Marcus smiled at her, his thumb running over his mother's ring. He was almost afraid, he realized, that he would never be this happy again. But that did seem a little much to ask for. Perhaps this was only fair.

Terryn's eyes fluttered closed as she rested against her very soon to be husband, her hand in his. She wasn't sure why she was getting so worked up. After all, it was just a piece of paper. It didn't really change their relationship, except perhaps it made things final. But still, there was something about the thought of running off to be married that intrigued her.

Marcus stretched, shutting his own eyes.
The Duchess looked at the parchment in horror. She had to be dreaming. Nightmaring. This couldn't possibly be true. Even though Marcus's coach and coachman were nowhere to be found, and the two of them had disappeared with their belongings. "What about Tuscany?" she cried aloud, aghast.

It wasn't much of a nap at all. They got to the port within the hour, and the first things that Terryn heard as she awoke were the sounds of sailors shouting orders around the dock.

The coach opened, hesitatingly, and Chester blushed a deep crimson when he bowed to the both of them. Marcus couldn't help but smirk a little at Terryn. "Told you," he mouthed, stepping down from the coach with as much composure as he could muster.

Terryn kept her eyes down, stifling a laugh as she passed by the poor driver. She kept pace with Marcus, leaning slightly to whisper in his ear. "It is your fault. I told you not to do that...thing you do that makes me scream." She grinned cheekily, giving him a wink as she took his hand.

"You didn't sound very convincing," Marcus told her, grinning right back and slipping something heavy into Chester's hand. He saluted the older man and led the both of them to the port, at one point fumbling around in poor Italian to ask for directions.

Terryn had to say that she quite liked Italy, despite the minimal amount of time she spent there. It was the language mostly; it had this melodic sort of tone to it, even when Marrcus attempted it.

At last, they came to a medium sized, clearly new ship. "This must be it," Marcus said, hoisting their bags over his shoulder and tentatively taking a step on the plank leading up to the deck.

Terryn looked around, smiling at the nice condition of the ship. She followed Marcus aboard, a little wary of the strange, though not really lecherous stares of the sailors.

"The ride's only for a few hours," Marcus announced to Terryn. "So if you want to nap, this would be a good time to do so."

Terryn nodded, giving back the evil eyes that the sailors were giving her. She heard whispers of "Donna...sulla barca..." drifting around. IT made her uncomfortable.

Marcus pretended not to hear, and gave Terryn's hand a quick squeeze. "Only a few hours," he repeated. He'd forgotten the sailors and their stupid superstitions. He reminded himself, for the third time, that it was only for a few hours.

Terryn nodded stepping onto the boat. People were still staring at her and muttering to each other. "What are they saying?" She whispered to Marcus, making sure to keep close to him.

"Sailors..." Marcus mumbled vaguely. "They're very superstitious. It's nothing to worry about. Just...stay close."
