Camwen Nice! Do you have to take it off all at once? Or are you allowed to take a week here and a couple weeks there? Just curious. We can break it into parts, but you are supposed to take most of the holiday during the "holiday season", meaning from june to september. Though if your boss agrees, you can have the holiday when you want it. @Izzy Anderson: In Finland (and I think in most parts of the Scandinavia) the holiday is regulated by law. Most companies are rather relaxed on how you are going to have your holidays, but the law does give the company a right to "assign" you the holiday weeks when you are going to have them. Luckily, in my job we can decide our selves. Only thing I need to check is that not too many people are going to have their holidays at the same time. But yes, it still a privilege that not all countries have all though I think most of the European countries have some kind of a holiday system.

Hi everyone! *hugs* Sorry, I haven't been on lately. Actually, I've been on but only to grab the cart and run off to the next site. Anyway, I'm not too sure if I'm going to be on any time soon. The router is going bonkers, my mom has a back sprain, Tiger had diagnosed with hyperactive thyroid, the Andre Rieu concert was canned (at the last minute due to G20 Summit) leaving a lot fans (including my mom and possibly Andre and his orchestra) upset. There was a lot of vandalism and looting at the downtown core due to protesting. Gives me the creeps whenever I walked by and saw people patching their stores up with wooden boards. sad

I have never even heard of Andre Rieu before today.
I am still not sure why people protest at GX summits.
Also, I am missing out on sousaphonic hijinks. I don't have the respiratory function to play any instrument one must orally appease to make it cooperate!

@Lilygwen: You're soooo lucky. Here in Canadaland we get vacation based on the number of years we've worked. You'd probably have to stay 10 years in the same full time job to get 5 weeks worth of vacation time, and I'm not even sure if it would be paid vacation (somehow I doubt it).
@FLE: I'm about an hour away, and I got the shivers watching the news over the weekend. There were so many people negatively affected, and I feel for them.
@Exxos: People protest because they feel that's the only way they can express their feelings to their respective leaders. The GX summits are particularly good for that because you can express your feelings to more than one leader. That said, there's a difference between peaceful protest and deliberately vandalizing property and assaulting people. And in reference to the wind-related instruments, there's always drums (insert head banging and devils horns here!!) or piano XD

I get that they are protesting for something to world leaders/media. What I do not get is what they are protesting about in the first place. Maybe it is just that they are protesting everything and nothing, that I am not seeing a defined issue amongst them, but I can never figure out what it is they want.

Would this offend anyone if this was ever posted somewhere? I posted this today and someone got pissed atm me.. treats me like s**t now cause of it.
Nice guys finish last, this never fails. I am just going to bottle up and not speak.
I see no harm in that. Cause the statement is true... Us nice dudes always finish last and the a**hole dudes win. That was my status on facebook today.
I posted it cause it hurt me cause a friends status was targeting me it seemed. I posted the statement above as my status and did not target anyone.... that person got mad at me and now refuses to talk to me... is it that bad really?
Cause it freaking hurts me, that I ment no harm in it and caused some.

That is actually a way to make a seriously nasty flaming projectile. The pool noodle melts and sticks to things like skin and buildings, holding the flaming medium on fairly fast.
