A half hearted attempt to knock the hand on his shoulder off. "Don't touch me, and don't speak falsities to me to cusion my pride as you sing your own praises and wish to wash off your own honor." Being a teenager...well he was vindictive as any teenage boy and would twist words perhaps to suit how he was feeling. One should be willing to die for family, he had merely yielded. The other had stated he was only using a fraction of power...this was no honorable battle, he had been toyed with because he was a child. Where was this praise to highlight his skill when they both knew that skill was nothing compared?
"You've made your point, you have your victory. Leave me be and go gloat. You got what you wanted, you've sent your message." Shrugging off the hand on him with a pained noise, his look quickly going weary. Yes he was wallowing a bit, but who wouldn't? He was forced to give up protecting his father before he even really had a chance to help. Now there were no obstacles. But steeled eyes turned to Zahara a bit defensive. "I'm walking off this field." Because as dirtied his honor may be and as broken his pride at the moment, even if that was merely personal perception...he was at least going to leave with dignity. Thusly he limped his way off of the field, not lookin to his father at he passed him and the other surface elf and merely ploppped himself down on a nearby stool, starting to help Zahara get his armor off...which was in rather bad shape. Heat and the like never did well for armor.
Reaching over he rested his hand on his son's shoulder. "Stay yourself for the moment. Let him retain his dignity, then you can go see him." Waiting until Malikhai was off the field before he nodded to his son in the, go ahead if you wish manner. Thusly her turned his attention to his daughter's...friend surface elf thing. "I thought you dueled a drow boy, I don't remember this one." Another pat to Kel. "No, ploy not yours. I'll get you something nice later, how about that?" Patting Lyssie then, "You too. You can look now."
"Erm, Hi. And yeah that was me in the last round. I was just in....battle guise." Rubbing at his arm lightly in that nervous manner. He would of been a tad more friendly but it seemed the older boy was upset at the moment about something, that father looked...serious, and at least the little ones seemed nice. He rather stiffly plopped and waited to see what was to happen next. "Seems we missed most of it though. Shame."
Her attention turned to Onyx, who was holding a still content Dhairiss whom he had kept from seeing some of the more unpleasant parts of that all. She knew that boy was going to be all bashed up...armor only did but so much and even less when magic was added to it. "Can you watch Dhairiss for me? I don't want to take him down there, it will only upset him...but you have to watch him. Things aren't great right now and I can't risk something happening to him or snatching him from you." Making her way down risers and down to where her son would be, but for the moment she kept her slight distance. Men had a certain pride about them, no need to prod at his right off by being a smothering mother.

Rainmare shrugged and glanced at the darker elf...before turning his attention away from teh boy and collecting his prize, and going about to his wife. giving a look to Malik. But right now his wife was giving him a dirty look and pushed him down into a seat well away from his opponent or his family, and they started having a heated discussion in surface elvish.
Onyx glanced up at Piper.
"I'll keep him right here with me. nothing going to get to him unless if declaws and defangs me first."
But back to keeping the little one entertained with his tail right now, and completely oblivious to how badly his older sibling might have been hurt.
Malik walked over to his son, and stopped his hands, taking armor off himself. He could see how the boy was feeling in his eyes, and gave Zahara a look. She was of course busy with her healing duties, so not paying too much attention to what he was doing save that he was helping.
"I have never been prouder of you, Malikhai. You faced an enemy greater than you, and even though you were forced to yield, you gave everything you had to defend your House, and your honor. There's no shame in what happened out there."

She understood and backed off letting him walk off the field even though she knew it took the rest of his ability to manage it. Poor baby. Giving the other elf a dirty look, she handed the mage back his staff and then went about cleaning the sweat and dirt and blood off his face once his helm was removed, allowing Malik to pull off the rest of his armor and pump his son up. A shake of her head and she snapped out orders to her assistants, getting more and more supplies for his various injuries. Boy had been beaten bad. "Malikhai...are you jousting?" Feeling him out about it before she outright told him he couldn't.
Zykariel jumped up the moment he was allowed and beat it down to the healing area joining Kaelin and Piper and waiting. His gaze moved over to teh surface elves arguing and he shook his head, crossed his arms and waited.
"Yup, he's having dinner with us too." Said matter of factly as if she'd already asked him and her mother and gotten positive responses from both. If Daddy asked that's exactly what she'd say too. "He's half and half, Daddy, like me." Glancing at the field, seh nodded. "Archery is up next, isn't it?"
Kelligrin gave a grin and then a nuzzle to his father before giving a grin and a laugh. "Uh-oh...Kelli go-goed!"

That tail had been utmostly entertaining until he had actually looked around. He squirmed lightly in Onyx's hold seeing as his parents had apparently wandered off, leaving him behind. Little noise of displeasure as he certinally wasn't to pleased about this at all. "Mommy daddy going!" Why was Onyx not following? Or carrying him so he could follow? This was not a fun thing.
Malikhai dropped his hands and let the other two deal with him...he didn't feel too much like moving anyway. Everything felt broken and displaced and it felt like his insides were sloshing around. He was quite battered under that armor, various signs of burn damage from excessive heat as well as scraps and lacerations, some bruises already beginning and blood staining the clothing he had worn underneath the armor, his hair tinted a tad red in some places and mostly on the tips. At least by refusing the other elf's offer, whatever it was, he made sure that he didn't get that 'honor redemption' he had been wanting from the boy. A vindictive teenager took solace in even the little things. But he was compliant and still as possible as he let both Zahara and his father tend to him. Compliance because he should or because his mind was elsewhere was the question. A breif nod to Zahara on jousting. "Have to."
The dirt seemed highly interesting to watch even as his father spoke to him and Zahara tended to various wounds. "It's not about out there..." Not anymore it wasn't. He very much wanted to do as he usually did...that boyish boosting of his pride from his father's praise which he was forever seeking from him. Now he had it and yet he still felt that he let his father down in a way. After all...the threat still remained. Barely he lifted eyes that mimicked the ones looking back at him. "I shouldn't of yielded..." Should of just kept going till he was sure he couldn't get back up.
Her gave turned to Zykariel as he showed up as well...if anything one could say her son had quite the support structure from both his family, his friend, and even a girl on top of it all. She couldn't help but worry though, it was her right as a mother to do so. But she knew not to get in the way either...thusly it was waiting with the teenagers, being a tad fidgety.
And he was left with the children, comforting and making sure his youngest two didn't scamper off or try to get away, and now watching Faate and this new friend of hers...who was apparently invited to dinner. Okay, that was news. Thusly a raise of an eyebrow before a shake of his head ot her. "You're not half and half, you're merely two different types of drow. Esentially there's little difference." Looking the boy over once more before turning blood red eyes back to his daughter. "Yes, but it will take a while to set up. They have to clear out the grounds, including the healing and such. Malikhai needs quite the patch up after that battle." And a look down to Kelli. Did that mean what he thought it meant? Figured...
Mykorian felt horribly out of place. This was odd for him and he kept getting a bad vibe, though needless to say he was horribly surprised when he was more or less told he was attending dinner. But he didn't have anything to wear and he didn't know how to act! He swallowed hard. "W-what are we having?"

"Mommy and Daddy are going to see your brother, they'll be back, don't worry. I gotcha right now. I'm not that bad am I?"
giving a slight grin, and twitching his ears.
Malik gave a small frown.
"Malikhai. If you had not yielded, had you have kept trying, we might not be treating injuries now. We could very well be making other arrangements I'd rather not be making. What happens out there happens out there. you can't let it hold your heart down."
Malik kneeled down to his son.
"You fought a paladin, and one that's a lot more experienced than you. not only that, but you actually gave him a fight. he didn't just trample over you. You may not have won, and may have been forced to yield, but you still did our House proud. The very fact he had to use his clerical magics says something. you forced a paladin to have to heal himself, and use divine power to force you to yield. And that is something worthy of praise. You showed skill, talent, and ability far greater than anyone else out there. It may not have seemed so long to you, but you lasted a very long time. especially compared to all his other opponents."
Standing back up again, and patting his son lightly on the shoulder.
"As far as anyone is concerned, you won the sword. that elf may have gotten the trophy, but you have the prestige, and the honor."
Both of them had been arguing, and while he had healed his own injuries, his wife was still none to thrilled with him and letting him know it. whatever counter arguements he was making were not being very effective, and there was a quite audible clank type sound as she literally put a dent in his helm that he was still wearing with her staff.
Before she walked off from him, and when he got himself up to come after her, she wheeled around and used her magic to force him back down. then she went over to where Zahara was treating Malikhai, waiting patiently for things to get a little less hectic.

Lyssie gave a giggle and then closed her nose. "Kelli! That's icky!" Faate just rolled her eyes. "He's like a baby and they do that kind of stuff. I'll watch Lyssie if you need to...take care of him, Daddy." Though she turned to Mykorian who seemed uncomfortable. "Dunno. Either something that Mama whips together or something from one of the vendors. Point is, you're eating with us." Reaching over and getting ready to squeeze his hand though she hesitated for a moment, uncertain on how he would react. Finally deciding to just go for it, she laid her hand over his on the bench and kept her gaze straight ahead. "Aunt Piper's not competing is she?"
Kelligrin thought it was all fun and games and happiness and he rested his head against his father's shoulder for a moment then covered his face. "Oops?"
She was less than pleased with that answer but she knew to pull out now would be dishonorable. Poor Malikahi, he was so caught up in this whole thing that he knew no way to get out of it. She wanted to smack him over the head with a staff for his silly thoughts but that would be far too cruel right now. Merely nodding, she used her magic to patch him up as best she could and then knelt down. "Complete bedrest if you plan on jousting. You cannot beat your body this way and then expect to be able to do the same the next day. Understand? I don't want you jousting but I understand why you have to and I'm not going to say anything else on it." Handing him a vial. "Drink that, it'll help with the pain." She washed all the surface blood off of him, closing up the obvious cuts and stitching a few deeper ones then pushing her healing energies into him to help things along. Another healer came along to help since it was far too much for her to undertake all on her own and in the end it took five healers to completely patch him up. "Your mother likely wants to see you, Malikhai. Don't make her wait any longer than necessary." Turning to see the other woman there and she frowned, "Haven't you and yours caused enough damage here? What do you want?"

It was comforting to know that he was at least alright, after all Malik was with him and Zahara, who was also using others, was tending to him. Probably better got her to not know the full extent of his injuries, just that he was going to be okay. If anything was horribly wrong, Malik would of told her anyway. A look to Kaelin though as things took to calming down. "Do you want to see him as well? I'm sure he'd appreciate it." Teenage boys didn't like their mothers pawing over them, but teenage girls was another matter. "Zykariel, you as well. I'm sure your mother won't mind. And you know he won't mind you helping him...we all know he's going to need it."
He supposed there was something to be proud when it was all laid out. If you couldn't beat your enemy you could at least almost get them down, force them to their extremes and then further. If he had been older, perhaps a bit stronger to hold out longer...he may of very well put down the other. If he took out the ulterior motive to why the other was there in competition...well he did a damn fine job. Perhaps in compromise on all his feelings, he offered his father somewhat of a smile. "Suppose I did give him a run for his money." And then a somewhat serious look up to his father. "What happenes between the two of you now..." Because that was what this was about for the boy.
But his attention turned to Zahara as she tended to him as was best for the moment and in her abilities. Clean his up best as she could and stem any bleeding and the like. "Right bedrest...you're not going to get any arguing on that." Hell, like he wanted to move around more than he had to right now. Taking the vial, he uncapped it and tossing it's contents down his throat making a face before blinking up at the woman that approached them.
Little big more squriming before he quite for the moment. Turning a look up to Onyx and shook his head. "Nope, you're good." He just didn't like being left out on too many things, not that he knew what was going on anyway. Giggle to twitched ears and tugging on them in that happy oblivious way.
"She may be. Though she's going to miss out if she doesn't get to her own things soon." A pat to the child. "Yeah you did." Ruffling his hair lightly before getting up and taking Lyssie's hand. "No, I'll take her with me. You however...don't move from his spot unless it's your mother that comes and gets you or your brother who was sent by your mother. Otherwise, you don't move. Come on Lyssie." Thusly it was off for him for the moment to tend to children. Parenthood, had to love it.
"Oh, well I guess either is good. I mean I've never had your mother's cooking, but you seem happy enough when you mention it so I suppose I don't have anything to worry about." Why not indulge? After all, he had been invited right? Right. And it meant no working for food. A look down to their hands and then to her. "Oh, don't forget to give your parents that note, and I have to remember to go back and tell that woman that I delivered it."

She ignored Zahara, and moved over by Malikhai, handing over the award for winning the sword competitions to him.
"this belongs to you. My husband has no use for it, and wether he likes it or not..."
giving a hard look back in that direction.
"...he is going to forfit his claim as winner of the sword to the proper people. what he did was uncalled for, and this will be his penance for it. I told him not to go to such lengths, and he refused to listen. maybe in the joust he'll pay my words a bit more attention. I didn't realize how serious you were hurt, and I apologize for not stopping him beforehand."
Before returning to her not so happy husband, who started arguing with her as soon as she got within range to hear him argue, and she clanked his helmet on his head a few more times, arguing back and probably threating to charm him if she had to before leading him out of the healing area, more than likely to make him do what she wanted done.
Malik shrugged lightly.
"Who knows. ours is a very old hate. I can't fortell the future, Malikhai. but I can say that I won't let anything happen to my family. if he has to come calling, and I have no choice, then we may come to blows again. but what I am now, and what I was then, are different beings entirely. he won't strike me down, I promise that."
Ouch. pulling on the ears. before he got them out of his hands and wiggled them some more, and gave him a tail to play with again. though he was getting a bit concerned himself about malikhai's condition. I mean teenagers would normally be moving by now despite what was in thier best interest, right? why wasn't he out here trying to brag about all his wins?

Zykariel nodded and then gently took Kaelin's arm and pulled her in after him. Walking over to his friend, he watched for a moment, standing off to the side while Malik and Malikhai finished up their discussions.
"Yes Daddy." Watching him leave for a moment and then glancing back at Mykorian. "Oh yeah, I forgot all about that." Glancing around for a moment and then shaking her head. "Daddy just left but Mama should be coming up here soon and then I can give it to her. The lady didn't say why or what it said at all?" She was tempted to look at it herself but she knew better than to check things that weren't addresed to her. That would get her put in her room for sure.
Zahara's job was done for that moment and as weary as she was, she walked out and rested a hand lightly on Piper's shoulder. "He's going to be fine. Just make sure he takes it easy. Breathe, Piper. He's alive and with every one of his extremities and that's all that matters just now. I don't know what's going on with that other elf but I'm leaving that alone. She won't even talk to me half the time." Giving a nod to her son, she climbed the bleachers and settled down next to her daughter. "Where's your father and sister?" A blink at Mykorian. "And who are you?"

He blinked somewhat as the reward for such a competition was handed over along with an explainaton. What was this supposed to be another one of those things he wanted to do to make his own honor shine again? Though he suppposed it was a tad humbling on some level. Though apparently...he would be meeting the elf on the field again, seeing as he was still planning on jousting. Good. Eyes turned back up to his father...how could he be so casual? "I'll hold you to that promise." And so help his father if it was broken. Giving a sigh, body feeling heavy from both physical and emotional stresses, he turned a look to his best friend and his current interest in the female species. Weary smile. "Hey you two. Enjoy the show?"
Piper had nodded to her friend, and given her a smile that prehaps spoke relief. After all, she was a mother and she was entitled to worry all she wanted within reasonable means. She was still being reasonable. "Thank you Zahara...maybe I'll explain it all later." Watching the woman go before turned her eyes back to watch her son from a distance still. Silly boy.
"I remember the little things. They can be really important. But she just told me to give it to you so you could give it to your parents. Errand boy work for some steel." His free hand scratching at his hair some with a little laugh before his ears perked and attention turned to Zahara. Wow...she had healed him and even she didn't recognize him. Either his little diguise was working well as ever, or he was just forgetable. "I'm Mykorian. We've met already, though you didn't tell me your name either."
Tug on the tail. "How come we didn't get to go to? Mommy and daddy both went. How come not us?"

"That was some show alright though I'd still like my own chance to turn him various lovely colors surface elves turn when beaten." A shake of his head and he flopped down in the chair his mother had recently vacated, leaving the full bench to Kaelin if she wanted it. "We were worried about you, Khai. You looked like you were really taking it out there."
Kaelin elected to remain standing, though she did rest a hand on the back of the wooden bench. "It did look particularly bad from my point of view. How do you feel?" She knew Piper was down here and was feeling slightly guilty over her outburst from before. It wasn't their fault that Malikhai had been beaten so badly at all.
Kelligrin had an accident so Daddy went to go take care of him and I guess he knew Lyssie wouldn't listen to me or he didn't want me to have to worry about her 'cause he took her too. I think he'll be back in a little bit." Giving a nod as her mother showed up and then grinning. "Mama, this is the boy who was in the ring against me. He was in battle guise earlier that's why he looks so different now. He gave me a note to give to you." Handing it over before pausing a moment, "And he's coming to dinner. Daddy said so."
"Did he? Well, I don't know what we're having yet but that's fine with me." Zahara took the note and flipped it open, scanning hte delicate scroll-like penmanship and resolved to truly read it later. Setting it back in her pocket, she turned to Mykorian. "Battle guise, hmm? Well, pleasure to actually meet you Mykorian." She'd thought she'd seen those red eyes before. "Where's your sling young man?"

A small smirk.
"Live about seven hundred more years, you'll be surprised how many things you can do casually. But I'll handle your mother."
And he let the kids talk and went to his wife, and gave her one of those little reassuring kisses, and hugs.
"Everything's alright, nothing crippling or overly serious. give hima second or so and you can shoo everyone off and be a coddling mom and I know you want to be."
"Because your older brother just got through with eh sword stuff, and your mom and dad want to make sure he's all fit as a fiddle before you get to play with him."

"You'll at least get to teach me over the various shades of purple I'm going to be for the most part." Shifting uncomfortably where he sat on the bench before looking between Zykariel and Kaelin. "Looked like it? I'll tell you I was taking it hard. Like being kicked by Nightmares." Glancing to Kaelin again. "I think I'll feel worse tomorrow, but right now it's an all over sore and fatigue of mass proportions." Grinning though despite that.
See, everything was fine. Those were the 'don't overreact gestures' not the 'something is truly wrong and I should soothe you beforehand' gestures. Ah marriage imparted some unique knowledge. "I'm not going to coddle him...I want to coddle him, but I'm not going to." Giving a nod to that as if in affirmation to the both of them. "And what about your old friend and you?"
This girl was...playing her parents? Apparently so because he was told he could come to dinner by both parents when they apparently hadn't said such a thing before. Smart of her to do it, hopefully no one would ask questions and then she'd be all good. "Um, I don't need it?" Lifting his arm and moving it around for her, though it was still sore. "Faatallon healed it for me."
He wrinkled his nose at Onyx, blinking in confusion. "How do you be fit as a fiddle?" Trying to catch the tail again while his little mind was pondering over everything that had been said to him and how to figure such things out.

"Well, that's an experession for being in good health. see a fiddle is a musical instrument, and to get it to sound right, you have to tune it and take care of it. that's where the expression comes from."
"My old friend and me I am sure have unfinished business. but for now I won't worry about that and deal with things as they come. fretting about him won't do anything. it's not going to draw him out any faster or make him speed up his plans reguarding me and mine."
A small smirk at her.
"Oh come now, your allowed a little coddling. I'm sure he wouldn't mind it too much after his friend and the girl are gone or out of sight at least."

Cute little frown. "I know what's a fiddle. They don't have health." Cocking his head to the side then and crossing his little arms, bracers clinking together. "Why'd you say it, if it not true?"
"That's the thing about elves...we have literally forever to torture each other in various ways." Shaking her head lightly with a sigh, raising a hadn to brush her bangs out of her eyes. "No rest from such troubles at home, no rest from them outside of home...going to be one of those times again, isn't it?" Shaking her head lightly before slanting a look at him. "Oh so you want me to coddle your son do you? No 'bearing the pain like a man' reasoning? How fetching. I'll coddle him when he can't move anymore later. But right now...he's putting on that tough guy show."
