Onyx gave a smirk to the younger D'vinn.

"I'm not that hardheaded. and for your information we had no idea where we were going. I just took the totem and ran, so to speak."

before licking milk off his jowl.

"I left a three part structure. Keely is in charge of house staff, Broog is the Breaker leader, and I left one of the droag in charge of security needs and such. so there's really three people in charge. and they all answer to Zykariel's conjuration teacher."

Yep. that way anyone doing somethign stupid would have to deal with more than one person on leadership issues. safety precaution in case one of them was assaulted.

"So it's your fault then? I see." She continued eating her food before shrugging to Malikhai. "I haven't quite decided, truth be told. I'll probably stay for the whole thing. Aren't your competitions some of the last ones?" Casual question, no need to seem like she was here for him only. "What totem?"

She chuckled, "Be careful with that sort of conversation. To have it in full, we'd be here all day. Like the time Malikhai and Zykariel believed they could fly." Joking aside, she gave a nod since she'd heard mention of hte race and had a feeling her son was with his friend, figuring out how they were going to scrape the funds together to enter. "Fair enough, you know about it. Are you upset that he's probably going to enter?"

"That's still called fate Onyx." Shaking his head lightly and taking a moment to down some of his food and drink. Hm, tavern food never was too bad tasting in his opinion. Wiping his mouth with his napkin, he gave Kaelin a smile to her answer. Wasn't that nice? Much. But a nod casually, "Yeah, I'm here till the very end...or at least that's what I'm planning on doing if I don't get knocked out first."

"I try to forget that incident." Hurling themselves off of the battlements at Twilight wasn't exactly the best way to see if one could fly. Children, they jumped in with such abandon to most things. Giving a sigh he accompanied the noise with a shrug. "Suppose there's nothing I can say to keep him out of it anyway. No matter what I say he's going to race. I think I do have the routine down now." Shaking his head lightly. "Best to just let him race this time, don't you think?"

Despite the fact that Keely is human, and Broog already was compromised once? Sorry A'mael, but making yourself a team to run the house barely if any soothes me. We can be sure of things when we're personally around to watch things, not so much when we're not there. I suppose that Underdark paranoia is finally starting to set into me. Isn't that lovely? Only took half a century."

"My mother had a raven shaped stone, like a totemic representation of her essence. I took it, and used a power of hers to get here."

finishing off his food, and getting another milk to go with another finger food thing.

"which is how we ended up here, simply becuase I chose to stop here rather than wait five seconds or so. impatience got the better of me as it is known to do."

Malik gave her a small kiss.

"We have to keep up appearances. anyone that can get to broog, knows I would put broog in charge with keely. no one but my gnome friend knows that I appointed that droag in charge of security. thus, we keep up appearances, let them do something stupid thinking they won't get caught, adn then they get eaten by the droags. good plan, don't you think?"

"You won't get knocked out in the beginning. I've seen some of the names that are entering in your events. You'll be fine." Though she frowned and paused a moment, trying to link things up in her mind. "So...your father is a giant cat and your mother is a bird. That would explain where your wings come from. Does mating generally occur outside the species on your plane...earth?"

She sighed softly, thinking for a moment and hten shaking her head. "Usually you are upset with him for racing because he pays no attention to his other commitments. Here he has no prior commitments and no studies to be done either. If he's not entering the tournament, what reason do you have against him racing, Sevilin?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 03, 2007 8:20 pm

"That would be just the point, I have nothing to say against it because there's nothing for me to say. Do I still not like it? Of course I still don't like it because it's repetative behavior that can go bad in certain situations. It just fosters his 'I don't need anything else but this' mentality on certain levels I guess. So I'm keeping quiet about it this time...just making sure that I know this time that he will indeed be racing rather than you two going behind my back."

"Impatient and forgetful to stop by places." Shaking his head but givine a smile to Kaelin as she seemed to at least give him a vote of confidence. "Know who's who do you? I'm going in blind, so I suppose it's nice to hear someone has faith in me when they know what I'm against." He couldn't help but chuckle as Kaelin put things together in her head. Good show on her part, after all if one wasn't given the long detailed version that would be the best guess as to how things went. "He's rather birdbrained too at times."

"Your plans always end in someone getting mained, don't they?" Giving a soft laugh and nuzzling at him, momentarily watching their son go back for a second cup of cider as happy as he could be. Yup that was the trick to him, give him something he was enamoured with and he was good for quite a bit. "I suppose I can rest easy enough knowing we have both of the boys with us. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to still be watching this tournament and everything going on."

Onyx promptly spat out the milk he'd been drinking, and coughed and gagged, pounding himself in the chest to clear himself...before giving a glare to Malkhai.

"Listen you smurf. no need to be helping that idea along."

before turning his attention to the girl.

"My father had wings. he looked much like I do though his coloring was more akin to a puma or mountainlion. a bronzish color. He was...unique. My mother was once a human born portal or darkness. I'll spare the details, but some ritual made her more like a human/vah halfbreed. and no, interspecies mating is not a big thing where I come from."

He was growing impatient. watching Zykariel from the crowd, adn noting he was not doing what he'd been paid to do. prefering to spend time with those..women. couldn't even think what he wanted to lest his wife hear it. He'd give him ten more minutes. Then he'd call him out on it.

Malik shrugged.

"It's a Tier'dal thing. one of those ingrained traits I suppose. If you really worried about Keely, we could have brought her with us you know. I couldn't have hurt. and I know you'll be watching. I've already got th e restraints ready in case he falls down or bleeds a bit and you go trying to rip someone in two or turn them into a porcupine."

Giving her a little grin and a kiss, before taking another drink of wine from his glass.

Kaelin was no pleased when milk was sprayed in her direction and she wiped her face with a napkin, clearing her throat in irritation. Obviously she was wrong. "All cats have the same features with the exception of their coloring so he couldn't have looked like you if his coloring was unique. Yours obviously is not." Pausing a moment to recall knowledge she'd gained from various sources. "Winged cat or not don't they tend to travel and live in packs? How do you know for sure your father is your father?" A moment passed and she finished up her food. "Although your mother would have fit in quite nicely down here. Portal of darkness indeed."

"I had no intentions of stopping him and contrary to your belief, he rarely actually asks me about joining a race. He and Malikhai discuss it among themselves, making the choices since it is his steel that supports his entry and then he may let me know in case I wish to come watch. I enjoy the races but he knows you do not. The only time he asks is when it interferes with something else already planned, like school or another event. But all that being said, if he comes to me and tells me he joined, then I will be sure to confirm it for you."

That was nasty. Though despite that he was kind of amused by the reaction he got out of there. A frown though, "What the hell is a smurf?" Blinking with a light head tilt before shrugging and then giving a chuckle as Kaelin went about telling Onyx more or less what was what and that being vague wasn't something that worked well in any case. He had to agree though, details were always good.

"The point is when it does overlap something else, you do tend to tell him yes whether or not it's passed by me or not. Like the last race that he attended, that he missed school for and more or less shirked school all together for." Shaking his head lightly but being barely confrontational...he rarely rehashed things over again when there was nothing he could do about them. "So I'm sure he'll rejoice this time over my lack of protest. Where did he go off to anyway? I am still slightly paranoid you know..."

"And then I don't have anyone to trust to watch my horses. Keely is fine where she is, she knows what she's doing." Through an annoyed frown at him before slapping a hand back into his chest, much to the giggles of their toddler son next to them, before shaking her head and draining her glass to it's halfway mark. "I'm not going to do that to him. I'll merely contain myself until the proper time that I can mother him and maim whomever I may need to maim."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 05, 2007 8:51 pm

Onyx gave a slightly annoyed look.

"I think a little visual aid is required here. allow me."

A flare of red demonic power, and scribing symbols and runes in the table.

"My father's pack, or pride...consisted of mostly humans in an archaic manor near a human village. it consisted of himself, my mother, two twin elves, one mexican human, two egyptian humans, and one egyptian human/feline halfbreed. it also contained one other human male, and a dragon."

figures in red forming to the sequence of his words.

"As you can see, my father is my father becuase he's the only one even remotely like me. not to mention, I have three sisters as well that were born after I took moonstone and left. Rand the Raven is my mother. it's a nickname moreso than a physical description."

Pointing out the figures.

"Any further questions? and I'll have mother or father get you a smurf doll so you can see one."

"You won't do it because you know I'd restrain you before you did anything stupid. but I know better than to think that the idea won't cross your mind. So there."

draining his glass and setting it aside.

"So. any plans for you and me while we're relatively alone?"

She was slightly taken aback by his tone of voice but could see somewhat where his annoyance came in when he actually showed her what he was talking about. "Quite defensive, are we? I just asked." Glancing at the figures she gave a nod. "So there were no more like him around then? Your mother is not a Vah."

"Well, yes, I usually do. But we've just about beaten that spider to death over and over again and I don't feel like rehashing it just now. But you are probably right. Or he might just take it in stride but be pleasantly surprised adn strive to get your acceptance by doing his schoolwork more often." It was a stretch and they both knew but stretches were possible too and it never hurt to hope. "Girls, go find your brother."

Both his sisters were suddenly latched to him and he frowned. "You two are not supposed to be out on your own." He decided to cut his time with the ladies short and then took both of his little sister's hands and led htem over to the table where he'd seen Malikhai earlier. He hated to interrupt his time with Kaelin but he had been paid for the delivery. "Special delivery for Malikhai D'vinn from a creepily strange surface elf. He's an opponent apparently. Said you or your father would know what to do." Giving a shrug then a nod to Kaelin and Onyx before he dragged his chattering sisters off back to his parents. "Okay, parental embarrassment phase is complete. Can I go inside and pretend to die now?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:00 pm

He rolled his eyes at Onyx's showing and merely gave a dismissive gesture to him. "If you can't tell me, then it's not important what one is." Turning his attention to Kaelin then. "He's complicated in an existing way." Before a blink to his friend as he dropped by a note. What he was getting threats or something already? Oh well. It was duly stuffed inside his armor and another look was given to Kaelin. "Well, I personally need to head off," throwing his steel on the table, enough to pay for all three of them, and he gave a smile to Kaelin. "I'll look forward to seeing you again soon Kaelin." Little bow and then a look to Onyx. "Stop by and see mom okay? It's been ages." Thusly off with him.

"I could only hope for that, couldn't I?" Giving a chuckle and shaking his head, keeping an eye on his daughters as they wandered off, only to come back with his oldest son in tow. He had to give a smirk to his son's words. "Yes, you can go inside and pretend to die now. We're all heading back...things start up tomorrow."

"Not if you beat me to doing something stupid. After all, that's your heir and I'm sure you wouldn't want anything happening to your dear first born. And you're more liable to lop off a head than I." Smiling sweetly at him and batting her eyes. "Mmm...naughty things once Malikhai comes back and acts as a babysitter? Then again...I do so enjoy making you work for such things. Tempt me Malik D'vinn, for old times sake." Thusly vacating his lap and picking up their toddler...the personal tournament challenge was on.

He was up dark and early without complaint for once, already armor clad he was just finishing up his friend's race papers and getting the fee ready, bundling it all together. Though is attention turned to the note that he had been given the day prior and he took hold of it, opening the folded paper. Well, let's see what this says.

He was standing by his room window, watching things go on below. "It's crowded...like a colony of ants...all running around in two directions, one destination in mind, one singular thought, one objective of the day and it's as if there is nothing to act as a deterrent to the commotion, or one could call it monotony." Oh look...Sevilin was philosophical today.

While Sevilin was being deep and philosophical, she was changing their youngest son's diaper and getting him dressed and ready to go for the day. He babbled to her the entire time, rather cutely and she settled him on the bed with some toys and tied his boots. "We're soon going to be ensconced in that monotony, Raven, so do be careful how you look at it." Checking to make sure Kelligrin was occupied, she walked up behind her husband and laced her arms around his waist, moving up on her tiptoes and resting her chin on his shoulder. "That would be an interesting thought for the beginning of a book though. Why so glum?"

Faatallon was studying hard, trying to reconcile everything that she had learned over the course of her lifetime in order to prepare for what was likely to be the most challenging thing she was going to undertake. Her sister was still in reverie, mostly because she'd had a hard time getting into it the night before. Books were spread all over her bed, and she was randomly repeating spells, all in preparation.

Zykariel was up dark and early as well, taking care of Destyny and checking on the standards for the race. He needed to familiarize himself with the track then be sure Destyny was ready for it as well and make sure everything was regulation. He'd left his parents a note explaining where he was and that he had a linkstone on him just in case something happened. His mother had confided to him that his father was content with his desire to race since he wasn't allowing it to take the place of something he deemed more important and he wanted to prove to his father that he really was responsible.

Malik gave her a smirk, and let her do what she needed to do. Tempt her eh? Oh he certainly would be able to do that.

"I may maim more easily than you, but your more vicious than I am."

before turning to other things, and developing plans to tempt Piper like she was teasingly requesting of him.

Tempt her. well how was this for tempting. Malik choose to practice things on his own, just in case he chose to take part in the tournament, and did so with his hair tied back but shirtless, and pantless, wearing more of a loincloth thing to do stretching and certain medative exercises with.the cooler air mad his skin sheen with morning dew, while his eyes remained focused on what he was doing.

Onyx was crawling around the roof, and down the building, and using a claw to unlatch the window, snuck in and decided just for fun, to stalk up on Piper's bed, and sit there, silent as the dead, and watch her and wait for her to wake up. just to see the look on her face.

The note was written in elegant surface elven handwriting, and was probably much shorter than even Malikhai would have thought.

'I was there at Bloody Kithcor. I laid in the ground many, and put back in the ground many more after Innoruuk's curse.

Are you sure you want to get involved, like your father before you?

R.W. '

"A book that's pessimistic perhaps." He blinked as if he had been somewhere else a moment. "Glum, do I seem so?" Lightly resting his hands on top of hers in front of them. Turning a look back over his shoulder and pressing a kiss to the top of her head before a sweeping look over the children in the room, letting his attention lazily drift back to his wife. "Opening ceremoies are today. When about is Zykariel's race?"

Malikhai blinked at the note, tilting his head at it lightly. Bloody Kithcor...now what did that seem so familiar? He was sure he knew something about it...story? No. Communion? Well...maybe. Then again maybe not. He just knew it was familiar and not at the same time. Whatever the familiarity, it seemed to involve something about his father. Now quite sure what that statement exactly meant...what was that a riddle? But being the teenage boy that he was, he merely tucked the note away and resolved to maybe ask about it later if he didn't forget first. After all, he had tourney things to do. Scooping up his papers, or rather the papers that needed to be submitted for Zykarie's race in a day or so's time, he left his room and sought out his friend.

Him and his mother were still snuggled in bed. Another fussy night for him when he realized that he wasn't going back home for reverie, but it was quelled quite well as he was allowed to sleep between his parents, soaking up the comfort that both had offered. But with daddy now out of the bed, he was curled into his mother. Of course being as little as he was, he was easily stirred from already shaky reverie. Giving a yawn he sat up and rubbed at his eyes, blinking a few times before staring at the large black winged feline that was sitting on the bed. Processing...processing...and scream bloody murder.

Nothing like a high pitch scream and a spike of fear and danger across bond lines to jolt her out of reverie. In two seconds flat she was up and had retrieved a dagger from under her pillow and had it help to Onyx's throat. React first then see what was going on. Took her eyes to focus a moment before she blinked in surprise and recognition. "Onyx?!" But snapped attention again as she was latched too and she pulled a quite frightened little elf into her lap, trying to comfort him. "It's alright baby, shh...there's no trouble."
