Shadow Angels are physical beings. They are able to incorporate this corporeality into the shadows they manipulate. Admittedly, a Shadow Angel isn't the most corporeal being, but they do exist in a physical sense.

eek Er...doesn't this thread generally fill faster than this?

If you can control any place that has lower light or something blocking a primary light source, that'd be pretty overpowered.

You know that vacuous area in your torso? There's shadow there, because no light is getting to it. Suddenly everyone's heart his crushed into pulp.

So... physical beings can throw parts of themselves out of shadows... if they are shadow manipulators?
PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2006 1:15 pm

Fenrir: no light, no shadow. Your heart is safe.

Kichiro: I guess. Since the Shadow Angels are basically pieces of the original Darkness given shape, sentience, and corporeality, that's how it works with them. I don't know how other shadow manipulators would explain that one.

You know. I don't know of any mythical backing for the concept of darkness being a primal element.

You've a point.

...and that's all I can think to say.

I don't see how darkness can be corporal, even in its original state.

I guess that's where I'm failing to see how shadows could hurt anyone.

If it were not truly darkness per say, matter that is very small and absorbs all light, then it would possably work out if you were to manipulate it.

*coughs, and points at the phrase "given shape, sentience, and corporeality" emphatically*

If light, which has no corporeal form, can hurt someone, who's to say that shadow cannot?
PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2006 1:34 pm

Light is as much a particle as a wave.

Particles can hurt people.

.:Blinks.:.

A shadow isn't made of particles, I don't think.

Shadow is a gradient of light. Shadow/darkness is where light cannot reach as well because something is blocking a primary light source. Or if there is no light source.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2006 1:42 pm

A lower Gradient?

So.. hm.. could it hurt something but, it would do a lot less damage than someone who manipulates light?

People can't be hurt by light? Amusing.

Kichiro Oda
I fear my point was missed.

What can a shadow actually do?

You can make nifty designs on them.

But, how is a shadow going to hurt anything physical?

Take away what it can see by having a lot of shadows?

I mean... sure the being might be unaffected by light because they are a really powerful shadow, but would shadows really hurt anyone?
A more, or I suppose less technical response compared to most people would be as follows: I believe that a "manipulation of shadows" could work with a character with the ability like mine. With solidified raw energy, perhaps it could be imbued with the lack of light and simply take on the hue; which would make it like a solidified shadow, seeing as though it has no definite shape and could become ethereal/incorporeal at the will of thought.

A less technical response would be.. : Just let it be; we're role-playing fantasy for fun, taking such things into more realistic thoughts ruins fun for some people.

I guess.

But can't someone have just as much fun by putting a light on a shadow manipulator's shadow and go...

AHA! I STOPPED YOU!

Since shadow is an absence of light, usually, or darkness is as least. Can't replacing it with light or magical light counter it?
