"That's true. you are still a ranger, and yes I dislike humans. and a ranger know that you can't afford to pass up food because you don't know when you'll get your next meal. come to think of it, so should a thief. so what's your excuse now?"

flicking her nose just because, before taking a drink from his glass.

"My excuse now? I'm a Lady, I'm always properly provided for when it comes for food. And that's by your own words so there. but are we honestly arguing about how much I eat?" Shaking her head at him before stealing his wine glass with a smirk, finishing off it's contents herself.

"No, they're just talking which is actually a really good thing. Like you said, at least she's talking to someone. And if it has to be Mykorian, then so be it. I think it's good for both of them, personally. It's not everyday things about your past are forced out of you by an overbearing blue drow." Yup, still mad at Malik. "Zykariel's okay? I don't like knowing what he saw..."

"Always looking out for me, aren't you?" Which of course went back to the fact that Malikhai had things involved in his racing pursuits as well but Zykariel knew it and just didn't care. His friend wouldn't do anything to hurt or upset him anyway, not on purpose.

Classes passed relatively swiftly after that, since Zykariel and Malikhai only shared another one together and soon he was hoisting his books and clapping his friend on the shoulder. "Good luck, Khai. Just remember to play it cool and everything should go fine."

She was still sitting in the classroom, discussing something with one of her instructors. She wasn't quite sure about this illusionary stuff and she knew she had to have it down in order to pass her skills test later this year.

She nodded, "That's true. But you know...you don't really have to be lonely now if you don't want to. I mean you've got me and if you stay down here...well, you can have all my siblings and the D'vinn kids too. If you want... if you don't...that's fine too."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 10, 2008 7:33 pm

"Well, that tends to happen around here. And better the boy start dealing with it than trying to pretend that it didn't happen at all and that he can do everything for himself. World doesn't work like that, as much as we may want it to." Shaking his head lightly with a sigh, petting through his son's hair. "Zykariel should be fine...he never handles me being hurt well, but he's always bounced back easily from things with some reassurance."

"Always." Thusly on to paying attention for the day and getting to learn those things that every young elf needed to learn, or so he'd been told. "LUck yes, I'm gonna need it." Thusly waving his friend off and turning his attention to more personal matters of the girl conquesting natures. Thusly onto her class, though it was quite the interesting conversation to be heard. Trouble with illusions hm? Well that was right up his alley. He waited patiently for her to come out, and fell into stride with her. "Illusion trouble hm? You know, I learned a lot of that stuff back home. I could help you some...know the tricks they don't teach here."

"I think I'd like that. I don't think that the others are going to really let me go anyway now that they know how things are. Probably think I'm too young to be on my own and what not. I could always fix up the house down here...and come see you whenever you wanted."

"No, it's not, Sevilin. Stop thinking about your own past for a moment and consider how you'd feel if I died and one of our children would rather not face it. Would you make them or would you give them some time to come to terms with it and be understanding?" Quirking an eyebrow and plopping her hands on her hips, which was probably an amusing picture since she was curled up against the pillows. "I was more thinking of what Malik forced them to see to scare them and get a reaction out of their sibling's bonds. Did he mention any of that?"

She was rather surprised to see him standing there in the hallway and then just embarrassed that he knew of her illusion issues. "Well, yes... I just can't seem to get the picture that I want. My teacher is quite fed up with me and I'm afraid that if I don't grasp what I need to know..." Shaking her head and tapering off. "I suppose you should know now that I'm not very good with magic. I'm really more of a klutz when it comes to it so don't feel bad if you wish to give up on me after a few lessons. Although I would appreciate them very much," she added hastily, not too pleased with where the conversation had gone.

"No, especially not if my parents get involved. They are pretty big on forcing us to have childhoods and stuff. Something about them not having one or something." Shaking her head and shrugging then giving him a grin. "I'd like that. But you'd still be living alone there. Do you like being alone?"

letting her have the cup, raising an eyebrow. that was the really strong stuff. he was being a bit indulgent today himself. how well coudl she hold her wine.

"that's right, your properly taken care of. you just don't utilize it. hence why I poke at you. Enjoy your wine?"

A slight smirk at her, before taking to drumming fingers on the table, and letting her eat for a bit.

"what do you think we should do about that boy? keep him with Galesen?"

"I'm not talking about me. Fact of the matter is that the past can't be changed and you either have to deal with it, or live by it. I'd rather see him not be ruled by what once was. Besides the way he presents himself, he seems to have been on his own for quite a long time. A year at least." Sighing lightly and shifting Kelligrin in his hold. "He didn't mention that too me. Maybe he will when things come to his mind again."

"Illusions can't be taught by everyone, and personally I don't think that instructor has too good a grip. My Illusions Master back home would eat him for breakfast." Grinning at her as they walked, hey this wasn't so hard...then again her friends weren't around. "So you're fumbly with magic, no big deal. Just takes practice and I'd be glad to help. Besides, you can tease me on how I teach."

"I don't like it too much, being alone it tough. But I can't expect anyone else to take care of me. I've taken care of myself...earned my own money and the like. With careful rationing I can makes things last and what not."

"Well I'll utilize it when I feel that I should. I'm sure I'm racking up a nice repayment ticket to cash into sometime here soon. And you poke no matter what." Sipping at the wine again and giving him a flick of gold from her eyes just because. "And I'm enjoying it much." Making sure to clear off what was left on her plate to make him happy before leaning back in her chair, swirling the wine in the glass a moment. "Mykorian? Well...do you think Galesen can take care of a child? Moreso one that needs some resocializing?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:02 pm

"I'm not talking about you, either. I'm talking about a child who is a little hesitant to deal with the fact that both of his parents were taken from him. Give him some time. He's been on his own for a while and probably hasn't even said the words before now. He'll face it in his own time and meanwhile, we can help him adjust to life and whatnot." A year with no parents and that probably meant only the income he had managed to scrape together himself as well. Poor boy. "I'd be much happier to know that it didn't leave a lasting impression on him. I could still kick Malik in certain places for being that stupid."

She laughed, softly, but laughed nonetheless. "I think I might like to see that sometime. He often acts like he is the one and only Illusionist on the plane." Shifting her bag slightly on her shoulder, she fell into step beside him and nodded. "Yes, my mother is quite ashamed of it but I cannot help what is not my talent. You are free to try but also free to give up on me too. I wouldn't want to frustrate you too badly."

"I think being alone is nice when you have the option to be with people. It's when you don't have a choice that being alone really isn't the best." But goodness knew that sometimes she'd give her left ear to just be alone. In a rowdy house of six, that was often asking way too much. "You're not expecting but others want to do that stuff for you. Are you going to deny them what makes them feel good?"

"My point. I don't think he has the...drive, to keep a child like that in a social environment. But I'm willing to keep him in Galesen's care for now."

A small smirk at her flicking of gold, and then just for fun, took some grapes and started tossing them down her shirt.

"So do you have anything planned for today or is this another lounge around day for you?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:57 pm

Uh oh...she was mothering again and this time it wasn't even to her own children. She was a very maternal creature though so it was understandable. But a sigh and he shook his head, "The kids are strong they can handle it. And if they can't they know they can come to us to set things straight...and you always want to kick Malik in certain places regardless of how he is being."

"She's tough, but she gets the job done. Taught me everything I know and apparently that's more than most at my age." Shrugging lightly but then a blink at her particular phrasing. "Ashamed of? It's nothing to be ashamed of. No one is born good at anything, everyone has to learn to be good. And I won't give up on you just because you may get a little frustrating. We all do that from time to time."

"I don't want to make them feel bad, but I don't feel good about letting them take care of me when it's not their place. They have their own things to deal with and I don't want to be a burden. I tried that once already and it didn't fit well. People have their lives set a certain way and just aren't able to add someone else in."

"I think he could do it if he put effort more into being a parent figure rather than being a friend figure. Children need more than a friendly guidance sometimes." Blinking a moment before frowning as a grape made its way down her top and she had to fish it out. It was duly thrown back at him and she set the wine glass on the table. "Well...I was planning on keeping tabs on Dhairiss but it seems mother has that under control already...so that leaves me free to do as I please. Lounge, get into trouble, spend your money...those kinds of things."

"yes, your quite good at spending my vast amounts of money."

A slight chuckle, catching the grap in his mouth and eating it.

"And what kind of trouble would we be planning on? going to take serino out while you climb in trees again so he can knock you out of them?"

yes, malik didn't forget things like that.

"We'll have to see about that boy though. personally, I'm waiting for the fireworks when the attraction between him and Faate gets to big to ignore. that's going to be some fun fireworks."
PostPosted: Tue Feb 12, 2008 3:11 pm

"You always benifit when I do spend the money. And I make my own money too you know. I spend that first before spending yours. You have to have play money as well." Grinning at him as he caught and ate the grape she threw, knowing that he would probably do a such thing just to show off. But then a sigh, "You're never going to let me forget that are you? You and your grudge for trees, it's almost cute but mostly amusing. But you and me usually come up with our own trouble." Propping and elbow on her chair arm, resting her chin on the back of her hand as she watched him. "And you're like a fresh warrior in a storehouse of swords when it comes to all this matchmaking business...for someone who started off as wholly mean and grumpy, I'm surprised such things are such a focus for you. You didn't even like it when I made you feel all funny inside."

He believed that much but she wasn't so sure she did. Truthfully, it wasn't her belief that her children couldn't handle such things but more her wish that they'd never have to. The one thing she and Sevilin had both agreed on was that their children would never have to go through anything close to what they had. Perhaps that led her to be a little more protective than some but she didn't want her children to get hurt, physically, emotionally or mentally. "That is our job, isn't it? To make everything okay for them. I'm just afraid that this time there's nothing we can really do."

Kaelin turned to look at him, an odd light sparkling in her red eyes. Twisting one of her fingers into her long silver hair, she gave him a smile. "You really believe that, Malikhai? Natural ability seems to run in you and Zykariel's family. I remember when he first came to school and scared everybody." Shaking her head and reaching out to lightly take his hand to stop him and turn him to face her. "Do you promise? No matter how frustrating I get? Even if...sometimes I tell you no?"

Faate blinked for a moment as she digested this new information and turned to face him. "You stayed with somebody once before? Who, Mykorian and how come you felt like a burden? Did they tell you that or something?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 12, 2008 5:12 pm

"Sometimes we're not supposed to be able to do anything. As their parents we're supposed to protect them from everything that's wrong...but sometimes they have to learn things on their own as well without us. We just have to hope they're things that they will overcome and if they need a little help then they will come to us."

"Zykariel's family is strong in magic. Not so much mine. My mother barely uses any if at all and my father's is very specialized. And when we were little Zykariel used to not be able to control his magic. He'd have little outbursts where I'd usually end up getting bumped around or stuff broke. His power is nothing too much to be afraid of, but why afraid, was he showing off?" Blinking and looking down at their hands as he stopped, watching her fingers in his a moment before turning a grin up to her. For someone that presented herself so strongly, she seemed so insecure without the pack of ravenous wolves that were her friends. "I promise, even if you tell me no. After all, only you know the limits of your body and I wouldnt want to push you harder than you needed."

"Some friends of the family on the surface. They took me in when it first happened...I only stayed a few months with them. I always felt pushed away into a corner you know? They had kids of their own and I just wasn't one of them. They never treated me badly or anything...but I didn't like feeling like I was there just because they owed it to my parents. Besides, I kinda scared the other kids anyway."

"Only because I find it amusing. and I know you spend your money before you spend mine. and I'm not playing matchmaker with those two. they already are matchmaking themselves. I'm just waiting for the fatherly and motherly and brotherly fun when they realize it."

mimicing her pose, and smirking lightly.

"Or trouble usually finds us."
