"I'm sure you'll get your chance soon enough. Not too much of a thing that deserves a party or anything, I kinda wish I could just forget about it." Not pleasant really at all to think about at the present time. "Nah, I'm not looking to babysit, though I'm surprised you are. You usually get out of that kind of thing." Nodding to the air though, "Yup, I'm under guard. Dad's afraid that it's an inside thing, so he's not taking chances. And the whole horse thief thing is probably why your mom was thus so."
"Here's a nice thought for you to digest. Yesterday my son killed his first men, to protect your income. Don't try to tell me that such a thing is not less or more important to me." Yes she had gotten Malik to tell her the more detailed version of how he had convinced Malikhai into joining in on such a fray. Shaking her head lightly, tad bit too tired to continue this tiff they were having, and she had Dhairiss to hold onto as well. "I'll tell you next time." But here eyes went to Malik then...it was armor time again was it? "I'm tempted to say you should have my kids till this is over..."
"I'm right here, and you're not in your study where I assumed you'd be." Giving Malik a once over, hm battle mode. And then a look over Piper as well...who looked worse for wear, before he turned his attention to Malik once more. "Well, we've got quite the problem on our collective hands, don't we?"

"Problem enough. once this rat is found, then they will be dealt with. if it was the book keeper acting on his own..then I'll just up his sentence. Did you learn anything?"
motioning for Sevilin to join him in the lounge room, taking a seat and yes, guards took their places. Malik wasn't letting anyone out of his protection.
"the book keeper implied that one of my mages, probably an illusionist, used Broog to place the order. any truth to the statement?"

"Well, since I couldn't find you, yes I went investigating a little. No magic that is something you're used to in this house. I've already taken the liberty of signature tracing all those in your employ a long time ago, I'd know trails by them if they were left. And a human would be likely to try and turn your eyes to those of power in the house. After all, it's a good tactic; you place blame on those that are more powerful than you so that those that are more powerful then them will do away with them for you. One less power in the place to worry about." Shaking hsi head. "Something foreign that's been introduced...that's the problem here."

"Foreign? what do you mean foreign. I swear to Innoruuk if that wench from Andal is messing with my house I'll personally go there and burn hers down. and be more than willing to give the Brigade an earful about it while it burns."
Malik sat up a little straighter.
"But did Broog go the book keeper? is any part of his story credible?"

Personally, he'd pass. He didn't want to kill anybody anytime soon. "The curse of elves my friend. Maybe you won't reverie about it for a while though and it might just leave you in peace." Probably not but it couldn't hurt to be optimistic. "I didn't get much of a choice. Dad looked worried, Mom looked pissed and I wasn't messing with either of them. They more or less told me what I was doing and then popped out." Inside thing...? That wasn't good. "Just be careful. Last thing I need is you disappearing on me for some reason or another. Meanwhile, we both get to be bored. Life's so great sometimes." Oh, hear the sarcasm there.
Zahara glanced between Malik and Sevilin for a moment shaking her head. "He's nothing but a teenager. He shouldn't have been engaging in battles and he certainly shouldn't live with that so young." All about killings. Maybe Faate was right to question such things. A murderer in Vesendar...it might be time to check things out. "Well, I'll tell you what you are going to do. You are going to hand me Dhairiss and you are going to get some reverie." Thus taking Dhairiss from her much the way Piper had taken Kelligrin before. "He'll be just fine but you look awful. I'll get you up if anything happens but judging by my husband's look, nothing will. Something isn't right here though..."

"Eh maybe." Looking to Yinn who had rolled over on his back for a belly scratch, wings splayed all around him in rather cute fashion. Though he gave a snicker to his friend's sarcasm "Pretty hard to loose me in the underdark don't you think? You know, being blue and all?" Common joke for them both to alleviate a bit of the proverbial pain of being bored and not being sure about everything. "We'll figure something out."
"No, not Andalian. I would recognize Andalian without even having to look. This is something that I'm not familiar with. And I can't quite pinpoint it too much...I'd have to look into it a bit more." Being a mage had its perks after all. Crossing his arms he shifted his weight to one side. "Yes, that part is credible. Just have to find the timeframe to which that all occured...the trail that was left seems a bit faded."
Piper turned a look to her new best friend that was her guard, oh yeah that would be pleasant, but let her eyes slide back to Zahara. "You're telling me, but yes that's what happened. I'm waiting it out to see how he takes things, if anyone will know I will first." But a blink as her baby was plucked from her and she was more or less sent off to bed. Which wasn't such a bad deal really. "Fair enough...just don't make me worry about him. And I only need two hours then I'll be fine." Petting at Dhairiss' hair and looking to her new friend. "Come on you, I'm mean when I'm tired..." Thusly heading off back upstairs.

"True enough and don't worry, I'll take my own advice as well." He winced as a block smacked him in the head and shook his head. "Not the blocks, Kelligrin or I'm going to take those away. Soft toys only." Thus throwing Rawr who fell right into the child's lap and caused him to hug it rather cutely. "Yeah...how long do you think guard duty will last? You can't very well do anything with Kaelin with a breaker hanging over your shoulder."
"You'll just stay with me and we'll have ourselves a grand time. Of cousre if you stay in reverie, that would help me quite a bit." Nodding to Piper, she gently shifted the little elf patting at his back in soothing motions just in case his mother leaving affected him adversely. She'd wandered her own house with a baby on her shoulder far too many times to allow that to stop her from doing anything. She knew better than to find the men and try to help because they'd just turn protective on her, especially since she held a child. Something about those maternal instincts brought out the protector in the males. Chuckling softly to herself, she searched for the logs she and Piper had kept ever since starting the business.

"Throwing toys at you again?" Little brothers were difficult like that, they liked to throw things at you, particularly when you didn't want them to. He slapped his forehead at the sudden realization. "Kaelin! Oh man...well, there goes anything of any potential there. I don't think this guard thing is going to let up any time soon until dad is positive that nothing is going to harm us...which could take a while. I doubt she'd find fun in someone who was more or less being babysat. Man I don't understand how you do this whole girl thing..."

"Always." Rolling his eyes at that and then reaching in and scooping out the blocks which caused Kelligrin to start to wail. "You're not getting them back so you can just shut up." He flopped back on the couch and moved the linkstone so Malikhai wouldn't be assualted by a little elf's wails. "You forgot about her didn't you? Well, she didn't forget about you, I can tell you that." He was quiet a moment, holding back a chuckle to his friend's utter hopelessness regarding girls before a thought hit him, "You didn't stand her up for anyting did you? I don't think I can get you back with her if you did..."

He cringed at the sound of hte upset baby and the way his brother was handling it. How many times did he have to tell his friend that he should just be gentler with the little on and he may respond better. "Zykariel why don't you just sit on the floor and play blocks with him? He'll get his blocks and stop his wailing." Giving a sigh then, "No I didn't stand her up, but it's not like I'm going to get to see her like this...and she probably shouldn't be coming near here either. And I didn't forget about her, how do you know she hasn't forgotten about me?"

He made a sound of annoyance and knew if his mother was around he'd have been popped in the head with a spoon. "Oh, alright fine." Setting the rock on the floor, he reached in and lifted the baby out then began building with the blocks and lettinghis brother knock them down. "Those girls you don't know how I handle, Malikhai. They have a whole system for finding these things out. You caught Kaelin's eye, which isn't hard to do but to keep her interested is damn near impossible. She's one of those girls that knows exactly what she wants and isn't willing to let anyone else in until she finds it." He paused, "Does that scare you? It scared the s**t out of me when she told me that." And there would be another spoon pop.
He moved his hand so that it hit the block tower his brother was building and went tumbling down into his lap. "s**t!" Thus taking to putting the blocks down all over again. This game never got tiring for him.
Grasping the baby lightly by his chin and forcing his brother to look at him, he shook his head. "Don't say that. Mom will come after me if she knows I taught you that one. Bad word, Kelligrin. Bad word." and this is why he hated babysitting.

He made a face at that information. That wasn't good news at all...some women were like that. He had the belief that his mother was like that or else she probably wouldn't be with his father. Giving an exasperated sigh he raised a hand to scratch at his hair as he sat up on the bed. "Does that mean I should just cash in my chips with her and call it done and over with?" Malikhai didn't think he was that interesting, he had a reputation but most didn't know too much of him beyond that. "But yeah, it's scary to hear such things." Rolling his eyes as Kel took up the most worse parts of sentences.

Malik's attention to Sevilin was unwavering. his eyes might have been made of stone for all the movement to other objects.
"Do you want me to have my personal House styaff assembled? I can have all of them called to the carpet and you can personally inspect each one for this anomaly you found. Though if the Broog point is credible, than it would have to be one of the illusionists. and that narrows it to ten. and they'd almost certainly need to be Tier'dal, and that narrows it to four."
Unless it was something outside the House that had found a way to influence Broog while within it.

"I told you, it's nothing usual in your house. I'm more mage than anything and it was odd even to me." Shaking his head lightly...he hated being damn confused it just made his whole day worse than what it usually would be. "It's better if you don't tip them all off if you want me to investigate along that means. Such things are easy to mask and that would just make it ten times harder on us all. Have to appear ignorant in a sense. Or if you wish...you take a look at your own, and I'll just look behind the scenes to to speak. Not only is it foreign, but it's seems quite powerful too..."

"I'd usually say yes but in this case, I don't think so. She seems to really like you so whatever you are doing or did, it worked out pretty nicely. Word on the grapevine is she's coming to the tournament to see you in action. I think that will be the determiner, but don't let that worry you. Women like to see men be big and strong but some are complete jerks about it. She doesn't want a jerk and she doesnt' deserve to have one. She's a good girl, the kind you'd someday bring home to meet your parents but I hear tell she has her wild side when she chooses to unleash it. Kind of like you."
