This time he frowned at her, not because it hurt but because she shouldn't be kicking him and it agrivated the crazy that he was trying to keep under control right now. His tolerance levels for certain things just weren't that high. "Don't kick Faatallon." Turning his attention back to his food, more or less playing with it with his spoon but eating some to please his wife.
He merely blinked a little, not quite sure why Zahara seemed so fascinated by this all. Maybe that was just the way it was. Dad had often said that the drow weren't the most friendly or worldly people because they didn't like to go anywhere but the underdark. "Um, on the surface. Mom liked the sun really so we lived up there more. Sometimes though we just came back here for whatever." Tapping his fingers on the table lightly, "They taught me to not care where someone is from, you treat them the same. But also not to trust everyone you meet and sometimes it's better to hide or run than foolishly confront." Another blink, "No?"
"Sure, that's what you tell her." Finishing off all that was on his plate and merely setting the empty dish on his lap for now he gave a sigh and sunk further into his pillows. Oh, no bones. Though he did smirk as Kaelin shoved his friend's shoes off the table...she was quite in charge of things right now wasn't she? "Even if I didn't tell them how bad I am, they would know. Bonds and such, I do have with them...there's rarely secrets in my family." Though he grinned lightly and reached out, patting at her hand. She was worried about him and somehow that made him feel good. Mysterious girl powers now. "I'm sure no one will let that happen. Besides...he told me he went overboard in the field today...maybe he won't forget himself tomorrow. And if he does...well I think his wife would maim him."
She gave her own chuckle as he went about defending surface elves when she knew that at one point in his life he wasn't fond of them as much if not more as she was...and as Zahara often said Piper thought she was drow so didn't count as a surface elf anymore. But a mock look of utter disbelief. "You not doing rash things? Now now Malik, little lies are one thing but just turning nature around is a whole other manner. You're a rash man at times, just not all the time." Heading in and giving a passing look to Intharas before heading upstairs. "And now you want me to eat enough so all I'll want to do is lay around. I think you miss when I'm pregnant if only for the fact that I don't fight you about eating."

"True enough. I don't see why you put up such a fight anyway. and I am not rash. everything I do is preplanned. the only difference is the length of time between planning and action."
A slight smirk at her.
"Five to one says Zykariel is in there with his boots on something, and the girl is fawning over him like..well like you do when I'm hurt."

"I wouldn't have to if you would shut up." Though she hesitated and nibbled on her lip. "I mean that in the most respectful way possible, Daddy. Really."
She reached over and lightly rested a hand on her husband's thigh, squeezing it lightly to let him know things were going to be fine. She knew his feelings regarding surface elves. "They taught you well. Unfortunately, some prejudices, while still wrong, have reasons for being and the experiences that led to them cannot be discounted. Sometimes knowing a little more about a person or elf can help determine why they look at you the way they do. Wise thing to keep in mind as a little addition to your parent's teachings."
"Bonds, yes, I do know." She glanced down as his hand lightly tapped hers a few times and then back up with a sheepish smile. "I hope not. I don't think you could take another beating like you did today so soon afterwards. There's only so much the body can stand, you know. But it seems a rather silly thing to worry for..."
Zykariel, in the middle of this third and a half plate, chose that moment to pipe up. "Not at all. There's nothing wrong with worrying about someone that you deeply care about even if you don't truly understand the depth of that emotion yet. I'm worried about him too though I'd like to plant my fist in that old codger's face. War hero and powerful or not, he's still an a*****e to my way of thinking."

"Because I just don't eat as much as you do. You're constantly on the go, you need all the food you can get. Admittedly I get my work out mostly taking care of a toddler all day, but still. Just an acquired habit of how much I eat. And I eat in the middle of the night if I'm not otherwise occupied, remember?" Shaking her head with a light smirk. "You are at times, just give it up. And I do not fawn over you when you're hurt. I have to practically tie you to the bed to get you to stay still and let your body heal itself. Usuallying yelling is involved. I would hardly call that fawning."
And yed she got that stoic fatherly look from him with that sentence, despite how she tried to follow it up a moment later with something that covered it. Talk about aggrivating the crazy through commands and the like fashion. He could of said something more to reprimand her, but he didn't have the concentration. Thusly he merely shook his head and retained his silence...though in the world of Sevilin things, everyone knew usually what his silence ment. A slightly look to Zahara as she felt her hand on his person, not really knowing what she was particularly trying to soothe between surface elves and upstart teenagers
"Mhm, that's why I look different during tournament. Saves me the trouble of having to go through all of the bad stuff that could be brought about and the like." Shrugging lightly as if it really wasn't a big deal to him and in truth it really really wasn't. This was how he had grown up, simple as that.
"No, it's not silly to worry about it. Heck, I'm in said body and I can tell you it's not fun and I don't relish the thought of being rammed into at high speeds by a blunt pole that will make my armor beat me up more. The worry is appreciated." Turning a look over to his friend then with a blink as he expanded with a deeper meaning to it all. Aw, he was trying to help. Rather than acknowledge it, seeing as it was more for Kaelin perhaps he quirked an eyebrow. "How many plates have you had?"

"Well once you get me tied down and past the yelling, then there's the fawning. and you eat in the middle of the night I know but you still eat like a bird. kitchen staff keeps me informed."
before getting to thier door.
"And yes I know about it being an acquired habit, but the lifestyle you aquired it on isn't the lifestyle you lead now. living on traveling rations is different then when you have a home that has plenty of food."
before opening the door, and taking a quick inventory around.
"Like so. see all that food, and it shouldn't go to waste because you eat like your about to get up and leave for a month's travel all the time."

Faate merely dropped her head. Silence and stoicness from her father usually meant she was in trouble and he was just being nice right now since they were in front of company. She'd known before she'd let the comment fly it wasn't respectful and it would probably get her into trouble. Attending to her meal, she finally shook her head. "Mama, leave him alone. He's hardly eaten anything because you keep badgering him."
"It's a wise choice, truly. As long as you are proud of your heritage and never lose it, it will never matter what you look like on the outside. You know who you are inside and that's all that you have to worry about." Frowning at her daughter, she shook her head. "Faate, you're already walking a thin line. I suggest you eat and think about your words before you speak them." A glance back to Mykorian. "Yet another lesson that needs to be mastered by all."
Kelligrin, in his intelligently curious way, had been systematically figuring out how to remove the top from his cups. It didn't take him long before he pulled it off and giggled as milk ran down the length of the table and then his mother's top as he turned to her to show her. "Lookit!"
"Three, round about. I believe this is my fourth but I'll probably have the rest of this one and then go get some dessert." Giving a rather boyish grin to that as he ate another bite. "And the proud parents return. Greetings, D'vinn's. Don't worry I'm not eating all your food. Just half of it."
Kaelin's mouth nearly dropped at the amount and she shook her head. "I don't understand where it goes." She said nothing to Zykariel's little thought and merely jumped up when Malikhai's parents came back. "Yes well, good then. Very good, indeed." Twisting her fingers for a moment before she inclined her head to his parents. "Lord and Lady D'vinn. Enjoy your food. Malikhai...I'll talk to you tomorrow. After the joust." then a pause. "if you're feeling up to it..." Curtsying hastily she exited the room.

"That's what they said too." Nodding to the words that had been given to him, though he had heard them before. Regardless, they were important enough to repeat Though he noted the change of atmostphere at the table and he swallowed lightly, turning a look to Faate and silently mouthing 'I'm sorry' to her. After all, she was just trying to get them to stop asking questions. Picking up his sandwich he took to eating again, figuring silence was better until dinner was over. Though it seemed certain toddlers didn't think as much.
He blinked and looked from the little river of milk to his young son. "How did he get that top off?" Something none of their children had figured out before, but it seemed Kelligrin had. A look turned to his wife and he blinked. "Well...how long has it been since something was spilled on you?"
"He's a bottomless pit, that's where it all goes. You think he eats a lot? You should see how much his father can put down if someone doesn't take his plate away from him." Blinking oddly as she jumped up though he saw the reason as he parents and little brother had made it back. And then another blink as Kaelin hastily said goodbye and then more or less fled the room. "Gee parents, good timing. I was enoying her being all tenative. It was kinda weird..."
"Not fawning...fawning is being all eye batting and what not. I more of glare at you and the like. And so much for the kitchen being on my side, that's not fair...you have everyone on your side. And I can't help but read between the words that you're trying to get me to put on weight for whatever reason that it is in your head." Looking at the rather large amount of food in the room that was helping Malik prove his point. Though she did give a giggle. "If Zykariel doesn't eat it all first. Oh go right ahead and enjoy yourself Zykariel...save me the trouble." Turning a softer look and a smile to Kaelin, but she seemed hasty to leave and their son a tad annoyed. "Might as well get used to the discomfort...you're really going to feel it later."

Well...she took off in a hurry, didn't she.
"It gets better than that, don't worry."
before a look at Zykariel.
"well. you be sure to save some for the rest of us."
placing his sword on it's holder, before moving a seat over by his oldest son, taking a look at him.
"Well. your bruising up nicely, everything feel alright? no throwing up anything that's not supposed to come out of you or the like? able to keep food down alright?"

"Too long apparently and I have no idea how he managed it." She took the top and the cup from him and set them both down on the table, then took to grabbing napkins and wiping the milk on the table up before it dripped through and made an even bigger mess than it already had. Her dinner was ruined and so was her son's but he didn't care too much. She grabbed his hands as he started to splash and play in it and handed the slightly wet toddler over to his father. Dabbing at her own soiled clothes, she stood up and then winced as ice cold milk ran straight down her skin. "Lovely."
Lyssie giggled as Kelligrin made a mess and lifted her hand. "Can we please get a sponge or something over here? Can't you people see we've got a mess on our hands?" Faate just sunk lower in her seat as everyone turned to stare and she prayed that this dinner would be over with soon. Her quirky family was always embarrassing her like this.
Zykariel watched her flee as well and chuckled then glanced at Malik. "You must have scared her away. Good going Uncle Malik." Kicking back once again and finishing off his plate, before he threw a roll at Malikhai's head. "You're the idiot. She was trying to tell you not to compete without actually telling you, you moron. You know like a girlfriend would do? Here's a hint, silver eyes, next time don't be so oblivious. You told her you appreciated the concern. Next time add in a gesture to go along with it. Brush her cheek, press a kiss to her cheek, something. It was downright painful watching you two. Not that you weren't cute too."

"Nothing up, good staying down. At least so far. But as I've informed several other already, it feels like I have no bones yet I feel like I'm getting stiff all at the same time now. Hurt is starting to set in." And he was quite laid back against propped pillows right now, not intending to do too much moving at all. "Ow, that hurts you know!" And now bread hurt when it hit him...that was kinda sad but he rolled his eyes. "Excuse me O' Well of Advice, I'm not as up to date as you in the reading girls world and oh yeah I forgot...I can't move!" Mumbling something or other under his breath.
She rolled her eyes. "Boys, stop it. Zykariel you're going to choke and Malikhai you're only going to make yourself feel worse." Setting Dhairiss at the table she took to pouring the boy a drink from the pitcher on the table and bringing it over to him, handing it over to Malik to hold before she went back to the table and ruffled Zykariel's hair. "Aren't you cute with your dating knowledge. Careful reading women though, we're trickier than we seem."
Taking hold of his son and his milk stained hands her grabbed his napkin and quickly dried them so he didn't get milk on his person. Now was not the time for the cleaning oddness to kick up. "Nostalgic, isn't it? Faate, take your friend and Lyssie off for a bit. You have an hour before I want you back here." Standing up he plopped an arm around his wife's shoulder and pulled her away from the table. "You need to get cleaned up before you make me want to clean."
Mykorian wrapped up the rest of his food and slid it into his pack with whatever he had in there from lunch too. Getting up he waited for Faate and her sister, the three of them leaving the inn for now. "That wasn't so bad. So in an hour you have to go back right? You have a room there? I mean for yourself or do you share?"

"Choking is a waste of good food." Cutting his eyes back to Malikhai. "I know, that's why I'm helping." Giving a grin and then a roll of his eyes. "It doesn't matter how bruised you are, you have to keep your interests in mind. If you want anything to do with her after the tournament you have to let her know that her request is being considered by you even if you don't do it. Women are picky about those things." Giving a grin to Piper. "Trust me Aunt Red, between you and my mother, I know that all too well." Regressing back to his childhood nickname for her.
Faate didn't need to be told twice and she grabbed Lyssie's hand and got out of there fast. "That was a complete disaster. My mother wouldn't leave you alone and then Kelli decided t make a complete mess...I'm sorry Mykorian." She glanced back at the tavern and nodded. "An hour and he means right on the dot, too. Lyssie and I share a room with Zykariel. Mama and Daddy have their own but Kelli's crib is in with them. Where are you staying?"
"Very and in all the wrong ways." She went to take the sponge from the woman who had come over to clean it up but she was shooed away. Her husband's words added to that affirmation and she picked up the top, screwing it back on the cup then shook it at Kelligrin. "You're not big enough to drink out of a big boy cup yet, Kelli. What are we going to do with you now that you know how to get these lids off." A shake of her head. "Too smart for his own good." Thus climbing the stairs and easily stripping off her milk stained clothes and running a bath for Kelligrin. "What did you think of Mykorian?"

"Well it's only going to get worse, at least for the next few hours. Speaking of that, are you sure you want to compete in the jousting? the delegation ruling over the tournament did give you the award and win in the sword, but they didn't take away teh points on the other one. so your about even in the standing. if you don't joust, he's pretty much going to win the tournament standing, but if you do, you have a shot at being champion. That aside, I'm more concerned with you being able to take the kind of hits that jousting entails in your condition."
holding his youngest and bouncing him a bit on his lap, though a look over at Zykariel with a slight smirk.
"well, self proclaimed guru of dating and romance, what did you think about the interaction between that girl and my son?"
She was getting at the end of her rope. so far every non-tierdal she was talking to couldn't give her anything that would help her dissuade her husband from his little quest for honor thing he was doing, and some enforced previous ideas. mostly people that only knew the man through rumors. You know, the more she questioned, the more people seemed to want to force her to have to get the man's wife. she wasn't looking forward to that.

He pushed back against the pillows more as his brother reached out to touch and the like, apparently wanting affection or something. "No no, don't touch Dhairiss." Shaking his head light and then frowning to his friend again. "Well my mind isn't exactly on girls right how, it's on tournament," which brought his attention back to his father, "Don't ask him that...and I'm jousting tomorrow, I don't care if he is too. How about if after a round or two if I decide it hurts too much then I can tell you and you can withdraw me on the account of you being worried parents and me a minor who has no choice in the matter?"
And Zykariel got cuffed in the back of the head. "If you're basing your methods on me and your mother, you may find yourself disappointed later on in life. Besides, we both weren't like we are now...we were a lot more frustrating for our respective now husbands." Shaking her head and crossing her arms with a sigh, "Too much testosterone in this room, I swear. You're all going to make me have to hurt you all. Or at least get out of the room." But she took to pacing as Malik tended to his sons and Zykariel tended to the food. She was still worried about that surface elf, no matter what Malik said.
"That's just how family is. It's okay. I should be the one apologizing, I got them mad at you." But shrugging lightly he scratched at his hair and gave a shake of his head. "I don't know. I suppose I'll find a place tonight. There's good work at tournament so I'll stay till then end and then go on home I suppose. Just like everyone else."
"We'll just rune his cups closed. Or perhaps let him try using a regular cup. He just has to know that he can't throw it if he wants to drink out of one." Taking to pulling to kid from his clothes with much of his struggling in an attempt to 'help'. Was she back to that question? "He didn't say much. Then again you were doing all the talking. And he's got that moral about him that all bridge elves have about them in how they're supposed to regard the world around them. Half foolish."

"That was only the first bit, Aunt Red." Chuckling as she cuffed him. It didn't hurt and was meant out of love and he merely went back to eating. "I've learned quite a bit more about women over the years." He glanced at his uncle a moment and shook his head. "Don't know if you can call me a guru but in my opinion, Khai's got something going on. Kaelin really seems to like him for some reason, he just has to be open with her. It wasn't bad, to tell the truth. You didn't just shrug off her concerns like they were nothing which i was rather proud of you for. Sometimes the macho act is good and sometimes it will slit your throat faster than a doubled blade dagger." Mopping up some gravy with a biscuit and tossing it into his mouth. "And of course my presence probably made things awkward though she didn't beat it out of here until you two popped up. Interesting if you ask me."
"It wasn't your fault. I shouldn't have said the things I did, it was disrespectful and I know better than that." She frowned since he didn't even know where he was staying and shook her head. "All of the inns are booked, Mykorian. There's nowhere to stay." Chewing on her bottom lip a moment and then giving a decisive nod. "You'll stay with us. There's room in our room, you can always sleep on the floor if you don't want to share with Zykariel or us. I don't think there's anymore room in our bed though. And Lyssie moves around way too much." Which of course had the younger girl pouting. "Do not. You can sleep with us. Daddy won't care."
"He's too used to one with a lid on it. I suppose we could try giving him one of his own without a lid since those are light enough for him to carry. I'm just afraid he's going to get over excited and start throwing juice or whatever else he's drinking at people. He's such an active little elf." Naked herself, she took her naked son from his father and slipped into the warm bath with him. It was easier to clean him up this way and Sevilin wouldn't have to worry about getting drenched from his splashing. "To be half foolish, you have to be half wise as well." Gently shampooing the child's hair as he played with the bubbles. "I think he's lying."

"actually, I did need to bring that up. I've had your armor taken away, brought some other armor in. it's not mithril, but about as tough. thicker. added some more padding as well. now here's what I need to talk to you about. your armor, with the exception of other elven craft, is going to be lighter than the rest. so your going to move faster, and the impact you'll give will be harder. the counter is that your armor won't absorb the impact you'll receive as well as the other guy. you're body is going to take a bit more beating."
Setting the toddler on the floor for a moment.
"Basically, your going to hit them like a battering ram, thier going to hit you like a sledgehammer. but while thier armor might take a battering ram strike, you might have a little more trouble with a sledgehammer. So if there comes any point were something doesn't feel right or you start having problems, you let Zahara know. no tough guy acts, no willing through it for glory in the field. I don't care if it costs you a forfit from time running out."
Before a glance at Zykariel.
"And it looks like your going to have some interesting competition on your end as well. tell me, what do you know about the native lizard mounts, Zykariel?"
