"I see your point. how about this then. since Malikhai is taking more public schooling and is probably going to start becoming more interested in friends and girls anyway, I'll start spending more time with Dhairiss. I don't want him to feel neglected, or that I don't care."

A small frown.

"I doubt there's any resentment. in fact, as he gets older, he'll probably appreciate that he's not the first born. there's more pressure on malikhai to succeed simply because of that."

A slight grin.

"you're worrying a bit too much, I think. but it's understandable."

"Right." Plopping down at the table and witing patiently for Galesen to set down food. He seemed a tad confrontational at the moment, but hey it was expected wasn't it? He was in a brand new enviroment and it was happening so fast. "Thanks." Thusly taking to quietly eating, trying to remember he didn't need to wolf down his food this timeand thus remember hsi manners.

He managed a light smile at her as her fingers traced along his face. "She will...she thinks she's smarter than to be fooled. But this wasn't simple illusionary work. We just need to talk to her." Idly flexing his fingers some, trying to get some feeling back to them. "I'm not expecting you to be...you're allowed to break down. You are their mother after all. Me...I've been through worse. I can barely feely anything and I'm anemic in both blood and energy, but that will balance out. This funny things with my eyes will take a few days though to clear up." Yes indeed that was perhaps the only remaining telling sign of his runic stress, the whites of his eyes were blood red, almost completely matching his iris from where the veins in his eyes had reptured from the stress.

"Fair enough." Maybe it would bring the child out of his little quiet sit around patiently habit. It was too patiently for her liking. Malikhai never held still for a moment whether someone was paying attention to him or not. "Resentment for your attention, not because his brother is first born." Admittedly...Piper also had less time to herself. Keely wasn't around constantly anymore...though Piper had let her do that. The girl needed her own life too. But before Malik would be the one to take the kid off her hands for a few hours to herself. She got little of that these days. "You always think I worry too much." Shaking her head lightly and tucking a few strands of hair behind her ear. "Surface elf showing again, hm?"

It was a little creepy to see him like that and she tried to avoid his gaze for that very reason. There was nothing she could do to fix that little aspect of his overexertion, not that he'd let her anyway. "I will. Probably later tonight when everything has calmed down and everyone is in bed. If I'd been given a chance after they were taken, I likely already would have." Dropping a kiss on her son's cheek though he barely stirred. "I just wish Malik had killed her even though he couldn't because of that deal. I don't like knowing she's still out there and could strike Vesendar or another area... And truthfully, it's really hard for me to come to terms with the fact that the thing that tried to tear my family apart and hurt my children still breathes with little difficulty and will not be dead anytime soon."

"the good mother in you is showing."

He walked over to her, and ran a hand through her hair, and gave her a kiss.

"resentment for my attention, maybe but I'll do my best to not let that happen. not to mention, you could use some time to yourself on occasion. especially since you can't depend on having Keely around like you should. you do give her a tad bit too much freedom."

Looking at his youngest son, and deciding to pry him away from Piper a bit, though keeping right by her.

"and you...we'll fix what happened to you. Nobody hurts your mom, especially me. your grandmother would flay me if I even thought about it."

He looked away from her with a sigh, turning his eyes to the nearest something or other to at least keep himself occupied. "Well...when you do, you know I'll be right here for you." Reaching over and brushing a hand through her hair. "Sometimes it's best not to take vengence on your enemy. Even if we hate ourselves for not doing so. But I think anything that Malik has his eye on is safe. Malikhai goes to school in Vesendar, so I think it'll be fine."

Shaking her head lightly and turning a look up to him, giving a soft smile. "Keely has to have her own lift too...she's only human and she'd done her fair share for me since she was a child. She's an adult now, and she's not a slave." Watching as Malik attempted at his son, whom wasn't so happy at being taken away but she remained where she sat and knew it was better to not try and intervene at the moment.

He struggled somewhat at first, giving an upset noise as he was pulled from his mother, little hand slipping off her collar which made him more upset. But he really wasn't in the condition to protest too long with his little body in weakened state from trauma it had been undergoing both mental and physical. Thus he settled for trying to hide behind his hands as his father held him. "No hurt mommy. I'll be good." Though...daddy hadn't gone after mommy yet.

"Not for much longer, he doesn't. It was only an experiment to begin with anyway." Shaking her head and muttering something under her breath. She wasn't happy with the current situation and there was something nagging at her telling her that letting this thing live and wreak devastation on another was not a good idea. With nothing to be done to stop it...well there was nothing more to be done. "I hope you're right. I refuse to have my kids taken from me again because Malik didn't put down the threat the first time. I don't even fully have my children back. Faate won't talk to me and Kelligrin is so tired he's not in reverie but is completely unresponsive. Zykariel's emotions are jumping all over the place because of what happened to you. Lyssie is the only semi-normal one right now and even she's having issues because no one will tell her what happened and she's pouting over not being able to go."

A slight frown. well that wasn't good...so he took his son and pulled up a chair by his wife, setting him on his lap.

"have you ever seen your older brother make things appear real, that aren't real, Dhairiss?"

might as well start with that. see if he could show his son that was all an illusion, a fake. Though he knew that his son would prefer especially right now being by his mother.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 29, 2008 7:28 pm

"They're just unsettled is all..how about you and Kelligrin get some rest and I'll deal with Faatallon and Zykariel. Maybe a little food will help Kel too. Always makes me feel better. They probably need some things set straight as well." Pressing a kiss to her temple and getting up, fetching a tunic from the every present supply of things they had at Twilight, completely ignoring the chainmail right now and just looking for comfort. Thusly first it was off to go visit his son...if anything he needed to know that Sevilin was going to be alright so the boy wouldn't stress. Coming to the room his son used when at Twilight, he gave a knock at the door, "Zykariel?"

Instinct made him curl up on his father's lap and turn his head into soft fabric of his tunic to again pull the 'if I can't see you, you can't see me logic somewhat. But little blue tipped ears twitched at the oh so familiar voice he had been hearing since before he was even born. One hand reached out to mommy and he gave a frustrated noise when she let him catch hold to two fingers, but nothing more than that. Thusly muffled talking against Malik, "He's mean with it." He didn't like his brother's illusions...things that were fun were never really there.

If he were a little bit younger, she'd let the little boy nurse and bring back that connection that would make her feel a lot better at the very least. But he wasn't really a baby anymore and she wondered if that might set him back in terms of his walking and talking as well. Ordering a small plate of food for him to pick off of and her to eat as well, she settled back against the bed and began talking to him as she fed him little pieces. Mostly nonsensical stories, just something so he could hear her voice and know he was safe.

He was reclined against the foot of his bed, one knee up with his elbow resting on it, playing a relaxed version of wall-ball with his other hand. Catching the green glowing ball, he turned his head to the door and cleared his throat. "Yeah?" He knew better than to leave it at that and he waited a moment, letting the energy ball bounce against the wall again. "Come on in, Dad."

She was wandering aimlessly, moving with no real destination in mind and not even paying attention to where she was or who she was passing. Servants had to dart out of her way because she wasn't moving for them. Her steps carried her to the dining room and she found herself sitting down and linking her fingers beneath her chin and leaning her head on them.

He opened the boy's door, coming in and shutting it behind him as well looking over to his son and then brushing his hand through his bangs to make them fall more fully into his eyes somewhat to obscure them. Would probably really upset the boy or creep him out. "How are you doing?" Watching the boy playing that little game with the energy ball and keeping his distance for the moment. Teenagers were into that distance thing and well...he never knew these days how things were between him and his son.

He'd been prepared for one of his parents to make the rounds and ensure that everything was okay in his world. He'd half expected his mother to be the one to come see him since she still liked to treat him like a little boy more often than not. "Okay, I guess." The bouncing picked up the pace a bit since his father was in the room and he studied the bricks for a few moments in silence. "Hey Dad, think fast." Thus flinging the ball of energy towards his father and watching out of the corner of his eye. Lame attempt to break the ice but he was a teenager and teenagers didn't outwardly try to engage parents in conversation.

Even better.

"that...person you thought was your mother was using an illusion. it was fake. she did that to make you scared, to make you not want to leave her. Have you ever seen me do anything to hurt mom before that? or even give you the idea that I would hurt mom?"

or a closer example.

"you think mom would let me hold you if I was mean to her, or if I might be mean or hurtful to her or you?"

Think fast indeed. He flung up a hand and caught that energy ball, but only held it a few seconds before it gave a sharp spark and burst into lack of existance as Sevilin shook his hand in that pained way others did though he hadn't made a noise to indicate any pain at all. Obviously though the boy wasn't going to be doing too much talking. "Just okay?" Walking over to his son and resting a hand on his shoulder. "I don't mean to upset you. But sometimes we have to give our all to help others."

He shook his head defiantly. No that was mommy. She felt like mommy. Khai had told him that there were some things that couldn't be made to fool you, like bonds. That's how he would know who his brother was if there were more than one of him around. "You yell at mommy." It was true, he had been witness to a few of his parents fights and well...if anyone knew Malik and Piper when they fought they got quite loud. Malik had never made motion to hit her, but to a toddler, yelling was enough. Yelling could lead to hitting.

But he was still hiding his face even if he wasn't sure that it was helping. Mommy wasn't helping either and it was highly upsetting. "She's scared too." Which means if mommy was scared of daddy and daddy wanted to hold him, well then daddy got to hold him.

He frowned as his father destroyed his ball of energy and created a new one, throwing it against the wall again. "Yup, A-okay." Catching the ball again, his motions ceased as a hand rested on his shoulder and his body slumped. "I know," he said quietly. "But that doesn't make it any less traumatizing. For me or Faate." Shaking his head. "I don't like what happened in there anymore than you but it's not okay for me to see you like that. I...can't handle it." And that sucked because he was supposed to be a big bad teenager who didn't care and he'd hit his knees and cried like a baby.

It wasn't that he had destroyed it...but more of he couldn't handle it right now. His son's power level was sitting higher than his right now and it was just an overload. Sevilin gave a light sigh...it was going to be another one of those times where he didn't know how to deal with his son. Moving to sit on the edge of the bed as Zykariel was sitting near the foot, he tried to think of how to approach this. "I know it doesn't...that's why I try not to do it around you all. Even when you were a toddler." The odd part was him and his son never really...talked about that brief three year period where Zahara was in and out. Sometimes he thought his son tried to forget it. "You're not supposed to be able to handle it son. It's just something a rune mage lives with and grows accustomed to. No one else can ever understand how they do it to themselves, but the weilder themselves." He honestly didn't know what he was supposed to do...apologize? "If anything ever happened to me...you'd be okay. It'd hurt a while, but I know you'd be okay."
