"I assure you, your bodyguard won't be seen. or heard unless absolutely needed. the only people that will have knowledge of it will be the person running the school, and you boys. both of you are talented and well trained for most any situation...but this mystery annoyance has managed to bypass many of our defenses so far, and eludes capture. I'd rather err on the side of caution at the moment."
a glance at his son for a moment.
"There's something else though. I don't know if it'll come up, but might as well address it. don't blend schoolwork with politics. no name dropping, and no allowing authorities in the school to bribe you with better marks or skipping tests and the like as 'personal favors' for who you are. if you get offers, tell them either to see me or your mother, or a simple not interested. while you do come from nobility, and that is worth a great deal of respect and influence, trust me when I say using your name for special favors will come back to bite you quicker than you could imagine in a social setting such as a school."

"At least I have the vote of confidence on my side." Not that he was still to sure. After all, some things about his family were no secret. Like what his mother was and the like...he knew he had lots of teasing potential and what not that bordered on disrespectful or cruel...but he'd been cleared on beating the snot out of people for that one. A nod to his father though as he continued to dispense advice, petting through Kerick's mane much to the creatures delight as he walked along behind his mother. "Right, no mixing politics and school...I don't think I'd want to have things made easy for me anyway. There's no pride in everything being handed to you on a silver platter."
Setting things down for the moment he nodded, heading off to the stairs. "Girls! Come down for dinner now and wash up!" Back into the kitchen with him he leaned against the counter on his hip and stripped off his tunic to just chainmail beneath, examining the slice in his skin on his upper arm that was still oozing blood. "Where's Zykariel?" Taking hold of a rag and wetting it, wiping at the injury...hm, where had that come from? Clean slice too.

Okay so he was more or less excluded from the conversation right there, wasn't he? Malik and Malikhai had very different ideas about some things than he did. He let the conversation flow without saying anything and kept Destyny moving along behind them. Hm, it was about dinnertime.
Zahara set a small plate down on Kelligrin's tray and handed him a fork and a cup with no lid. "No spilling." She listened to the sound of feet overhead, letting the girls handle themselves and settle into their seats. Strolling into the kitchen, she picked up the casserole dishes and set them on the table then frowned. "He's at the D'vinn's. I don't know if he's eating with us tonight or not but I've set him a plat just in case. What happened?"

"Good."
Wheeling Ramoth back around.
"So...it's about time for dinner for everyone I imagine. Zykariel, you eatting with us or are you heading home? either way I think we need to contact your parents on it."
though a look at both of them.
"At least now we have a good setup. you can keep Zykariel's nose to the grindstone, and he'll help you with your social skills. I think it'll work out just fine."

"Food sounds really good right about now." Rolling his eyes to his father's words, though not in direspectful manner. "We'll just have to see won't we? Meanwhile...last one back home has to untack adn stable horses." Giving Kerick a snap of reins and a kick that sent the armor zephmare into a full on gallop, kicking up wind in the wake of hooves over stone. Hey he didn't want the losing condition too bad...there was a good chance it was going to be him.
"Long as he eats." Hm, it stung a little. Then again he was poking at it too so that was probably something that he shouldn't be doing. "Hm? Oh, I don't know. Didn't notice it until we came back...probably just brushed up against something." Wiping at the spot again before setting down the rag and moving over to take his seat at the table, resting his tunic on the back of his chair for the moment. "Happens."

Zykariel rolled his eyes. The adults were always harping at him on his stupid schoolwork and it really was a pointless pursuit. Was there a reason they woudln't leave him alone about it? He was too smart for half of the crap they kept throwing at him. He said nothing to his uncle but took that challenge, spurring Destyny forward and racing back to the D'vinn's. His parents knew the drill by now but if someone wanted to call them, that was fine by him.
"He will. Kariel never skips a meal if he can help it." He didn't know? What in the world? She watched him move over to his seat and crouched slightly studying the clean slice. "Like what, Sevilin? You were at the market for the sake of the gods." But she left it alone and walked to her own seat, plopping the casserole on each plate along the way. The adults were allowed to get their own and things would progress as normal.

Malik shook his head lightly, and patted Ramoth on the neck.
"Well...can't let the young bucks show you up, can we?"
and Ramoth reared and bolted at impressive speed. while the distance wasn't great, it would be close. Destyny and Kerick we're as trained more for racing, Ramoth was trained for battle. charges and retreats meant you had to be fast, and you had to be strong. she could hold her own in a race. in fact, in long races, she'd probably win due to being trained to endure the longer traveling distances as a mount of war.

But yeah it ended much as he thought it would. Destyny was trained for racing and well...Kerick didn't want to upstage his mother so it was last for him. He didn't mind too much and after putting tack away it was inside for them. But a punch in the arm for Zykariel. "So you staying with us tonight or not? We can cause some mass havoc before you have to pep talk me for a school day." Walking backwards and watching his friend and his father with a grin...there was something exciting about it.
"Nail? Someone's armor? It's full of people and crowded, and I was busy watching Kelligrin. You know these things happen and I don't know it until it's long past." Thusly tending to his food more out of habit than out of hunger by this point. Though a frown passed his features for a second before he looked down the table at his wife. "Have there been any vendors selling amber down here lately?" After all...usually that was something Malik had control of via Andal supply and Zahara usually had something or other of it around. Maybe he was overreacting.

"I suppose I can hang out at your house. My parents pretty much know the drill by now anyway. Besides, you and I have all sorts of things to discuss, least of all Kaelin." Shaking his head and stabling Destyny with the others since there were horse thieves out still and he wasn't risking his baby for anything.
His near inability to feel pain had never bothered her before but this time it did. She couldn't quite place it but the children obviously sensed something was wrong because conversation was pretty much nonexistant around the table. Even Kelligrin ate quickly, refraining from banging on his tray or throwing food and drink. She quirked an eyebrow and shook her head, "Not that I've been able to find. I'll just dash off a letter to Isle with some coins and whatnot and she'll be happy to get me something new. Anything in particular you want?"
Kelligrin chose that moment to perk up and pointed to his mother's neck where indeed an amber necklace rested. "Pretty!" It was almost like the one he'd seen at the marketplace that Daddy hadn't let him get a closer look of. Banging his feet, he pointed again. "Daddy! Pretty."

"Alright then, we'll set everything up then for you to join and I'll let your mother know you haven't been eaten by anything. NOw you two can go talk about whatever it is you want to talk about, and then be down for dinner in around fifteen minutes. and no tormenting Keely, or pumping her for information on how to deal with girls, Malikhai, after Zykariel's gone."
before back to the kitchen area with him to get the table setup for the extra person.

He wrinkled his nose lightly. Were they going to talk about her again? Sometimes it seemed whenever she was brought up his lack of social skills seemed ampified. "Fair enough. Might as well." Nodding to his father then, "We'll be down." Before a blink, "She'd just cuff me." And thus off following after his friend.
Dhairiss was sitting on the table, him and piper still where Malik had left them at the table and they were apparently going over his counting numbers. In surface elvish no less. But a pause to sideglance her husband. "I take it Zykariel is staying?"
"No. Was just wondering." Flashing her that look that said they'd talk when the children weren't around because just maybe they could get upset or bothered by the information. But then the attention was focused on Kelligrin which prevented an awkward silence. "Yes I see, mommy is very pretty."

Okay...so obviously there was something more to this than she realized and he was giving her that look that she interpreted and merely gave a smile to her youngest, reaching over and ruffling his hair. "Thank you Kelli. You're very cute, you know. Now, eat for me little one." It didn't take long for dinner to finish up and she sent the girls upstairs and set Kelligrin in his playpen so he could play as she and Sevilin tackled dishes. "Do you really believe it was a nail or something like that or do you believe it was something else, Sev?"

Mmm cleaning, it always put him at ease. But the conversation that was starting may put him off some more. "Could of been...I don't jump to conclusions. I'm more worried about how I momentarily felt and thought I smelled. It's something from when I was little really...I remember that the smell of amber used to comfort me...you know that smell that you can get off the oil and the like. I can't seem to recall exactly why but it did. It was specific too...mixed with something I could never quite name. And I haven't smelled it since I left Andal even more so since I was still young. But today...it popped up on me again. Made my head almost swim a moment." Shaking his head with a sigh. "Then again I haven't been myself too much lately, maybe I'm over analyzing things."

"Yes, and we'll tell his parents as usual. I don't think the boy has the idea in his head yet that the reason they don't go looking for him is because one of us always contacts them when he's here. So, how is everything here, no disasters while me and the boys were out?"

"I'm sure he assumes that they assume he's here and alright if they don't feel he's in trouble." Letting Dhairiss do his counting using her fingers, putting one up to let him touch as he continued to count in off accented surface elvish. "No disasters. We're just going over our counting numbers. We're up to fifty now." Which was new because the child had only been up to thirty by the time they had finished last time, in any language at that.. Little elves, they learned quick. "I take it you didn't go out an conquer anything?"
