She nodded, "That sounds good to me. Under one condition. You have to let me help." She hadn't been around when he was building this place initially but she'd seen him after adding a room or two when Faate was born and Lyssie came shortly after and she knew how much work that actually was. Handing Kelligrin over to Sevilin, she pulled in the playpen and then plopped the child into it. Tossing in some new toys to keep him occupied, she began to gather the toys together into piles. "Grab the crates from the basement and check on the others while you're at it. It's the scary quiet again."

He blinked at her, taking thier child as she went about grabbing the playpen before settng him in with toys and left Sevilin still blinking slightly. "Alright, I'll let you help." He would just keep an eye on her, after all she wasn't rune oriented, but she was capable. "Right, scary quiet." Duly heading downstairs to grab crates for her and bringing them back then backtracking to check on the children. Lyssie was still busy sulking and Faate seemed to be rather settled, reading one of her runing books and praciticing. She was given her warnings and then he moved on, looking in on Zykariel who was surprise surprise, going his studies. "Nice to see you indulging the paper. Don't do too much though, you'll keep yourself up and then you'll be late getting to your horse tomorrow." Thusly heading back to his wife once more and taking to packing up her piles. "They're all duly engaged in studies. Except Lyssie, she's still sulking."

Zykariel glanced up from his book and the parchment he was busy scribbling on and frowned. "Will do." That was odd...getting affirmation from his father over studying was nothing new but the rest of it. He was more or less giving permission to look after Destyny. Odd indeed. Shaking his head, he turned back to the wonders of mathematics. Parents were hard to figure out.

Zahara had three crates packed up by the time he got back and was amusing Kelligrin with her attempts to get the things on the very top shelf in the room. She was too short and there was nothing in the room she could use to boost her height without tumbling back on her a**. She had one foot inside a lower shelf and was pushing with the tips of her fingers to grab the books. Of course as usual gravity was not kind and before she could grab for them, a few of the books came tumbling down. Turning quickly, she covered the playpen so none of them hit her son and winced as a thick children's book hit her spine. "No surprise there. She was probably playing before she heard you coming. Silly girl."

Kelligrin just thought that was the funniest thing in the world and he exploded into giggles at seeing his mother stretched out over the top of his playpen. He reached up and tugged on the nightmare necklace that was swinging above him. "Mine."

That was a sight to come back to now wasn't it? Walking over he picked up one of the books that had hit her and set it aside on a lower shelf before reaching down to his son and distangling the child's fingers from the present he had given his wife a few years back. "No that's not yours. You think everything is yours." WRapping and arm around his wife's hips and pulling her up, his other hand moving to rub soothingly at her spine. "How many times do I have to tell you to let me handle the high things in the house?" Letting her go for a moment to pick up thier son, holding him between them. "She'll get over it, after all she has to learn."

"Probably sulk herself right into reverie," she agreed much happier to be standing up again. She arched her back lightly and then sighed as he rubbed at the spot that the book had hit. "I know. I just haven't learned my lesson yet. Every time I think it's going to be different and it never actually is." Smiling at the child who was now tugging on his father's hair. She pressed her lips to his cheek and made kissing noises then lightly fiddled with his hair. "Silly Kelli." Pausing a moment before her eyes caught his. "He'll be alright in here by himself, right?"

"Well, one day you'll get it and learn to keep a stool in the rooms that you need them or get me when you need to. Just give it another fifty years or so." Turning his eyes to his son who was tugging on his hair now, personally waiting for him to call out 'mine' as he usually did. It was a phase he was going through. But a chuckle as Zahara was trying to have second thoughts. "He'll be just fine. He'll have rawr and we can put Nym with him, and you'll be just fine too."

Still tugging on his father's hair, he glanced at his mother and grinned. "Rawr mine." Blinking for a moment before he opened his mouth and gave a wide yawn. Then another grin. "Nym mine." Reaching down since he was in his father's arms and patting the front of his tunic. Nym needed a hug.

She squinted at him and shook her head. "Is that how long it takes me to learn a lesson? I'm seriously behind the curve. No wonder my children get into so much trouble." Reaching down, she picked up the books and dropped them into the crate then nodded. "I think so too. He's ready and even though I'm not, I've got to be." Brushing her hands off on her skirt- it should be dusty on the top of teh shelf, but of course it wasn't- she stacked the crates and then glanced around the room. "Welcome to your new room, Kelligrin. We'll get the crib and changing table moved in here and leave the rest of the toys for him."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:46 pm

"Yes yes, Rawr is yours. But Nym is mine." Regardless, he reached down his tunic and pulled out a sleepy Nym by his scruff, the ferret blinking sleepily and yawning before he was handed to the child. He never worried about the babies dropping Nym, he was sturdy and reacted quite well to such thing. For the moment he held his son, watching Zahara go back and forth before he held out Kelligrin to her, waiting for her to take him. "Well then, I'll get to that right now." Thusly on to dismantaling things thing dragging them to a new room, and then putting them back together in the room and going about moving it all around to Zahara's liking.

Malik had Breakers scouring the house, and motioned his son over by him.

"We found a crate of these with your horse thieves. as well as tack and shoes for Nightmares. Someone sold these to them. they couldn't have stolen them in transport, the crate was too heavy for that, and my weapon sales are accompanied by Breakers. no way a group of humans could have faced four of them and managed to drag away a craft of calvary spears."

glancing around.

"Malikhai's train of though led to the idea that someone selling them weapons without our knowledge could mean someone meaning us harm may already be here. So I'm taking no chances."

the poor book keepers room had been destroyed nearly, and nothing out of the ordinary found, except a private record book that was brought to Malik, along with a rightfully terrified balding man with a breaker's hands resting on his shoulders.

She did what she did best: stood and directed. She had Sevilin move the crib a few times, trying to get it right in the place that tehy both could get to with as little trouble as possible and finally was pleased with the layout. It was lovely how patient he was with her, especially since she had things moved about three or four times.

Kelligrin was content to hold and hug Nym tightly, listening to the ferret chitter as he watched his father move things. "Daddy, over there. No there! No there!" Giggling and nuzzling the ferret before yawning again.

"And it's bath time for a certain little elf." Handing Kelligrin over to Sevilin who would scrub him down just right before she began rearranging the shelves so that no toys that could potentially be hazardous were within the child's reach. "I'll get the other kids settled as well."

Well...that was bad news and she tightened her grin on Dhairiss some even though he was the one oblivious to things going on right now and was more or less happily watching things, little blue tipped fingers of one hand threated into her collar. But she did raise and eyebrow at her son, which tranlated to a narrow of eyes at her husband. After all, her teenage son should not be splattered with blood. But for the present there were more important things at hand...like how humans never did anything alone and she had just reason to thus be worried. "For once I'm glad your'e not..." And she thought horse thieves were her problem.
He walked over with spear in hand as proof, setting its end on the floor so he could lean against it. In all acutality he was quite relieved that both his mother and brother were alright...even if he probably hadn't need to worry...and hopefully there wouldn't be need to. Dad was good at solving these things fast. "Just a thought...but it's worth looking in to."

Hey he liked doing this kinda thing, gave him more reason to clean and organize and thus control his world. Good thing indeed, but once she was satisfied her had the child again and it was time for the evening routine to set in. "Right, bath time for you buddy, and Nym can join you too." Thusly carting the boy off, spending a reasonable about of time scrubbing him down before getting him ready. After all, he was usually first to knock off in the evenings.

Malik fliped throught he book, and slid his finger down and found what he was looking for, holding the book to the book keepers face with eyes that could set fire to water.

"This sale right here. why was I not informed of it and why is it not in my personal records, but hidden in a private record of your own?"

The book keeper looked between piper, a bloody Malik, and a blood Malikhai. he visibly shivered and cringed.

"The order was taken and paid for by one of your staff, my Lord. they said it was for training and experimenting with the droag..."

"These are Calvary spears. the droag don't ride horses, and the don't use these spears. they have their own spears. and I know you know that. so that's one lie. care to try your luck again?"

The book keeper licked his lips lightly, and looked around himslef like a rat caught in a trap.

"I was given the order and told to keep it under wraps by a child of war. I was not told the details. he paid me extra to keep it under wraps so that you wouldn't know."

Malik took the book and handed it to his wife.

"So now you claim one of my breakers was paying for spears to be used by humans. now how plausible does that sound to you?"

"It's true. He said that you had gone soft, that you weren't worthy of lordship. and that he would take it from you."

"Who. I want to hear this one. what mighty breaker is thinking of turning on the hand that feeds him."

Giving a look to piper of 'this oughta be good'.

She spent some time with her oldest son, helping him on one of his potions problems and then checked in with the girls. Lyssie was still in a snit though some good natured teasing got her out of it rather fast. Zahara had already decided that it depended on the girl's behavior but she might be able to play with Laricalu at their house after her punishment was complete. Of course she wasn't telling the child that. Kissing Lyssie on the top of the head, she headed downstairs to find her eldest daughter. "Hey baby girl, what are you up to?"

She glanced up and gave her mother a halfhearted smile. "Just studying. Don't worry, Daddy already told me not to actually use any of my energy."

Zahara nodded and sat down across from her then calmly closed the child's book. "I think you've been at it long enough and I wanted to talk to you about something." Pausing a moment, she debated on how best to approach the subject. "Your father mentioned you talked to him earlier. Had some questions?"

She looked uneasy. "Mmhmm."

Noncommittal answers were never really good. "Did you get what you wanted?"

"That's kind of hard to say, Mama. I don't know what I was looking for. I just had a thought and was curious about it."

"Oh. Alright. Well, do you have anymore?"

Faate was quiet for a few moments and then she glanced up. "Have you ever killed anybody?"

And there it was. The question that Sevilin feared so much. "Yes, actually, I have." She'd see how the child reacted to that.

Faatallon just blinked and then nodded her head. "Okay. I think I'm going to go settle down in bed now. I'm kinda feeling reverie." She stood up and pressed a kiss to her mother's cheek then headed off upstairs.

Zahara sat there for a moment, digesting the conversation and then shook her head. Sevilin was right, they hadn't heard the last of this and it was bigger than her daughter was letting on. Her last response was a little telling as well. Perhaps it was time to sit Faate down and have a nice long conversation. She knew that the school briefly touched on Lloth when the studies of the elven gods was conducted but it was never anything truly personal. Sighing, she headed back upstairs, making the rounds of goodnights and then stopped in the brand new nursery, spending some extra time with Kelligrin. His curling toes sent him off to reverie in a matter of moments and she leaned on the railing of the crib nad sighed. "Why can't they all be as easy as you?"

Taking the book she looked over the page a moment before Dhairiss more or less took it from her and held it for his father, snapping it shut and tucking it under his arm but still holding onto it with both hands. The child knew it was one of those time that he keep quiet and had merely taken to resting his head on his mother's shoulder. Well...this was just great, if one was thinking things and getting ideas....they had bigger problem. The story hardly made sense...after all, why use humans? Even if Malik had 'gone soft' he could still slaughter a bunch of humans no problem. "Obvioulsy someone doesn't know that doubting an enemie's courage, doubles it. Especially when he has more to loose than just his own life in the process." Lies were easy to see, or at least half truths, though Malik seemed amused to a point at that look he was giving her." Besides...breakers simply weren't that smart.

He stood there obediantly, though by now what he had done earlier was sinking in again and he was only half listening to what was going on. It was the right thing to do then? Because this all seemed to be coming to fruition from his own thoughts. But even at his age, he knew that didn't sound right. Hm...wonder what Zykariel would think of such things...often he had been known to ask his older friend about such things, even if their age difference wasn't that great.

"I'm pretty sure he'll be a handful when the time comes as well." Walking into the room and looping an arm around her waist, pulling her away from the crib and starting her out of the room, having already made his good nights he had to make sure Zahara actually went through with her vacate the baby from the nursery plan, or else she'd stand there all night. "Come on now, loitering isn't going to do you any good."

Malik had an idea about it, if the book keeper wasn't lying. the men woudl be a distraction. a sacrifical lamb. but his eyes turned back on the one that he was addressing.

"Well?"

The little man cringed lightly at Malik's voice.

"the Jeweler one gave me the order. Broog."

Malik frowned a bit.

"that's quite the accusation. Broog you say. Now I don't think I need to tell you how bad that looks or sounds. Broog adores my wife and children. and I have been more a parent figure to him than his own."

"Broog gave me the commands. I was quite shocked...I never took him for that kind of talk. for the same reasons you pointed out. if I may make one more attempt to convince you...?"

Glancing at the breaker holding him, and then back at the book keeper.

"Last chance. you better say something that is meaningful, human."

Yes that was the 'your neck in under the axe' tone.

"Broog's eyes were..strange. clouded, misty. perhaps another person was working through the jeweler...?"

Treachery of drow. that's what the man was implying. not to mention it made more sense that way as well for a sale point of view. after all the Breakers didn't care about types. they only saw a spear, not one for calvary.

"In light of this, I want the names of everyone that has had any unusual activities in the past month. Have someone ask Sevilin to come and check his runes to verify that Broog at any time came to this human, and if anyone else came to see broog outside his normal contacts. I don't care if a rat saw him, I want to know about it."

Then turning his attention back to the human.

"And you. the second the phrase had come from broog's mouth, if it was broog, about me being replaced...you should have come to me. but you wanted your coin and valued it above your loyalty to the House."

glancing at the breaker.

"have one of the clerics go to a breaker station. she can verify the money paid to him for his silence. one day in the breaker room for each coin that passed into his hand."

the poor human blanched and shook like a leaf on the wind, looking to piper, malikhai, anyone around with begging eyes for someone to help him, someone to rescue him.

Malik looked at the human.

"The safety of the house comes above all things. and you nearly could have sold it away for a handful of coin. maybe after this experience, you won't be so eager to line your own pockets at the house's potential expense in blood."

the Breaker dragged him away, already sobbing and squirming in fear. before he took the book from piper and handed it off to get where it needed to go. then glanced at himself and Malikhai.

"Well...I suppose you'll want an explanation..."
