Practically every martial art has been adapted into a competition form, so now they're all martial sports? I mean, Bruce Irvin from Tekken 5 wears the traditional Muay Thai competition gear.
Steve Fox puts on the gloves and shorts.
The game has rounds, rules, guidelines, and each character follows a style. Like, if I go to a gym, learn boxing, am I not gonna be able to dodge a punch on the street? The minute some Japanese karateka who's never been on K-1 shows up I'm gonna be helpless?
WHY DO YOU HATE BOXING AS A MARTIAL ART MOOO? WHAT THE HELL?

Boxing as a sport presupposes that your opponent will also use boxing as well to fight you, just as a kendoka freaks out and doesn't expect getting smacked in the legs with a shinai. What do trainers call boxing? "The Fight Game." "The Sweet Science." Boxing is a sport. I agree that it has its merits as a martial art, but its modern development has purely been in its furthering as a sport.
If anything, the average boxer IS more conditioned than the average martial arts practitioner, which is another thing that sets them apart, as boxers are athletes who must maintain themselves within set guidelines and limits.
Tekken is a fighting game because it's a flight of fancy that requires you to beat the s**t out of a virtual "somebody else," NOT box them, or make them submit, or force them out of a circle. Even Steve Fox kicks in Tekken. xd

WHY DO YOU HATE BOXING AS A MARTIAL ART MOOO? WHAT THE HELL? Whats a boxer going to do if someone ducks below the regulatory height for a "down" and tries to sweep him? What part of his training can he fall back on that takes into account that type of situation? Sure his experience fighting and physical fitness can assist him in that situation but the same can be said of any sort of experience or training, formal or informal.
Boxing presupposes that your opponent will also be boxing. xd They have no attacks meant to strike someone who is prone. It has no attacks based from kneeling, sitting, or prone positions. Hell it doesn't even have any attacks for opponents that are behind you since rabbit punching is prohibited.
Sure knowing boxing will certainly increase your chances of winning a fight but I really wouldn't hold it up in the same manner as you're doing.HAY GUYS WHAT'S GOING ON IN THIS THREAD?
