Some of the people are a little crabby if your not in a triangle or if you talk, so I don't stay in one place to long. Maybe that's why I haven't seen more!

I don't think so. Of the two conversations I've been in, one had a triangle and the other didn't. But, that's not saying the triangle is a bad idea. It gets people to work together and makes things less chaotic, which creates less lag. I'd say, if you go somewhere where people are making a triangle, go ahead and get in it. I don't think the ufo's are attracted to the triangles (because I don't see how they could tell one was there before entering the area) but they do seem to prefer them for staying and chatting.
