(Well damn... It's been far too long since I've looked in here.. sweatdrop sweatdrop I'm sorry for not showing up but like most everyone else IRL stuff has gotten in the way. I'm going to take a couple pills to get rid of this headache, then come back and edit my stuff into this post..)

Edit: Nevermind, my post is down below now. 3nodding

((Yeesh, me too, been awhile, feeling kinda guilty. Glad to see there was some activity, though!))

Goldie released her grip, rubbing his ear gently now to soothe away the sting. She planted a kiss on his jaw just below his earlobe, her lips lingering, "I know it's hard. Like swallowing needles, we'll sort it out, I promise." She whispered.

Amadeus looked to Dorien, "Do you have a plan of attack. Actually, it might be better if you simply tell us who do not know the background of this situation what's going on first." He pointed out mildly.

((THIS IS FOR BRASCUS....just in case you miss it....XDDD))

A light breeze blew the scent of another lycanthrope, wolf...and something more. Defintely female and defintely close. It was up for grabs whether or not he'd go investigate.

Upwind of a possible threat, Sable had stopped by a falafel vendor to grab something to snack on. She'd been a bit surprised to see one out this late but she shrugged it off and was currently waiting for her order.

((I apologize Scarlett. I know I'm bad about that. sweatdrop ))

Fenrir paused at the smell. He debated whether or not to ignore it, but he always jumped at the chance to annoy Trodan and decided on being fashionably late.

He turned a few corners easily picking up the scent. He shifted to human form as he saw the source. He didn't recognize her and that seemed odd to him. He knew almost every lycan in the city and he was certainly aware of they're scents. She was unfamilar in every way. That was a reason to be cautious.

He decided on the most direct approach. He moved until he was about five feet behind her and then spoke. "Who are you and why are you here?" He was never one for dancing around the point.

Quinn looked up to find a White Hare sitting in front of him. It was... and oddity, really. A white hare, in such a desolate place? That couldn't be white. And then it hit him; he could feel the pull of her string. The White Hare in question was in fact a Doppelganger.

"Well hello there, little Doppelganger." Quinn talked to the hare as if it were about the weather, leaning back and taking a moment's rest in the sand, "Can you perhaps help us out? We're looking for someone, as I'm sure you've heard."

"Stop." Mira whispered to Stefan, and the two stopped, "Turn sideways, and act like you're talking to me. I want to see what happens."

Stefan and Mira turned sideways, placing Quinn and the Hare to their right and left respectively. If it was necessary, they could lend aid. Mira didn't think that would be necessary though. She felt no ill will from the Hare.

Seven meant no ill will, but mischief was in high supply. She arched upward and turned into the form of Kaiser Dante, former leader of the Desert. She had served him long enough that the only things awry were those currently with Rike, the twin blades Ignorance and Want. They were visible upon her, a perfect visual match, but they lacked their own magical signature.

Her wings stretched out and stirred up the sand, "Depends upon who you are looking for, child. Who are you, and who do you seek?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 17, 2008 11:25 pm

"Let it be, dear one." Mira grabbed Stefan's sword arm as it ventured to the hilt of his blade, "Let it be. Feel her aura."

"Her, love?" Stefan looked quizzically at his wife, "The demon looks not like a woman to me."

"I know." Mira continued watching as Seven interrogated her brother. It was interesting. There was clearly no ill will. It was more than obvious to her. She couldn't believe, though, that the demon before them was the Doppelganger's true form, "Call it a woman's intuition."

Quinn's behind reached the sand roughly the same time Seven's transformation changed. When a demon stood before him, he was slightly surprised. It didn't work to him, for multiple reasons. First of all, most demons were capable of shifting, but not often were they able to change into such small animals. (Nor did they generally choose to.) So... If this demon was the true form of the Doppelganger, what was it doing?

"My name is Quinn Siddel; that is the name that I was given and go by." Quinn answered calmly, "I seek not one, but two. The names are Rike and Malen, father and sister of Lina Sec. I come with a message, and to take them with me."

He stood up, finally feeling a little better. The height difference between he and Seven's current form was comical. He barely reached the Demon's waist line. Seven quite literally had to look down on him in order to see or speak to him.

"And what do they call you, Doppelganger?" Quinn asked, not a hint of fear or hesitation in his voice, "And what do you really look like?"

Seven shot a glare at the elf and his wife, acute hearing picking up the near attack. Most people weren't magically enough inclined to guess so quickly at what she was, although these three were not the usual visitors to the Desert. Admittedly, she was mildly impressed and wondered if the woman had mothered Quinn, for their feeling to her was that of family. Once Mira and Stefan had settled and posed no threat her gaze then settled upon the child before her.

"Quinn Siddel?" She laughed, for that was the name of the Valley leader, though she had met him and knew this child to be unrelated. "You have not earned the right to my name let alone my true form, although for now you may call me Kaiser."

She crouched to better face Quinn, wings stretching out and above her to shade them both. There was no bother emulating the behavior of the departed leader if these people knew she wasn't truly him. "What emergency would bring you here to take away the retainers of the Nation when they are sorely needed?"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 18, 2008 12:24 am

"Quite simply, it's business." Quinn was not afraid of demons. He had faced plenty in his time, "Business regarding the Ten of Signet City. The assistance of Rike and Malen is required in order to keep the ten alive, for their bodies are truly failing. Now forgive me for being forward, but the time of my teacher is short. Will you help me, or should I be on my way?"

The thought of Ashra's current condition worried him greatly. His teacher was not well when he left, so the less time he spent playing games with a Doppelganger the better. There were much more important matters to attend to.

"I must find Rike and Malen, and I must return to Signet." His gaze was unwavering, staring right into 'Kaiser's' eyes.

"Good show, little one." The words escaped Mira's lips, as a smile spread across Stefan's face, "Good show."

She laughed, rearing to full height and settling wings about her shoulders. Seven had not chosen to intimidate the child, and had made no effort of the kind. It amused her that he thought he needed to stare her down. The form she had chosen reflected her current control over their entrance to the nation, which would remain in effect until someone did something about the tripped wards.

Although Quinn spoken all the right names, for she had learned of Rike in his time leading the Desert. "You are far to serious, little one, old beyond what you appear. Promise me a dance, and you shall be taken as close to Rike as I can. I see no reason to give you something for nothing in return, and I guarantee granting me this request will speed along your 'business.' It will be up to them whether or not they return to Signet with you."

Rike could take heat from the desert at its worst times and even could be near the Desert Nation's many forges without breaking a sweat, but for some reason the magical heat from Ignorance and Want wasmore discomforting than it should have been...But then the feeling was gone almost as soon as it started.

"What the..." he looked around him in confusion just in time to hear the wards being tripped. With a shrug he moved out of the door. He'd worry about it later, there were more pressing matters to attend too, like whoever had tripped the wards for instance.

Malen herself was already on her way to the desert suface with a few other guards, her handy revolvers already in her hands. Finally some action, she thought with a smile, Dad can deal with keeping this city whole. I prefer breaking things up anyway.

She gave her group a small look over before moving onward.

--

Salen allowed the suspicious looks to roll off his back like water, his gaze only for Lina. She was the one who he wanted to see the trust from, even if it was only a little. That wiould be enough for him to move on with this plan.

Lina held his gaze for a long moment staring hard enough to peer into his soul, but all she saw was the mix up feeling of a warrior trying to pull his life together again. There was a slowly growing resolve, one to help at all costs...

She sighed before looking away, "You wish to help those you wanted to destroy? After fifty years I guess I can see the slow change of heart...but if you are to help it will not be as your were before. You do realize that don't you?"

"I do Lady Lina."

"Then you may join us...but under supervision of course."

Salen bowed, "Thank you my Lady, I will try my best not to fail you again."

Lina nodded, gesturing for him to come inside as she began to move down the hall, "It wouldn't have been very hard to get one from one of our allies, but the question is if he already knows where the first vessel is. I believe we should assume that he does and move quickly as the howls suggested."

She led the way to a large meeting room he should have found familiar. It was the same one that the entire Lotus gang exiled Salen and even locked himself up in their own madness at one time. The only things that had changed was that the Bastet and Blaydon symbols were now beside the Lotus symbol and although it didn't look it, with a small spell it could fit all three former gangs inside it. The same thing could be said for the entire Lotus base, also known as the STU Headquarters.

A few elders were there waiting for them, the Book of Fate open and aready revealing Ashra's vessel and his location, "We need to leave for Lorindel now."

Arcturus followed her until they all agreed upon going to Lorindel. He kept silent throughout her talk with Mira and Stefan, always a few steps back and never making himself really known. Talking just wasn't in his nature, especially when it worked much better for him to listen instead.

Still he followed after they had left the mansion and found Salen standing there. He narrowed his eyes and glared at the man, wondering whether he could still be trusted...

-

Artanis ran after Karrot, a bit agitated that the dwarf would leave him behind like that. "Wait up! I'd prefer to have some company while I'm still trying to figure things out..." After narrowly avoiding some of the things he could only assume were cars though, he managed to catch up with his old friend.

No doubt he's going to get a drink though. After that lovely trip I could use one too come to think of it...

Karrot walked straight up to the bar and took a seat.
"What can I get for you Chief?"
"Something strong and inexpensive."
"I've got just the stuff, called Valve 19, some folks call it motor oil, not much for taste, but it hits the spot in potency for the price. but I'd suggest a shot before you get too much, to see if you can handle it."
"Give me a pint of it, I can hold my liquor and I'm a cook so I can handle bad taste."
After the bartender gawked at the choice he saw the look on Karrot's face and quickly pulled him a pint, which Karrot drained, then placed three gold coins on the counter which the bartender snatched up, realizing the value and refilled Karrot's stein. and leaving the bottle on the table.
"Keep 'em coming until I can't afford another bottle with what I gave you."
The bartender stuttered something that sounded like "bottle!?" and then went to grab more Valve 19 from his stores.

"Hold, I sense the most recent temporal anomaly has come here as well. Look sharp, the ancients won't give us much heed if we seem as lowly beggars."
"Yes of course, My Lady."
"He seems misplaced, go fetch him please."
"Yes, My Lady. As you wish."
The strangely dressed man then walked out of the bar.
easily spotting Artanis, he approched.
"Sir, do you seek your companion? He has gone into this bar here for alcoholic liquids."
The man then walked back in and sat down again, noticing two drinks on the table he looked over at his female companion, who smiled.
"it's just juice, I know how you handle alcohol, and I don't feel like dragging you around right now."

Quinn was, for lack of better articulation, completely lost. This Doppelganger had done what no one in over a hundred years had managed to do, and that was leave him speechless. He did not, however, lose his form. If there were two things that being a Balancer had taught him well, one of them was that. The other, well, that was thinking on his feet.

"A dance you say?" He asked, his seriousness being broken by an ear-to-ear smile, "That is something that I could easily supply. But my younger self makes that so much more difficult. You're right when you say I am serious beyond my years..."

With a quick stomp of his foot and some well timed magic, Quinn brought a wall of sand up between him and Seven. In the same motion and moment, he cast the spell on himself that his Teacher had helped develop. In a bright flash, somewhat darkened by the sand shield, the child mage transformed into what Quinn was 50 years ago, before the accident that turned him into a child. It was the oldest he had ever been, and so that was the oldest he was allowed to carry himself. (For the time being, at least... )

"I am, in fact, much older than I appear." Quinn, now physically one hundred and twenty-one years old, "I prefer the form of a child, thought. They can get away with much more mischief than adults."

He paused before asking a final question, "I have given you the grace of my older self. I ask not your name, but your form. Would you grant me the pleasure of the real you, so that we may dance?"

Stefan's jaw dropped, while Mira only continued to smile. She found the current situation completely fascinating. It had been a long time since she had seen her little brother in action. She was enjoying every minute of it. Stefan was just...confused. That was the only way to describe the look on his face. Confused.

"That brother of yours is certainly an interesting one..." Stefan whispered, "And I mean that in the nicest way possible."

Mira replied with a smile, "Interesting is one way of putting it. The work always gets done though. The work always gets done."

Supervision... such a word is easier said than done. Lina thought as Salen moved to his feet. Salen is a good warrior, who has an unwitting talent for being elusive even outside of missions. I need someone who is the same way...

Remus would have been a good choice, but with the STU moving so soon she needed him to help manage things now more than ever. With a glance to the side, she looked at Arcturus for a moment before returning her gaze to Salen, "Arcturus, would you be Salen's shadow? I need someone who can keep up with him and I believe you are that man." She also knew that with Arcturus who saw what Salen did first hand, there wouldn't be any misplaced trust between them. If he earned Arcturus' trust, then he'd be put in a more favorable light than she was giving him now.

Arcturus took a step forward, still glaring at Salen. "It'd be my pleasure." he said in a low growl.

--

Artanis was somewhat confused by this new person, especially his manner of dress and talk... Even the people 6000 years ago didn't do that. All he could conclude was this man was an oddball. He dismissed the man as being a bit nuts, but the information was at least useful. Walking in he quickly spotted Karrot at the bar and took a seat next to him.

"You and your alcohol... What kind of stuff are you having this time?" he asked curiously noticing the awful smell.
