss }

[[Cue: Sacrifice -> Karma]]

Louis saw the orbs multiply overhead, he knew at the point this was the last stretch, the grand finale.

Well, this is it, he thought as time seemed to come to a halt in his eyes, Ultima won this battle. I've got nothing left... Louis sighed, metally shaking his head in disapointment, but... I still can't hand her the win... she'll have to pry her victory from my cold dead grip before I give her any ground. I may be out of magic, but my body still moves and I can still fight! Tooth and nail make great weapons after all. Louis chuckled inwardly, It always works out in the movies right? The hero prevails out of the direst of circumstances... ha! Since when does anything work like the movies. Oh well... here goes nothing...

[[-->Karma]]

Before the orbs even moved, Louis dashed forward, slower than normal, but fast enough that he wouldn't be crawling. As the bullets let loose and homed in for the kill, Louis dived forward out of the first blast, rolled, and came back up in the face of the last remaining demon. He thrust his blade into his chest, then spun around underneath the blade. He used the demon's slow reaction speed to his advantage, pulling his blade back out as he rounded the demon's side, using his massive body as a shield from the incoming attacks and deflecting what he could with his rapier like an exotic dance of blades while circling the demon. It was inevitable the explosions would eventually catch up with him and take him down, but Louis would not go down without a fight.

{ Ultima : Metaphysical Plane : Corruption's Abyss }

The demon, though stabbed through and through by the rapier, seemed unaffected as Louis twisted around him. His reaction speed may have been utterly worthless, but his resistance to physical trauma was beyond human capability, especially with Louis' weakened strength.

Louis' fatal flaw, though, was not that he remained close to the demon. It was that he thought the demon being there would help him at all. Magic was, quite literally, a mystical thing. They were called the 'magic arts' for a reason; they were mystical energies molded to suit your needs, not sciences that obeyed specific, organized laws. The demon's spell? Phased straight through him as if he weren't there. After all, it was his own spell, he was certainly not the target, and there had been nothing to interfere with the spell's properties (so far).

With Louis directly behind him, the demon didn't have to do much to continue his assault. He tensed his arm and, with just as much force as usual, thrust his elbow behind him, directly where Louis would have been- assuming the blasts didn't push him too far away.

{ Louis : Metaphysical Plane : Corruption's Abyss }

Louis was prepared for the demon to fight back, however, he was not prepared for the spells he attempted to hide from using the demon, to pass right through his make shift wall. The blasts carried Louis through the air, blasting him repeatedly until he collapsed on the floor with a loud, damp thump. There was a long pause before the boy shifted again. Louis lifted his gaze to look past the demon at Ultima through his darkness tainted eyes and layer of dis-helved ink-black, blood-matted hair.

With a loud choking cough, Louis spit up a large amount of darkness onto the floor that immediately absorbed itself into the floor. Louis stared at the floor for a moment, then looked around shakily. That's it! That's what's wrong. I've been fighting as if this place was a real physical space. It's not... none of this is real. It's all fabricated! Fabricated by weaving darkness into a desirable form. If it can be created, it can be disassembled!

Louis dragged himself to his feet with newfound vigor. He looked Ultima in the eye and grimaced, "Well... it's been fun, Ultima."

The arcanist opened up his palms at each side, a darkness and demi spell forming in each, the absolute last bit of energy he had left in him. Louis took both and slammed to the two together, pressing the two forces into one close to his chest. Then the two powers pressed back, expanding out and engulfing the arcane knight before vanishing again.

The boy reappeared at the very center of the platform, his eyes pitch black and glowing from their core. Bright light engraved itself into the floor spreading out to every edge following a perfect pattern. When it was finished, from above the floor resembled a glowing rose. Louis threw his hands out to his sides his chest flashing in unison and continuing to shine like a beacon into the abyss. Then, like a moth to the flame, or a drain funneling water, darkness began pouring in from all sides, whirlpools of pitch black spreading out from all the surfaces and making their way to the bright orb on his chest that was quickly losing its shine behind the clouds of black substance.

Bit by bit, his final spell would absorb every hint of darkness from the surrounding area until there was nothing left. This was his last resort. The peak of his resolve. The Vangaurd's Sacrifice.

{ Ultima : Metaphysical Plane : Corruption's Abyss }

Ultima's violet eyes, already glowing with her magical essence, seemed to come alight at Louis' final actions, growing deeper in intensity than ever before. The world itself seemed to be collapsing into Louis as he allowed his heart to absorb the Darkness that she had summoned in order to manifest this realm. Her work, her masterpiece, was being torn asunder by this Avatar of Corruption as if it were nothing at all. If Louis were even paying attention, he could see that he visage was filled to the brim with emotion, with determination...

... with joy.

The barrier around her and her throne shattered, and at that precise moment, the Bloody Queen vanished all together. The throne disintegrated, much as the rest of the world began to; everything was reduced to ash and dust as Louis' heart devoured its very essence.

All but Ultima.

"Checkmate."

The Esper reappeared behind Louis in a twisting-expansion of blood-stained gray feathers, her appearance almost entirely different. No more was she a Bloody Queen; she was the true Bloody Angel, in full form. Her crimson dress was replaced with a suit of light armor the color of blood, covering her upper body from waist to neck, including her hands and fingers; it ended around her thighs, cutting off like a one-piece swimsuit. She had knee-high boots of the same crimson color, two short-swords bound around her calves by belts. From her back sprouted large, blood-stained gray wings, the bases of which were also encased in the suit of armor. Her hair remained platinum, but from just above her ears, smaller gray wings protruded from her hair line.

In the brief moment that she appeared, she was aloft as if she had been in flight, her body twisted to the side as if she had been spinning. She was just an inch or two higher than Louis, looking down on him with a triumphant smirk, her eyes now an eerie, glowing venetian red. In both her hands, she held Ajora's swallow-spear, pulled back at the ready. And in the single, vulnerable instant, she thrust it into her target with a blood-lust, stabbing Louis in his back, upper neck; as the spear pierced through his flesh, it was absorbed like the rest of the makeshift realm, and she was sucked into him as if he were a black hole, vanishing entirely...

{ Louis : Metaphysical Plane : Corruption's Abyss }

As the world slowly crumbled around Louis like a blindfold slowly patching itself over his eyes, blotching out pieces of his vision, he felt the dulled jab to the back of his head. He didn't feel pain, only a numb pressure, what came after however was obvious, the sudden invasion of another. The pressure of a second conscience on the back of his mind. He'd felt it before. He knew the feeling well when Mateus became impatient and pushed against the cold steel gates of his free will.

In seconds, the platform and demon completely vanished into nothing, and with nothing left to support him in the abyss, Louis fell and sank into the darkness. From the space left behind he soon became a forgotten shadow vanishing further into the bottomless pit.

"This twisted game of chess... is only just beginning..."

Only when nothing left could be seen a bright light shimmered like a dot deep within the confines of black. A second later, a raging flow of light rampaged upward following a pure black bolt of lighting, that seemed to cut through the abyss like a piece of fabric hung over a window. It filled the emptiness with pure white as far as the eye could see. Outside the portal on the platform of Dawn's heart, Garuda would see the portal shine from within, then explode with a prism of colors before vanishing forever.

"Alright, then," Alan started. "let's start with the big one: what's your side fighting for?"

He paused, then added: "I mean, in the long term, what are you trying to accomplish? I'm not asking you to divulge strategic information. I'd just like to understand what you're about."

Alan was no longer smirking. He was sitting in the sand, and looking at Ajora with a searching expression, almost like he was testing him.

"Everyone has their own goals, and we rarely share amongst ourselves," Ajora answered Alan's first question, awaiting Nicholas' reaction to the frisbee he'd thrown. Straight to the chase? Well, two could play at that game.

"But myself, personally? I suppose you could sum it up as genocide or conquest. Trivial terms, really," he explained, nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders. His turn. "Though you asked two questions, I'll only count the second, since I didn't have a good answer to the first. So, my question... what's your job class? I mean, if you had to compare your skills to a specific job from Final Fantasy template. I'm a dragoon, for instance, and Bobbi's a ranger. Et vous?"

[[I figure since we're all in the same area and whatnot, we might as well all use the same ATE title and whatnot. I don't think post number really matters for this, since it's not a specific plotline.]]

Nick opened an eye to see a frisbee heading towards him. His immediate reaction? Brace his head for impact. The frisbee hit his forearm, then bounced into the sand next to him.

"...Ouch. That sort of hurt...not really." The aeromancer sighed before getting up and picking the disc and holding it in his hand. He waved it like a tambourine for a moment before moving towards Ajora and handing it to the Dark Dragoon. He then moved down the shore and bellowed out to Ajora.

"Toss it. I'm ready for it this time."

{ATE : Hawaiian Relaxation}
[Alan :: Hawaii, Beach]

Alan was a little surprised to hear Ajora's answer. 'Genocide or conquest'. Not 'conquest or power'. Not 'conquest or forging a nation'. Genocide. Which meant that 'conquest' really meant something more along the lines of 'havoc'. How contemptible.

Alan also made note of the other answer Ajora gave: his 'side' was apparently even less unified then their own. Interesting.

Of course, Ajora could be lying. Somehow, though, Alan didn't think so. It didn't sound like a lie, and the other replica's behavior seemed to confirm it. The thing about 'genocide' certainly wasn't a lie. What purpose could lying about that possibly serve? Only to make the Earthlings hate him.

Still, Ajora was clearly leaving out information. 'Genocide', after all, requires an object. And 'could sum it up as' was blatant weaseling. It was a half answer. But it was a valuable half answer.

Alan waved goodbye to Amy as she went back to the village (she seemed upset . . . which was understandable) and contemplated how he should answer Ajora's question. There was probably no purpose in lying, he considered. The information Ajora was requesting was mostly trivial. It was probably more valuable to keep up the pace of the questions than to pull something cheeky and risk agravating Ajora.

"How forthright of you," Alan mused. "Genocide and conquest aren't exactly the same thing, though, I hope you realize."

Alan's heart felt like it was trying to escape from his ribcage, but his face was eerily calm. He spoke in a detached manner, as if he and Ajora were holding some sort of abstract debate.

"And I am the Black Mage. I casts the spells that makes the peoples fall down." Alan maintained his straight face despite the stupid joke. Like Ajora, he was giving a half-answer. No need to mention Regen or Counterspell or Clarity - - the abilities that had thus far been the most actual use.

"And my second! I asked the 'What' question - now for the 'Why' question. 'Where', 'Who', 'When', and 'How' may be forthcoming." Alan's eyes fixed on Ajora again. "Why genocide?"

"Depends, could be genocide for the sake of conquest or vice versa. I liked Hitler," he said plainly to Alan's 'correction', nodding to Nicholas as he took back the frisbee. As Nicholas walked down the beach a bit, Ajora listened to Alan's answer and question. Black mage, hmm? So magical powerful made useless by the negator. Check.

"Why not genocide?" he responded, pulling the frisbee back to his side and tossing it cleanly through the air at Nicholas; it was not charged with energy, not set to explode. It was just a frisbee. Jeez. "I hate certain people. I have the power to kill them. One plus one, et cetera. Now, what's your summon? For instance, if you had to relate it to a Final Fantasy summon?"

It was pretty clear Ajora didn't give half a damn that the canons were nearby.
