He followed like a puppy more or less, letting her lead and letting her do the talking and arranging. He was neck deep in trouble and now he didn't know what to do. Maybe he'd just convenitently disappear. "No, I'm still full from last night, thank you." Venturing a look up at her, "I'm sorry I'm causing trouble."

"Yes, all clean." Wetting and wringing out the washcloth again to gently blot out the red spot in the child's hair. "Yes, floor too." Letting his daughter tend to that for the time being mostly to keep her busy. "Just leave it in the tub in the bathroom, I'll take care of it." Frowning lightly, "And don't tease your sister." Still gently removing blood from his son's hair, his eyes turned up to Faate. "Well?"

She frowned at him. "Would you stop being so casual about it!" Quickly checking herself at the discontented nosie from her youngest as he didn't like it that she was yelling. But damn it, it was hard...he could just sit there and be so casual about this as if it meant nothing at all and he was going to go out for a drink with his best friend or something. Shaking her head and no knowing what else to say to him she turned her attention to Dhairiss, taking to undoing the rest of the bandaging that he had managed.

Zahara almost felt awful for yelling at him but what he'd done warranted a lecture. She wasn't sure if he was being truthful about not being hungry or just leery about letting her spend too much steel on him but she let it go and nodded, giving him a smile. "It's really alright, Mykorian. You both met each other under favorable circumstances, became friends and she was trying to help you when she realized you were a little short. I don't have a problem with that. My husband is...a little harsh at times but he means well. He just doesn't want anything to happen to his daughters and you posed a threat. That's all."

Lyssie did as she was told then settled back on her parent's bed to watch her sister get in trouble, almost like a cat with her eyes gleaming and her mouth turned up at the corners. Faate wasn't thrilled her sister was still in the room but she knew nothing but her father was going to make the younger girl leave. Studying the floor a moment, she sighed. "I'm sorry, Daddy. I didn't think and it was stupid and irresponsible and things could have gone horribly wrong. But Mykorian isn't evil, I promise. He needs us."

Malik got up, and looked down at her and his youngest.

"I'm not as casual as you think. I've been trained for situations like these, adn to keep my cool. but don't think that I am just brushing it off. I'm well aware I'm about to face an elf that has not only bested me before, but outright killed me once. and I doubt his skills have lessened in the amount of time we've been absent from any contact with Norrath."

walking over to the window.

"I have to keep things 'casual'. not for me, but for everyone else. Malikhai, Dhairiss, Faate, Lyssie, Zahara, and Sevilin. if I appear stressed, it stresses the children. it makes Zahara upset, and that makes sevilin upset. and sevilin is clinically insane. I don't want him doing something overly stupid or rash with his runes. I'm sorry if my casual appearance upsets you."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 8:57 pm

"Yeah I gathered he doens't like me because I'm part surface elf." Shrugging his shoulders, he couldn't help that. "If you don't have a problem then why do I have to tellmy parents only to get into more trouble? They think I'm safe. I promised them I would be just fine...if you tell them then they're only going to worry more than they ever needed to. They'd be disappointed in me and then I won't have anyone." Because even now he still would like to think he had his parent's approval.

"Needs us? And why exactly does he need us? To keep him from getting in trouble? And you knwo better than to use runes your mother isn't familiar enough with to undo. It stresses her out to think that she can't get to you if I'm not around to be able to undo them. And you shouldn't be using them anyway without need to. I lock your doors in strange places, not you." Handing Lyssie the now bloodied washcoth so she could take it to the bathroom as well. "Why do you trust him so much?"

Piper sighed and dropped her head into her hand, much to the slight protests of her youngest on her mood again. Getting up she set the child on the floor and gave him a little push. "Go keep your brother company." At his hesitancy, she only urged him more. "Go on." Watching him wander out before she turned she shut the door and turned her attention back to Malik. "Sevilin has always been clinically insane. We've always known that. We all know he even looses it from time to time. Zahara can handle that. You being so casual abotu things doesn't do as much good as you think. Dhairiss doesn't know any better, he doesn't know what's going on. Malikhai is only going to keep worrying until he knows you're safe. Damn your training and your facade to me Malik. I just want to see that I'm not the only one's who scared of what could happen, who can't help but think of how things could be if things went wrong. Why is it only okay for me to fall apart but never you. Not even to me."

Galesen was sitting down stairs when Zahara and the boy came down. Smirking at Mykorian's words he turned to them a little. "Even after living at the fortress for over a decade now Sevilin still doesn't trust me to a point. One just needs to get along with him well enough and try not to upset the man." A little nod over to Zahara. "He deeply cares for his family and if anyone somehow comes along in and threaten them well he wouldn't hesitate to defend them. Then again no one would when it comes to family right?" Galesen knew that Sevilin had his own issues, everyone that lived at the fortress did. They just had to deal with them in their own ways. A look to Mykorian and he smiled a little bit. "Well I think if you let them know where you are and tell them you're fine then I think it wont be that much of a deal. As long as they know then I think they'll understand."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 10:59 am

Zahara nodded, "But he has his reasons and they are legitimate in his mind and even carry some weight in the world. You just have to understand that his daughters mean more to him than your feelings or your life." Pausing a moment as he threw her own logic back at her and tried to weasel his way out. She frowned at his response and leaned down slightly. "Mykorian, your parents' love is not based on whether or not you're good, is it? Children make mistakes, adults do too. I still disappoint my husband and he still disappoints me. But that doesn't diminish my love for him or his for me." But if his parents held him to a system where he was loved when he was good, she might be willing to let things sway.

Faate frowned and shook her head, watching her sister do as she was told. "No, he's better than I am. He's was real leery about coming into the room to take reverie but I twisted his arm and forced him too. I don't want him out on the streets, Daddy." She studied her boots and nodded, "I know. I just...didn't feel safe..." Taking a moment and then glancing back up at him, "I can't tell you why he needs us, Daddy, but he does. And I trust him because I understand him. I know how he feels and why he does the things he does and I admire his spirit. He's a lot like you..."

Malik frowned, turning his attention to her.

"I can't think those things. I can't allow that to enter my mind. I can't think of the possibility of losing, being beaten, or worse. It's like that bond display you showed me, remember? with you and your father. had one of you doubted, had one of you not had complete trust and faith in eachother, one of you would almost certainly have mis stepped. then there could have been a serious or fatal injury."

leaning on the windowsill, bracing his hands on it.

"I can't let the idea of leaving you and the children alone enter my mind. I can't let it make me question even a seconds motion, to doubt anything that I or my enemy is capable of. It's not something everyone can do. It's not something everyone is willing to give. you have to be trained to do it. to be able to focus only on the blade in your hand."

looking back at her.

"I'm not afraid to die. I'm afraid of leaving you behind. leaving my children without a father. But a paladin's word is his honor, and his honor is his life. I have to think that he won't besmirch his honor, since his honor is what drove him here in the first place."

moving over to her.

"I'm sorry that I appear so casual and calm to you, but you know me. you know that I am like the ocean. I can be calm and cool n the surface and be quite different underneath that. you know you are in my thoughts, that my concern for you is as great as yours for me. just right now, I have to keep that deeper. I have to have it not affect me in the manner you would deem it should. Or I will lose."

Rainmare's prayers, and time with his wife were done. he was dressed in his armor, polished and shined. he carried with him his two handed sword, the Nature's Defender, that he'd been using in the tournament. however he did have a backup, a hilt that had it's own blade that only formed with a righteous will gripping the hilt.

He was focused, prepared, and ready. he moved out to the arena area, keeping to the out of hte way areas, and waiting. soon enough, after the races, he would be facing his enemy again.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 2:52 pm

"That's how it works in my family. When you're good you're loved." Not that it was really that way...it was just how he had twisted it for himself. His parents loved him no matter what, but they were gone now and couldn't tell him that they did. They loved him the most when he was good and did good things...so he strived to portray that so he knew he had his parents love even if they were gone. He gave one of disheartened sighs, not quite sure what to do now. But a look to Galesen as he was adding in his two cents too. "You can't be around all the time to defend them."

He sighed lightly, looking for a way to explain this without ruining his dauhter's view of the world. "Ever think how it made him feel for you to force him into things he didn't want to do? Or how others may think of that behavior? You may not want him out on the streets, but maybe that's where he wants to be. " Raising an eyebrow at her lightly, not feel safe? Safe from what? She runed herself in with the trouble, not runed out the trouble. "You understand him? And how do you propose to know what goes on in his head and understand him?" Blinking...before a snicker snort at that comment of the comparison. "Hardly."

In other words, he had made it all about himself so as to keep himself focused. In his world of battle against Rainmare...he didn't have a wife, and he didn't have kids. He just had the need for self preservation being spoken in a mantra between his ears. It was why he was so distant with her, purposefully distant. She didn't want to see an ocean's surface, she wanted a glimpse of the other side...just as he'd always been willing to share with her. But she knew better than to push on it...knew not to ask it of him more than she already had. His pride was his trump card, and he was not going to let it be taken from him. Elves, prideful creatures. This whole battle was one where everyone lost...there was no winner. Would one be statisfied if he felled the other, his honor restored? Would one let go of a defeat and not seek to right it with a victory? No way she could know. Piper walked past him and to the desk, picking up his sword...and bringing it back to him, holding it out for him to take.

A blink at the boy before he chuckled slightly. "Trust me if Sevilin had his way he would be there all the time." Though a look to Zahara and he gave a light nod. "That's true, everyone makes mistakes even when they are older. I still do. I bet Malik may have a few times." A look back to Mykorian and he smiled a little. "For now don't worry too much about Sevilin, just be careful and maybe he might let it go after awhile." A small pause as he thought things over. "Do you need a place to stay? I could let you stay in my room if you want."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 5:37 pm

"Not to worry, Galsen, it's already taken care of." Giving a nod and then frowning internally as she listened to the child. She was in a dilemma now. It wasn't fair to let Mykorian get away with it because he'd only do it again, but she wasn't about to steal a parent's love away from a child. It was disgusting the way some parents made it all about merit and good behavior. She wanted to wring her kids' necks sometimes but she always loved them. "And you would prefer I didn't tell your parents because it's important that they love, right Mykorian?" Sighing again, "Then what do you propose we do instead? You cannot get away with this."

She shook her head, "He wanted to stay but he was afraid to. He didn't want to impose and he didn't want to get me in trouble. It's not different when you tell us to take a bath and then give us incentive when we don't want to." She was running into problems here that weren't going to be solved because she couldn't break Mykorian's trust. "He trusted me first. That's a big deal among elves, Daddy. You trusted Mama at some point and she trusted you." Frowning at him, "He is! He says the same kinds of things you do and he's just as nice and protective as you. He was going to go hunt down someone who tried to hurt me!"

He looked at the sword, and grasped teh hilt, the blade coming to life in his hand, before he lowered the point to the floor. looking at it a moment, before turning his gaze back to her, and using his other hand to gently tug her over to him, search her eyes.

"I won't let you go. and I won't fall as long as I have you to hold me up. My focus may make me seem distant..but you always have me with you."

holding her hand up, brushing his fingers over her wedding ring.

"Right here. in the words that I know you still remember from that day."

Why did people feel the need to pep talk? Well that was what Galesen was doing, pep talking. He didn't care to hear of Sevilin's dislike and how he just had to deal with it. They could all think what they wanted. But it seemed that Zahara was taking his excuse but still wanting him to receive a punishment. But a nod to the first part of her question and then a thinking look, "Punish me yourself instead?"

"It's not the same and stop trying to prove me wrong." Shaking his head lightly with a sigh. "I trusted your mother after years of knowing her. Years. You've known that boy only a matter of days." Frowning right back at her as hse was frowning...she was so like her mother sometimes. "Firstly you shouldn't be getting into situations where people are trying to hurt you and secondly if they are then you should be telling your mother and I. And I'm not going to argue the point with you Faate. You're too young to trust what you think you know."

She didn't say anything as he took his sword from her, and had merely started to turn away from him before he tugged her over and met her eyes with his own. She may not be saying anything, but they were. She just knew it was better to keep her mouth shut on the matter before they eneded up in a fight and slinging words and things that neither of them meant. Giving a sigh, she merely sunk against him for the moment more or less trying to comfort herself in the process. "I love you..." It was all she really had to say, all she really could say. Things were literally out of her hands and there was not a thing she could do about it but merely let things come to pass.

Zahara regarded Mykorian for a long moment since that's precisely where her mind had been going. "Is that a question, Mykorian? You are old enough to make a decision about this. Would you accept a punishment I give you when I'm not your mother? Would you like me to treat you just like one of my kids when they pull what you did?" Quirking an eyebrow at him. Of course that was a risk on his part becasue he didn't know how she punished.

Her lower lip jutted out as he kept slashing at everything she had to say. He didn't know, he just thought he did. And according to Zykariel Mama and Daddy hadn't been sleeping together long before he came around, so she didn't believe him. "It wasn't my fault. I was trying to get his medal back. I didn't know he'd sold it to buy food!" Blowing out a breath and then shaking her head. "Fine." Getting upset now. "You're still wrong, Daddy. And one day I'm going to prove it to you." Turning on her heel and stalking out of the room before she broke down and cried. He just didn't understand. If she was able to tell them that Mykorian's parents were dead maybe they'd understand. But she couldn't. Flopping on her bed with a huff, she glared at the ceiling.

Lyssie settled down beside her father adn snuggled up to him. "I'm sorry too, Daddy. I knew he wasn't s'posed to be in there with us and I didn't tell." Her eyes shining with tears now that she was realizing what could have happened. "Am I in trouble, too?"

Kelligrin wasn't happy either but he just stayed quiet, studying his now clean hands and staying curled into his father. "Sissy sad? Why?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 7:51 pm

"And I love you."

holding her next to him, and giving her a kiss on the top of her head lightly, squeezing her in a little hug.

"Lets get everything together. the racing should be nearing finish, and then we'll handle this situation."

letting her go and setting the sword aside only for a moment, before his eyes closed a moment and he used the trigger word for the summoning enchantment on his armor, and became clad in obsidian black mithril and silver skulls.

picking up his sword again, and sheathing it for now, taking off the helm and holding it in one hand.

"Lets make the arrangements that need to be made."

"Yes." Because it worked and he didn't care right now. He just wanted things to be off of him and the attention set someplace else rather than him. Anyone and anything but him.

Sevilin sighed as he started the count on how many of his children were going to be against him today. One so far...but a look to his othet daughter and he mentally sighed, time to make it two. "Yes that means you're in trouble too. You know better than to let your sister tell you not to tell us things. Now go on to your room as well." And what the hell, let's see if he could make it three. "Because they were bad and didn't tell mommy and daddy important things. So they have to be in trouble or they won't learn from their mistake." Hell maybe Zykariel could wake up pissy with him too.

And then it was done wasn't it? He was in armor and ready for a needless perhaps shameful battle. Father's awake already as well...go make sure he's watching the boys. I have to change. And at least say something to Malikhai before you go...don't just leave him to worry. I'll meat you downstairs." Thusly on to getting ready for her as she had sent him to go off and deal with the boys. She debated on whether to dress as seh felt or dressed as she needed. Underdark colors suited such a thing...but Malik needed her...to be here. Thus it was the blaringly bright red and gold, same as he would always remember her first, throwing on her bandana, slinging her bow and quiver behind her back before heading downstairs to wait for him, not really paying attention to the others she knew who were down there as well.
