She laughed and just patted his cheek in answer since to explain things would take entirely too long and he'd just roll his eyes at her giddiness over spices anyway. She spent a while dawdling in the market as father and son perused and played together and then allowed her big strapping man to carry her groceries back home since Kelligrin wasn't fond of translocation. The rest of the day passed uneventfully and Zahara decided to do some cleaning of her own. With the children gone, it was much easier to go through their old toys and clothes and get rid of what was ratty and torn and they'd outgrown by size or age.
Searching through some of the older boxes for Zykariel's old clothes and toys, she came across some of her own older clothes and sighed fondly as she ran her hand over the yellow fabric that she'd worn so many years ago. She'd forgotten about most of these clothes, her closet now filled with more "Mommy appropriate" skirts, tops, and dresses. But looking over the past now had given her a few ideas. Holding the yellow dress up to herself, she smiled softly and carried the box back upstairs. Perhaps Sevilin just needed a bit of a reminder of how things used to be...
And it was for that reason that she had arranged a playdate for Kelligrin and was making lunch, clad in that yellow dress and her old boots the next morning. Sevilin had already been up and off to Twilight but she knew he'd be home soon. And hopefully he'd be pleasantly surprised. But she had already decided to act as if nothing had changed...

He hightly doubted that he would get away with skipping lunch...he'd already skipped breakfast and she'd probably figure that out anyway. Stalling for frivilous reasons too...honestly he'd done all he needed to do at Twilight today, made a round check of his runics and should be heading back home. Then again he didn't understand himself half the time...thusly shaking his head he opted to walk home this time.
Even walking, it didn't take him long to get back home. Hm, needed to take shorter strides. Walking inside though he set his polearm in it's usual rack by the door. A sniff at the air, which lead him to the kitchen and he stood there in the doorway, head tilted at he watched her. That was new...yet nice and old in the familiar way. "What's for lunch?"

His voice startled her out of the plans she was making in her mind and she spun, eying him for a moment before she smiled and walked over, greeting him with a kiss like she'd done when they were first married. "Oh, I didn't hear you come in. How was your day?" Turning back to the counter where she was putting the final touches on their food. "Spicy sautéed chicken on a bed of romaine lettuce and a new little spin on rice. I thought we could eat like adults since we have no children to turn their noses up at it." Busying herself, she handed him two plates, cups, and the silverware. "Would you mind doing Kel's job?"

His mind was boggled and yet very very pleased...more so in the back of his mind than the forefront, but it would just take some time to fully register things. Like how he was wearing a dress she wore on few occassions that showed off practicaly everything yet nothing important in a color that that set off her whole body with it's contrast. Perhaps even more intriguing because he hadn't seen it in forever and there were no weapons and the like on her person. Yeah he was giving a lopsided grin, not that he knew it.
"I walked back. And it went well...no troubles, things intact and so on and so force, bo revolutions. Stress free and no worries." Tilting his head at what he had expected to be chicken fingers or something of that nature his eyes moved to the empty highchair as he walked over and took the items from her. "Where's Kel?" Going about setting the table then...he didn't expect his oldest at the table for lunch...hm...he didn't like the thought of that. Or maybe he was just trying to hold onto the boy too much and too long.

"Good. I'd hate for you to have a stressful day." He walked back? That was interesting. Stirring the basting sauce to drizzle over the chicken, she glanced at the the highchair as well. "Playdate. One of Lyssie's friends has a younger brother and her mother and I thought those two might get along. We're testing it out today and we'll go from there." Putting the finishing touches on their lunch, she carried the serving tray to the table and set it down then moved back to pour them both a glass of ice cold milk, using wine glances simply for looks.

He shook his head to get rid of the thoughts of his oldest at least for the time being. "Well...it's good he's making friends and getting all socially adjusted." Sniffing again as she moved food over...gods he missed grown up food. Though a blink in surprise as his stomach gave off hungry noises unexpectedly. Hey, stop trying to blow the cover would you? Walking over to her he took both glasses as briefly laced an arm around her to pull her close for a kiss. "Meanwhile you've been productive." Letting her go and setting glasses on the table, taking a seat after she did. "I take it you had fun playing with food then...you always were happy doing such things."

She smiled when his stomach betrayed itself at the smell of good food and then was even more pleasantly surprised when he took the initiative and kissed her. "I was, yes. I made dessert as well." Dropping her napkin on her lap as she settled into her seat, she picked up her fork and took a bite. "One of my talents that I truly enjoy. I like experimenting. I'm working on a dish using your cheesy snacks that will keep the taste but add some of the more nutritious side in as a compromise."

"Dessert? What happened to that only being with dinner?" That's what she liked to tell the kids anyway, that dessert was for after dinner...mostly to keep them from eating too much during the day. But he rolled his eyes as she picked at him. "Not everything has to be good for you to eat it and I like them just as nutrition lacking as they are." Though he did indeed get that pleased smile as he ate...though it was more telling that he liked it because he ate it slow rather than snarfed it down as usual. "I like it when you experiement with food...at least when it comes to grown up food."

"I know you do and I don't have a problem with that at all. I've decided to keep a store of them on the top shelf of the pantry for you to have whenever you like. That way they are up away from the little ones and you can sneak off and eat them." She was indeed watching him closely, monitoring his reactions to each bite to tell her what she might need to change next time though he'd hardly know that. "I thought you'd enjoy the spice the most. I know how much you like things with a bite."

"Oh are you now? No more restrictions on them because you don't like me eating them?" Shrugging lightly and continuing at his lunch in casual fashion. Though he did shaking his head and laugh lightly. "I get it...they can't but I can. Then again I've put worse in me haven't I?" Nodding lightly as she was seeking mean approvals as she always liked to do. "I do...is the only real seasoning you use that I do like. Beyond me why, but that's how it is. Fishing for compliments?"

"Yes, it's really no use fighting with you about so I finally decided to give in gracefully. You should be very pleased." Taking a sip of her milk and then mirroring his chuckle. "Because you like the colorful and saucy. The plain, ordinary and everyday doesn't excite you nearly as much. Didn't you know, my husband, that's why you fell for me in the first place?" Leaning back in her chair and biting her lip slightly, embarrassed. "Perhaps. Just one or two. Do I need to fish any deeper?"

"So I have to be obstinate about something for five or so years and eventually I get my way? I'll remember that and start working on the other things you find ridiculous that I enjoy." Grinning to that in that goofy mischief way he didn't even know he did. "And you just have all the answers tonight don't you?" Tilting his head at her as she admitted her compliment fishing...see he new. "You haven't looked as beautiful as you do now in...years." Poingting his fork at her, "Don't take that the bad woman twisting way either." It was true...Zahara often didn't care for her looks too much like she used to anymore. "And for once in a long time, I actually want to eat. Do I get to have seconds or are you going to tell me no?"

"Well, either you'll eventually get your own way or you'll set yourself up for a lot of fights and nights on that lumpy couch you hate. Just remember, it's your own choice." Her smile faded at his compliment and she stared at him for a few moments. She'd been referring to compliments on the food, not her person but his words were cherished nonetheless. She knew he wasn't just saying it, the sparkle in his eyes told him that. She closed her eyes for a moment, resting her cool glass against her suddenly heated cheek, the banked fires springing back to life in her violet depths. "I seek only to bring you pleasure. Have as much as you like...of anything you like."

"I'm going to take that couch outside, and set it on fire." And cue the ignorant Sevilin head tilt that often came about when she said such things and he didn't exactly get it because he hadn't associated such connotations well in his younger years and it was hard if not impossible to teach old dogs new tricks so to speak. Even more so ignorant confusion when she was short worded with him and not in the angry way. Thusly he shifted in his seat as he often did when ignorantly confused and thus uncomfortable with things. "What, no ribbing for all of that?"

And there he was. Her sweet, blithely unaware husband who had never adapted well to teasing or innuendos. She took a moment to collect her composure and returned to her meal, shaking her head with a grin. "This meal is ribbing free, unless you'd like it to be otherwise. But, since you're seeking my opinion, I think you should absolutely burn that couch straight to ashes. It's not at all comfortable and there's no reason why you should ever have to sleep on it. Right?"
