She frowned at her brother who was making little to no sense and shook her head then blinked as the boy she was looking for popped up right in front of her. "The stables? Now why didn't I think to check in here?" Shaking her head. "Interested in horses, are you? I wish I would have known that an hour ago." But she realized she was babbling and her cheeks flushed self-consciously, before she reached into her robes and withdrew his batons and then his medal. "You left these in the healing area and I was asked to return them to you."

"Erm, sorta interested." He didn't even know how to ride one, he just worked with them from time to time when he really needed to scrape. But a blink as she came bearing his second hand weapons...and his medal. The batons he took with his one good hand with a nod. "Um thanks, I guess I'm just forgetful from time to time." But a long look at his medal and then a nod to it. "Where did you get that?"

She tilted her head at that answer since it seemed so uncertain but chose not to question it. Shaking the medal, she gave him a grin and held it out to him. "I knew it was yours. Some big guy had it and was passing it around to his friends. I asked him where he got it adn he told me that you gave it to him. Well, that was just silly so I stole it from him and now you have it back. You might want to hold onto that a little tighter. I'd hate it if mine got taken." Fingering her own before moving over to one of the horses and gently stroking it's nose.

"Oh...well thanks. I've had an unlucky day so far." Watching her a moment from under white bangs. Though he was starting to get itchy from the soot that was covering the various exposed areas of his body, darkening his skin. Pretending to be something was hard, or rather all something instead of just half something. An ich at his cheek had him rubbing the back of his arm over it, leaving a thin band of tawny skin exposed in it's wake as red eyes blinked at her again. "Sorry to make you go out of your way and stuff...though your ankle seems better." Another look to his medal...hm, he could sell it again now couldn't he? If those guys didn't catch him again. "Well...yeah you should get back to your family.

She frowned lightly when that boy was bullied into selling his medal. but said nothing on it. she didn't know what the entire situation was, and when they'd went thier seperate ways, she went back to the tournament. though not before overhearing what had happened with it getting restolen back to it's rightful owner on the way back to her seat. served them right. they'd been lucky enough in the first place it'd been her and not her husband that had found them. that large one would be missing his hand probably right now.

Malik listened to his son, and gave that information a long bit of thought. before folding up the note and throwing it away, and turning to his son.

"I'm not withdrawing you, if that what you were worried about. But I am going to ask that you think carefully about yielding if you come face to face with him. He's not someone that plays games, and he, despite your training, is probably still far above your skill."

He clapped his son on the shoulder, and looked him in the eyes.

"I have all the faith in the world that you will do us proud. But try not to get yourself seriously injured in the process. And this guy will be looking to make you yield through injury. Be careful, alright? And I know you prefer the twohanders like Ebony, but for this I'm going to have a sword and shield brought. Just in case, alright?"

Onyx got that annoyed look when he got his tongue grabbed again, but then smack his jaws a bit to get the taste of grubby hands out of his mouth.

"At least he's not still screaming in terror. that's gotta count for something."

"I hate days like those." She giggled as the horse snufled her and shook her head. "I don't have anything you'd like. Nym ate it all." But her gaze went back to the boy and she frowned at the dirt on his cheek. That was odd but the strangest things showed up on drow skin. "Probably." Though she made no move to actually do so. "My dad took care of it for me. Are you sure you're okay? You look like you should be sitting down, not playing with the horses. Though I'm sure my daddy could heal your arm up real good. I'd do it but I don't know the rune and he'll get mad at me if I start bleeding so soon after the tournament." Pulling out a handkerchief, she handed it over and then brushed her fingers across her own cheek. "You've got a spot."

Oh good, no worries about being taken out of the competition because some jerk wanted to play old grudges die hard or something and ruin his own fun time. But look at that...in the same breath his father was pretty much telling him to throw a match! That was absurd! D'vinns did not lay down swords because someone may have the upper hand, they fought to get what they wanted! Of course on the outside he was silent, only giving a quiet nod in acknowledgement. "I'll be careful..." Bleck, shield? Those made battle so cumbersome in his opinion...but he could at least agree to his father doing it and then just not use such things when it came time. After all...Malik said just in case, not that he had to use it. "Alright, better safe than sorry...just like you didn't want to yank me out."

She gave another laugh, well if anything Cymie's kids were good for a laugh. Patient if anything too. "Well if you hadn't stalked us when we had just woken up, he wouldn't of had to scream in terror. You should know better than to sneak into places like that...me and Malik could of been doing something that may of very well scarred you for life."

A stop agian before looking at the held out hankerchief...though a look at his sleeve told him enough that that wasn't a spot of dirt, that was a spot of clean on his person. "No sense in getting it dirty. Nice things shouldn't be so." As for the rest he really didn't have a clue what she said but supposed that it had something to do with magic. Quick make a lie to get away. "I have to get going before my parents get upset. Maybe I'll see you around alright. Name's Mykorian." Giving her a little salute before heading off...and promptly finding a bucket of water, dumping it over himself and rubbing the soot of his person. Now he was a little deeply tanned elf with the hair and eyes of a drow. Stepping into an out of sight place, he took time to wipe off the rest of the soot and then change into his last pair of good clothing, stuffing the rest in his bag and pulling his hair back before setting his arm in the sling again and wandering back out into the general training grounds. Oh yeah, he was slick.

She didn't really see how a scrap of fabric could be a nice thing but she tucked it back away and shrugged. "Nice to meet you Mykorian, I'm Faatallon." She gave him a wave watching as he more or less ran from her and shook her head. Boys were so weird. She guessed the only thing to do now was to go back to the stands where her father was. It was too bad Mykorian had to get back to his parents or she would have liked to have sat down and talked to him for a little bit. Maybe found out how he did some of his tricks. "Daddy, can you show me the rune that you used to heal my ankle?"

Malik popped him on the back of the head.

"I can still get your thoughts without even needing Malvolence. I'm not asking you to throw a match. I'm asking you to be willing to yield before he permenantly injures you. There are some wounds and injuries magic can't heal."

Oops. that probably really hurt that woman. well..too bad. Malikhai's instructor walked off the field to no applause and literal silence. they'd had a little tussle, her and this other woman. she used conjuration tricks and wizard spells in a decent combination. even managed to bring her down once. and that was all it took. a gravity flux spell sent teh woman rocketing up into the air, and a mezmerization spell made sure she didn't do anything to stop her fall into the ground. served her right for making her skirt dirty.

Onyx got that wide eyed 'oh my good lord' look to his face, before clapping his hands on his ears.

"I don't want to hear that! I mean come on. la la la la la..."

He blinked to his daughter, turning his attention from the theatrics in the arena. Mages often had a bad habit of overdoing things to be showy, even he was a tad guilty of that. But he shifted uncomfortably from the general atmosphere of the place and tried to focus on his daughter for the time being. Tournament was starting to make him feel...well, crazy. "Sure I can show you, it's not too high a level for you. Thusly taking out a piece of charcoal that he kept stashed in one of his belt pouches, putting a little bit of space between them, he drew the rune on the bench in the space between them. "This is what it looks like on base level. Mine looked different because I had several other runes twined into it."

He cringed and rubbed at the now sore spot on the back of his head. Ow...had to remember those things. "Well it sounded like that at first..." Shaking his head lightly as if to set right what his father had knocked loose. "Right, I'll watch myself. Mom wouldn't appreciate crippling at all." In his head he was trying to rationalize it. Technically, even if he did drop the match he could probably ear enough points to get a stood standing after joust. Of course that was all barring the fact that he even met this guy on the arena at all. "Don't worry...you better head on back up now, things will be starting soon enough." Unfortunately...Malikhai had his father's sense of pride.

She shrugged innocently, "I'm just telling you that you should knock and giving an example of why you should do just that. You're the one who's making me provide examples and the like." Bouncing Dhairiss lightly as he found it quite amusing that Onyx was reacting as he was to something or other that he himself didn't quite get. "You only bring it on yourself. Now behave, you're regressing into a kit."

Mykorian slipped back out into general visual range, looking over the rest of those that were gathered. That woman was still there, that was nice to see and the rest looked like the magic players were exchanging with more weapon oriented others. A look down to the medal he held in his hand...he could go sell it, again, now or he could stay and watch the tournament some. He liked tournament after all...hm, might as well watch. Maybe even from the stands.

Natural excitement at being told she could actually handle something showed through on her youthfully exuberant face though she quickly quelled that and paid close attention. Watching the subtle dips and curves of the tricky rune, she traced over the charcoal, never minding the fact she was in fact getting the shavings and powder on her fingertips. "Different things twined in because you're a Master and you like to show off Daddy." Giving a giggle to that before frowning in thought. "But if I use just this basic one then I'll be able to heal someone who has a sprain instead of a break and he'll be just fine, right? Or was that only because you added in the other stuff as well?"

Zahara was none too pleased with the illusionist either since she was going to have to take care of that woman. She was brought into her on a stretcher and by the time she was finished with the poor girl, someone was ushering her off to go take a break. Leaving the healing area, she pulled out her linkstone. "Sevilin, tell Zykariel to babysit and come take a walk with me." Something felt off though she couldn't quite place it.

"It's still a horrible image for an impressionable mind. and besides, that's something you should do in your own home not out here anyway."

Before noting the girl fly up and come crashing down.

"That probably really hurt. Tier'dal got short fuses, don't they."

"Yes, I'll go deal with your mother, but I'm keeping an eye on you."

before walking away, and taking a moment to pull away his conjuror who was wowing judges with summonings and such. probably would win his competition, but this was more inportant. making his request, the gnome nodded and would make sure the items were brought to where they needed to be.

Then he went back to his wife, picking up thier youngest and settling down.

"I miss anything good?"

She saw him and before he coudl slink away again or object, took him by his uninjured arm and dragged him with her to another elf, who was wearing gold and silver armor.

"This is the one. despite his thought, a little coal hardly confounds an illusionist."

the other elf turned to face him, and looked him up and down for a moment.

"Ayr'dal. Half-elven. Why would you want to sell that medal, that was hard won, and you almost broke an arm for it."

"I'm not a show off, merely extra things to help with pain and the like." Taking a moment to overlap and twine in a second rune that was indeed for some pain management. "Sometimes it's best to chain things. And yes, it will work just like that." Him? She must of meant that boy. He was going to have to start keeping boys off with a stick, wasn't he? "You don't need the extra things, it just makes things more tolerable." And then his attention turned to the linkstone in his pocket, which he pulled out and nodded to. Lightly he placed a hand on his dauhter's shoulder and handed over the charcoal. "Practice it a few times, and be good for your brother, your mother wants me." Breifly informing Zykariel he was now the babysitter before heading down to his wife. "A walk? They making you go away so you don't tax yourself too much?"

"Private is private. I have a whole inn floor to myself, that should say a thing or two don't you think? Silly thing." Giving a shake of her head before reaching over and scratching between his ears again for old times sake. "Pretty much. Takes a lot of time for that fuse to get tolerable, but it does eventually work out." Moving her fingers to scrach under Onyx's chin...he really was like a bit cat to her. "Dhairiss isn't afraid of Onyx anymore and I scarred Onyx. You call any of those good?"

He gave another giggle, reaching up and tugging lightly on his father's hair because he lacked a collar to tug on, but he seemed in much better spirits now...and quite wriggly and trying to get away some. Excitment when it caught him made him seem less lazy, even though he never truly was a lazy child he was just calm and quiet.

Uh oh, acosted again. "Hey wha-" Normally would of put up more of a fight, but he was rather tired and achey and didn't really want to waste more of his energy than he had to. "I um..." Before frowning. "Hey! I'm not half elven, I'm all elven!" Pointing to his ears which indeed indicated more full than half. He was just...half and half elven. "In all correctness, I almost got my arm taken off for it...but people gotta live. It's just a medal." Even if his boyish pride would rather he keep it.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 10, 2007 9:11 pm

"I know, I was just teasing you Daddy." She took the charcoal and promptly began doing just what he'd said, even twining a pain management rune in there as well. That one was harder and took her longer to learn but she was getting impatient and was afraid she wouldn't be able to find the boy once again. If it came down to it, she could always just use the healing one and leave off the pain management. Mykorian could handle a little pain. Practicing it a few more times, then actually scribing it once on her older brother for practice only, she followed her father's path to once again attempt to find him.

"Yes, apparently all healers for these events are working in shifts. I handled the junior competitiors and two rounds of the upper and that's my limit." Weaving her way through the crowd, she chose the least traveled area and headed towards it. Normally it would have been nearly second nature to wrap an arm around him or touch him in some way but at some point that tendency had fallen by the wayside. Was there a barrier between them? Or was she just sensing somethingg esle entirely? "I just feel like we haven't had any time to ourselves since we got here and we haven't talked in a while at all. So tell me, Sevilin, how's life been treating you lately?"
