"Can you what?"
a slight grin at this son, looking down at the activities, before glancing over to Faete.
"I can promise you most of your competition is no better or worse shape than you. this is a new thing this year, so there's bound to be more younger participants. Though I imagine there will definately be some bigger mages there, you shouldn't be so fearful. remember, those that study illusions can turn those fears back on you."
before looking over to Zahara and her fussy child. then on to his wife.
"Malikhai's papers should be there by now. you want me to go get him or you want to let him come back on his own? and did you enter anything this year, Chev'?"

"That." Tapping the glass again, being as vauge as ever when it came to such things. That was just the way he was, but he was still young so no need to worry about it. Pressing his face to the glass again and watching, little blue tipped ears giving a twitch.
Piper shook her head and gave a chuckle to her son, petting through his hair lightly and his attention was still stuck out the window. Hopefully he wouldn't be too fussy tonight when he realized that he wasn't going to be in his crib safe and sound back home. "He should be fine, but if you wish to fetch him...don't ruin his little bit of fun he's having. And yes, I did. But you'll just have to find out which ones later, won't you?" Giving him one of those grins that said she could be making trouble.
It's not about winning Faate, don't focus on it. And no, I won't be upset if you get knocked out early, though I wouldn't think about that if I were you, you'll only end up sabatoging yourself." Giving her a grin before his attention turned to the rest of his family save the oldest child. "Jewelry hm? Well I guess that sets you up as spoiled." Letting his look raise to Zahara. "I see he's finally up."
A grin to Zykariel first. "I take that as a 'enter me Malikhai, I want to race'. I'll keep it in mind and go down there later to do so if you really want." Turning his attention back to Kaelin as she knocked on his armor. "Armor is only so if you don't know how to handle it. My mother says I should be more worried about the harm coming from being in it, not what's happening outside of it." Giving a grin and a light noise. "I will. What did your mother enter?"

She was still worried about it and her father wasn't being much help. At the very least he didn't expect anything out of her that she wasn't able to give and seemed of the spirit to let her do what she came to do and that would be that. "I guess you're right." She continued watching the older kids prove their worth, so to speak, but stayed quiet about her concerns.
"Of course I am. I'm your best girl." Giving a grin and then a glance over at her sister, waiting for the denial she was sure was coming. "Well after Mama anyway."
Nodding, she shifted the child and whispered to him in drow. "He was startled by a bit of magic that came just a little too close but he'll be alright." She comforted the baby for a few more moments then when his cries had died down to sniffles, set him on the floor so he could explore.
"I always want to race. You, as my manager, should know that by now." Being called off he saluted to the pair and strolled off to talk to some of his schoolmates and that ever present group of girls. They seemed to follow him like magnets for which he fully blamed his father though he'd never tell him such a thing and give him an ego boost.
"So you think you can handle such things? Well, time will tell now won't it?" She listened for a moment and then inclined her head. "Your mother is a wise woman. Listening to her will probably get you farther than anything else in life." Shifting her weight, she shrugged. "She entered the lower magical competitions and short and long range weapon event. Apparently she intends to take it all by demolishing with her whip and sword with a dagger or two thrown in for spice. She's quite the entertainer when it comes to fighting."

"you're a little young for magical flare and fighting. but how about this, we'll go down later and get you something nice and shiny. will that suffice?"
before looking to Zahara's explanation, and Piper.
"I think I'll let him do his own thing. he can come back when he's ready."
The male elf kept his eye on the blue youth a moment longer, before fading off into the crowds. his wife left to do her own shopping and studies, while keeping an eye on her husband and making sure he didn't do anything rash or stupid. She'd put a dent in his helm if he did.
Malikhai was interrupted only for a moment by his illusions teacher.
"You're entered in the events you wanted, your father had me drop off the papers, just so you know."

He gave her a reassuring pat to her back in common gesture around their household. "I promise you'll do just fine. Don't worry about your name, or what others are expecting of you. You've no need to impress anyone." Turning a smile down to his younger daughter. "My best girl after your mother huh? At least you know not to crunch your mother's toes. She doesn't like it when those are broke." Thusly turning an amused look to his wife and son as she set him off so to speak. "I'm sure he'll find his own fun in that when he's older. They all seem to eventually do."
"Yes yes I know." Blinking for a moment as his friend more or less wandered off, leaving him with Kaelin. Was this a good or bad thing? Either way he reminded himself not to come off too cocky, women seemed to find that laughable. "I believe I am capable to a degree. Training in such arts has been quite the part of my life since I was young." Giving her a nod. "Sounds like it would be a wonderful match to watch. You're not entering anything?" Slight diversion to his teacher as she had stepped up, "Oh, thank you ma'am. Send him my thanks as well, and good luck to you in your own events."
He seemed to think a moment, before nodding and bonking his head against the glass. "I 'spose that'll be a good deal." Obvioucly terminology he was picking up from his parents. Rubbing at the now sore and quickly reddening spot on his forehead, he gave a pout and thusly it was lifting his arms in the pick me up gesture.
She was happy to oblige her son, picking him up and pressing a kiss to the spot on his head because to children, kisses solved any bodily ache and scrape there was. "Long as he stays out of trouble and doesn't somehow get himself into a brawl beforehand. You know I don't trust this place after the first time...I worry."

"We all know Mama comes first." She skipped over to the window beside Faate but grinned back at her father. "You love us all but Mama gets it in a different way." Thus she took to pestering her sister, trying to find out why she wasn't responding to her various jabs and words. Normally she'd be yelling at her by now.
Moving to stand beside her husband, she gave him a smile. "She sure doesn't but she does like being the best." Watching the little one crawl across the floor and around the room before going back to the pile of toys she'd set out for him. "Magic is a fun thing, Sevilin. Especially to small children. It just scared him right out of reverie and I wasn't too pleased." Giving a nod towards their oldest girl, she raised an eyebrow in a 'what's going on there' sort of way.
"Ah yes, the long-kept, highly secret, lucrative D'vinn training methods kept as such since you are holed away in your giant fortress and no one ever comes in or goes out." She laughed, "Or so they say." A glance to his teacher as she popped up and she noted that not only was she his color but he was respectful to her. "No, I chose to sit this one out." She leaned a little closer and confided, "I'm not horribly good at magic..."

"Lyssthyren, don't bait your sister. Leave her be and find something else to do. Watch your little brother." Last thing they needed was the children fighting among themselves. But his attention turned to Zahara as she walked closer to him and gave him one of those looks. "If you would of let him alone in his crib last night and left the crib in the nursery, you wouldn't be feeling worn out yourself." Looking to Faate a moment before back to Zahara, "She's just worried is all. The others are boasting around, just some apprehension I'm sure."
He didn't know whether to be upset that she was mocking him and being sarcastic about his ways, or be amused that she was merely trying a hand at humor and being harmless about it, simply poking for playful fun. He took option B. "More of, 'you get knocked down until you get it right and can stay up' type thing. And I think you do well by not believing all that you hear." But a smile as she leaned in closer and he gave a light laugh himself. "Magic is only one aspect of any elf. And I'm sure it's just one aspect of you. Come now, there has to be something you excel at."

He walked down though the throng of people, having selected an at least edible leg of something or other. couldn't have been turkey. no birds...but did give some time watching people riding lizard mounts. they reminded him of a similar breed of creature in Norrath. coudl only find them native in Gunthak though.
Another person noted Malikhai, and walked right over, smacking his horse on the flank. black fur and feline eyes grinned at the rider, though Onyx stood at about his waist even mounted up.
"Well well. haven't seen you since you were a little baby. How's everything been going?"

It was no fun baiting someone who wasn't taking it anyway. She gave a pout but left her sister's side and plopped down in front of her little brother who promptly handed her a toy. "Mine?"
Kelligrin thought about it for a moment and then gave a nod. Getting on his hands and knees he crawled over to her and crawled into her lap giving her a noisy kiss. "Sissy mine."
"I didn't want him to keep the others up," she defended her actions though gave a nod. She knew better than to mention that apprehension and fear was one of the reasons she hadn't wanted Faate participating in the first place. "You've already soothed her and told her she'll do just fine, I suppose?" Glancing at the children for a moment, she tucked the moment away into her mind and then cleared her throat. "Alright kids, let's go explore and see what's going on outside."
"That's usually the way we all learn. It's an unfortunate part of getting much better at everything we can do." She was about to answer him when she jumped back in surprise at the large cat-like beast that popped up. "Ah!" Scurrying around to the other side of Malikhai and his horse, she remained there, one hand resting on the hilt of the small sword at her side. "I'm fair in weapons fighting. You know him?" asked in a rather low voice. Was she goign to admit she was scared? Nope. And she wasn't protruding it either. Animals could smell fear.

Kerick gave a snort and kicked a leg bag at whatever had just hit him, regardless of who it may be. Only things he really had respect for were his mother and Malikhai. But he didn't startle, though the flames tipping his mane and tail did flare up some. Blinking at his horse's irritation he turned to see someone quite familiar. "Onyx! You should be ashamed of that fact too. You missed the best fun of growning up." Chuckling. "Well enough, bit of problems recently. "Didn't expect to see you here, come to compete?" But his attention focused perhaps eagerly back on Kaelin whom seemed a bit surprised. "You'll have to show me sometime Kaelin." Offering a hand to her for a moment as if to pull her back around the horse. "It's alright, yes I know him. He's a friend of my mother's. This is Onyx, Onyx this is my...friend, Kaelin."
"Yes I have. It's up to her to just keep her calm. Like most she thinks that things are expected for her even if they are not." Shaking his head lightly with a chuckle. "She'll realize that she's overthinking when she gets into the ring and realizes everyone else is just as nervous and worried as she is." Plopping an arm around his wife's shoulder. "Exploring hm? Sounds like a good idea...and I can do some scouting too." After all, tournament ground were mass gatherings. He may find a trace of that foreign signature that laced the D'vinn house.

"Not this time. I'm here to watch, take a break for the work on the surface. and I didn't miss out on the best part, I think right about now would be the best part."
looking over at Kaelin.
"Well well. a charming little lady, if not a bit jumpy. but I don't blame her. I doubt she's ever seen me or Moonstone."
Offering his hand to her.
"Well met, Kaelin."
Malik sat down on teh vacated bed, and tugged his wife over onto his lap, and gave her a warm hug and a kiss.
"Everything will be fine this time."
She came to her husband, and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"I'm going to rest for a bit before this all starts. you behave, or I'll dent your helm."
He gave her a hug and a small grin.
"I'll behave."

The baby grew tired of playing with his sister and the same toys and crawled over to a table, tugging on the tablecloth. It didn't seem to want to come off though so he tugged a little harder and a little harder until it all came down at once...as well as a vase that hit him in the face. He immediately began to cry even as it shattered around him.
"No Kelligrin!!!" Lyssie screamed when she saw him but it was too late.
"I've never actually come to one of these and there's enough vendors that we might be able to pick something up. Hearing her youngest screa, she glanced over. "Kelli..." A shake of her head and she walked over and picked the baby up and soothing his tears. "He's just exploring, Lyssie. Yelling at him only confuses him." She leaned down and picked the book and tablecloth up, handing the baby over to her husband and cleaning up the mess from the vase. "Now if there's no more drama to be had, let's go. Faate, if you aren't coming with us then you need to go see if your Aunt and Uncle care if you stay with them. I don't want you in here alone."
"We'll see." She paused a moment and studied the paw that was held out to her then took it and shook. Though she didn't understand why humans did such things, she had taken a class that had taught her a little bit about human customs so she'd be prepared if she ever came upon one and wouldn't take a goodwill gesture as a sign of hostility. "Onxy and Moonstone. Named after diamonds of the earth, are you? Pleasure to meet you Onyx but what are you?"

"Enjoying the surface then? No wonder we never see you around. I think mom would pluck your feathers for it." Grinning and giving a laugh and a slight questioning look to Onyx's mentioning of the best part. What that teenage awkwardness? Great. "I'm sure anyone is ready to jump at large winged bipedal cats, Onyx. But pity you won't be in tournament, I won't get the chance to perhaps cross swords with you." Shaking his head and looking to Kaelin. "He's what you call a Vah, or as I've heard a big lazy house cat."
She gave a sigh as she was pulled down and more or less comforted, their younger son giggling at the action and snuggling into her as she snuggled into her husband. "I hope your right, because I'm not going to be able to handle a repeat of last time in any sense. Gods help me, I don't think I'll even be able to watch Malikhai joust...he hardly has your frame yet and even you took a hit hard." Shaking her head and then getting up, settling Dhairiss in Malik's lap in her place. "How about I go get us something to drink from the tavern downstairs, hm?" Not waiting for his answer before sauntering off for a moment.
He was happy to sit in his father's lap and play with his fingers the way he often did. Hey, daddy had blue fingers, he himself had blue tipped fingers, it was fun for him. Standing up in his father's lap, one boot on each of Malik's knees he gave a happily little smile with closed eyes before another laugh. "Where we go? When we go home?" He knew this wasn't home at least.
A shake of his head as the children took to breaking things. Oh look it was just like home now. But he took the baby and further soothed him before taking Lyssie's hand as well, tugging her along. "Faate, don't stress alright? Be careful." Tugging Lyssie out of the room and nodding for Zahara as well as they headed out. Crowd couldn't be too bad. "We need to stop by and put Faate's papers in."

"I'm a Vah. powerful feline hunters, like my father before me. But as for teh tournament, I'm forbidden thanks to Moonstone. he said, and I quote, 'If I have to heal anymore injuries on you for the next two weeks, I'll let you bleed to death.' and it's enjoyable. still needs alot of work. Moonstone and many of the others are working all hours to regrow, replant the surface on a grand magical scale."
A grin at her.
"Named after stones that are the color of our fur, indeed. So...what are you two kits doing? want to go grab some festival food?"
"Hey, they cheated and that's why I took that hit that hard. But it you don't want to watch that's fine.."
Before a grin as she sauntered off and left him with his youngest son.
"You'll want to watch all the competitions, won't you? and cheer your big brother on?"
before holding him around the waist and bouncing him a little bit.
"We're in Deepwater. a big human city. and we'll go home when all the competitions are done. It'll be fun, I promise. lots fo excitement and yummy foods."

"Okay, be a good man for me and give me a bit of information. Oh and a bottle of wine, the good stuff nothing shoddy." She smiled sweetly to the owner/bartender as he smiled back and disappeared a moment, coming back with a leather bound book and said bottle, setting both in front of her. Sitting at the bar a moment, she flipped through the pages, taking in what was written on the pages. Hm, lets see who's here...
He grinned brightly again, apparently having forgotten about the bump on the head of earlier and about the red spot in the middle of his forehead. Enthusiastic nod to his father's question. "Mhmm, Khai's gonna win!" At least that's what he thought. Kicking his feet some in the moments where they were slightly in the air, giving another giggle before his hands latched to his father's forearms and he gave a little frown as he tried to comprehend what he was being told. "Done by dinner?" After all, he had to be in his crib after dinnertime usually. His sleeping space wasn't here so that meant they had to be done by then.
