*Bard gets Maggie a glass of ice water* Here you go.
*he turns to Luke* Lacrosse eh? Pretty tough sport. I played soccer in high school, but I lost interest when I got to college. Just too much to do.
*he sips his drink*
Looking back, I sort of miss it.

*focuses on Maggie, determined to get his point at least halfway across*
Okay. Well. Bigger kids... *points to himself* Yours truly. Throw that same ball around. Except, they use a great big stick with a net attached to catch it.
*simplifies* And they try to beat the crap out of each other to see who can get it in their net first.

*takes the water and sips it thoughtfully, listening to the two of them*
College . . . 'tis a special sort of schooling, is it not?

*raises eyebrows double time to Bard* It's a skill-based sport that requires muscular strength, speed, and dexterity. *kicks back a glass of water, pours himself another* Plus it let's me play in the dirt.

*nods to Maggie*
It's a school for advanced studies in a specialized field. In my time, it's almost essential to go to college.
Which reminds me. I'd like to begin your reading lessons... that is, if you'd still like to learn of course....

*coughs a little on the cold water* *sniffs back* Leaves a guy feeling a little dehydrated though.

We can start whenever you want. Except that we'll need something to get started on.
*he chews his lip thoughtfully*
Didn't you tell me that the Brink had a library?

*nods, a little impressed at both Bard's interest in teaching Maggie to read and Maggie's enthusiasm*
*Her time period wouldn't allow for her to be educated. Hell, she deserved it.*
*says softly, more to himself* Way to be, Maggie.

*Luke's yet to visit the library.....He figures he'll check it out...*
If you want any help, I'm your man.
I do a beautiful rendition of the alphabet song.

Now why didn't I think of that? *he chuckles*
Shall we go have a look-see?

*her smiles widens and she nods, eager to get started*

*shrugs to Maggie and Bard*
No sweat. Let's check it out. *Lacrosse gear of elbow pads, knee pads, shoulder pads, and helmet attached to his side clank like plastic armor and his sneakers squeak against the floor as his curiosity leads him to the library...*
