Garreth just looked at her and then looked away so he wasn't staring. "Yea. Our family is vacationing here for the week. I take it you're a local?"

she kept smiling and floated around him to get a good look at him. "you could say that. i'm a local at this part of the sea at least."

Garreth turned to keep his eyes on her as she spoke so she couldn't get directly behind him. No one that was human ever came out of no where to talk to him. They would usually be scared of him because of how he looked and stay away.

she stopped and looked him over. she looked at his face and smiled happily. "i like your wings. they looked very nice on you. i don't get to see many people who are different like me."

His eyebrow arched at her statement and he looked at her. "Different like you? You look fine to me." He was curious to her statement and kept his eyes on her.

she grinned as she looked at him. "you ever see one of these?" she tilted to the side a bit and her tail lifted out of the water, clearly showing him she was a mermaid.

His eyes widened and he was speechless. It wasn't that he didn't think mermaids existed, but figured he would never see one or meet one in his life. Now there was one right infront of him, talking to him.

she strightened up and placed her hands on her hips, grinning at him. "you should feel lucky. i dont show off my tail for just any boy." she giggled and smiled showing that she was just playing with him.

He was still speechless and let out a small, hesitant laugh. "So... Do you live in the ocean? Like way below surface? Are there a lot of your kind?" He figured he sounded like an idiot, but he didn't know what to say, really.

she giggled and thought his reaction was cute. "we live pretty far under the sea. i dont go too far down though. water pressure starts to hurt after a while. but yes there is a small city where i live. it's hard to find and we only know where it is."

"The water pressure starts to hurt? Is your home before this hurting level?" He was still curious and was asking a lot of questions, but usually it was people asking him questions.

she smiled and answered his questions. "yes. our city is well above the hurting level. my parents always warned me to never swim too far down."

"nah. they want me to learn about this world too. they just dont want me to show off my mermaid side. i made an exception for you though cause you're not like the other humans." she floated in front of him and check out his wings.
