"I think you like to do it sometimes."
"Exactly right son. Your friend much like you, has moments where pride gets in the way of common sense. But then again we all do. It's a flaw that one can not help and must learn to moderate with time." Dishing out the wisdom early today weren't we? "Wouldn't blessed be against the rules as well? Technically it's empowering armor above normal standards. Have to find these loopholes in your opponents, makes life easier. But I do have to agree, watching him is going to be the only way to go...though I can put a track rune on him and that isn't cheating. I use it on my kids all the time. If something is horribly bodily wrong with one of them, I know and they can't hide it." Looking to both D'vinns then, "Would that soothe your minds any?"
And the little elf wasn't going to get up and he apparently was being charged with the task of getting her up. "Literally pull her out?" Seeing the nod he was given he bit his lip a moment in contemplation before he walked forward and grasped and ankle and a wrist, pulling the little elf indeed out of bed that way and holding her in the air a moment since she was just little enough for him to do so.
Yeah sure, this wasn't awkward for him...but why did moms always pull those series of lines? It just wasn't fair really. "Yeah..too much information there Aunt Z. Somethings I do indeed know, but can live without hearing out loud." But let's push away our awkward teenage years a moment and her forced himself up with some effort and cringing...okay so he wasn't feeling as good as he thoguht he had been. "I think it looks worse than it is."

"Blessed armor is against the rules. but I seriously doubt he's using that. he'd be pretty easy to spot. tunarian blessed armor is forest green. he'd stick out like an albino in a room of drow. and he knows I'm here, so he knows that I'd know that. Odds are he's using tempered acrylia. light but strong. acrylia doesn't give much, which makes it good for taking hits. but means that it'll break before bending much. which is why I use mithril tempered with it instead. but then again, I doubt he's much concerned with most of the competition."
a small pat to his wife's thigh.
"Not all the time, though. and this isn't one of those times. but if you can put that tracking rune on him that'd be great. and I'm sure it would help Piper immensely."
Rainmare was making practive runs on the field, envisioning his opponent and racing wildfire across the lane. His lance was blunted with a ram's head, and when it hit the pratice targets, they splintered. his lance was varied shades of color in a stripe pattern..which gave the lance the illusion that it was much longer than it was...before tossing it to his equipment overseer. they would check it and such.
He got off wildifre, leading her back to his stable before pushing up the visor on his winged jousting helm, looking up at the blackness above him, trying to gauge the time. it shouldn't be too much longer before things got underway. though when the joust was in relation to other events he wasn't sure.

Zykariel gave his father a suprrised grin, glad that he didn't get yelled at for saying such things or anything like that. Despite the fact that aspects of his words came right back and bit him, he still understood that it was, as his father often said, 'the folly of the young.' That was also the reasoning behind a few of the escapades his mother had pulled in her lifetime too. "We don't even know it's activated until he comes running. Sometimes, if you really concentrate, you can feel a slight warming sensation where the rune was placed but usually the kind of harm inflicted for the rune to activate creates too much pain that overrides the slight warmth. I cut myself once just to test that theory."
Faate nodded and watched as her sister was bodily removed from the bed, which was nothing different for them since their father, more often than not, pulled them out by their ankles. Lyssie came alive in Mykorian's arms, screaming and beating at his legs until her sister smacked her with a pillow. "Stop it, Lyssie! You'll get Daddy up here and then we'll all be in trouble. If you would have gotten up when I told you to, we wouldn't have this problem." Lyssie just stuck her tongue out and glanced up at him. "Could you put me down now?"
Zahara chuckled and nodded. "Yes, my son tells me the same thing when I get in his personal space." She watched him critically, noting the slow, jolted movements that told her pain was still eclipsing most of his body and then scanned over every inch of him with the exception of his ankles and on down since they were below the water. Reaching out, she lightly pressed a spot, holding him steady just in case. "I think there's some truth to that but some of this doesn't look as bad as it is too. I'm not worried so much about your outer body because that will heal with time. It's your inner body and the damage you could easily sustain and not even realize you have. You plan on wearing full armor, yes?"

Cue the eye rolling. "Oh yes, for it is only me the woman who will worry far too much. Not that you would ever have that happening even though it is youre first born who stands to suffer should something go wrong, but no you're not worried...the might Malik D'vinn worries not for others. They either take what they can handle or get out of the way." Holding a bored gaze on him for a moment before raising an eyebrow. "Right?"
"Handy for those escapades that the children like to go out on and cause all kinds of trouble for themselves with." Reaching over and clapping his son on the shoulder, "I told you not to do it but you didn't listen to me and learned that hard way now didn't you? At least you learned the first time around." Raising an eyebrow to Malik and Piper, actually holding at bay a chuckle before a shake of his head. "I'll make sure it gets put on him. Whomever you want to know of that said condition I need to hit with a rune too."
And he almost dropped the child but held onto her as she struggled, afraid of dropping her and hurting her. Would not be good. But between yelling sisters, it seemed things were solved easily. A nod to Lyssie and he put her down. "Um, sorry?" Not quite sure what to say here but he watched the door for a moment, afraid it woudl fly open. "I think I may leave out the window. May be safer."
This was the part where we sang a happy song in our head and tried not to concentrate on things. Not only was there that childish sense of embarassment, but as a healer...she liked to poke at sore spots. That wouldn't be pleasant in any shape or form...which was reinforced when she poked at him and he gave a hiss and tried not to jolt. "Why do you gotta poke like that?" But a nod. "Full armor, new set, dad said it's some higher quality stuff too that will keep from too much getting through. I'm going to joust today." Said with affirmation in his voice.

Malik smirked lightly. hmm. should he be a smartass, or not.
"My method of worry is different. while you worry you head about might be and could be, I tend to overprotect against those might and could be. the armor he's jousting is could probably stop a drake's claws dead cold. Not to mention I try not to think about that because we both know the most likely person to actually injure him, and we both know what happens if he does."
though taking back to eating.
"And finish your breakfast as well, Piper. we'll both get a rune for this thing, and that way no matter which one of us may be near him one of us will know right away. after all, I don't think your going to trust certain people alone with others, are you?"

"You were rather amused as I recall. Mom, less so." Chuckling at his own childish escapades and then watching his little brother who looked like he was goign to shove his bowl right off the table for a moment before he managed to get that last bite of oatmeal on his spoon and into his mouth safely. "Never really took me more than once unless I was being particularly stubborn. Like with horses. I've probably fallen off them fifty times by now." Did it seem like they were all carrying on different conversations and yet the same one at the same time? Yup, it sure did. The amazing thing about various people at the same table he supposed.
"Don't apologize to her, she knows better." Gently pushing her sister towards the closet so she'd dress herself and get ready to go. "Better hurry or you won't get breakfast." Turning back to Mykorian with a giggle, she started making the bed and then looked up at him startled. "Out the window? That's silly. We'll just say you are staying at this inn and we met up in the hall. That way if you're caught around here no one can say anything."
"Because your reaction tells me if it really is worse than it looks, just as bad as it looks, or not nearly as bad as it looks." Same answer she gave to anyone whom asked her such a question. "I know you are, Malikhai. As much as I'm not pleased, I understand your need to and I won't stop you. Not that I could anyway. Pulling out a vial, she dumped the flakes it containd into the water, listening to the hissing sound they made as they dissolved. "That should help quite a bit. Marinate in the bath a little while longer until I say and when you manage to pull yourself out, I'll be waiting in your room. You're going to need help to get dressed and you will not argue with me. Understand?"

"Fair enough." Watching as she went about healer things adn then he plopped himself back down into the water...which still felt as good as ever, but it seemed whatever she put in it was helping moreso too. He could soak some more. "Just yell for me when it's time." Oh yeah he was going to enjoy this more. "And no arguing, you can go wait now." Waiting for her to vacate to the bedroom proper before relaxing some again.
She gave an exasperated noise to him as he continued on and merely shook her head, turning her attention away from him in her own gesture that she wasn't going to play his game with him or acknowledge it. Not to mention he was more or less directing her like a child this morning and she was easily rowled up right now. Though she did finish what food she did have on her plate and then got up, her son in hand and walked to Sevilin holding out a hand to him. "Give it so I can go." Waiting and then off with her back upstairs to see her other son...only to find Zahara in the room. "Checking on him already?"
He had complied quickly enough with that little demand, scribing a rune and then turning a look to Malik. "She's right prickly today, isn't she?" He wasn't going there...hell he couldn't go there or the crazy may flare back up. "No worries though, your boy will be just fine by the time he's done being prepared for jousting. Give me your hand." Meanwhile turing his look to his son...whom he was having a surprisingly good morning with today. Him and Zykariel had a knack for starting at each other early in the morning. "She doesn't like blood at all. And it's precisely seventy three in case you were wondering."
"I guess that sounds okay. Makes sense anyway." Thusly he waited for her little sister to get ready before waiting for Faate as well. Both of them ready he followed them downstiars, hoping that things wouldn't go bad on him. He had bad luck after all and it was just something that he didn't need right now.

Holding out his hand.
"she's stressed to the breaking point. between past history with a certain surface elf and myself, combined with him apparently trying to make an example of our son, add that to the fact that the only way to get him to back off this crusade of his is for someone to convince him that I'm not the same person I was those centuries ago, and her son's battered, bruised body still wanting to joust...yes. right prickly indeed."
though glancing at Sevilin.
"She's sent a note I think to her father. perhaps his habit of recording everything in a journal will pay off some. but since I did notice you've been a bit...off kilter, you might want to avoid any unneeded time together."

Zahara glanced up as Piper came into the room carrying another D'vinn, whom she held out her arms for and then jerked her head towards the bathroom. "He's still in there and doing just fine. I added a quickening agent to his bathwater so that might take care of some of the more minor bruising and lessen the impact of the major. At least that's what I'm hoping. Feel free to visit with him but he's stuck in there until I say otherwise."
Zykariel watched his aunt stalk off and shook his head. Women were so damn complicated. Though he had seen exactly when it ticked Piper off and what Malik had said to do so. Remind him not to make such errors. "Especially when it's leaking out of one of her children or you. She gets really mad at you." He blinked in surprise when his father threw a number to him lickety-split and grinned. "Gee Dad, I didn't know you cared so much..." Why was he counting? It didn't really matter to him, it was rather amusing to know that his father was still involved in an area he hated. "I wonder if I could put that on my race applications and claim it makes me a better racer. Could go either way though, better not."
She gave him a grin and after her sister was dressed threw an arm over her shoulder then walked downstairs and over to the table with Mykorian. "Morning Daddy. Uncle Malik. Kariel." Then giving a grin, "What's for breakfast?"

"She handed Zahara Dhariss, if anything to cuddle at him, but only crossed her arms and remained where she was. After all, she could feel her son's slight agitation over all of this. "I think I'll spare what dignity he has left for right now. But I'm glad you could check over him, really don't trust anyone but you on these things." Giving a sigh and looking to her friend, "Got anything in that bag of tricks that will make me goofy and carefree for a few hours?"
Malik got the same rune scribed to the back of his hand, and there that was done. Just had to put one on Malikhai and all would be set on that department. But he nodded in understanding...after all, Zahara and Piper weren't too far a cry from each other when it came to matters such as these. "Understandable. As long as I've known you both, I do know that it's clear to see that she tries her best to be your voice of reason...sometimes the voice of reason gets burned out and can't make everything well like it wants to. She's right though...trouble follows you two like wolves to blood." Frowning though at the information on Kieran though, "Noted...I'll be keeping my distance." Turning perhaps a surprised look to his son again. "She thinks it stresses me, and I care to know how many time you can almost get your neck broken, yes. Though I would indeed advice against listing that...people may think you can't just stay in the saddle." And there was his girls...and the little surface thing. Where did it come from? "Whatever you want you can have."
Mykorian plopped at the table, only because he knew Faate would have something to say about it. But unlike her he wasn't so keen on everything. "I'm not hungry just yet."

"I think it's a cosmic balance act. A tier'dal, acting more like a surface breed. the cosmos wants to see that imbalance set. so it gives us trouble so I'll be mean and vicious and brutal in one form or another."
a slight glance at the red eyed surface elf.
"what's your name, child?"
Rainmare was walking through the crowds, unsure of where his wife was, and looking for her...when he saw the kind of shape he did, curiously, recognize. walking over, and taping him on the shoulder.
"what is your kind doing here? and since when did they have wings?"
Onyx turned himself around, and looked down at the elf, tilting his head abit.
"Long story. suffice to say, according to history, erudites are responsible for this particular gift. you're the elf that beat up on Malikhai, right?"
"Malikhai? that the Tier'dal boy?"
Eyes narrowed just a bit. this might prove interesting.
"that's the one. you know, just because his father's a b*****d, doesn't mean you need to beat up his son."
Onyx caught the narrowing of eyes, but didn't say anything for the moment on it.
"There a reason for that?"
"I have my reasons, yes. but you know the father, do you? why don't you tell me what he's been up to, and I'll tell you why I have an issue with him and his potential childrearing."

She took the child and tickled him lightly then settled him in her lap, wrapping her arms around him and pressing a kiss to his snowy white hair. Sweet little boy and one who could currently take the place of her own son who was still with his father. Handing the child a vial he could shake and play with, she turned a sympathetic look to her friend. "Nothing that Malik would approve of me giving you, but I have a ready ear and shoulder if you need it. What's going on?"
Zykariel glanced between his father and Malik, then decided to keep his excitement about Kieran coming to himself. He knew his father didn't like him and even though he'd become sort of like a grandfather to him, that didn't mean he had to flaunt it. "It's appreciated even if it doesn't seem like it all the time." Glancing at Mykorian for a moment, he merely finshed off his own plate and took that and his brother's bowl adn handed it to a waitress with a grin.
Faate caught the latter half of Malik's statement and frowned. Was he back to being evil? Just like when he'd sentenced that other man to the breaker room... A glance at her father to see how he was taking that though she frowned at her uncle. Mykorian was not a child really. He was older than that.

"Ah, makes sense in a way I suppose. It at least provides an answer now doesn't it?" For him an answer was good enough long as it was plausible...at least right now when he didn't want to think too hard. And then all the attention was on Mykorian. This kid didn't seem to ever get a break. Red eyes turned back to his own sons however as one was banging a spoon and that was duely stopped and the other he was continuing to get along with. "Good to hear it."
And all the attention was on him again and this time it seemed like no one was going to say anything for him first. A long look at Malik as if he was trying to figure out who he was but wasn't getting anything. He didn't know underdark politics after all. "Um, Mykorian...sir..." Was that right? He hated being intimidated.
He giggled and then settled in her lap with a smile and a nuzzle to the woman he had grown up with as an aunt. But like any other child, he was quick to amuse and took to shaking the vial, watching the contents inside bubble and splash around in what little space that it did have to move. "Is Khai still purple?" Shake shake, fumble, grab.
"You'd be surprised what Malik may be suggestable to right now." She didn't like being so easy to upset right now...made her look horrible, made her family feel horrible, and made Malik a tad more violent than usual as he sought out ways to end her stress. "I'm just stressed...and even when Malik tries to get me unstressed...it only lasts for a few hours. Remember how I told you that you can't run from your past because it will just chase you down and then maul you? Well I'm eating my own words now. On the bright side I guess...father is coming and you'll get to see him." Turning another look to the cracked bathroom door then back to Zahara.

Malik gave a glance at Faate, and then a nod to Sevilin...before attention back on the boy.
"Mykorian. got a last name?"
taking to a bit more food, though he was keeping a bond monitor on Piper and Malikhai.
Onyx was flat out stunned, having finsihed his conversation with the elf. his father would have certianly more reason to hate the man than he had before, but good lord. back to his food selling with him, though he was running out, and having to tell customers to limit thier purchases because of the lack of supply.
Rainmare sat back and thought onthings. Malik was only more subtle in his opinion. he'd gone from megolmaniac to serial killer/torturer as far as he was concerned. still nothing to exonerate the Tier'dal from the death he deserved to have.

Faate didn't understand why everyone was so quick to question her friend. Why did her uncle care what his last name was? What did it truly matter? Chances were he had two last names because of the various times that he moved between homes. She didn't know for sure and was a little curious as well but she ordered some oatmeal for her and Lyssie and waited.
He frowned as his spoon was taken away and settled for fiddling wth the various belts on his father's chest. Daddy always had the neatest toys though he patted at his tunic probably a little harder than Nym would like. "Fuzzy? You 'wake?"
"Yes, baby, Khai is still purple but I'll fix that." Zahara made sure the top was on the vial tightly and he couldn't pop it open and studied her friend as she listened. Settling back on the bed, she raised an arm so Piper could move under it and squeezed the woman tightly. "I'm sorry things are so bad right now, Piper. Between the tournament and Malikhai's condition you really dont need this idiot after Malik. I dont' know everything about that but I do know that stress isn't good for bonds and it certainly isnt' good for you." Sitting there in contemplative silence for a moment. "Does Malik know why this is elf is after him?"
