Chaim focused on Eve as the girl pulled him toward forward, her unease displayed in her features and voice. Planting his feet firmly on the sidewalk, he came to a halt.

"If you lack the desire to go," he began, the sound of sirens echoing through the city and growing louder, "we don't have to. I'm sure the authorities can handle it on their own with the greater threat gone."

Dontee smirks slightly, seeing the creature move it's mask to show it roll it's eyes at him. He kept his arms crossed as he listened carefully to the creature, becoming more aware of what it is staying. He sighs. "Well, obviously curiosity isn't much of an excuse for you, now is it?... I painted quite a picture of the situation at hand, yet you wish to know even more of a reason for me to approach you... Well, fine..." He leans forward slightly. "... I approach you to feed my curiosity because I do not fear you. I see you as another life form struggling in the world, like so many are... You may be able to cause harm, I know... but potentially you may be peaceful... otherwise you would be trying to kill me as we are currently conversing. I won't harm you if you aren't harming others is my golden rule, with some limited exceptions... such as poking a syringe into a child's arm to inject them a cure to an illness they are suffering or cutting something off of someone to insure that an infection doesn't spread, as some people do.”

He then shrugs his shoulders. ”… but if you feel threatened or uneasy about my presence, then I can leave, for I have little need to stay around a smoking bar and a creature that is apparently unaware of how to have a proper and pleasant conversation.” He says as he steps back and turns a bit so that he no longer faced the creature, his left shoulder being the closest towards the creature.

Alyce listened to the creature speak, which was then answered with an in-depth explanation from the other male. He seemed so.. Good. The kind of good that made a salty taste blanket over Alyce's tongue. In her mind, it was fake. Unreal. No one was really nice. And if they acted it, if they said something about themselves, it was an act. A cover to make oneself look better. A lie. Such kindness was, in Alyce's reality, non-existent.

When the male finished speaking, he turned. Alyce's eyes were back on the creature. Though, her instincts began telling her something, but she didn't know what. All she knew was that she now had a wary feeling. Something was wrong, but not something that could be seen. At least, at that moment. She frowned slightly, and craned her head to look at the building behind her. No, it wasn't the smoking building. Her eyes scanned around, but there didn't seem to be any other threats around. Humans, yes. But they weren't a threat. Maybe the male that was speaking seconds ago, or possibly the creature.

The creature.

Alyce's eyes trained themselves on the creature once again, now in an almost calculating way. She watched it's every movement, face expressionless, though eyes holding an almost cold look. Ever so slightly, one of her eyes began to glow faintly.

xxLucius looked at the man with an air of curiosity and unfamiliarity. He had read stories, and indeed, felt it cliche that the man would not fear him and was genuinely interested in him, but even still, this man... Lucius was not sure how to categorize him. The man showed no fearful hesitation to speak to him, but nor did he show any ulterior motive to speak so... Casually to him. Lucius faintly remembered another, in the forest. A great power, but one Lucius knew was in fear of him, or at least in fear of his ability. using that fear, Lucius was able to drain enough life force from him to sustain himself, and leave. But this man... He did not show the same fear towards him or the fear in the possibility that Lucius could kill him. In truth, Lucius did plan to, but it was only a thought in passing. He subconsciously stopped draining life force from the man, though continued to do so to the girl. as the man was about to leave, Lucius materialized a bony arm-like structure with a clawed hand, extending to towards the man. "Wait!" Lucius moved past the girl, disregarding her for the moment. "I..." Lucius spoke slowly. "I... Am... Lu... Lucius... Carmine-" Before he could finish his whole statement, the sounds of an alarm came nearer and nearer. It was the authorities, but Lucius did not know them as such. He could see strange objects moving towards him at speeds faster then a normal human, but contained inside where humans (Police cars).

Dontee looks to the creature swiftly upon being requested to wait. He looks to the creature carefully, but kept his emotions hidden from his face... though he didn't quite know what to feel. He smiles a bit upon learning his name, glade that he slowed his speech a bit to say it more clear. He looked past the creature to see sirens in the distance, so he quickly looks to him to say "I go by Dontee... You should probably leave the area, knowing the officers will wish to search the whole area due to the incident that occurred in the bar that has caused a panic." He then nods to him and then glances to the woman, deciding to give her a little not, despite her harsh/cold attitude. He then swiftly darts into the alleyway at a swift rush.

After a bit of a distance from the bar, he stopped to let out a sigh. "Funny... I feel a hair more tired than usual..." He thought, leaning against a dumpster as to catch his breath.

Alyce watched the creature interact with the male, and soon completely disregarding her to tell him to 'wait.' He introduced himself, and soon the male, Dontee, did as well. But, considering neither were paying attention to her, thoughts came to mind. Now would be the perfect time to get away from these two. She wanted nothing to do with them. But, those thoughts were soon disregarded when the sound of sirens was heard in the distance, rapidly approaching. Police. A loud growl was immediately emitted in response to the sound.

"Bloody hell," she thought, eyes narrowing.

She immediately began to sprint in the opposite direction at a speed that wasn't her fastest, but would be much faster than any human could run. She passed a male with a large sword ahead that she almost knocked into, but swerved out of the way just in time. She kept running, but felt an urge to slow down. She felt much more tired than usual, actually. This wasn't normal at all. She slowed only a little, then came to a stop after a few seconds, and walked under the overhead darkness draped over the street, thanks to a building. She seated herself, back against the hard wall, and thought a moment about what was happening. "Why did that tire me? I've run larger distances at higher speeds in the past and haven't felt this way," she thought to herself, frowning. Then it hit her.

The instincts she felt earlier, the thoughts she had. The way that thing --- Lucius, she corrected herself -- was acting when Dontee said he would leave. There was no other possible, or other palpable answer in Alyce's mind.

It was the creature.

Eve stumbled a little as Chaim came to a sudden halt. She frowned realizing just how bad at hiding her body language she was.

The girl blinked slowly at the man, cringing slightly at the noise of the loud sirens "Understand me darling, I will do anything I deem reasonable." she stated shaking her head lightly "I am not spoiled and I will not let a simple bad feeling stop me." Eve sighed reattaching herself to Chaim "This time you win for I do not wish to be interrogated." she smiled lightly and waited for her companion to start walking.

Lael's wings fluttered almost nervously at Karinda's comment about their capability. In truth, Lael had only ever tried to use them once - and once had been quite enough.

They continued through the tunnel in almost complete silence. The only comments to pass their lips were to note difficult areas of the tunnel as Saiirin lit the way. When the little dragon wasn't looking Lael couldn't help but spend an extra moment looking at her. She wished she had a dragon for a companion in her life.

That's why you're headed to Templum, remember? Any companion you can work with will be a good companion. Lael thought to herself.

As the rough rock began to smooth and the stairs re-appeared, Lael announced that they weren't far. By the time the stairs and walls had turned to marble and the sweet, fresh salt laced air had reached them, they could see a slither of light from the doorway ahead. Finally the ground evened out and Lael sprang forward, running toward the aged oak door. It swung easliy on the hinges.

Lael took a greatful breath of the fresh air and smiled. Below them lay the city. Somewhere behind the castle the frist staircase began, curving up the cavernous walls, leading to any number of disguised entrances and exits from Templum. A quater of the way around the city, a similiar staircase begun again, and another again far below their feet. These three huge staircases formed a sort of spiral to the surface, growing ever outward to accomodate for the next staircase.

Where they stood now, Lael and Karinda were backed against one of the sheer cliff like rises of a staircase, their ledge just big enough that two men could ride their horses along it side by side, although not without a certain amount of discomfort. This ledge curved around the edge until it came level with the marble stairs, where it joined them and seemed to meld into them. The small picket fences that ran along the edge of the staircases and ledges, seen to be all over Templum, were just enough to stop young chilrden from toppling to their deaths, but would never have held the weight of a grown man thrown against them.

Lael edged up to the side of her ledge and looked down. It always made her dizzy, but she had decided long ago that it was shameful for a creature with wings to be so afraid of heights. Perhaps if she pushed herself to look upon the drop every so often, she would eventually get used to it.

As she stepped away from the ledge, butterflies fluttering in her stomach, she let out a sigh of relief and smiled at Karinda and Saiirin.

"Welcome to Templum."

xxLucius was confused at what this "Dontee" meant by "officers", but if his language was up to date, "officers" where enforcers of authority. Lucius then concluded that these "officers" must be some sort of law enforcement types. Though Lucius isn't sure of the severity of his crimes, he knew it better then to wait to see. He stretched his form over a building, planting himself on top of it. he then began to hop from one roof to another, until the sounds of the sirens where low.

Lucius had found a cozy spot for him to sit for the night. He did not sleep, only waited. He could have went out to seek that girl he was draining life energy from, but Lucius just wasn't in the mood anymore. Sure, he could pounce on any human and consume them, but he didn't really feel like he had too. He had his week's fill from that one Immortal Soul, and anything else was just him indulging. But now he was lonely, and bored. Oh, how he wished he could have found a nice archive or maybe a story teller to entertain him for the moment. He remembered back in his world (before he destroyed it), of a humorous situation; he was once with an adventuring party consisting of three humans, an elf, a halfing, and a dwarf. He remembered a time where the human, a bard by occupation, had come to the conclusion that while wearing light armor, he was able to be more stealthily then someone with heavier armor. But then he assumed that if he had no armor, or clothing for that matter, he wold be, in all practicality, invisible. to see the human running about in the nude was entertaining, as was the words that he spoke in his attempts to be stealthy.

((Take note of the descriptions here, all ye Defenders! If you have trouble understanding it, let me know.))

Karinda gaped at the sight before her. Standing on a ledge a hair’s breadth large enough to allow two horses to walk side-by-side, a city gazed up at her from far below within the precipice created by the surrounding walls. Even from their height, the city looked large, some if its buildings built in the old ways while some looked as strange as a pig with five legs. A castle stood near the far end of the magnificent city, its towers reaching up over the other buildings.

Three massive staircases carved into the circular wall spiraled up the rock wall until they ended at large, intricately carved doors far above. Connected to the staircases, other ledges similar to the one upon which she and Lael stood connected to the large sets of stairs, their presence lying great in numbers. Following the nearest white-fence-lined staircases with her eyes, Karinda found its end near the back of the castle, while the others ended an equal distance away from one another. Looking to the other side, she saw the door through which she had so easy strode had been fitted into the back of a second of the staircases.

“Well,” she breathed, Saiirin motionless at her side from amazement. “’Tis… Extraordinary,” she finished, the sight taking any words she had to say from her mouth.

Walking close to the unguarded edge, Karinda slowly walked toward the staircase to which the ledge connected.

Chaim smiled at Eve’s words.

“As the Lady says,” he replied, his feet carrying them quickly forward. “To avoid any questioning, we shall remain all but invisible to the human authorities. Unless we do something to call to their attention or they know they’re looking for us, their eyes will remain blind to our presence.”

A movement within the shadow of a building caught his eye. His gaze fell momentarily upon a woman sitting within the darkness. The lights of the streetlamps flicked on, their light falling just short of the woman dwelling within the shadow. Sparing her only an extra moment as he and Eve walked by, he cast his gaze again forward.

A few blocks away, a man with a large sword tethered to his back entered his sight. Nearing, the scent of alcohol filled his nostrils as it clung to the man’s clothes while beyond, the flashing red and blue lights of the police cars shone on the walls as the cars pulled into park outside a bar.

“Excuse me,” Chaim placed a hand on the man’s shoulder. “Do you know anything about what’s happened here?”

Alexander walked as several cars with sirens passed. He knew where they were heading, he was there. He had still been thinking of what occurred at the bar, but then swiftly turns, feeling a hand on his shoulder as someone asks for him to excuse him. If he wasn't in the city, he would of more likely of reacted with an attack, for he had been lost in his own thoughts for the moment that he completely forgotten where he was going.

He stops and listens to the man's question, but leaves little emotion on his face, other than the look of slightly annoyance and a bit of surprise. He glances to the flashing red and blue lights down the streets to nod before looking back to the stranger.
"A little. I was walking away from it and heading on my own way at the time, so I didn't see what happened in the bar… but I did see everyone, which did, escaping. The bar was filled with this black smoke, but there was no fire... so someone had smoked up the bar with something. Then a stampede of people ran out, no longer wanting stick around... There was also a woman with a scythe that retracted into her arm that had left the bar by 'disappearing into thin air', so I assume she had something to do with it, but I can't assume that it was necessarily her cause or not... for I hadn't been in the bar in time to witness anything." He says with a shrug of his shoulders.

He, himself, didn't care about telling other people of supernatural events... especially when he had been drinking before telling of it, for then people who choose not to wish to believe him would just laugh it off and say it's from the alcohol... but he's not more open because of the drinks' effects on him, he doesn't get that drunk... he drinks, because it builds a net for if he slipped up and told a supernatural event to someone who would likely freak out, they'd merely think him as drunk. He finds it a nice way to end the day and be sure people don't bug him too much... for who wants to be around someone with a large sword and the scent of alcohol for more than a few seconds?

((I'm sorry for the wait again! They will cease to happen! I refuse to make a habit of it!))

"Agreed." Loki, finally paying attention to the commotion, nodded and began to move at a faster pace. It bothered her that she had dismissed something that turned out to be more serious than she thought.

Jarod, accustomed to hurrying around strange places, easily kept up. He too had seen the black smoke in the sky. That, and all the people and vehicles screaming and the flashing lights... it all excited him. He wanted to know what had happened, what was going on, who had caused it.

Finally they arrived, their usual 'plan of attack' was initiated. Loki took on the form of something small, Jarod's appeared age changed, he grew a few feet and wore a change of men's clothing carried in his pack. Bebinn of course was taken into account, and she got her own room. The pair assumed she would want privacy. After they made it in, Loki-the-pet had climbed in through a window, then went into the bathroom to change back to her human self and shower.

Jarod, also clean now, had found it more convenient to remain in the older disguise he had taken on. His blond hair and blue eyes were both replaced by brown, his freckles were gone, and he looked to be around twenty years of age. His voice of course had also deepened to match his age. His clothing consisted of jeans, comfortable black shoes and a simple light blue dress shirt. Jarod sat by a window now, eating what remained in his box of crackers, as well as some other food he had purchased from the inn's lunch room. "Can we go see what caused all that commotion?" he asked Loki.

"I don't know. Maybe tomorrow. I'm curious myself, but remember it's not just us anymore." Loki sat on the bed in their room, sorting out what they had in their bags. "We'd have to let Bebinn know, it would be trouble to just get up and go without letting her know first. Speaking of which, we should check on her, make sure everything's going alright. I don't think she's traveled anyplace in a real long time."

"She's kind of scary," Jarod admitted. "You get used to her though. What is she again? Wait, never mind, I'll ask her." He got up and walked to their door, then opened it and looked back at his mother, beckoning for her to go through. "Ladies first." After she had gone through he closed it and went to knock on the one right next to theirs.

Chaim scowled inwardly, his face remaining calm and serene as he chuckled at the man.

"Either you’ve had a few too many drinks," he began, "or you’ve seen this kind of thing far too many times to be capable of describing it with such nonchalance. Either way, thank you." He nodded with his thanks. “And try to not kill anyone with that tonight,” he added, gesturing to the large sword with his head as he made his way to the bar with Eve still on his arm.

Only with his face away from the man, did he let his scowl show.

I’ve no doubt she had something to do with it, he thought, watching as a burly man stumbled through the pub's door.

"I QUIT!" he shouted, his body shaking as if it was made of jell-o, his voice gaining the attention of a few police officers as a man with a bloodied shirt was lifted onto a gurney by two medics.

"Sir, if you’d come with me, I’d like to get your state—" an officer began, approaching the man with great caution.

"THIS TOWN’S CRAZY!" the man shouted, interrupting the officer. "THAT’S MY STATEMENT!"

"You’re the bartender, Steve Portman, correct?" the policeman continued as Chaim stopped nearby, watching to be sure neither he nor Eve were standing in anyone’s way.

"Was! Didn’t you hear me?" The bartender collapsed next to the doorway.

"If you’d come with me—"

"I’m not going nowhere!"

The officer sighed, looking to the notepad he held in his hand. "Can you tell me what happened here tonight?"

"You ain’t gonna believe me," he growled, and began an explanation as detailed as he could manage. As the bartender’s story came to a close, the officer looked at him, stunned.

“Are you aware that it’s illegal to drink while bartending, Mr. Portman?” the policeman finally asked.

Alexander smirks, playing like he is drunk slightly due to the man's response as he walked on. "Yeah, alright, bye then." He says before turning back around to squint his eyes slightly and walk firmly on. "... Walking towards the incident now, while there's nothing left to see but remains..." He thought, mainly of the man being a bit foolish to wish to see the bar now, being it would become a crowded mess.

Alexander soon made it to his next destination, stepping back a few steps to get a look at a sign that hanged above the door before stepping inside the library. He walks to the front desk and asks a silent question to the librarian at it before walking off from her to look over the shelves. "... Of course they have no real book of dragons... why would they?" He asks himself in thought as he looks over a bookshelf.

A content smile played across Agrona's lips at the sight of the aliveness of her city.

With lingering thoughts of the Peacekeeper, she made her way through the now crowded streets, those walking by stopping to bow as she passed.

"Welcome back, milady," a drow called, his eyes cast respectfully to the ground.

Zorinel has done well, she thought with an approving smirk. I wonder what has become of Xerxes...

Hurrying, she soon found herself once more within her castle, its appearance now well-kept. With long strides, she made her way to the library, where the boy still sat with his doll nearby.

"You're still here." The sound of her voice gained Garthen's attention.

Eagerly, the Corrupt floated over to her, its shadow rising into a three-dimensional figure.

"Off with you," the demon demanded. With a bow, Garthen's form sunk back to the floor, his shadow floating beneath the door.

Turning her attention to Xerxes, she spoke again. "What are you still doing here?" she snapped. "If you so desire to be apart of this army, why don't you go find others to join our cause?"
