It was hard to keep up with his father when he was in this defensive mood. But he merely kept pace best he could, dismounting and following his father inside, listening to how things were going down now. Was it that possible that there could be someone in the house that was a danger? Well...there were quite the number of serfs that went through thier house daily...could be anyone. "Do you really think that's possible?" Giving a concerened look to his father before looking to the spear that he still had hold of. Could danger really be right inside the halls of your own home?

Well it something wasn't wrong before, she knew it was wrong when she was brought her weapons without first requesting them. Slinging bow and quiver across her back and buckling her sword at her hip, she picked Dhairiss up and settled him on the hip opposite her sword before going to investigate just what the heck was going on. Wasn't hard to find Malik and Malikhai...though an instant frown when she walked up to them at blood was quite evident on thier persons. "A'mael...care to tell me what's going on?" Asjusting her hold on her youngest slightly...she hadn't seen Malik this worked up looking in a while.

He elected not to comment on the cooking, merley shrugging lightly to her about it. After all, it was a wonderful meal and good as any she had ever made. Just an awkward night in the house. But a nod to thier youngest son. "It's good for you both I think, and especially if you're going to take that job." Though he did chuckle at her, leaning over and pressing a kiss to her temple lightly, "Being blunt again I see. Though admittedly, it is a missed thing." Putting away dishes...and then it happened, his mouth got ahead of him and his head didn't filter the words first, "Strange like when your sister is having sex in the bed you're sleeping in too?" Cringing immediately when the sentence was out...well, he'd just given away what sort of time period was on his mind. When he joked with her, it usually wasn't like that. A look to her, weary in nature. "And that's not what I meant to say..."

She glanced over to make sure Kelligrin hadn't gotten it into his head to scamper off in another direction. She was quite pleased he agreed with her on the crib issue, though she'd miss being able to walk three feet to feed him at night. She enjoyed the random bouts of affection he'd learned to give since they'd gotten together. His question caused her to blink for a moment. 'Well...no." That wasn't good at all. One eyebrow lifted and she knew the moment he tapped into what he said and what her likely reaction was going to be. Trying to keep it casual, she cleared her throat. "No, but you did anyway. What's got your mind on that?"

Oh great, now he was locked into a conversation that was probably better to be left unhad. Maybe he could still get out of it. Idly wiping down counters out of sheer compulsion since there wasn't even any water to sop up on them, Sevilin kind of gave a casual shrug, keeping his eyes locked on the rag and what he it was doing. "I was talking to Faatallon about some things and I guess she just reminded me of things." Pausing a moment with an exasperated sigh and letting his other hand pinch the bridge of his nose as that didn't mean the way it seemed to come out. Almost like he was accussing his daughter of being like his sisters. "No, I didn't mean that she..." Merely shaking his head in frustration before deciding to go another route and back to wiping at counters. "You know I just think about it all sometimes. It happens, mind is scattered and all."

Studying her husband in silence for a long time, she casually leaned against the counter, patiently waiting for him to articulate his thoughts. She knew better than to try to stop him from cleaning since that was his release. Whenever he was frustrated or feeling out of control he cleaned. It restored order and a sense of control to him and she could hardly begrudge him that. "I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes Zykariel reminds me of things of that life. It doesn't mean that I think he's turning into one of them." Bending down she pulled open a cabinet and scooped the pile of napkin rings into a basket she'd pulled out. "What did you talk about with Faatallon?" Let's start there.

Despite how quiet he could be on a subject, she could pin him on what he was really thinking and there was no arguing about it at all. Simple as that, she was right to his thoughts. He paused for a moment as if trying to sift through what was going on his head as she decided this was a thing that they weren't going to leave alone and had to talk about. Oh boy..."Well...we were talking about murderers...or rather the state of thier existance and how they could be with those around them with little more than a thought." Shrugging lightly, trying to appear like he didn't care about it...though he never would of said anything if he hadn't of cared about it. "She's just being curious is all."

Murderers? It was slightly frightening that her oldest daughter was thinking enough about them to become curious. She'd always feared that a part of the evilness that was in all the other drow was inherent and one couldn't in fact escape from it. Her worst nightmare was that her children would grow up and become just like her sisters or Sevilin's or even his brothers. And then it hit her. "You remembered your brother." Stopping for a moment, she dropped the tablecloth she'd snapped open to lay over the table and moved over to him "Raven, you are not a murderer. The situation called for something to be done and you did it and saved him more pain in the end. You tell yourself it was for the best but you've never really believed it and this is still haunting you after all these years." A shake of her head and she lightly rested her hand on his cheek. "How long are you going to punish yourself for something that really was for the best?"

Always to the root of a problem this woman. She could pick out facts like Nym could pick out the best round and shiny things from a pile of similar objects. Thusly a break in cleaning motions, letting the rag rest on the counter as he rubbed at the back of his neck in that motion he often did when such things arose. And Zahara wasted no time in trying to comfort him on it. No he never believed what he told himself when it happened...you didn't hold someone down and strangle the life out of them with such a casual thing. No, he had said it to make his brother feel better, not himself. "I'll never know if it was for the best. I got out, maybe he could of too." Shaking his head lightly. "Zahara, that's only one in how many people? Granted the worst, but not the only one to make it so I gained the label. I doubt she'd react well to any of that at all."

She listened for a moment and tapped into exactly what his fear was. He was afraid his daughter was either going to hate him or fear him because of what he'd done in the past. With that being said...she was facing the same thing. She'd wanted to kill more than once, had even planned it out and would have followed through if her prey hadn't been stolen from her and killed before she could. "And if he had lived, they would have started to do the same things to him that they'd done to you. He had your genes Sevilin but it would have become a competition and they would have reveled in it. They would have raped him, beaten him, locked him away and passed him around. You've told me many times how gentle he was. He wouldn't have survived it. You protected them the best you could. You did what had to be done and you paid for it." She took his hands and squeezed them lightly. "If she understands the situation behind it, she can hardly hold it against you. You killed because you were forced to and because you wanted to help. I would have reveled in it if I had only been give the chance. Think how she'd react to that...or any of them for that matter."

This wasn't about him....not it wasn't suppsoed to be about him but in part it was and it was one of those things that really really couldn't be avoided. But he shook his head as she tried to make things better and tell him it would of just been horrid if he hadn't done what he had done. Partly he had done it because it was indeed competition and it all just never sat well with him. ANother shake of his head. "The point is I'll just never know, and I can't help but think about it." He didn't like this subject and it was rather clear that he was trying to disconnet from it slightly so he could indeed keep talking about it. "And yet...if I wanted out so badly, why didn't I just not do what I was told and let them kill me?" Pulling a hand from hers and dismissively waving, trying to change the subject slightly. "You're no different in the respect, you wanted to do it because he did something hurtful and foul to you for years. It's self defense. But personal offenses aside...you didn't see how she looked when she was talking about it."

"No. Just like I'll never know if I would have stopped at killing him alone. I may have gone on a killing spree once I had his blood on my hands. I felt vindicated and that's quite dangerous when it comes to revenge and crimes of passion as the humans call them." Obviously this was a difficult subject for both of them. She wasn't anymore proud of her past than he was though all of it had finally come out between them. "You knew they wouldn't. You were far too valuable to them, Sevilin. You provided them with everything they needed and made their lives comfortable. They never would have killed you, especially since your mentor was so close to the Queen." She knew it, had told him that for years though she'd never revealed to him that his father was the one he hated more than his sisters, if such a thing was even possible. Moving behind him, she gently took to rubbing at his shoulders. "She's scared. Remember how the boys reacted when Malik decided to tell them about Lloth? They were terrified because it was something scary that could disrupt their nice, safe world. We always promised ourselves we wouldn't hide things from the children that could potentially hurt or get them killed. She's old enough to understand and I think the time has come."

He merely sighed and let her take about comforting them both. He felt better when she did such things and she felt better taking care of others, it was just the way that Zahara was and it was much appreciated really. He always tensed up, she always needed something to do with her hands. "Why do they have to get older? All the really hard questions come then. Should just make a list of answers now so we'll know what to reference later. Still have two more at the moment to go through with it and well, who knows if we're going to have more." Shaking his head lightly before turning and pulling her too him, arms laced around her waist. "She seemed statisfied for what I did give her, but I don't know for sure. Told her that murderers were defined by how they killed more than why."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2007 1:31 pm

She chuckled, "One of the joys of parenthood that no one told us about before we started having babies." It was hard to run into these things and not know how to handle them. THey'd made that promise after Zykariel had begun learning things from Malik regarding Lloth and the way women used to treat men. Her son had been wary of her for about a week before she finally had decided it was time to explain some things to him. None of her other children were away of their old lives and the subject had never come up again with her oldest. "That's a good start but I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of this. She was far too quiet at dinner." Resting her head on his chest for a moment before she pulled back and dropped a quick kiss to his lips. "Just remember that no matter what you are still her father and she loves you. Admitting to past deeds isn't going to change that."

He gave her a smile and a nuzzle. "I suppose so, I just don't handle that particular subject well." With his luck it was going to be on his mind all night long and he was probably going to have a reverie that was worse than usual. But he gave her a squeeze before letting go of her with one arm and bringing the remaining one to her shoulders. "Come on, grab Kel and we'll go move that crib, figure where to put it exactly." They didn't have a nursery really, more of a small playroom to keep all the baby toys and such. Zykariel had his own room, and the girls shared one. "I'm going to have to build onto this place soon enough..."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2007 3:40 pm

"I know, but everything will work out, Raven. You'll see." She gave him a kiss for his nuzzle and then turned toward their son. "Perfect timing." She watched his red eyes wandering and caught him just as he was getting ready to crawl off the blanket. His own toys only amused him for so long. Bouncing him lightly to keep him from crying, she gave a nod to Sevilin. "Especially once Kelli grows up a little more. He can't share with Zykariel and soon Faatallon is going to be old to share with Lyssie." She had learned the differences between children and teenagers quickly enough. They changed from her sweet, loving babies to hell raisers bent on figuring out the world no matter what the cost. She'd rather have them Kelli's age...but potty trained. Wrinkling her nose, she shifted the child and headed upstairs. It took just a moment to change him and then she plopped him on her hip as she scrutinized the room. "If worse comes to worse, he could go in with Zykariel. Though Kariel himself would have a fit." She studied the room packed full of toys that all of her children had played with and then sighed. "We need a nursery again. All of this is going to have to be moved into another room and this will be Kelligrin's. He's almost out of his crib and then he needs a toddler bed and different toys. I'd hate to get rid of all of this since we'll likely be having more..." Thinking it over for a moment.

"We got used to using Malik and Piper's nursery." Crossing his arms and srutinizing the room before them, thinking things out in his head and how best to make things work. He was going to have to expand his place that was for sure, it wasn't going to work trying to pair kids together, they were too grown at some point. Hell he remembered hating sharing a room...of course that went with other things but that was beside the point. "We'll just crate this all up and put it down in the basement under the kitchen, and then we'll make this into his room. I should have some more free time from my tasks for Malik shortly if nothing goes wrong and I'll spend the evenings expanding this place, make a room for Lyssie and then maybe two or three more for just in case. How's that sound?" He'd be miserable for a few weeks what with the almost constant energy drain, but what was he gonna do?
