He was good at conning his mother, though Sevilin didn't want to be negative out loud and his son didn't always use it ill intent. Blinking a moment as if he'd been told something he didn't like as his own words rung in his head and made him think in ill directions. Stop that. "Long as you don't get yourself in trouble, play as you wish. And women are always fickle. Look at your mother, she's still fickle to this day...some are just less fickle than others."

"All I gotta do is fake a little bit of something and she'll leave the stitches in as a precaution." Yes, he knew his mother quite well. He agreed with his father on what women were looking for but he didn't just want to be a stack of gold coins and a fast horse to a woman. He wanted more than that and he knew he'd probably never actually find what he wanted. It was a bit like searching for his second skill; fruitless and disappointing. "How is mom fickle? She married you, didn't she? Gave you four kids and would give you another in a heartbeat. Not to mention she still shares your bed and I'm not thinking about that so don't say anything on that part of the subject."

"Fake too much and she won't let you out of the house to even see those girls and show off." Well, seemed his boy was going to be okay after all...something's Sevilin though he worried too much. But he couldn't help it...Zykariel had been the first thing to really go right from the get go in his world. A slight chuckle though as his son made sure that subjects he'd rather not hear were kept quiet. "But she still changes her mind at the last moment, and some days she wants to be the absolute power in the house and other days she wants nothing more than to just give it all to me so she can bask in the ease she's made for herself. It's not all about kids and marriage and such. But I enjoy her fickle ways, keeps her exciting. Like how she cut her hair. She hasn't cut her hair since you were little and this morning, she chopped it off. Fickle."

"Not if she magically heals it and you know as soon as she can, she will." Shaking his head and admiring the jagged line of stitches slicing his chest diagonally. That b*****d really had gotten him pretty good. He gave a look to his father that basically asked him if he thought he was stupid. "Don't worry, no faking fevers or anything like that. I know how to worry her and snap it all back into place when I need to." Manipulate his mother? Why yes, he did when he needed to. Tilting his head, he thought back to his mother's appearance both when she'd been up not long ago and the way she'd looked for as long as he could remember. "Do you like it short? Is that why she did it?"

"Not always the truth." Tapping the thin line of scarring across his own face that ran from under his left eye back across to his ear. It was funny sometimes...out of all the abuse he endured through the years he had never retained a single scar but from one act of protection and love he did. Somehow that appealed to him. "Just don't make her wait on you hand and foot, she's stressed out right now." Ruffling his son's hair some with a shake of his head. What was he going to do with that boy? Sevilin gave a nod, "I do like it short. I wouldn't say that's absolutely why she did it, but it could be a factor. Kept her braid longer though." Which amused him. "I think your mother is just trying to re-grasp herself so to speak."

Zykariel studied the spot his father touched and chewed on his lower lip. He knew why it was there though most of his siblings didn't. They hadn't been alive and had never seen their father without it. He had. In part, he blamed himself for that scar since he'd gotten close to Khaiver while he was on plane though he'd never told either of his parents how he felt. It just had lined up too neatly in his mind and he knew he'd been used, just as his mother had. Another reason why he was avoiding Andal...now he was old enough to go find that b*****d and kill him, but he knew he didn't have a chance and didn't want to upset his parents even more.
"Aw but where's the fun in playing sick if she doesn't do stuff for me? What's she got to worry about anyway? Half of her brood is on another plane and it's not like Kel can get into any trouble. Aside from eating things he shouldn't, of course." He was full of questions this morning...which was odd for him. "Re-grasping herself....right. Like trying to be young again? She's not even old." His mother made no sense to him half the time.

"You know she'll do a few things for you, I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying don't make her do everything for you. Then again she does have that 'healing exercise' clause to her methods if she thinks your're laying around too much for your health." Hey he'd finally learned the program on all this and he was going to keep remembering it. But a light chuckle, "No, she's not. But after four children relatively close together she probably feels so. Children are a lot of work. Especially you...you gave her a run for her money when you were still small. She didn't know what to do with you when you learned you could roll over." Chuckling again at the story he knew well. Poor Zahara. "Her and I both need to re-grasp I suppose. But that's nothing you should worry about."

He rolled his eyes and nodded. "No worries. I can only take so much of her health." He chuckled along with his father at the mention of a frequent teasing story and then crossed his arms. "According to Malik, Mom faced with the prospect of changing a diaper the first time is much more amusing. I'm betting she gave you a bunch of laughs her first time she did everything." Adding his father into the equation of re-grasping and he grimaced. "Ew...that's gross. Just make sure you re-grasp away from me and Kel, okay? He doesn't need an early education and I don't want to know. Rune and soundproof the room. Promise?"

"Pretty much...though more often than not she would eventually get frustrated to the point of tears or just giving up. But she learned easy enough, you made sure of that." He rolled his eyes. "It always sex with you isn't it? For your information it's not all about that. I have my own issues and she has hers and they just need to be smoothed over and the like." Shaking his head. "You're not home enough to care anyway though, are you? You're too busy having your own fun."

I'm always going to have issues. So what? But you're telling me that you aren't having sex with her? Come on, Dad, I know girls better than that. Mom's walking around in skimpy outfits again to attract your attention. So if you aren't having sex, then why not? Mom not desirable to you anymore?"

"You just tangented off in the wrong direction on that one son. I do believe that you were the one who didn't want to discuss such subjects yet you're bringing them up. Now I could tangent right back on that, but you already warned me against such things. And you know about girls, not women, son."

"Women are just big girls when it comes to that sort of thing. Mom puffs up over things you give her the same way Faate does her rocks from boys."

"If you want to know the truth...we spent all yestderday afternoon and evening and last night together." His son probbaly wouldn't appreciate the knowledge, but hey he had asked for it. Which was amusing as well but he only perhaps smirked about it. Shaking his head though he merely watched his son a moment. "In some aspects they're alike but not all. And I'm not going to understand that rock thing. What is that?"

Wrinkling his nose and being rather thankful he'd been out of the house even if it had led to the strange series of events last night. "Young boys can't afford to buy jewelry like grown-ups can so they give girls whatever they have that's special to them. Anything works as a gesture to tell the girl they like them. And Faate's come with kisses."

Though one of those fatherly frowns, "Hers comes with kisses? Exactly how many rocks a week is she getting?" Shaking his head lightly...hm, he could impose his 'beat with a stick' rights soon. "Thought that counts gifts, hm?"
