The Lag Monster was a ferocious beast that preyed on the DC for quite a while. The DC was down for like... what, 4 or 5 days? And then after that, it was horribly slow and laggy, and TJ was having one problem after another, and no one could get to their scrolls, there were no eggs, then once you could get there you couldn't breed your eggs or get new ones for like 2 weeks... if you look around the forums, I'm sure you can find a pic of the Lag Monster.

Willa posted a pic of the lag monster....and someone made a bunch of icons for it too. It was priceless.
But seriously you guys, stop crashing dragcave...there's too many of us in there. blaugh

I was beginning to wonder if these problems were just my computer or what. sweatdrop Decided to come here to see if it was. I am a little relieved that it isn't just my computer though. ^^; I hope that nothing happens to my eggs and hatchlings during this time.

No, there's nothing wrong with your comp. TJ (cave creator) has had server problems before this because of the Cave's excessive popularity. The past servers couldn't handle the people numbers coming to it. TJ had hoped this current would do better, but alas, it seems to have crumbled under the pressure.
As for our eggs and babies, TJ has credited back the time lost while the Cave is down. I'd expecting him to do so this time as well.
As for the lag monster, I'm going to look through my photobucket pics and see if I can find the image again. biggrin

For those of you who aren't members of the DragCave, here's TJ's comments about the site being down...Posted: Jul 20 2009, 02:52 PM, on DragCave News Forum TJ09 Of course, the site goes down while I'm on a road trip and don't have easy internet access, and of course no one bothers to tell me about it under the assumption that I already know, but... The site is down. I contacted my host, and received the following reply: SERVER HOST We do not see any problems on our site nor do we have any network related problems. Also your up link port did show activity over the last 12h and still does. Please be advised that we don't monitor your server for any hardware or software related problems. If you like us to reboot your server let us know or advice otherwise. To which I replied: TJ09 I guess a reboot would be helpful. However, I would like to point out that I attempted connecting to and pinging the server from 3 separate locations on 3 different ISPs and failed on all 3. In addition, in a chat room of about 44 users, none of them reported the ability to access any site hosted on the server. In addition to that, the SiteUptime.com quick check reports the server as being down: http://www.siteuptime.com/users/quickcheck...eId=1&Locations[1]=on&Locations[2]=on&Locations[4]=on&Action=Check I can access the server, but it appears that there may be some database corruption and some dragons. Generally, those with codes beginning with (case-sensitive) w, x, y, and z that were stolen after May 01 (about 1% of dragons) may be lost. No other data was damaged. I'll update this post when I know more, but for now I'm going to keep the site down so I can check everything thoroughly.

Also check your scrolls, folks.
Seems like the Lag Monster had fun rearranging my dragons on it. I custom edit mine and several of them are not where I had arranged them. *sigh* And I have 200+ dragons on scroll. Oh, well. Guess I know what I'll be doing this afternoon. neutral

Hi guys... Yay for dragcave being back up again... Although I somehow had a full grown spring dragon die, but that was all... Oh, and a few things were out of place too...

I was worried for a moment about one of my transparent eggs and my cheese egg but found them later on. *sigh of relief* Other than that the only thing out of place was one of my adult dark green dragons was out of place.

*Stares at the blank spots where her white stripe hatchling and her Ochre Eggling used to be* crying crying crying crying crying I had been dreading this last night and this morning when the Cave was still down... at least I didn't have to dig graves for my babies... cry
I got new eggs to replace the ones I have lost. ^_^ heart

It has been confirmed. There are different sprite pictures for the tiny/pygmy dragons. The second stage hatchlings that look like they are sitting up on their hind legs are the males (DW_08 has one) and the second stage hatchlings that stood up on all fours and seems to be looking around are the females (Jiral has one).
