Too much was going on for Lyra to tell if the sick feeling she had in her gut meant anything or was just nerves. She had seen the massive sails filled with wind carry the ship that seemed to fly across the water toward the castle. She had also seen her savior go out and down the cliff side, she assumed to meet whoever came on the ship. And as for Lucid well...she couldn't seem to find him now and though she tried to be brave she shuddered at the very idea of going back down into the darkness of underground to look for him. All of her senses seemed to be screaming at her that there was danger no matter where she stepped but she couldn't seem to locate just what was setting her off. Nothing seemed wrong and everyone that had come into the castle as of late Lucid had seen. But she couldn't calm down and the mark that graced her forehead throbbed with a continuous pulse of something....she supposed some would call it power but she didn't think that was what it was. Shaking her head Lyra decided she'd been a coward long enough and having finally found the doors that led to the cliffs she slipped out into the night air. The moon was high in the sky and hung there like a bright beacon of hope. Stars scattered around it, lighting the night. Moving toward the cliffs she pulled the band that held her hair back loose and smiled as the wind immediately began to make the strands dance about her face as it blew past. Taking a deep breath, she continued to walk, attempting to let the peace of the night calm her.

Lucid stood in the roof of the Southern most tower, watching the plains with disinterest. He'd been out, fed, found out a few things, and come back. He hoped the exhausted look had left him, but hadn't bothered to look in a mirror to find out. Instead, he contented himself with standing on the tower like a gargoyle, watching the tall grasses of the Plains sway to and fro. He glanced down when the door to the castle opened, watching Lyra as she stepped out into the night. He'd been trying to think of a way to keep her safe without confining her to the castle. Unfortunately, he'd come up short of ideas. He could keep an eye on her though, for this night, while she wandered about the grounds.

Lyra had paused on the cliff side to take in the sight and the sounds of the sea. It was the first time she had ever seen ocean waters and the vastness as well as the sheer beauty of it stopped her in mid-motion. The water seemed to go forever and the waves rose and fell almost gently against the rocks that held her so high above them. Watching the water and the play of the light form the sky that fell upon it she sighed. Once again she felt as if she were in a dream, and if she was she continued to pray that she wouldn't wake and ruin it. Sensing eyes ion her Lyra slowly turned and looked out across the plains, her gaze then swept over the castle and though she couldn't seem him anywhere, for reason she couldn't name she knew who was there watching her. She knew Lucid was hidden somewhere close enough that he could watch her. It made her smile instead of being frightened as she probably should have. Lucid was the only person she had ever come across who had the ability to make her feel...safe. It was still an odd sensation. She was used to always being ready to run but here...here all she wanted to do was stay.

The wind moved the waves, causing them to break on the jagged edges of the rocks that lined the shore. I stood just beyond those rocks, letting the tide sweep around my legs. The magic forces that made the tides stronger here along the edge of the land didn't work on people, thank god. In my hands was the Hiratoshi in all it's glory. The sword was silent at the grave this night, another thing I was thankful for. On this night, it was simply a weapon. On any other night, it would have been thirsty for the blood of some innocent passerby and I would not have been able to stop it from wreaking havoc. But this night, I was safe from it. Not me, but the passersby. I knew Lucid was there, watching over the Haven like a stone sentinel. But I also sensed another. The woman that had been with Lucid in the bar of the Haven. I had dismissed her upon seeing her last. I thought briefly about simply going inside. The only problem was my mind disagreed with me. I turned, walking back up the rocks toward the castle. Upon reaching the clifftop, I turned and strode toward her. "You should not be out here alone." I said quietly, pausing about ten feet from her. I slid Hiratoshi back into it's sheath, then let my hands go lax at my sides. "It could be dangerous." End of message.

Lyra turned to met the strangers gaze, her eyes wary and frightened. Biting her lip she almost gave into the urge to step back but resisted. Dammit, she wasn't a coward, and it was time she stopped acting like one. Lucid was watching her, surly if the man wanted to harm her he wouldn't do so where anyone could see. "I'm alright....it's not as if I was ever truly alone." she added softly and turned to watch the water. She felt other things besides fear, something tugged at her until she turned her gaze back to the male. He seems lonely, was her first thought and while she tried to dismiss that as ridiculous she tilted her head and wondered if her first instinct might be right. The man did seem as if he stood alone in the world and carried the weight of it on his shoulders with no one to help make the load any lighter. He stood like a man who could count on no one...and knew it. "The night is beautiful...I still haven't been able to get over the freedom of being allowed outside. I've never seen the water of the ocean before." she whispered, then laughed and shook her head, her long back hair blowing about her face. "For that matter I've never even seen a lake before," she corrected and tilted her head so that her laughing brown eyes met his.

Gemara's head came up and she listened closely. The slight echo of voices came from down the hall. She moved in that direction like a whisper, pausing when she saw their shadows in the torchlight. The blonde she had seen earlier who had been very nce. Gemara had trusted her on sight, which she did not do with very many people. "It was odd'" she thought, but I almost feel like she is a little sister to be protected. As if I could protect anyone here." Her eyes went to the hawk in admiration and she further cloaked her presence.

I watched her for a moment, trying to picture never being outside. When I failed at this, I gave up. Shifting my gaze away from her, I shrugged. "It is nothing special, really." I said quietly, gazing out at the water. I did not honestly see what she found so fascinating about it. "Though I suppose if you have never seen it before it could be interesting." Lifting my hand, I touched the hilt of the sword at my side, wishing for a moment that I could just throw it into that huge body of water and be rid of it forever. Sucking in a deep breath, I looked back at the girl. "You should see it at sunset. Sometimes the water looks like someone turned it into gold." I said. I didn't want to put a damper on her happiness. After all, if it really was her first glimpse of the ocean, at least it was a nice one.

Lyra's eyes lite with pleasure at the very image his words provoked. "Really....I bet it's beautiful." she answered and took a deep breath, if she was going to be around people again she needed to get used to dealing with them. "My name is Lyra...I can't remember if we were really introduced before or not." she told him truthfully.

Information for information was the way I did things. Since the last time I got close to a female, Hiratoshi killed her, I was a bit wary of getting close to another. But she had already told me her name and what harm could telling her mine do? "Arjay." I said. As soon as I said it, I became a bit nervous, waiting for Hiratoshi to react, for it to take me over and make me hurt this girl. I was relieved after a moment when nothing happened. I kept my face void of expressions though, not wishing for her to know anything might be wrong, lest she get the wrong impression and run. I noted, though, that she had not run at the sight of me. It was an improvement to most other people. I seem to have this sign painted on my forehead that says; 'Danger! RUN!'. Or maybe it's that Death follows me wherever I go..who knows? Whatever it was, people were smart to obey it. Perhaps this girl couldn't see the sign..and maybe, just maybe, it was a good thing. End of message.

Lyra tilted her head and the light in her eyes dimmed slightly as she studied him, but after doing so for a moment they re-lite with her usual warmth. "Arjay...nice to meet you...I think." she added, with a slight smile, wanting to see if she could coax one out of him as she managed to do with Lucid. Lucid had been the first man to ever affect her in any way, to tug at her mind and her heart and make her want to make the effort of talking, even though nine times out of ten she ended up embarrassing the hell out of herself she'd found she was good at making people laugh. And while Lucid was rapidly becoming a first in many things he obviously wasn't the last as here was yet another person...who also just happened to be male who affected her the same way. "For a moment there it looked like you were thinking of pushing me into the water. From this height it would probably hurt.." she speculated looking down. Here eyes laughing, she danced back a step and turned to look at him one eyebrow raised. "I've found that I do actually push back occasionally...though I'm a wimp and I know it, so I'd probably end up helping myself along instead of taking you with me should you attempt it." she added ruefully, knowing herself and her own clumsiness.

((Karma points for the lol there, Jess.))
I listened to her and found myself actually fighting the urge to chuckle. I settled for a slight smile, felt it tug at the corners of my mouth before I could even think. "I think me tossing you off of this cliff would have your watchdog up there a bit unhappy." I said, motioning with a finger to where the Master Vampire was watching. "For some reason, I think he would try to kill me if I did such a harmful thing to a woman." I honestly believed that he would try to deal me a deathblow for tossing this woman off the cliff, but for some reason, I doubted that he could actually kill me. So my tone was slightly teasing. Not that I would ever challenge Lucid to a battle of strengths, knowing how fast the son of a b***h is with a weapon in his hands. Of course, it would also have ruined my shot at getting his help with Hiratoshi, and that wasn't worth the momentary laugh at watching the woman fall into the water below. The things we do for freedom, eh? I glanced back at the woman and actually smiled this time, feeling a mischievous twinge coming on. "Of course, if you want to go for a swim, I could always take you down there and then toss you in." I said pointing to where I had been standing just a few moments before. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind that."
End of message.

At his smile Lyra felt her own smile widen and at his words she did something she hadn't done in a long time. She laughed, granted it sounded odd even to her own ears, the sound of her laughter but she couldn't help it. "I'd sink like a stone so then you'd just have to jump in a rescue me...or he would...whoever got there first." she answered between chuckles. "I don't know how to swim...I've never even been in a body of water...including a bathtub." she finished and calming down she once again met his gaze with her own. "But of course if you wish to play the hero and get soaked in the process I'm all for it...but I'm betting that water is probably cold."

(Slight god-mod here, no harm intended.)
I looked back down at the water, then glanced the the sword strapped at my side. It was sleeping. It would be easy to simply remove it from my belt and toss it aside while I dunked Lyra. I could stay with her, make sure she didn't drown. I thought about it long and hard, then undid the leather straps that held the sword to my belt. The sword would wake if I did anything too quickly, so I slowly lowered it to the ground, laying it there as gently as I could. Then, in a blur of motion, I scooped Lyra up, pushing off of the cliffside. The momentum carried us swiftly to the shorline, where I lessened the shock of the landing by putting on a burst of levitation just before we touched the ground. In effect, we ended up standing on the beach. I gave Lyra a devious smirk, then lifted her easily off of her feet and tossed her into the water. Not wanting her to drown, I didn't throw her very far, keeping her in the shallows where she could still stand, if she so chose, and be only about waist deep. I then waded out to where she landed, waiting for her to surface. The water wasn't cold to me, though vampires don't feel the cold like other races do. End of message.

Lyra had to muffle a shriek as Arjay scooped her off her feet and proceeded to jump off the cliff. When they stood safely on the beach, she'd barely gotten her breath back only to lose it once more when she was tossed into the air and sank into frigid water. Her body quickly adjusted itself to the temperature and after a moment she no longer felt the cold but the initial shock of hit had her surfacing with a gasp and shivering slightly. Pushing her wet hair back from her face, her eyes narrowed on Arjay who stood so calmly in the water. Considering...she weighed her options before shrugging. Moving toward him and the shore, she smiled slightly. "I didn't actually think you'd do it." she teased, trying her best to keep her balance on the murky bottom as the waves pushed at her.

I pulled my shirt off, tossing it up onto the shore. I then moved toward her. She'd know how to swim by the time I was done with her, dammit. You just cannot live near a huge body of water and never bother to learn how to swim. What if she fell in and there was no one around to rescue her? She'd drown. That was unacceptable. "If you have any metal on you, take it off." I said, pausing in front of her. "The salt content in the water will ruin it." I proceeded to follow my advice, pulling off my belt and boots. I could always just magically dry those items, but better safe than sorry, right?
End of message.
