She'd been able to make a hit! Although she hadn't hit him with her fork as she'd planned, she'd still managed to ram him with her shield. Cai felt a flow of thankfulness seep through her veins as he fell back, landing on his injured arm. Cai had been moving too fast to stop Date from tripping her, so she fell over, smacking the back of her head against the ground. She rolled off and then quickly pushed herself back up, ignoring the smarting that was throbbing at the back of her head. Her entire body was sore, and that bullet wound that she'd gotten earlier was starting to feel like it was going to reopen soon. She was already covered in blood, her own, but also others', Japanese and Chinese alike. She didn't know what was worse: The smell or the sensation of the blood creeping down her skin like eels.

Xing Cai focused her attention on Date, who despite being in major pain from landing on his broken arm and bleeding again was still standing up. But it didn't look like he could see properly: his eye was watering. That would definately blurr up his vision. Then he yelled out something that sounded like pure gibberish to her, but she knew that he meant that he would not back down. Moving forward she moved her fork out, knocking the gun that the enemy officer had dropped on the ground in a small fit on anger so he wouldn't be able to reach for it again. Then she looked over at him and pointed her fork at him, taking a few steps closer to him.

"Please leave." Xing Cai begged, her voice still remaining the same calm note that it held but also one of desperation. "This battle has lasted long enough! Haven't enough people died these past two days for you to be satisfied?" In an attempt to make Date understanding what she was saying Cai made a motion towards the dead that were around them and then jerked her fork out over to where he and his army had come from. Then she moved it back to pointing it at Date, moving just a single foot forward to get a bit closer. "If you refuse, then I will show you no mercy. But please think!" Now Cai motioned towards his broken arm. "You need medical attention. Please leave and go take care of yourself and your men!"

Date shook his head to try to shake the haze away. His eye would not stop watering but he could see out of it to some degree now. His opponent began to speak to him as she pointed her fork in all sorts of directions. "You.... you think you have won? You think you can force defeat on me?" He began muttering in a quivering, angry voice. He watched her point her fork at a dead soldier. He understood what she meant. Many people had died, she was probably begging to end it. After all, the person who loses this fight loses the battle. "No... you will not force this on my by pretending that death is not a glorious end for a soldier." He stuck his sword into the ground again and quickly reached back to grab his second pistol. With a grin he quickly pointed it at one of the nearby Chinese soldiers and pulled the trigger. The bullet ripped through the man's head and he fell dead on the ground.

"Death is not a reason to end a battle!" He holstered his pistol and grabbed his sword as he rushed forward. "I don't need a gun to defeat someone as soft hearted as you!" He slashed out horizontally, aiming to strike her in the head, if not at least knock her fork away for a more convenient attack.

Such rage. Such violence. So much blood.

Too much death.

Another one of her soldiers fell dead, shot in the head by Date. Then he put his gun away and proceeded to rush at her, yelling something out. There was no more time! With a painful emotion mixing through her veins Xing Cai threw her mercy aside, shifting her stance as he came. The look in her eyes changed, emptying themselves as she swallowed once and then released what was left of her wanting to let Date go. This was what he wanted, then let it be so! She would show her first true opponent the honor that he deserved!

His sword came out, moving to hit her head. She bent down as it came towards her while tilting her head away from it, but since he was so short she wasn't able to do so fast enough. The sword cracked up against her head, but thanks to moving her head she was able to lessen the pain of the impact. Then she pushed off of the ground, aiming her fork upwards at Date's center. Her head throbbed, the pain lasting more than usual inside of her skull. She'd hit it more times than she'd wanted to during this battle, all of them close calls.

'If you don't want anymore mercy from me... then none will be given!' Her mind raged, her jaw tightened from the feelings that swept through.

He rolled to the side, using the momentum of the impact of his sword on her head to push off and try to avoid her attack. Unfortunately one of the tines on her fork pierced it's way into his side, missing anything important, but cuting a nice good gash in his waist on the left side, just under his rib and his disabled arm. Landing off to the side he reached for his sword's hilt and pressed a firm wooden button. A click was hear and the main wood body of the blade of his bokken slid down, revealing a gleaming blade of metal underneath. He shook the disguised sheathe off of his sword and prepared for another attack. "My next blow will be fatal!" He silently spoke as he dashed forward into a combat roll then into a vertical upward slash at her body. His pain didn't slow him down much and his blade was much quicker and far more deadly than before.

((I just had to work a real sword into this somehow... Date from SW2 has a real sword so I figured I'd use the ol' hidden blade in a bokken trick here.))

{{Cool! =D}}

Another hit. Cai had managed to make a gash in his side. As she passed by himself she ducked and rolled, turning her body so she could face Musamune again. He was gone! Then she spotted a small brown-green blur heading strait for her at the bottom of her vision. A pale moon lit-like glow also mixed with the blur. It was a sword! She jumped back and let out a startled cry of pain as the katana drew blood from her side as it traveled up. She barely landed on her feet, feeling a touch of cool air touch her skin. The sword had gone up, cutting through the side of her top to where the bottom part of it flapped dully in the air. Blood dribbled out in soft drops from where the sword had kissed her side, staining her skin and made her skin feel chilled as the minor wind brushed up against it.

Xing Cai's body shuddered lightly but she simply ignored it, knowing that she couldn't pay attention to it or else she would end up losing her life. She moved her shield to cover up the side that was directly next to Date, rolling off to a side and then coming back up in a crouch. She'd already charged at him too many times, and with this sword he'd be faster and be able to counterattack faster and knock her off balance. No, she would need to try something new!

Cai swung her fork horizontally at Date's feet in an attempt to trip him while moving her weapon forward to try and get his sword tangled in the two prongs that stuck out. She'd been taught how to disarm her opponent, or at least she'd taught herself, but everything was always different during practice....

Blood flew off of his sword from the successful attack. Or at least he thought it was successful until he turned to see her roll to the side. He had cut her indeed, but it was not a mortal wound and now she was attacking. He watched her move her fork horizontally towards his feet so he jumped up to avoid it. The fork caught his sword between the tines and moved it sideways, but the simple smooth design of his sword made it easy for him to pull it out before he could lose it. He landed in front of her and with his landing he brought his blade up and began a downward slash for her forehead. He would need to hit her with the apex of his swing if he wanted to cut clean through for his strength was beginning to waver due to loss of blood from both his arm and his side.

He was so fast! His sword was too thin and she couldn't disarm him. Instead he was easily to just pull his sword out from her small tangle, forcing her to pull her fork back. Then Date landed almost right in front of her and made a slash for her forward, making her instintively jerk her head back. She felt the blade almost gently pass over her skin, just barely skimming it. She stumbled backwards and then regained balance, drawing her shield up protectively over herself while watching as pieces of her hair fell to the ground. That had been too close. Now there was a thin crimson line traveling upwards on her forward, a small drop of blood leaking down and traveling down her nose. She could actually feel a mark on her chin. A chilling sensation ripped itself forcefully through her body, so shocked by the small escape that she'd been able to make.

'Grab a hold of yourself.' A voice in her head commanded, making her regain her senses. 'Look, he's starting to get weak.'

'But I am as well....' Cai thought to herself as her brow weaved together. This battle had to end soon. And it most likely would. Both of them were losing blood, but Cai had a small advantage because she'd only been hit at her side. Date had been too, but his arm added onto his blood loss.

Xing Cai backed-up and then started moving forward, charging. Then she suddenly pushed herself off to a side, moving off to the side and then stabbing her two prongs into the ground in front of her. She then tightened her grip on her fork and pushed up, swinging herself forward with her foot out to kick Date.

"She... she's so... slow....." Date said to himself with short breath. He was extremely upset at the fact that he was unable to perform at his optimal potential. He watched her lunge forward using her fork as a pole vault and her feet came closer and closer to him. Things seemed to move in slow motion for him, however he too moved in slow motion, he couldn't use his insight to his advantage at this moment. He slashed out horizontally, without moving, causing his sword to clash against her shield, however his attack was meaningless and he knew it as he watched his blade get pushed back from her. She kicked him hard in the chest, which didn't hurt due to the massive metal plate that he used to stop bullet, but the kick sent him flying and caused him to drop his sword. He fell to the ground and rolled into a tumble, unable to stop himself and rebound like he normally would. His blade landed next to him but he hardly moved. He slowly began to get up but his strength was beginning to give out on him. "No... not now..." He rolled over and looked up to the sky to await his destiny.

Xing Cai tightened her grip on her fork even further, making herself slow down vastly. She landed on the ground, looking at Date who was lying on the ground. He made a movement to get up, making her quickly pull her fork out, but then his strength failed him. He was too weak. She picked up her fork and moved quickly over as he rolled over, peering up at the sky with his single eye.

'I don't want... anymore death....' She whispered quietly to herself as she pulled her arm back. '...It isn't right... to have to kill someone else in order to stop death. It isn't right....'

Moving these thoughts away she threw her arm down, her fork aiming directly down at her opponent. Xing Cai was actually praying that something would happen so this man didn't have to die.

'...I hate... killing.'

Date watched her move over him as she raised her weapon up. "Mmm... can this really be the end?" He shouted loudly. One of the fighting samurai who had been rather close glanced over and saw what was happening. Without thinking of anything other than the safety of his lord he jumped forward and dove over him, thrusting his spear into the ground on the other side of him to use to slow himself down so that he would not crush his lord. He landed rather hard on Date, but not so hard that it would have harmed him. Xing Cai's fork pierced him in the back the moment he landed. Other samurai soon followed to pull Date out as they surrounded Cai. One grabbed his sword as they carried his body off toward his horse. They propped him up on it but he quickly slumped down onto the animal's neck, to tired and beat up to stay seated upright. The dying samurai on the ground whispered, "what greater glory than to give my life for my own lord..." His words slipped out along with his life and once he was gone the rest of the samurai backed away from Cai for fear that she would kill them too. There would be no honor in dying then and there since their lord had already been saved.

Meanwhile the rest of the Date Army was unaware of their lord's defeat and continued the assault on the castle. Date whispered to one of his captains, "Don't stop yet. As long as I don't have to fight we can still win this battle. I will remain here until we retreat." The truth was that his army was not doing so well. Honda's army was doing fine fighting off the reinforcements, but if Date's army left then there would be more soldiers fighting Honda's army and the battle would be lost.

And just before Date was hit, a samurai leapt out and took the hit instead. Xing Cai simply stepped back, pulling her fork out from the man's body while Date was dragged away and samurai surrounded her. Completely unwilling Cai got into a battle stance, but as soon as Date was gone the samurai backed off. They were afraid of her? She blinked before moving over to the fallen samurai's side, bending over and looking down into his empty eyes. He was dead. Taking the opportunity of the enemies too afraid to come near her Cai set her fork down and gently closed the dead man's eyes.

"May you find peace." Cai told him as she grabbed her weapon and stood back up. Even though she had won the duel, Xing Cai felt absolutely no pride in having done so. All that she wanted was for this battle to be over.

But everyone kept on fighting. None of Date's men retreated. They were unaware of the fact that their lord had been defeated in battle. And Cai was too tired to fight now. Date had nearly killed her. But if she collasped here, then her effort to win would have been in vain. And she couldn't get back into the city, it was shut tight. She was locked outside, on the verge of collasping, but the only way that she could survive was to burn up the precious energy that she was using to stand. Sucking breath Cai moved forward, her body feeling heavier with every step that she took. The duel's toll was becoming much more evident to her now. She fought off what samurai came, doing her best to fend them off. Why hadn't she brought a steed? As her eyes trailed over the battle field she found that almost every single officer was in a duel. Then she spotted her uncle nearby, killing off men by the dozens. Cai ran to him, stabbing a samurai who'd tried to come up from behind him.

"...Are you... hurt Uncle?" Xing Cai asked as she turned herself around to where she was back-to-back with her uncle to fight the soldiers that were there. It was almost impossible to stay standing. She briefly shook her head to get rid of sweat and blood from her eyes, her breathing labored. Stopping now would mean death, and she couldn't let that happen.

Guan Yu pulled his magnificent weapon ((hehe, I love his weapon)) out of another samurai's body and turned to cut another man down. He looked to see Xing Cai run up to him after killing another man. He noticed the blood seeping from not only her chin but also her side had been sliced open. "I'm in much better shape than you are," He said in his usual deep voice. "But you're alive and that's all that matters. I saw you fighting Date. He had you on the run there for a while, but I see that you defeated him. I can't tell you how proud I am of you!" He laughed some as he fended off several other men. He continued laughing on the inside, not wanting to reveal that he was the one who stopped Date's shot.

He paused for a moment and noticed that she didn't look very good. She was tired and ready for the battle to end. "In any case stick close to me for the rest of the battle, you've done your part to take care of things here, just try to keep up with me, I don't want you getting sepparated."

{{I love his weapon too! It's also interesting to use Cai's... I don't think that many people use forks as weapons.... xd }}

At least someone seemed to be cheerful. A small smile appeared on Cai's lips as she heard her uncle's words. He was proud of her. The God of War... was proud of her? Her cheeks were flushed! At a loss of words Cai merely nodded, cracking a samurai's head in by bashing him with her shield. She still couldn't figure it out... how had that one samurai end up in front of her bullet? It was bizarre... she didn't know how to explain it, and truthfully, she was too tired to really give it any thought. Then Yu said that she should stick close to him for the rest of the battle. That she could definately do.

"...Yes sir." Xing Cai responded with another nod, disarming a soldier and then stabbing him. She couldn't take out too many opponents at once, so whoever dared to come close enough she could take care of. Until the battle ended. When would it end?

"Uncle...." She coughed, clearing her throat and repeating his name so he could hear her before speaking again. "How much longer... do you think... the battle will last?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 10, 2006 10:58 pm

"I couldn't tell you, honestly." He said as he parried a katana the cut out the samurai's knees. "More or less every other officer here is in a personal duel and I doubt that either side will give in until after each duel is over, but you never know." Yu kept fighting forward, hoping that Gan Ning was faring well in his battle as well.

"Cai, have you seen the red warrior? He is a man from accross the sea, just like these invaders, however he fights on our side and is rather mighty. He doesn't look particularly strong but is great in battle. I would like to get to know him and to see if there are others like him who came here to help us stop the other invaders."

((OMG.... so much GREEN!))

====Guan Xing====

Guan Xing breathed heavily, somewhat out of frustration at himself. Though he kept saying "If I wasn't so tired, I could beat him," he knew on the inside that he still could not win. This man had experience that Xing could only wish for. So why wasn't he dead yet? At least for now, he could get some information out of this japanese man.

"So why did you attack China?" Guan Xing asked him. "In our weakest state, you all had to invade our homelands. And for what? More blood?"
