I'm cramping a lot (though not as bad as usual) and getting hot flashes as if I'm on my period, but I haven't started bleeding yet. This is only the second day of my placebo week on my first pack of BC. Does anyone know if this is normal? My friend said that something similar happened to her on her first period after she started her birth control, but I didn't have this problem the last time I was taking BC for my PCOS and I'm wondering if it's abnormal.

I'm not a doctor but I think it sounds pretty normal. My period can take 3-4 days to kick in after I start placebo week... or it can start if I miss a pill by a few hours. It's hard to tell 'cause each girl is different and reacts differently to each medication. But I wouldn't worry, especially if it's your first pack in awhile. Strange things often seem to happen in those first few packs.
Still, my body is fickle, so maybe I'm used to being "abnormal" if that's the case. Maybe some other girls' opinions would be better, hehe.
Also... *hugs Reddy intensely for all the Zelda temple music in her playlist*

i would say go see a vag doctor just to be sure, but they tend to say "give it 3 months" with any new medication. so i would wait it out unless s**t gets really severe and not just peculiar.

I'm not personally familiar with BC, but from what I've heard that is somewhat normal when you start up or in your case start up again. Though from what you describe, that's kind of what happens to me right before I start to bleed, which is one of my giant neon signs to make sure I'm stocked up on the Midol hehe. I'd say to give it some time, and if it does get to be really bad, like extremely more painful than you're normal to, then definitely go in to the doctor. Otherwise, try some cool towels for the flashes and some nice mild teas for the cramps. That helps me a ton. 3nodding Ugh I miss my old desktop and my tablet...I miss drawing so much. crying

Since I started taking BC, I start the placebo week on Sunday and I start my actual period on Thursday. Since this is your first month, I wouldn't be too concerned--your body isn't used to having a schedule imposed upon it. If you're really concerned, you can call your pharmacist and see what s/he thinks.

I was planning on waiting a few days before getting seriously freaked, and I plan on calling my doctor if it persists this way. Mostly I'm just used to cramping and suddenly bleeding (and getting my period more than once a month hurr hurr), so it not bleeding is just really strange to me and it's wigging me out maaaan. And I mean...the fact that it feels just like my period in every other sense (cramps, hot flashes, back pains, etc.) except for the important part that means my body is doing it's job right. I just wanted to see if this is a common thing or not. And it sounds like it is, so I'm less bothered by it I guess. XD
@Aivi - I recently got a new phone and my text message sound is the Small Item Catch track from the OoT soundtrack. And my friend and I are running through OoT again. X3

*seconds what everyone says about BC* Yeah, my period generally doesn't start until three days after I start taking the placebo pills. It seems like a pretty normal deal, from the other girls I know who take it too.
Wow, WA is reeeaaally warm. x.x I want my central coast of CA breeze!
...but it's good to see my parents after so long. =)

I think it was like 98 or something over here (basically in Idaho), but still - I'm used to 75 being hot, so I'm half dead.

It's funny because my friends from Hawaii are sitting here complaining about the heat too. They really should suck it up though, it's only 87 or so and cools off every night. 72 is perfect for me, but I don't mind it if it's in the mid 80's or so. Just means I'll probably want to sit in the shade, but it's not really uncomfortable.

I just road-tripped to Portland on the week of a heat wave, apparently, and it was about 100+ degrees each day. The worst was Wednesday at 106.
I was too determined not to let that ruin my trip, though, and proceeded to walk around and bask in the outdoors like it was 80.
...We even went hiking on one of those days, hahaha.

I don't think I have the words to describe just what I'm feeling right now.

I don't know about your friends but I know even if it got hot there was still always lovely trade winds so you didn't really ever feel too hot. I never had to use ac at all, just open some windows and turn the fans on. Unlike here, where it's all hot and muggy and absolutely no winds at all. Ugh, I miss Kauai...I wanna go hooooome! ;-;

Hooray for roadtrips! I left my house at 4am on Saturday and drove up to Davis to pick up my best friend, and then we drove through the rest of CA and through all of Oregon to up above Spokane, where we're at right now. =) We went kayaking yesterday, and I think we'll probably go again later in the week. ...I really miss my boy, though. ._.

...
My memory and Deja Vu has crossed a threshold that is making me feel insane.
Didn't that happen a few days ago?...
...nope, it doesn't fit into that continuum. It hasn't happened yet.
