Malik did as he was instructed, and got his youngest son out of the bathtub and dryed off and cleaned up, and hair brushed nice and neat and then handed him over to his wife for dressing...then a kiss for her.

"alright, time to educate the elder son on the D'vinn male secrets."

A slight grin and mussing his son's hair a bit before heading downstairs to where his son was practicing his illusions. he wouldn't interrupt him doing that just yet, at least let him finish the lesson.

Taking both children and giving a giggle as he gave her a kiss and proclaimed the passing of secrets must be conducted with his eldest son. "Right right. One more thing for me to worry about...I better not start finding girls in his bed Malik. Really." Shaking her head and making her way to the nursery with both boys to get them settled. Ah teenagers.

Didn't take much before he was proclaimed finished by his teacher with some words of praise that just made his little ego fluff right up. But his attention shifted over to his father, whom apparently had come down at some point to either watch or nitpick. Nitpicking was never fun, especially when dad was doing it." Strolling over he shoved his hands in his pockets and gave his dad a searching look a moment. "I'm getting better. Mostly."

A slight grin.

"I imagine so. getting a compliment out of that woman is like trying to warm winter. Illusion is not my field of expertise. But you and I are going to have a small talk about two subjects. women, and the upcoming Tournament."

gesturing to a seat.

"So. first, we need to establish a basis. what did you do with that young lady last night?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2007 8:23 pm

And there we were, the topics of the day. Women and tournament...two subjects to which he wasn't entirely wholly excited about and also slightly frightened about. They were both intimidating in thier own right. Taking a breath he held it a moment and rocked childishly on his heels before he let it out and sat down next to his father. "Her name is Kaelin...and we just talked. She asked slightly probing questions and I think I'm on my way to questioning my own existance on a few levels. Do you know how strange I sound when you say it all out loud." That teenage 'it's weird' look. "But yeah, just talked randomly."

"You do need a few tips. Probing questions are a sign of more than just a passing interest. You're a D'vinn, and a Tier'dal. Women are naturally attracted to us for a few reasons. first reason being that we are unique. particularly here. Our good looks, combined with blue skin make us as attractive to women as a blue diamond in a pile of rubies."

A slight smile.

"Second is that we are always powerful in our own rights. My empire is expanding, and I have proven my power both on and off the battlefield in many places. You're heir to this empire, and your skill with illusion and sword are impressive in their own rights. You carry on a proud name, with a great reputation and past...though not all deeds and exploits are considered even remotely good."

"Third...like all Tier'dal, you possess a natural aura that women sense. an aura of promise and mystery. you naturl makes you unusual and mysterious to those that don't know you. when they talk to you and see all the things you can do and may do, you come off as grandly impressive. from an outsider's point of view, someone your age that already manages a well known and skilled horse jockey, is an accomplished swordsman and illusionist, and still has centuries of life left to refine, hone, and continue to learn...it is impressive."

leaning forward.

"You should talk to this girl again. ask some probing questions of your own, and pay attention to her answers. you have to do that if your interested in her. you have to know them and be able to see when they need things that they won't express in words. pay attention to her body, but not just the form. like your illusion practice, pay attention to details. how she holds herself, how she looks at you."

"And hold yourself in good standing. you're a D'vinn...hold your head high, be proud of who you are and not nervous or worried about showing it around women. Confidence is a catcher...but don't get cocky or egotistical. you don't want to come off in a manner that makes you look like you think you're some Divine Gift to Women....but you do want to give a hint that you know your worth the time of a woman that takes an interest."

A slight grin.

"and once you build a good relationship, friendly and enjoyable...invite her to dinner here. We'll make her feel welcome in our home and with your family, and that'll help her open up to you if things have progressed well by then."

then a moment's thought.

"but that last thing is only for the right girl. all the rest can get a woman to share a bed with you....but save that last one for a girl that you are really interested in."

Before leaning back some.

"got all that?"

Time to be an absoring sponge, even if much like his mother he liked to nitpick about some details. Well...he was mostly pure tier'dal than surface elf, seeing as even his surface elf quarters were just that, quarters. But that was looking at things too hard and now wasn't a time to be looking at things too hard. Now was the time to absorb the more or less pep talk his father was giving him about women. The ever elusive creature. But back to absorbing. Malik was indeed right on a lot of point, unique was a good word and he reacalled more than once where his own mother had been one to give scathing looks and actions to a woman or two who actually tried at his father. It was kinda funny. And Kaelin herself had mentioned how the D'vinn reputation was less than spot free...though it seemed she had piled that on Malik, and not Malikhai...which he could guess was something or other. But all in all, it seemed that nature was working in his favor on a few levels as well as the little name he had worked to carve out for himself.

Ask her probing question...what the hell did you ask a girl without them taking it wrong or jumping on you. It was like a game to them to either appear angry with you, fluster you or just embarass you. Keely had done it more than a few times to him. As far as being cocky...well he had his moments but it wasn't a constant state of his, probably the humbling nature of his mother in himself that showed through from time to time. Though however a raise of an eyebrow as dad then went into what happens when he really found a girl he liked...and what he did with all the others that he was just supposed to have fun with. Not that he had really planned on sleeping around...sure sex was on his mind, but he was a teenage boy - why wouldn't it be? As far as going beyond thinking about it...well let's just say he hadn't even had a real kiss yet. Not that anyone else of any male species had to know that.

"Dad...have you been around teenage girls lately? They travel in vicious maurauding packs of at least five and they're always keeping boys away from each other....like dragon's hoarding treasure. And they aren't afraid to give you the claws at all. It's like they just wait to leap on you. And if you try to get one away from the rest, you might as well kiss your butt goodbye because they're going to have at you." Telling it like it was a horror story because of course it was to him. Vicious teenage girls.

"And provided I got her away from said vicious pack of teenage girls, I don't know what to say to her and it's almost like she's watchign what she's saying because she already knows who I am. Heck I rarely have to introduce myself to someone." Shrugging lightly. "She didn't say much about herself either. Just know that she lives with her mom and shares a class with Zykariel really...that and she really doesn't like the party scene too much." Leaning back as well with a sigh and crossing his arms over his chest, rollings around in his head some as a silence settled for a moment. Why did girls have to be a difficult thing? Or at least for him that's how it was. "But yeah, I got it." Damn girl thigns.

"Women are easy to pry from the pack. you have to make yourself bait. give her the looks...those once every little bit eyes or glancing that seem to move away just when she wants eye contact...though do catch adn hold her gaze after a few times for a couple seconds. she'll come to you."

A chuckle.

"Probing questions for women are simple. what do they like to do. favorite colors, objects. flowers. get her to open up about her hopes and dreams. drop a hint that you might be looking for someone."

A small grin.

"you were at a party, and she agreed to leave said party, and the company of all her friends, to spend time alone with you even for the point of conversation. now take a moment to think on that. what does it say to you that rather than leave or ask her friends to go someplace less 'party scene' like, she opted to go solo with you."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 1:46 pm

"It says that she didn't want to be out in the streets, in the underdark, all alone, and I convenitently had a sword and also wasn't feeling too much like party land too?" Raising an eyebrow with the statement/question. Seemed plausible now didn't it. Keeping his attention focused on his father for the moment as he ran things through his head some more. "There's a catch...it's never that simple." Shaking his head at that, there was just not way that it was that simple."Somehow I don't think this is how you got mom."

"Well, provided that I see her again, I'll give it a shot. And hopefully not end up looking goofy...or mauled by the vicious pack of teenage girls. I did kinda invite her to the tournament." Sure had hand't been told he could compete, though he told her that, he still planned on going just to watch if anything. He assumed a no based answer would be the fact of his age, so then...if he couldn't compete he could watch until he was old enough to do so...know the yearly enemies and by the time he could have at them himself, he would know how to take them down.

"Or it could say that she wanted some time alone with you all to herself without having to worry about anyone evesdropping or teasing her or another woman catching your eye or flirting with you."

glancing at his son.

"Ah yes. the Tournament. That was the other subject. I discussed it with your mother..and we came to the agreement that if you want to compete, you will be allowed to. So now she doesn't only get to come with you, but cheer you on."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 3:00 pm

"Yeah but you see, that's one of those woman 'could be' things. She could be saying one thing, and she could be saying something esle. Point is I'm not going to ever know unless she tells me and even if she tells me, it could be a lie. That's what I hate about girls...you just never know when it comes to them what's what." Wrinkling his nose in distaste. Though he offered his attention again when talk of the tournament came up. One of those subjects he knew to ask once and only once on and then not mention it again or try to push an answer in his own favor.

One of those preparing for a no looks...he knew mom wouldn't like it at all and that dad would tell her. Could hope dad could get her to at least consider. Needless to say he blinked stupidly for a moment as he obviously recieved an answer he obviously hadn't been prepared for. "Wait...you just said I could compete right?" Still a look of disbelief and a laugh to follow as well. He was joking right? "Okay dad, don't jerk my chain. What's the catch? Can only compete in the 'baby competitions'? Can only do a certain amount? Certain type? What's the catch? There has to be one, mother wouldn't just say yes." Trying not to get an annoyed look at that, even though it was obvious by the term is used for the woman who gave life to him.

"there is no catch. I discussed it with her, and she agreed to let you compete. whatever you choose to place yourself into. no limits, no baby competitions. you can stand toe to toe with the best and worst men, women, demi-humans and elves Deepwater hosts in this tournament. Your choice on that."

Raising a finger though.

"I have one condition though. You bring this girl, and when we get there and this gets underway, you will tell her one thing that I will tell you. no ifs and or buts, no miscues, no paraphrasing. one thing I will tell you to relay to her you will say without question. agreed?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 4:20 pm

Needless to say, he was honestly surprised that there was no mom catch. No one telling him that he was just going to get hurt and that it was better if he watched. Nope, they were actually letting him jump into the middle of it all. Which of course made him smile in that goody three year old just got a cookie fresh out of the oven way. And he was about to give his thanks on such a thing when that fingers raised.

"You do know that a condition is a catch, right?" Listening though...it involved Kaelin as well as something being told to her. Well then...that was an interesting thing now wasn't it? He went over in his head all that it could be and he wasn't coming up with too much. A weary look that he had learned from his father. "What do I have to say to her?"

A chuckle.

"That's for me to know. After all, I don't want you thinking to back out or try to avoid me so you don't have to. You'll find out when you get told. Shouldn't be too embarassing. and it's not a catch. I wouldn't stop you from competeing if you chose not to. but I do consider it a catch of you bringing a date to this event. and I know you'd hate to break a promise because you're worried about what your father might do."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 4:36 pm

Oh great, the ultimate parent tactic...throw the bone but then snatch it back. "Oh come on, not even a little hint? That's cruel." Putting on the pity me face that he had gotten good at in his younger years. After all, the way he put it it sounded like it was going to be something he may regret saying because there was a girl involved and somehow he could just see this all coming to bite him in the a**. "I didn't say I was bringing her as a date either. I just mentioned that she should come. Okay, and yes see me, but I didn't make a date of it." Getting a smirk because yes his father was right though...he couldn't break a promise to the man he had emulated for years on end. "If she even comes."

Zykariel had long ago finished with magic and was now battling with the physical in the arena. The teachers were putting him through his paces but it was no more than his own parents forced him to do. He'd beaten mom once before though it was a short-lived victory and had yet to beat his father even once. It was his personal mission in life to knock his father on his a** just once.

He lifted his scythe and slapped it against the polearm the other elf was using, then pushed back with all his strength until they were locked together. His boots slipped back on the sand and he instantly realized his mistake. He wasn't strong enough to win this with brute strength. Allowing the other to push him back a little more, he abruptly took three steps back, then moved into a somersault and hooked the pole of the scythe around the elf's legs. There was no way he was going to be able to keep his balance and he did indeed go down. Dropping his weapon leisurely to his side, he leaned down and offered a hand with a few words as well.

She actually let him clean another fifteen minutes later. It just wasn't in them to laze about idly, especially since normally they'd have a houseful of noisy kids and various pets as well. Helping him, the house was cleaned in a matter of hours, to his standards as well though she'd used a toothbrush in more places than she cared to count. Then it had been a shower that had easily turned into other things from which she was drying off from. Dressing and pulling on her boots, she poked her head into the closet, where he was dressing. "Shall we go collect our children or spend some more time alone?" Sure, time was nice but she was beginning to miss the constant chaos. The house felt...quiet and clean. It was almost unnatural.
