Terryn kept to his side, staying as confident as she could. She understood the word "donna", which told them they were definitely talking about her, and from what she read about sailors, she knew about some of their myths and superstitions. It didn't take her too long to put two and two together and she tightened her grip on Marcus's hand, for fear of being thrown overboard.

"Nothing's going to happen you, Terryn," Marcus reassured, sensing her fear. "Whatever devastation they think you're going to cause can't possibly be any worse than what they know I'd do if anything happened to you."

"I know, I know..." Terryn put on a brave face, looking back confidently at the sailors staring her down. "Besides, I am probably stronger than most of the men on this ship. If anyone should be in a dress, it should be that boy over there." She grinned as she tilted her chin in the direction of a young, wiry boy who looked as though this was his first voyage as a deck hand.

Well, she really probably wasn't. Sailors tended to be especially strong folk. But Marcus decided he didn't need to tell her that. "He looks about as strong as a toothpick," Marcus agreed, smiling slightly. He used to be that disproportionately lanky, for about a year before his appetite adjusted to his new height.

"Exactly." Terryn nodded firmly, feeling slightly comforted as she glanced over the side of the boat into the water. "How long a journey is it going to be from here?"

Marcus thought for a moment. "Well, we should reach Greece in about four hours, weather permitting. And then we're staying less than an hour from the coast. I should say that we will be married by nightfall," he told Terryn with a smile.

"Nightfall tonight?" Terryn's eyes widened, not necessarily from apprehension, but just from shock at how quickly their plan had been set into action. "So this is our last day single, and we are spending it on a boat with smelly Italians?"

Marcus shrugged. "Well, yes. And then we get to pull into a harbor that smells of salt and fish." He smiled brightly. "You don't mind, I hope."

"Not at all. I quite enjoy the smell of salt and fish." Terryn smiled at him, to show him that she most definitely did not enjoy such a smell but didn't care at all.

"Good." Marcus sat down on a stool and took out his cards once again. "Have you gotten any better at this?"

"I might have." Terryn took a seat and made apoint of ignoring the pointing seamen. "I have not had much time to practice, but my father did buy me a deck."

Marcus nodded. "In that case, I'll disarm you. We'll play a game I learned whilst I was away." He grinned darkly and started shuffling, and the next four hours passed, if not enjoyably, then not in complete boredom.

Terryn eventually had enough of losing. "Alright, I am cheating now." She glanced over at Marcus's hand, switching her worse cards with his better ones. "There we go. I win."

"Where's your sense of sportsmanship?" asked Marcus, looking up and seeing the harbor. It couldn't be more than ten minutes away, and he gathered up the cards. "Fine. I refuse to play."

"That is only because I win." Terryn crossed her legs, a smug, triumphant grin on her face. "It is alright, I understand that it must be rather emasculating to lose to a woman."
