Both the elves in the final contest had been forced to call a draw, and both had gotten their due rewards. though Malikhai's former teacher had not been pleased at having to call a draw.

Onyx cringed a bit, now holding Dhairiss on his lap when Malikhai had obviously broken. That was not looking good. but he still won his match, which was good.

glancing back at both parents.

"Okay, who I wonder, taught the boy that fighting with broken parts is a good idea?"

Malik looked between both his wife and Onyx and shrugged.

"you say that like it's a bad thing. He's doing a fine job. though I thnk we'll have to get him a replacement helm if he wants to continue to compete. Want me to go check on him?"

though a glance back at the field, and a tap to his wife's shoulder.

"that's him. the elf we were discussing."

He walked out onto the field, golden armor gleaming and the silver scrollwork easily displaying itself. he carried in only the gold hilted longsword, resting it against his shoulder. His opponent didn't look shabby, carrying a sword and kite shield, and looked like he'd seen his share of combat.

the elf stayed still as the match began, and so di dhis opponent...expecting someone with a longsword to make teh first move, which was the point of sword and board for him. but when a few moments past and nothing...the man can in hard and fast, looking to bash the elf with his shiled and follow up with his sword.

He never got the chance. the elf waited patiently, and then the longsword came down with an incredible force, a flare of flame sparked off the blade when it impacted the shield and sundered it, leaving to cut neatly in two on the ground. the man moment of shock was all it took for the pommel of the blade, to impact his face and drop him to the dirt, followed by the blade crashing down a millimeter from the mans head.

"You lack the proper equipment to best an elven champion, friend. but you show no fear, and a sound strategy. I suggest you yield, your in no position to continue."

And when he yielded, the elf walked off the field, though nto before giving a look to the blue elf.

He was all happy and such, for him he didn't see the danger in this, only that his brother was winning and the fact that Onyx was just okay in his book now and would make a great climbing thing...which he was doing now, climbing up his fur to sit astride Onyx's neck, little hands holding onto his ears to keep from falling. Nice new vantage point to see things better now. "He's winning!"

"If Zahara wasn't down there, I'd be fussing about the broken things that don't stay very broken for long...he's going to be whining like a newbord tomorrow though...he'll be so sore." Probably suffering a case of 'I want my mommy' because he wouldn't be willing to do too much moving. Pain and even magically healed things were always worse the next day. "Though he definately needs to stay in his armor, it keeps me sane." Crossing her arms and rubbing her arms with her hands in some sort of comforting manner. "I think I'd feel better if you did, just to make sure he's not too rattled and the like." Before looking at the field once more...well well, there was a showy Norrathian high elf if she ever saw one for sure. His display was absolute and precise and he we well seasoned, not afraid to even use the power of his blade that was innate to it. Good thing Malikhai had been practicing on his own. "I don't know if Malikhai can handle him..."

He was getting his armor more secured, having been knocked around in it so much loosened you up, not to mention you had to strip pieces so others could get to your injuries. Yes, Zahara had tried to talk him out of going out there again but he said he'd deal with the consequences tomorrow. He had to be well, he had to continue and he had to face those that wanted to put him down. He'd still be well enough to joust too though with the way things were looking that may be pushed back to another day. People were hard to go down. No matter to him, long as he could joust.

"the equipment I provided can handle that kinda of a weapon. it's non magical things that weapons like that can rip right through. and Malikhai's armor is enchanted to handle it as well. But I'll go have a talk with him, and see how things are faring."

Getting himself up, letting the tournament continue on while he went down to the area and took a look at his son.

"Everything alright? How are you holding up?"

Onyx flicked his ears a bit and looked up.

"Yep, he's winning his matches so far, your big brother is a tough elf."

before turning around a bit to look at Piper, and patting her on the leg.

"There's bravery, and then there is stupidity. I'm sure Malikhai knows teh difference, and he'll at the very least, if they go head to head, take his father's advice on things."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 15, 2007 4:51 pm

Hm...magic in his weapon. Well, his own had magics in it too and quite the variety of it too. If it came to it, he would use it. But he was keeping tabs on that elf. He was already sporting some brusing around the face and the like and probably more so on his body underneath armor and clothing. But besides that...he looked rather happy about all of this when his father came to check on him. "This is intense and I'm enjoying every moment of it. How are you two holding up." He wasn't ignorant to the distress from either of his parents, he could feel it. But he worked past it and the like and had merely focused on the task at hand. "That last one got too cocky. Having a reputation is a gift and a blessing." Having turned a look to watch out in the arena again a moment. "I think I can finish this fine enough."

Reaching over, she pet through Dhariss' hair and the gave a scratch to Onyx's fur. "Tough and maybe a tad foolish. And sometimes Onyx, teenage boys do things despite how stupid they may be. If anyone know that you do. You used to be a teenager yourself once and I rememeber you getting into things just to get into thing. Fool hardy was a good name for you." Shaking her head lightly. "Well...maybe he'll get his fill of tournament this year and the like...I can only hope at least."

"I'm holding up fine. it's your mother who is a nervous wreck. However, if your going to continue on, then you're going to need another helmet. I'll have the gnome summon my old neriak helm. it should prove a bit better than the one you were using, though it's more formfitting. you might find it a bit uncomfortable with the facemask and all. but it'll do as good a job as the one you had, if not a bit better."

giving him a more serious look.

"and you had better consider using the shield if you end up against him."

"I was not fool hardy. I was curious, as benefits my feline nature."

giving her a smirk.

"And I doubt it. he'll want to come back until he's the champ. unless he wins it this first time, then he'll want to defend the title."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 15, 2007 7:09 pm

"You're still nervous." Tapping his temple in that 'I know' manner. "But she's holding up pretty well to I would say. A chuckle and a pat at his head seeing as he now did lack a piece of equipment. "Yeah that blow hurt. For a minute I thought it was bent to my face...wouldn't of been fun at all. And yeah you don't have to say it, I know it was stupid to take it off, but I couldn't see. And it was a cheap shot in my opinion." Shrugging lightly but blinking at his father as things turned serious...and he got the rebellious teenage look about him. "I'll got ya..." Which in teenage speak said 'not likely'. But not because he was being obstinate...he just didn't like shields and he had never liked them in all his years of training. That's why one wore armored guantlets. "Don't worry, I'm not sitting back here relaxing, I'm watching the others. If you defy an enemy by doubting his courage you double it...a lot of people doubt me, let's put it that way."

"Maybe he'll find something better to do. You mean I swear...always have to beat something up around you to prove that you're top dogs. If you were smart you'd do it the woman's way...deception and trickery all the way to the top." Giving a chuckle to that and the joke that even without the maiming, women were more vicious than their male counterparts." Raise of an eyebrow them to him, "Does throwing food and beating your brother with meat on top of my dinning room table count as one of those curious benefits of your feline nature?"

Malik turned his son's face to look at him, and his eyes were cold, hard, and more then serious. wartime serious, the look that made enemies know that hell was about to come.

"If you face him, you use that shield. I know what I am talking about here, and I know that elf better than you do. you're going to need the extra equipment."

letting him go and shaking his head.

"they don't doubt you. no one here doubts you. what it is, is simple ambition and greed. they want to take you down fast, and hard, to make themselves look good. they underestimate your training and overestimate your youth. and that is one thing that he won't do."

Onyx gave a grin.

"No, that was fun."

before snorting lightly.

"you only get to the top that way becuase us guys don't like to hurt the ladies. cause then we not only incur other male wrath, but then we don't get to enjoy the things women can offer to boot. like good cooking."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:27 pm

Whoa, that was a face you didn't question not to mention it was rare that his parents put thier hands on him in anything but affectionate manner. This was a serious pay attention and listen look and gesture. Giving an order without issuing one directly. Thusly he had nodded as he could within the confines of that hold. Okay, using the shield. "Alright, I will..." Blinking a moment and watching his father before him, now explaining away things. "You know him really well...don't you? From whatever it is that you won't tell me about?" Smartly asking within the confines of how much he knew his father would tell him...there wasn't a lot about Malik's past that his son knew.

"It was messy if anything. But funny yes." Shaking her head lightly. "Oh that's a poor excuse, I've met men who have no qualms about hurting a woman. In fact I've been hit and such by a few of those men without so much as a blink of consideration. Some of them even get away without being punished by those other men you speak of. Though yes...you treat us like that and no we won't cook for you or any other pleasureable thing a woman is capable of."

A slight frown...before motioning his son to sit down a moment, and taking a seat in front of him, pulling up a stool.

"there was a time, before you were born, that I wielded Malvolence in a great battle. At the time, Malvolence was not my sword, it was my master. I couldn't control it. that battle was reffered to ever after as Bloody Kithcor. it was probably among the most brutal and bloody conflicts ever seen on Norrath, adn took place around a mountain based city called High Pass Hold. the forested area around it was Kitchor."

Taking a moment to let that sink in.

"This elf that has enter the tournament, is a Paladin of Tunare, the Norrathian goddess. At the Battle of Bloody Kithcor, he and I faced one another. His sword is called Nature's Defender, a blade given to him for completeing a task for the Goddess herself. it has divine origin. Mine is a blade forged from necromancy and the soul of a powerful vampire servant of Innoruuk. We faced eachother on that field. bathed in blood, we spent at least a good two hours in conflict with eachother."

Keeping that serious look on his son.

"I fell at Kithcor. that blade rendered through armor, and through me, and came out the other side..and ripped sideways trhough me. that elf nearly severed me in half. That was my first death, and my first trip unbidden to the Plane of Hate. Now as you might know, I have died many times, with both a blessing and a curse from Innoruuk himself to be reborn everytime. that is a gift that I have since renouced for the great good of my House, and a gift you don't possess. This elf is nearly as old, if not older than I am, and has dedicated his life to destroying the Tier'dal and other enemies of his people and his Goddess."

Onyx gave a slight narrowing of his eyes.

"Is that so. and who escaped Malik's wrath on that one? I don't think anyone would get beyond his reach if it came to you. and it's not a poor excuse for any honorable male. we do have our standards, you know. besides, my father would eat me alive if I laid a hand on a woman like that."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 15, 2007 10:31 pm

He sat and the situation took on a connotation of younger days of his where he would be sitting down for an innocent watered down story of some adventure that had been had in the twenty years his parents had spent together just wandering around and what not, or of the battles fought here at home and won. But this was...darker and more tainted from the childhood stories. Facts young teenagers thought they were prepared to hear but perhaps weren't really.

He listened, and absorbed. Not...at all good details he was getting and as any teenager he wore it on his face in the looks of a slight but of disgust but intrigue as well...like watching some animal being eaten alive by underdark things. Same sword huh? That was a scary thought...but he was trying to be brave. "It makes sense what he said earlier about you now. He doesn't understand why you're alive now when he said he put you in the groudn himself." A frown and he tilted his head at his father. "Does he mean to try and kill you again?" Tournament momentarily forgotten.

"His name was Jack. He called himself big Jack. Clocked me right in the jaw, almost broke it. I showed him myself, though yes even though Malik wanted to go exact revenge, he didn't. We had just gotten here, so I don't think that he got away easily. We had worse things to worry about." A chuckle. "You're so optimistic and honorable aren't you? Glad to know your morals regarding women are still intact."

"We don't know what his intentions are. but I do know that he'll use you as an example if he can. he'll beat you senseless to make sure it comes across as a message to me and your mother. that's why I want you to consider, if things get bad for you, to yield. There's no dishonor in yielding here, in competition. and why I want you to use the sword and shield. Do you understand better now? It's not because we're overly worrying, but because there is a genuine need to have the extra protection."

"Well is was forcible beaten into my skull by a bigger Vah that held honor and standards to a level a priest would hold a god."

A chuckle, and then a shrug.

"What I heard was that in the fight to reclaim Honorsfield, most of the ruffians died. so he probably got his anyway."

No he knew what the other one wanted from his father...after all, it had been said to his face. He had felled him at Kithcor, put him in the ground and would put him back there. But he nodded to the information emparted to him this time with a serious tone to his understanding. It wasn't about padding blows, but living from them. "He'll just learn the hard way, again, that it takes a lot to put a D'vinn down." Another nod. "I'll take care of myself, I promise. Better get back up to mom now, have another round coming up." And by the looks of the ranks climbing...it was inevitable that he would be facing his father's old foe, save if someone really got him a round before.

"I don't think your father actually beat you...unless you did something very very disrespectful. That's just pack mentality and it should be commonplace mentality." Patting him between the ears again, making sure that her son was still stable his shoulders and wasn't going to fall. "I suppose you're right. Most people like that do get what's coming to them."

Teenagers. Either you hated them with all the love you possessed or you put them in the ground. There was no middle ground it seemed. She'd just dealt with two of them and the dealings with her own son realized they were all the same. Some girl who'd been loitering around the healing area had given her a bit of attitude and annoyed her. Yes, her boyfriend was in the ring and was likely hurt but that didn't mean she could just come in and ogle what was happening. Her talk with Sevilin interrupted as Malikhai had entered the ring, Zahara was busting her a** to keep Malikhai in fit enough shape for the next battle and trying to convince him that he'd had enough. Not that that worked any better than trying to tell the girl her boyfriend was fine. It all tied back into trying to keep Zykariel from racing and she experienced what Sevilin hated times three. She would cheerfully murder all three of them right now but merely forced herself to remain calm. "Delivery for Malikhai D'vinn. From Twilight." Handing over the helm that had come from the gnome that she sure as hell wasn't letting into that healing area. Malik only got in because she was herding the girl off and he'd managed to slip past her.

Her nose was still bleeding but she just kept the cloth pressed to it and avoided looking at him directly. That just wasn't attractive in the least and if her parents caught it, she'd be in trouble. "I suppose that would work best, especially down here. Unfortunately many people judge based on appearance but you could even work that to your advantage if you wanted to." Pausing a moment as she stared at him. In the ground? Did he mean...dead? She'd heard that expression before from her Aunt Lharika when she spoke of her own parents, which was not very often at all. Then again it could be since Faate had only seen her maybe twice in her entire life. "Oh..." What did you say to something like that? Death was not a comfortable subject for her right now. "So who do you live with?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 16, 2007 5:13 pm

"Alright."

Patting his son on the thigh and helping get his armor and helm on, before giving a look to Zahara and motioning her off to the side.

"In case he forgets, don't let him out of this area for a match with that golden armored elf unless he has the sword and shield setup I had brought here. I know he's liable to. Do that for me, and I'll make sure you and Sevilin can have all the time alone you need. I'll handle all the kids myself if I have to."

before going back up to the stands, and taking his seat again.

"I got him a new helm, and Zahara was taking care of him. but he's still going to compete."

"Well beat was a figurative word. but he did drill it into our heads."

glancing over at Malik's return.

"Well at least the younger D'vinn has the stubborness of the older D'vinn. Everything working out alright so far though. I think this was a good idea, myself."

Well...he at least escaped her trying to dissect him in ways that would perhaps cause a fight. He was just stressed because of the crowd atmosphere and what not...the crazy was acting up som is all. Not that the crazy should ever act up, but it happened from time to time and he just had to deal with it. While she had retired back to being a healer, he was in the stands with the rest of his children, save Faatallon. Though yay runes, they told him that she was just fine.

"You okay?" Was she about to sneeze or something? He really didn't know. But he knew better than to ask too much on it because women could be like that. But he merely nodded to her short sound answer about his parents. Just something he supposed didn't bother him too much anymore. He was quick to adapt. "I live by myself. It isn't so bad really." Shrugging to that, he had learned to deal with the quiet too. Money was the problem, but that was a neverending thing. "You live with your parents I take it?" Idly looking back towards the tournament setup, crowd sounds and the like.

He gave a smile to Zahara, knowing better than to give her any guff and took his helm. "Thanks Zahara." Where upon it was getting up and standing still, letting his father help with getting him suited back up properly and the like. While Malik too Zahara aside, he made his way back out to the dirts to face his next match. Closer and closer along victor lines...he just had to keep pushing till he met in the arena with one that now he wanted to face more than ever.

"I don't doubt he did. Your father has the utmost senses of such thing about him. It's quite charming actually when you look at it. You could take a page or two. Last I knew of you...you were rough around the edges, but then you up and disappeared on me, didn't you?" Giving him the 'you know what you did' look that slowly melted into a smile as Malik came back to sit. "Of course he is, like father like son." Shaking her head lightly. "We'll all just have to see as things go on." Watching as her son took on yet another would be challenger who fell fast enough to her son's determination to make his way through this tournament.
