"If we aren't in sync, we've already lost the race." It was as simple as that to him really. He'd learned a long time ago that rider and horse had to be one hundred percent involved and in sync or victory was nothing more than a hopeless dream. It never went well otherwise.
Questions were always liable to get her back into a conversation. "I gave you enough to last you about a week. Keep the poultice on him while he's in the stables at night and while he's eating his breakfast in the morning. Take it off and exercise him briefly but add more each day as you see him capable of handling it. If he's still bad off at the end of the week then come back and see me and I'll make him a new mixture. If he falls, get me immediately because we can't risk him doing even more damage to himself and he's stubborn."

"At least you know the base importance boy. And that is what makes racing legends." Legends of course only lasted so long in the light of glory but that was a lesson that every racer had to learn on their own. Finishing off his plate he tended to his milk before wiping his mouth with his napkin and giving a satisfied noise. "He's already wanting to be up and about and makes his complaints about my keeping him down loudly known. I had to rein him to his stable poles to make him stay down while I was gone." But nodding lightly at her instruction. "You can always stop by and take a look at him if you want later in the week. Bring Zykariel even so he can see where I live in Vesendar."

He preened at that statement, pleased he'd made some kind of impression on the used to be racer. It was nice knowing his effort had gotten him somewhere really.
Kelligrin was playing more than eating so she set him on the floor and went about cleaning up the mess from lunch. "He will. With his strong spirit, the road to recovery won't be an easy one but he knows you aren't doing it to be mean. Like a child he balks at what's best for him even though he knows it is." Taking Nadai's plate since he was tending towards 'I'm done' motions, she nodded and rested a hand on his shoulder. "I'll do that. You'll be taking your leave now, I assume? You know you're welcome to stay as long as you like. I can always use company."

Teenagers, how he missed being one sometimes. But he turned his smile to Zahara as she cleaned up some, coming back to rest her hand on his shoulder and he reached up to rest his hand on top of hers. "Delicious lunch Zara, thank you. I haven't eaten that well in a while." Chuckling lightly to that before giving a nod then. "He'll be better in no time I'm sure, he's always been a fast healer anyway." Sighing, "You know me and imposing."

"You are very welcome, Nadai. Come see me anytime and I'll feed you properly." Chuckling softly. "If you were to find someone to settle down with, you'd be eating a lot better, instead of that bachelor food you subsist on." Clearing away the rest of the plates and making him a container to take with him for dinner or lunch tomorrow. It wouldn't keep past that. "Well, if I can't convince you to stay, at least take this and keep yourself safe. No wandering on anyone else's land because they probably won't be nearly as sweet to you as I am." Plopping a kiss on his cheek. "I'll come see you later this week."
"I'll walk him out!" Said hastily before his mother could take care of the task herself. "I'm sure you have lots to do here inside, right mom?" Nodding before she could even say anything, he was up and moving, heading towards the door. "You can drop in and see Destyny real quick before you leave. She's a real beauty."
Zahara rolled her eyes at her teenager's antics, sharing a look with Nadai. "Of course I have tons to keep me busy inside. And Kelligrin's going to help me, aren't you baby?" Scooping up the grinning toddler and taking the toy she was handed. "Be careful, Zykariel and don't take up too much of Nadai's time. He has other things to do you know." Turning, she scooped some of the casserole onto a plate and headed for Sevilin's training room. Setting the plate on his desk over his drawings, she quirked an eyebrow. "Lunch is served, Mr. Grumpy Bond."

He rolled his eyes lightly. "For some reason I just seem to make women reject me." Shrugging nonchalantly at that notion though, it didn't bother him too much. Getting himself up before smiling at her and taking the container, pressing a kiss to her own cheek as well. "Aw, taking care of me and everything. I'm sure Jin will be excited to see you." Laughing though at her son's enthusiasm to be the one to show him out and he gave a wave to Zahara, "I'll see you then. Nice to meet you Kelligrin." Thusly following Zykariel out and around to the stables. "Alright then, why don't you pull her out of her stall and let her show up a little bit."
Still not happy with all the developments in the kitchen that he was fully aware of, but he merely kept himself occupied by his runes, that is of course until ZAhara wandered back into his room. A blink and a look to the foot set down before a look up to here where she stood. "I am not grumpy."

She chuckled, shifting Kelligrin and nuzzling his cheek. "No, you're right. You're nervous, wary, annoyed, and contemplating violence. Grumpy just seemed to cover it all in one." Shaking her head and watching him for a minute, then setting the toddler down and taking to rubbing his shoulders. "Nadai won't harm us or anyone that belongs to us. Don't worry."
Oh yes, he was very excited, so excited, in fact, that he nearly skipped to the stables but caught himself just in time. Stepping into the structure, he blew out a low whistle to alert Destyny that he was coming and then opened her stall door, leading her out. "Come on girl, we've got another racer to impress." She took the cue and strutted out into the corral, tossing her head and snorting impatiently.

He mad a noise of annoyance to her analyzing and merely picked up his fork, poking at his food some that was on the plate. "Depends on your definition of harm I suppose." Frankly he knew he could snap that boy in half if he wanted to, probably with his bare hands and strength, no runes needed. Though he did relax some under her massaging. "Where do you know him from?"
He leaned on the corrall fencing, watching as the young elf enthusiastically went about bringing out his beloved horse and how said horse was just as eager to please. One look at the creature and he knew the mare was indeed in fabulous racing condition. Nadai gave a whistle of appreciation. "Beautiful mare, and in top notch look of racing. Muscle built up properly, lean but not too much, gorgeous posture." Looking to the boy. "You want to give her a run around the pin?"

She thought it better not to respond to that first statement considering his mood and the irritation he was projecting loud and clear. She continued to work his shoulders, moving her fingers up slowly to brush through his hair and along his ears. Silly man. But then right back down to his shoulders and along his tension-filled back. "He was a customer of mine way back when. I met him in the market one day and found out he was interested in Nightmares. He saved up half the price and I gave him an extra large discount on one of Trissarem's foals. Hardy little rapscallion he was too."
Had he been his normal self he'd have said something along the lines of 'don't ask stupid questions.' Since he was far more inclined to give, he nodded exuberantly and beamed at the praise. He knew she was a pretty girl just like she did. "Come on, girl, let's show him what you can do." Mounting up, he let her prance around the corral once, then led her into a trot and finally a full-fledged gallop though he never once gave her her head.

He was bird eating if anything, and clearing he was doing more internal thinking than anything else at the moment, though the subject matter exactly was his alone to know. Discount? Since when did this woman give discounts? Especially extra large ones. "Why in the world would you give him a discount?" His mind of course conjoured up half a dozen other reasons as to why that he didn't like at all.
He watched as Zykariel made a show of showing off his horse and what she could do, analyzing how the boy rode but he kept his mouth shut until he was done and trotted back over toward the section of the fencing he was perched on. "She holds a good gait, but you need to shift your weight to more center. You're putting too much toward her head and it taxes her front legs more than needed." Tip of the day. "I'll show you once Jin is back up."

"I felt sorry for him?" Which wasn't in the least true. Actually he'd blackmailed her in a long convoluted plot that she didn't particularly want to divulge to Sevilin. "He had saved up half the money after all. And Jin took to him immediately."
He straightened, immediately correcting his stance as he was told to do, or at least tried. It was important to know those types of things just in case. He didn't want to be straining his horse needlessly after all. "I'd appreciate that. But if I don't let you go my mom is going to get pissed off. Just don't tell anyone that I still listen to my mom like that, okay?"

Another noise of displeasure to that....he had always been tight on money but he also assumed that back then they weren't sharing money anyway...but Zahara could be a push over from time to time...or there were other circumstances involved be they intimate or emotional. "You like your horses going to good homes. Makes sense." And giving her an excuse to boot, he was terrible really. "And how does he knew where we live?" Because that really irked him.
"No worries, it'll be our secret. But honestly do feel free to come down with your mother when she visits to check on Jin." Giving the boy a clap on the shoulder before turning on his heel with a gesture of a wave of his hand. "See you around, racer. I look forward to what you can do." Thusly starting off, it was indeed going to be a bit of a walk back to Vesendar.

And there he went making those silly noises again. What was she going to do with that man? Glancing back to make sure Kelligrin wasn't doing anything he wasn't supposed to, she plopped a kiss on his cheek then swooped down on her son and tugged him into her lap, tickling him. "I'm not sure about that one. I don't remember ever telling him but perhaps I did. Or he went to visit Malik and someone there told him. Or maybe he just wanted to find me and kept searching until he did. You've found people that didn't want to be found before, I'm sure."
"Count on it." Pleased his reputation was still intact, he dismounted and led Destyny back to the stall, brushing her down and giving her an extra treat for showing off so nicely.

Well that just made him frown because he didn't like any of those being the answer. Now he would have to go out and do some runics and such to make this place harder to find to those that didn't know it was here. He was not going to have everyone and their brother walking into his space as they pleased. Some paranoid habits just didn't go away. "Well, I'll just have to find out then and correct the problem." Looking back to her slightly, "Used to be my job to do such things." And then kill them...but he was going to try to not go there. "And he knows Zykariel too?"

"Sevilin, don't snap at anyone you shouldn't. And please don't put anything up that might discourage customers. I know that you make plenty for us but I still like my job, even if it's more of a hobby." Watching him closely as he seemed really upset about the knowledge that someone might be able to find them. Then again it could be a hazard in the Underdark. "Zykariel was little but he was with me in the market when we ran into him. He didn't like him very much because he was still waging his campaign to get the two of us together."
