"He has a plaque that says that on his study wall. I don't think anything else could even come close to the victory he felt from that one." Rubbing at his mother's shoulders again, he finally realized that it would be better to leave her with that final thought and gestured to Malikhai. "Nah, they won't throw food because then Dad will have to clean and that will jumpstart another fight which no one needs right now. They'll just pretend like the other one doesn't exist and we may hear yelling and banging noises from their room later tonight. They are so predictable when they fight."
He headed out of the stables, then retook up his jousting gear and hopped back on his horse. "Damn straight, I'm lazy. Why prove myself to those idiots who already know what I can do and if they can't, they're just going to look down on me until I make them feel stupid which is embarrassing to them and I'd rather not play with it. I'll just watch you make a fool of yourself as you make good friends with the dirt."
"Umm...both?" She tilted her head for a moment then explained. "Kelligrin is crying in the middle of the game and Dhairiss got real upset about it too. Told Kelligrin he shouldn't do that 'cause it's not nice. Which is true but Kelli thought he was being yelled at and he started to cry even harder. Faate's trying to get them both calmed down but I said I was gonna get you so that's what I did." Nodding enthusiastically.

"Now now. didn't say that, said that you need some more energy is all. if you weren't so worn out you might have the power to get a girl outta me."
a smirk while food was served.
"and you don't usually win our little debates. normally I win, you get huffy, then you sulk, and then I get somethign thrown at me and I have to come apologize and act like I didn't know what I was talking about."

"Adults, what are you gonna do with them?" Shaking his head and yes mocking the adults as they often mocked them. Turnabout was fair play now wasn't it? Muchly. Giving a sigh he turned a look to Zahara before following his friend back out and back to what they were doing. "Alright then, we keep going till we can't move, right? That's what we've always done." Giving a snicker. "You'll have to laugh at someone else, I don't intend to get to know the dirt that well."
He blinked at the child...well, that was a perfectly childlike explaination. Picking her up, he strolled back to the library where the children were. Dhairiss just looked like a little pissy elf and Kel was jsut balking. Setting Lyssie down, he picked up Kelligrin, jostling him lightly. "Hey now, why are we crying? Crossed wires are not good things." Before looking to Dhairiss...who was literally dolled up. Oh that was gonna be priceless. "Right...so we're having game troubles?" Turning his look on the most conherent by age child in the room.
"I still think you need to try a little harder. About a year to get Malikhai, ten years to get Dhairiss, both times with help and now we don't get anymore. Nature is not our friend, if we ever by some form of fluke or miracle have another one, you better make it count if you want a daughter. Or you'll just have to content yourself with playing with the Inthara girls." Shaking her head and giving a look to food, already resolving she might as well eat it all anyway. "You don't win because you're right, you win because I get tired and don't want to argue anymore. But you do get things thrown at you, I'll agree on that.

"Beat them with their own spoons is sounding awful good right now. That's what would happen to us if we refused to apologize and work things out." He gave a chuckle at his friend and then a pouting look. "You're going to take away my entertainment? Fie on you. I suppose I'll just have to find another sorry sap to laugh at as he hits the dirt time and time again. Preferably against you." Thus he dropped his 'lance' into position and went at his best friend once again, to continue until indeed they could barely move.
Her fingers automatically grasped his braid as she was lifted and carried back into the library before sitting down and hugging Dhairiss. She started helping him and Faate pick up the pieces once Kelligrin had been removed from the midst of them.
Faate nodded. "Kel was trying to play too but he went about it the wrong way and ended up crashing the game instead. Dhairiss got upset because we'd just spent the last half hour setting them all up and it is annoying. I told Kel to stay over there and play with his gem but he didn't listen." She sighed, "He usually doesn't. But I think he's crying because he fell even though it didn't hurt him."
Which, yes, the baby was quite upset because he'd felt the floor hit his bottom and even though there was no pain, he still didn't like it. He rubbed his face into his father's shoulder and sniffled. "Said sorry. No more play."

Malik rolled his eyes some.
"Alright. I'll try harder. how about we'll have our time after every meal. then you can't complain that I don't try enough."
But taking some of his food and rolls.
"And I am right most times. you just don't like it because in alot of our arguments, our age difference shows because I have more experience. and yes, plates, pillows, you even tried to throw Malvolence at me once, as I recall. and you got quite upset when it bit you. which I also had to apologize for."
Deepwater. Interesting name, reminded him more of a gnome city than a human one. But it was rather...homely and enjoyable. not Felwithe, or even Kelethin...but good enough. many half-elves, and he and his wife had spent a great deal of time helping them try to rebuild the surface. it was a shame that most of them had never seen a glorious sunrise, or a gentle rain. But he was sitting in his inn room, polishing his armor.
He was elvish, and his flaxen hair hung in a single braid down his back. hsi eyes were a rich glacial blue, and showed wisdom, strength, and compassion. on the bed by him, was a golden hilted and intricately made b*****d sword, with golden runes scribed up along the blade, rubies set into the handle.
the armor he was polishing was golden, with silver scroll work. a gold helm with a red romanesque plume sat on the table. the elf looked up when the door opened, and in stepped another. She wore robes, green and flowing, with runic embroidery and opened showing a little cleavage. along the edging was a sun with the furthest down point going down tot he edge of the robe. her eyes were also blue, and her golden hair done up in a single topknot, her hair still long enough to flow to her rear.
"He is here, then." "Yes. As you asked, I sent him a sort of challenge. But not from you." "Why not?" "Because things are different than you thought. he has a wife, and children."
The male elf blinked a moment at that.
"Indeed. But that matters little. Tier'dal don't marry or have children for love. they do it to advance their family lines and strengthen their Houses. No more, no less." "She's not Tier'dal. if I had to guess, she dresses and dyes her hair more like a Fier'dal."
That got a look of stunned silence.
"You're joking. It's not like you to make that kind of joke." "I'm not joking. And before you say it, no, there's no enchantments on her." "then she's out of her mind." "That may be, but they are still married, and still have children."
She moved to sit on the bed next to him, and patted his hand lightly.
"You don't have to, you know." "I choose to. You didn't see him at Kithcor. You didn't see what he did. I owe those halflings, elves and men that died there. especially to him." "I was there. just not in the Forest, remember? I was at Highpass. we've seen atrocities before. why is this one Tier'dal the thorn in your side?"
the male gave a sigh, and set aside his now shining armor.
"Because I cut him down. I brought his blood drinking rampage to an end at Kithcor. Yet here he is. every time I think about it I feel like it tarnishes me in the eyes of the Mother of All."

Which meant a lot of noise from the front yard from the two, be it from knocking each other with makeshift material or from just falling off thier horses. Needless to say they were indeed going to be sore now weren't they?Which meant another good half hour of doing so before they were risking concussions. "You think real jousting will be harder than this? I can feel my bones rattling."
A look to the little elf. "Dhairiss, why don't you go find your parents hm?" Get him out of the room so as to alieviate some of the stree in it. He was good with his own kids, not so much others. And thus his attention turned to his own said children. A pat on the back to Kel as Faate explained things. "Now Faate, you know you can't send him out of games. He's only a baby and he wants to be involved too." Which then he turned his attention to Kelligrin once more. "Good boy for being sorry. And you can still play, do you want to pick a game?"
She rolled her eyes as well. "Now now, don't make such an enjoyable thing into a chore like it became last time...remember how that one panned out?" That had not been fun in the least...trying everyday just made it a chore and unenjoyable for the both of them, they knew that from that ten year period of trying for Dhairiss. But quite the bit of information to know that he was already thinking on the subject of their supposed third child that was at least a goal, despite how farfetched and impossible it seemed. Her body hadn't been happy with the last one she had had, took a good several months to recover that time. "You say you have more experience but I can also counter to call those antiqued ideals. And it's not my fault that your sword bites, it's yours. Though it was funny when I clocked you with your own boot. You didn't duck fast enough." Though she blinked and looked over before breaking out into a fit of giggles at the little elf who sulked into the room. "Did the girls get ahold of you agin sweetheart?"
Yup, he was sulking into the room, arms crossed and hair still tired up in various numerous ribboned ponty-tail-trees from being so initially short. A walk between his parents and another noise of pissiness. "Kelli knocked all down."

"I hear bells." He put his hand up to his head and shook it for a moment, trying to get the ringing in his ears to stop. It's like...half annoying but pretty at the same time. Kinda like when Lark was learning to play the harp." He threw an arm, though it was indeed sore, over his friends shoulder and nodded. "Probably. You're going to be facing elves who actually know what they're doing. Definitely going to need more practice. Can your dad joust?"
"Well, sometimes he's just too little to play with us. Not our fault. He doesn't even understand what we were playing." She was picking up the pieces to the game and throwing them in the box where they belonged before setting that on the shelf. "We tried to read to him earlier but he kept turning the pages before we were finished."
Lyssie nodded, "And he doesn't sit still like Dhairiss does. I dd his hair up all pretty, too. Kelli would have just cried." A roll of her eyes to that and then her eyes widened and she jumped up and moved behind her father. "Daddy! Something touched me! Faate glanced down and shrieked as well. "Kill it! It's gianormous!" Sure enough, crawling across the rug was a normal sized spider.
Shaking his head emphatically, he clung to his father. "No more play." Though his sister's shrieking distracted him and he twisted in his father's hold and watched the spider crawling, then gave a grin. "Mine!"

"But she can play very pretty now. I remember I used to love to sit around a listen to her. She should come for a visit sometime, don't you think?" Shaking his own head as if to clear it. Getting knocked around cetinally messed your senses up and what not. "I'm starting to think that I'm getting in over my head but I can't very well back down now..." Well damn. "Yeah he can joust, he was tournament champ years ago."
"You could try doing things he understands as well. Or just gently tell him that he has to wait, and say if he doesn't wait he'll ruin the surprise on the next page." Still patting at his son in coforting fashion. Managing various ages all at once had its trying moments. A frown of sorts, "It's not gianormous and that's not even a word. And no, not yours. We don't play with spiders, we kill them." Walking over and duly lowering a boot on the creature, ears picking up the sounds of spider death. "Better?" Wasn't it cute? He was playing hero.

"Your grandfather, too. He hasn't met the newest member of my family yet. He left shortly after your brother was born when Mom had just gotten pregnant." He was walking a little funny, mostly because every place on his body felt jarred and he knew he was bruised from head to toe. "You're going to be purple tomorrow." Giving a snicker to that because it was just a funny picture in his head. "I thought just in magic and swords. I didn't know you had to compete in all of it to be champ." His school taught nothing on tournaments since drow didn't believe in them. Award and merit was earned through serious action not play.
Lyssie made an upset noise. "I made it up so it is too! Faate's not allowed to use it though. Besides, my teacher said that if you have imagination you can make up anything you want to and if you work really really hard sometimes those things that you make can actually come true. Don't you believe that, Daddy?" Before seh nodded and then made a face. "Now you gotta get rid of the body. That's icky!"
Kel slapped his hands over his eyes at that sound and shook his head. "Uh-oh Kelli 'fraid...buggy dead?"

Malik gave a glance at his son, and that got one of those slightly annoyed looks. them blasted girls. his son was not a doll to be made up.
"Hey, your the one that wants the extra effort for a girl. and it's not my fault it bites. I didn't forge it. you can blame my father for that."
then at his son.
"Well Kelli is younger than you. he doesn't understand as well the things you do, so you have to give him some slack. and I'm sure he didn't mean to ruin the fun, he just wanted to play with you. your a big boy, he looks up to you and wants to be your friend."

You know, everytime granddad comes, there's always a new Inthara around. I think he's starting to expect one to pop up by the time he does come around." Rolling his shoulder back some, feeling the muscles protest against him and he gave a snort. Damn it, he was going to be purple indeed, wasn't he? "We can't all be lucky bastards who don't show anything. Besides, girls like that to an extent. If you have a plausible story to back it up." He did know at least one or two things about girls. "Yeah you pretty much have to do a few things to get top ranks and shot at champion. Call me over ambtious, but why not shoot for the top, right?"
"Well...it's not a scholarly word, let's leave it at that alright? And you don't own the word, anybody can use it. That's what happens when you don't keep secrets to yourself, they're free for everybody to use." Ah life lessons, wasn't it fun? But a nod to his daughter. "Your teacher's words do have some merit. I suppose I can believe that." Giving a smile somewhat at how the children were all disgusted by the dead spider...it was amusing and a good thing. Horrid spiders and what they meant. Another pat to his son. "Yes, bug dead." Pulling out a scrap of cloth from a belt pouch he wiped the bottom of his boot, and wiped the mess off the floor as well, resisting the urge to clean it further, and discarded the rag in a flare of runic energy. "There, are we all better now?"
Where Malik was annoyed, she was just pleasantly amused. Could be worse, his hair could be longer and he could be in ribboned pigtails. "Don't say it like I'm forcing you to do anything. You're the one who wants another one too, and preferablly a girl...and we both don't even know if that's possible." A slightly bitter tone to that statement, but she always had that when she spoke of her own biology in this sense. Hell, Zahara was having kids whenever she wanted, Piper had to practically kill a man for his soul to get a child. Scooting out her chair, she reached over and picked the boy up, plopping him on her lap and took to taking out the various little ribbons.
He squinted one eyes as his mother took to taking out his hair, some of the ribbons were tied in rather obscure and hard to get out fashion. But triple colored eyes watched his father as he was being explained things. "Kelli is friend. I gave him some to play with too." Batting for a moment at his mother's hands, which didn't do anything and he studied his fingertips a moment, always fascinated with those, before turning his attention up again. "I'm still little, Khai's big." He didn't quite get the concept really, Inthara's were like family so to him, he was still one of the youngest.

He chuckled, "Mom really likes kids? Or Dad can't keep his hands off of her...." But that was moving into an area that he didn't want to think about. "I bet Kaelin would nurse you back to health. Although she's not the greatest healer in the world. Last year she was supposed to cure a poison and she created a new one instead. Not on purpose...but it happened. The look on the Master's face was priceless." He carefully tugged his horse back to the stable and settled him in, then headed for the house, a nice long bath and some food. "Whatever you want to do, Khai. Just be careful."
The girls were much happier knowing that the spider was gone and never going to be bothering them again and Lyssie nodded. "I'm going to keep my other words a secret so she can't steal them." Giving a nod and then latching onto her father's tunic. "Daddy, are we going home?"
Thinking his father was going to put him down since he leaned down, he started to get upset and clung tightly to his tunic and braid. Though he was quickly distracted by the agreement. "Yay! Buggy dead." He dropped his hands from his face and glanced down, then kicked his feet at his sister's hands. "Mine."

"Fair enough, but you are bigger then kelli. adn don't you want to do things with Khai just because he can do big things? same rule applies. Kelli wants to do bigger things with you."
Malik gave a slight grin at his wife's attempts to untangle his hair. those girls and their braids.
"Why don't you ever listen. He's not participating, and if anything, that's his son that will be there! he's several centuries younger than you! where's that sense of compassion or mercy?"
Both the elves were staring each other down, the woman with her arms crossed, the male with his sword braced on bare shoulders.
"He chose to enter. It is not my choice wether or not I face him. Only the outcome if I do."
"You don't need accolades from these people. You could withdrawl."
"No. I entered, and I will compete. hope that he doesn't face me then. or that he is the one who will withdraw."
She glared at him, and stomped over, laying her hand on teh sword hilt and pushing the blade down to draw a bit of blood.
"You and I both know that he won't yield to you. He's young, with the strength of youth and the rashness that comes with it."
"then it will be a good lesson to learn for him that young, won't it."
"You are insufferable sometimes."
"I know."

"You're telling me to be careful? That's a riot." Both heading back inside adn getting cleaned up before it was down to the table for dinner, the smell of food ever drawing on teenagers, and yes...he was already starting to turn purple from bruising. "You know, it's great to have food on the table without having to make it yourself."
Piper had about half the ribbons out, not that Dhairiss cared if they were in or not. But her attention turned to their other son who dropped down in his seat and pulled a plate over to start loading it with food. "Well...you look like you got trampled."
He sighed in that way his mother would when she was upset but got hte point. "I get it." But his attention too turned to his brother, giving a squeak as his hair got pulled from it. But he duly giggled. "Khai's turnin' purple!"
His hand caught his son's feet. "Don't kick at her, I assure you there's enough of me to go around, not everything is yours." Waiting for the squirming to stop before patting at his daughter's head. "No dear, we're staying here for a while I have to do some work here that I can't leave for, and it's safer here right now. Okay?" Jerking his head at Faate. "Come on, let's get you kids fed..." And face Zahara at the dinner table no doubt.

"Yeah well, I often give advice I don't take instead and it isn't hypocritical either." He limped downstairs just as his mother was coming in and gave her a grin. "Hi Mom."
She shook her head and reached out touching his face then frowning at the hiss of air that emitted from between his clenched teeth. "Hurt yourself, did you? Looks like you got tossed on your butt more than once." A shake of her head. "I'll give you bruise ointment after dinner." Walking with him into the dining room and settling at the table.
"Nuh-uh. All mine." He gave a happy grin at the mention of food and twisted his fist into his father's tunic. "Eating 'sketti?"
She blinked large reddish violet eyes and thought that over for a moment then nodded. "Guess that means I'll get to play with Dhairiss more often. Okay." She skipped off to dinner, plopping down at the table and waiting for a plate to be brought to her. Things didn't work the same way in the D'vinn house. She didn't have to help with dinner and dishes. It was exciting.
Faate followed after her sister and father and brother and settled at the tale then frowned. "What did you do to yourself, Malikhai?" Why did boys purposely try to mangle themselves? It never made any sense to her. But then she shook her head as her brother popped up too and her mother had a bandaged hand. Everyone was getting hurt apparently. "You don't look good either. I guess you two were playing too rough?"
