She sagged against him for a moment, unprepared despite his warning and then pushed herself into a firm standing position. "I can do this, right?" She was just as charged and magically able as he claimed and she trusted him implicitly. Grabbing her cloak, she pulled it on and tugged at her skirt and shirt then nodded. "I'm ready."
"I'm throwing in with the family for now. We're all supporting Faate together since she's going in with the younger group. Besides, Mom will be down on the field playing healer and Dad could probably use the help. Pluse it might get me on his good side and he'll be a little more lenient about letting me race." Not that he wasn't going to race if his father put up a fight but Malikhai needed at least the illusion that he was considering such a thing.
"I need to have him go pull me out of the competitions anyway. I don't care to be showboating myself in front of my peers." The glint caught his eye as well and he turned for a moment and frowned. "That elf next to the white horse is the one who gave me the note. I'm sure of it. Be careful." Thus leaving his friend, he caught up to his parents who were out in the fair grounds. "Morning family. Faate you need to hurry up or you're going to be late."
Zahara shook her head to her oldest. "Don't tell her that, Kariel. We don't want you wandering off all over Deepwater either. Stay close or check in every once in a while." Wrapping her arm around her daughter's shoulders, she led her over to the area she needed to be in. A quick conversation with the facilitators and she took the badge that labeled her a healer then took her place.

Malik smirked lightly at hsi wife, and let her lead the way, carrying thier youngest son, bouncing him a little bit.
"Big cats eat what we eat. they just have sharper teeth because they hunt thier food down, and don't have it served to them on plates. Trust me, he's alright. he won't hurt you at all I promise."
"what? not going to use the 'I eat bad little boys and girls' thing that Bastet and Aura used all the time on the kelves?"
Before following along, sniffing about a bit.
"Boys are already here. Hey, did you know your older son has a girl now? hmm?"
He looked over, noting both of them. the blue one was dressed for tournament. apparently either he hadn't gone to his father, or he'd understood the note and simply decided to brave it out or thought it was an intimidation tactic. Either way this was going to be somewhat more interesting, wasn't it.

"You can do this. No worries." Patting at her back comfortingly before it was more or less a walk through the crowd he was earlier phiosophical on, heading to the tournament grounds. And look at that, there was hsi son. "No one's late...they have to do their customary frilly official opening and the like." Making sure he had all the kids, save Faate. he pressed a kiss to his wife's cheek. "Rememeber they come to you, not you to them unless they can't walk." And turning a look to Faate, her getting a kiss as well, "Don't fret, not as pretty when you do. Come on remaining blood, let's gran seats."
Attention again returned to the flashy competitor as Zykariel had pointed him out and then promptly left, that was just like Zykariel, wasn't it? Reaching into his armor, he withdrew the note and looked over it again before he noticed that he was the one being watched now for the moment. Hm, lets be brash and bold shall we. Bolstering his own courage, he strode over to a respectable distance. "Knew my father, did you?"
He was easy to cheer up too, so it didn't take much to turn his mind from things that were upsetting to his little self. "They should learn to eat on plates and not with their fingers." Obviously something that he was being taught himself thus everyone had to be learning it to. "Khai playing now?" Well, they were headed into tournament stands, so that must be it.
She rolled her eyes at Onyx, swatting at him. "Malik doesn't like to use scare tactics on his children, it's rather cruel regardless. And yes we know...not that he has a girl mind you. He's merely at that age where young men want to test the world of females and see where it gets them." And of course since they were reather prominent to be here, good box seats for them. "How come you're not in tournament? You were last time. Finally grow up?"

"Yes, yes they should."
before getting him in a nice seat, and mussing his hair.
"Not yet. there are some things that have to be done first. like rule telling and setting up the field for play."
Onyx rolled his eyes lightly, before plopping down in a seat.
"Moonstone forbid it. I have 'responsibilities' now and I can't go 'playing the brute' so much. and he said he wouldn't heal me for a week if I did. and I get a sneaking suspicion he made some deal with some spirit to make it hard for me to get any kind of healing if I chose to ignore his threat."
Though a glance at Piper.
"Oh I think he's gotten a bit beyond testing. Had I not been there, I dare say he'd been on a date."
He looked up at the younger elf, and ignored him for a moment, finishing getting wildfire's armor on.
"that is hardly the world for it. Knowing implies a relationship. He was, and is, a monster. and I personally can testify to that claim, and was there to personally bury him. I saw him fall. I felled him. How he stands here now is beyond my knowledge."
before walking out from wildfire's side.
"but now, I have to worry about his heir apparent. I see you chose not to withdrawl your entry. So I will deal with you, as I dealt with him. like father, like son, I believe is the human saying on it."

He stuck his tongue out, "Rules." And no he wasn't even listening to the announcements of said rules and all the other frivilous things that came with tournament tellings.
"You sound like you have kids of your own. Do you? I would find that quite the think of amusement in my book. But it would do you well to relax for a bit and not pick a fight." Slapping at his arm. "Well then you should of left him alone, that boy hasn't even had his first real kiss yet...let him try."
Whoa, this guy was serious...sounded like he was out to kill. Though this was tournament and you weren't allowed to kill each other. Sure, peopel died but those happened by accidents or people who didn't seek care for wounds that they did get. "Someone's living in the past...and personally, I have no clue what you're talking about." Such things his father had never told him of, well not in detail. He shrugged in his teenage way. "Withdrawl on your word? I withdraw on no one's word. And you would do well to ignore the words of humans for they are often falsity...as my father tells me." Thusly strolling off to take his own place to listen to things. Though he did grab a little passing boy and gave him some steel, and penning out a note: 'Bloody Kithcor rivals?'. He'd hold onto his original note, but he thought he'd at least see if he could glean some information from all of this. "Take this to my father, you know whom he is I'm sure."

She gave a chuckle at her husband's advice but knew it was well meant and well received. One of those things she had to remember about participating in this way that she could not go running onto the field just because someone got hurt. The event drew to a close and then her job came into play. She ignored the rules and all the other blah blah blah and waited for the announcement of the junior competitions. It went in order by age group beginning with a few Lyssie's age. It was pretty obvious to her that they'd been forced into it by their parents since all of them were terrified and there was nothing truly extraordinary from them. They were too young to really understand and use their magics and it was foolish of the parents to condone their entries.
He grabbed Lyssie's hand to keep her from running off and followed his father into the stands, settling down one bench below him and pulling Lyssie up next to him. "Don't move, Lyss. Just watch. Faate will be out pretty soon." Though he was searching the stands for a certain female, trying to figure out if she'd elected to wait for the later events or if she was present now.
Faate was sitting in a warm up area, listening attentively to the rules and everything else that was going on. Her gaze was drawn to a surface elf who was using enchantments as entertainment and she silently prayed that she wouldn't have to go against someone like this. She watched the first few entries of her own age group, analyzing their skill and taking the time to calm down. Her parent's advice stayed strong with her and she slowly took her place on the field. Glancing at the supervisor, she raised her eyes to the stands pinpointing her family and then gave a nod to show she was ready. It was time. She gazed at her opponent, a rather smug looking older boy and braced herself.
She hadn't meant to let him strike first but she'd been paralyzed by her own fear of the sheer amount of people watching. Blocking quickly, she'd barely had a moment to recover when more magic was being tossed at her. She had to get her head in the game. Blocking out the crowd and the other sounds all around her, she focused for a moment and let the boy throw more at her, choosing to stay on the defensive rather than the offensive, nullifying everything he tossed at her with something else. Highly aware of her own power base and her parent's warnings to be careful with it, she didn't want to hurt anyone. She effectively tired the boy out and won her match then was led to sit back down while the others had their chance. Shortly though, she was going to go against the winner of those.
Kelligrin had been rathlse and givng mslef clapping along wiht everyone else and giving giggles when he heard them from the others. He was sitting on his father's lap, a toy in hand and his cup was on the bench next to him. He wondered briefly if he threw his cup onto the field would it make pretty sparks like the others were doing.

Onyx gave one of those grins that said 'wouldn't you like to know' before shrugging lightly.
"There was free food. you know I never pass down a free meal."
before watching preliminary magic competition.
"Magic is for people who can't fight."
pouting lightly. he wanted to compete too, but no, damned old Moonstone wasn't going to let him.
"Rules are important. so no one gets overly hurt."
Like crippled. though someone did stop by with a note, and Malik looked at it? gave a slightly puzzled look to it..and then glanced at Onyx.
"My son wasn't drinking anything, was he?"
Onyx looked back behind him at Malik.
"No...should he have been?"
Malik folded the note up and handed Dhairiss over to Piper.
"I need to see our oldest. I'll be right back."
He watched a moment, and shook his head.
"I would not expect a Tier'dal to understand honor."
before taking his spot to wait for all the magic and such before thier own competitions.
She was watching as well, and gave Faate a warm smile and a wave when she noticed the drow watching her. she wasn't as...stoic, as her husband. after all, this was not Kithcor, and these were not, with the obvious exception of two, Tier'dal.

He had been watching her progress through things, and obviously they were going to end up taking to each other. Well good, he wanted a challenge...he was sick of playing baby magic and that girl obviously wasn't going to be dispensing baby magic. At least he'd have something to do when things came down to the wire. If anything, she was cute.
Little ones, how cute. He'd never put Lyssie in something like this, they simply didn't understand and would fling magic around...like now. When you had power you had to careful with it. But the teens in Faate's range had quite a good grasp on it. One or two were rather competition looking for his daughter. Lightly he bounced Kelligrin, trying to make sure he was keeping entertained. A look to his oldest. "Are you racing?"
And he was hit again. "Moocher you always have been and no magic is not. Don't be so mean, you're just cranky because you can't play with the other children. Don't pout and maybe I'll buy you a mouse to play with later. Would that make you happy." Teasing him because she could before a perplexed look as Malik handed over Dhairiss. Pep talk to Malikhai maybe?
Oh that was below the belt and he looked over to the other. "I know honor, and before you start saying things based on race you should know your facts about who you are speaking of. I'm half Tier'dal, thank you." Because he was never ashamed of his mother's surface elf blood that also flowed through his veins. No one should mask her contribution to his being by getting the facts wrong. But back to waiting...waiting made his skin crawl, made him ansy and made his fingers twitch in anticipation. But he blinked for a moment at noticing his father and turned his attention that way. "Aren't you supposed to making sure mom doesn't bribe my competition to let me win?"

"Yup." He shook his head. "That tactic of hers is going to be figured out and someone is going to be smart enough to turn it right back around on her. Or maybe not." Said as she bested yet another opponent without throwing a lick of offensive magic. "She gets that from you, doesn't she? The sit back and wait thought. Mom and I would have been in there throwing it in wild abandon."
She had indeed wiped out three girls and two boys easily enough. They were quick to throw the first strike, thinking it would give them the advantage. She was quick to block and dodge and let them remain on the offensive. She was also watching the boy. He appeared a bit older than her but not by much and she recognized him from seeing him a few times in the halls at school. He was good, possibly even faster than she was. After watching a few others, he wiped out the final opponent and the declaring match was called.
They were both given ten minutes to relax and recharge so to speak before she was told to walk out onto the field. In this match, nearly anything went and the previous rules changed to accompany the higher skill level even down to allowing battling with staffs if the opponents got close enough. She met his eyes and gave him a nod then signalled she was ready. Taking her stance, she tightened her grip on her staff and readied herself.

"Sometimes making the first move isn't always the way to go. If one sits back and watches their opponent even for a few seconds, they can gleam a great deal of information. Like how you can look at how a rider sits on their horse and know their riding style when racing." Might as well try to be personable about the whole racing thing, even if it was through relation to other topics.
He watched her, a baton in each of his hands, grips tightly held in his palms. A nod back and then it was time to start. Unlike her other opponents, he didn't quickfire off his first move, but merely started in that circling watching motion, forcing her to circle as well if she wanted to keep her back protected. His first offense didn't come in the form of magic, but in a physical attack to her person, trying to first put her off guard by making her have to attack with her staff to counter his own motions...once he found even the slightest opening he took it, a quick flash of magic up his weapon that arced to hers and thus to her person.

"That's true." he watched the unfolding events and shook his head. "Physical attacks to jumpstart. I don't think she was prepared for that one." Thus a glance over to his father. "Think she has a chance at winning against this boy?"
She'd been ready for anything, well aware of this boy's skill. They'd both watched the other progress and she knew it was going to take more than defense to win this battle. She braced her staff, raising it just in time to keep the blow from raining down on her head and then jumped back, firing off a nullifying and quickly throwing a fireball right back at him. She kept up the circling, tempted to use runes and rather glad that her father had locked them down. She gave a grin to the boy, rather pleased that he wasn't going to take it easy on her and searched for her own opening where she promptly sent a stronger burst right back at him.

"Most of these young ones think that magic battle means magic battle, that it limits them to just that. One has to be ready if there are weapons on hand, either to act as offense, defense, or distraction." Seemed his son was going to leave the realtions being made to base answers and Sevilin was partly grateful for that. But a pause in conversation, tending to his two youngest for a moment before back to his son and his eyes on the arena. "If she keeps her wits about her, she can."
Tricky little vixen, and fast. But he was fast as well and rather than try to spell defend the fireball thrown back he was quick enough to phsyically dodge it, getting little more than a scorch to his sleeve. Back to circling though and he watched her with keen eyes, a swipe up of a hand and her own magic crackled and disippated agaisnt his own momentary magical shield. Another circle and he zig zagged close to her before throwing a baton at her to try and distract while he drew his free hand back loaded with a blast of green energy, throwing his hand forward like a punch and duly sending it rocketing to her in fast pure speed.

"Oh joy aunt Piper, a mouse of my very own. will you fill it with catnip?"
yes he was being a smartass.
"And I am not cranky. and I am not always a moocher. I just don't turn down free food and drink if it's available."
sticking his tongue out at her.
"Onyx is occupying your mother. what's this note about Bloody Kithcor about? that's not something to be joking about at all."
Malik's face was serious and he had that important look about him.

She pat his cheek. "Only if you're a very very good boy. Then I will fill it with catnip." She could play his game and wasn't afraid to either, though she kept one arm wrapped around Dhairiss who still wasn't quite sure about Onyx. He loved animals and all, but it was still intimidating. But when Onyx stuck out his tongue, Piper caught it between her fingers and held it so that he couldn't draw it back in. "Now see what happens when you stick your tongue out? I may be smaller, but I'm still the grown up here."
And it was apparently not the time for jokes. Dad had that look that he got when Malikhai was in trouble for a good reason and knew it. "Um...I..." Well how better to explain this than show the note? But he didn't want his father to possibly step in and take him out of tournament...he could lie, but feared the consequences of doing so once his father found out, and Malik would find out. He always did. "Well, someone gave me a note and it mentioned someplace called Bloody Kithcor and you and that I should withdrawl." Okay, give him a little but not all at first. Keep the note out of sight and that said sender of note was in attendence currently.

"She's doing pretty good considering. Oh, by the way, I have no desire to compete so if you'd like to insert your influence as my parental figure it would be very much appreciated. Though Uncle Malik's probably right and I should be reading everything I'm told to sign a little more carefully." He did with race documents, often questioning one or two things found on the paper.
She wasn't quite sure why he was throwing his weapon at her but she let it bounce off of her staff. That left her quite unprepared for that magical punch coming straight at her. She was grateful for her height since she didn't have to physically drop to the ground to dodge the stream of energy and was able to quickly regain her feet. She was tiring though and it took more focus to keep the constant stream going. Sending a energy ball slamming into the ground right in front of him, she let the sand flare up and moved to the side, dipping in and cracking him across the back of the knees with her staff.
He had by now picked up his cup and was banging it on his father's knee intending to shortly launch it into the arena. "Sissy need help!"
