I haven't played any of the Guitar Hero games. Are they worth the price?

The Guitar Hero games are worth the price. The first one took over my life after I first got it. I haven't had a chance to buy the second one yet though...

That takes all of the fun out of it for me, playing the game on the guitar controller is half of the experience.

Meh, I never got it either.
I got frustrated and wanted to pull a Hendrix without the skill.

It's ok it took me a while to get used to the game when I first started playing. The music in the game is what really hooked me at first, who doesn't like Hendrix, or Cream, or Stevie Ray Vaughn, of Blue Oyster Cult, or Black Sabath, or Boston, or Bowie,or the Ramones, or Ozzie,or Black Label Society, or ZZ Top, or Queen, and all of the other great classic rock/metal bands I forgot to mention. (I'm not a fan of most of the newer music in the game, but some of those songs are fun to play)

How would one compare Guitar Hero and it's experience, for one that plays guitar IRL? ^^;;

When I asked a friend who has the game and plays guitar he told me that there not too similar. Playing guitar only helped a bit when trying to play some of the harder songs because he was used to moving his fingers on the fret board faster.
