Keep us updates, Lamb. I do hope everyone feels better soon.
I got a bit of bad news from my doctor m'self this morning- she thinks I might have a seizure disorder. Here's hoping the MRI and EEG go well.
So... Has anyone here ever had an MRI? ....Can you tell me what to expect?
I've never had one and I'm a tad bit nervous >.<;
I've had a metric buttload of MRI's (4 in the last 2 days in fact). It is nothing to worry about.
What they'll do is typically ask you to strip down and put on a gown unless you make a note to wear NOTHING with metal in it. You'll put your belongings in a locker usually.
Then they take you into the MRI room and you lie on a narrow bed. If it is with contrast, they will give you an injection or IV of irradiated iodine – this is no worse than a typical stick and the iodine just makes your crotch warm.
Then the scan will start, the bed will rise up and slide through a ring, it is noisy but typically not the tubes you think of for BIG mri's and CT scans so claustrophobia is not too bad.
They will ask you to hold you breath time and again and hold very still.
After 2 to 5 minutes, you're done.
It has become less of a dread then a bother for me, heh. But you name a test, and I have probably had it – even ones where I have to drink barium for 2 hours while strapped to a gyroscope scanner that looks like something out of a bad sci-fi movie.
