"Try what racing? I don't know, I'd feel like I was stabbing Zykariel in the back. The track is his thing. Though you know, my father said I was old enough to enter the anual tournament that started up again. So I think I'm going to compete this year. I'd be happy to carve me little moment of fame out as one of the tournament top three. What do you think about that?" After all, girls like it when you asked thier opinion on things and hell, he may get to see her again. She wasn't that bad, even with his clumsy girl skills. Not that mother knew he had asked yet about the tournament.

Piper had gotten the other children fed and settled and now she walked over to join her husband as he ushered the child off to go get her own dinner. "I'll put her to bed when she's done." Coming up to stand in front of him with an amused look her eyes before she gave a soft laugh and laced her arms around his neck, pressing a lingering kiss to his lips. "I do have to say that I'm impressed with your patience."

She was nicknaming in the purposefully annoying way again. Though for right now he ignored it. But he thought it over a moment at her speaking of no catch and he wasn't sure how much he believed her, but at the same time he knew that if there was a catch it would be quickly through with or just plain forgotten. A slight battle to keep his smart as she played with his ears then. "Well then, I think we should get started before too much of the night slips away, hm?"

He gave his wife a kiss back, holding her for a moment before giving a slight smirk.

"Patience is a virtue. It's one of my redeeming qualities I like to think. though I could use something to eat as well. I think even my brain hurts when trying to follow that kind of story...but you know me..big on details and such."

Though a small chuckle.

"though...how do you think our oldest boy is faring on his first night out with a girl?"

Giving a chuckle, she took hold of his arm, leading him off to the kitchen so he could get himself something to eat as well. "One of your redeeming qualities, well yes I suppose that's one...when you have it. It tends to slip through your fingers from time to time." Giving another soft laugh though. "Here's a little secret about little girls...they want to be the one's doing the saving and the adventuring, not the one's being saved or riding second in line. Remember that and your little story sessions could be easier. But yes, those tales of hers do get hard to follow, even if you can follow it somewhat." Before shying and shaking her head at the mention of Malikhai. "Maybe about as well as you would fare, cutting out that charm and deception you developed. He's still a lot like you, dedicated to training and the like, and tends to forget some other skills that he may have use for...like how to deal with women. Teenage girls can be merciless you know."

"Hey, he's a D'vinn. we have natural charm. can't help it."

getting himself somethign to eat, and then putting on a slightly serious look.

"Malikhai has talked with me about entering the tournament this year. I haven't given him an okay on it, before you start getting upset with me. he mentioned wanting to sign up for it. As much as I might want to see my son show again how much better an elvish hand is than a human one...I was sent a letter dictating that I was allowed automatic entry for being the previous champion. I still haven't decided if I should or not. especially if Malikhai wanted to enter."

A shrug.

"I thought I'd be good this time as pass it by you."

She very much look amused. "D'vinn charm eh? I don't recall you to be too charming when you were trying to get me. More of a suggestive tone and twisted or double meaning to words." Giving a soft laugh to that before blinking. "Hm, I hope that hasn't spread down too much to the younger generation." Followed by another soft laugh, it was fun to poke sometimes. And then she sobered herself, a finger hooking into her collar and playing the the bands and scrollwork of metal as he got the serious we need to talk about something look. "Good time indeed."

For a moment she seemed to be considering it, tapping the fingers of her other hand on the table as she rolled thoughts around in her head. Malik's invitation was no surprise, though since the last incident she really wasn't fond of him going near tournaments. "Teenagers, always wanting to do the things that as a parent make you worry about thier well being." Her fingers momentarily stopping thier drumming with a sigh as she looked to her husband with triple colored eyes. "My one restraint is knowing that the tournament is a free for all...there's no divison based on age or anything. If he signs up, there's going to be a lot of others there that are bigger and more skilled than him...and I know you, you'll want to get in on it too." She hated telling the boy no, and she seemed to always be the one doing it. But he was getting older and well, boys would be boys. "Okay...convince me why I shouldn't be the bad guy and tell him no."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:49 pm

"first, I'd be a surprise opponent. the terms of my entry in this version of the tournament is the highest ranking contestant gets to go at it with me for the title. second, all weapons are being inspected by both elven and human inspectors. that way, the incident we had won't be reappearing. Other than that...I'd say the only other reason I can think of would be exactly the reason your most against. he'll be facing virtually anyone willing to step up to the plate. which makes for good experience that's not life threatening, nor under my control."

tapping his fork lightly.

"I mean, if one of your servants hurt Malikhai more than mild bruising...they know they'd have to deal with me, and it wouldn't be pleasent. and if they lived through me, they'd have to deal with you. so that has to affect thier performance. tournament combatants won't have that perception. in fact, being a D'vinn, they may even try harder to put him down so they don't get one upped by the son of the elf that upped them last time."

"Hm, I'm starting to understand how my parents could be so exasperated with me at times." Shakin her head lightly again before her hand left the table and she tucked a few red and silver strands away from her face and behind her halved ear as she continued to listen to him trying to convince her and at the same time it seemed like he was trying to convince her to say no at the same time as well, though not as much as the former option. "Why do you have to be so good at making boys, I just know I'm going to be sitting here again in ten or so years, doing the same thing about Dhairiss." Tugging at her collar before dropping her hands to the table and clasping them with what Malik would recognize as one of those surrendering sighs of hers. "Let him enter." But oh if anyone tried to mangle and or cripple her son, they weren't going to be walking off the tournament grounds. See...she could say yes....even if she really didn't want to. Being a mother was hard...you worried all the time.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 11, 2007 10:05 pm

"I'll let him know what you said on it. and hey, not my fault I'm so boy productive."

though a shrug.

"I doubt it. he's his mother's son. if he does choose to enter, I imagine it'll be archery. he far more favors you in looks and in general attitude more than me."

A slight chuckle.

"well...maybe more like Kieran in looks. but I hope he's not that inquisitive and prone to exploring dangerous things."

"It is to your fault." Giving him a little loving smirk, one of thier many little pick back and forth moments in time. You had to fight in a marriage, even if it was play frivilous things that made no point to argue over anyway. "My mother drowned out the blue pigmentation in my own skin, and you brought it back out in our own children. It makes sense. He's quiet though, I don't think we have to worry too much about my father's streak of poking his nose into everything...or at least I hope so. Underdark isn't the best place to poke and there's more than enough case of runwaways on my side of the family, we don't need anymore." Shaking her head and giving a sigh again before giving a smile across the table to Malik. "See, I don't always say no to the potential dangerous things. Even if it involved swords that I have a tendency to be jealous and or competative with."

"My biggest thing will be what he will do if he does make it to the final match...and find me across the field from him. the look on his face will probably be priceless."

"Well, one of two things will happen...he'll either brace his sword for the challenge, or bow out without doing so. You may be his father and he may know that he shouldn't take sword against you, but he'll also know that it is a competition. Though yes you're right, it probably will be priceless. But A'mael do remember that he is indeed your son, don't pummel him too badly." Giving him a smile. "That is of course a large 'if' he gets up that high."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 13, 2007 6:29 pm

"I suppose I can understand that. Especially since you two have known each other for so long and your current system works so nicely. He does the racing and partying and you keep him slightly levelheaded. You seem to be the more reserved one." It was merely an observation based on what she knew of him and what she'd seen with her own eyes. "The tournament?" She shrugged, not knowing too much about it. "Don't mostly humans compete in it though?"

Zykariel poked his head out of the tavern, a female arm laced around his neck. He leaned down and whispered something in her ear, then sent her off to join her friends. Where was Malikhai at? Stepping out into the street, he scratched at his shoulder and gave a yawn. He was physically and mentally worn out. Spotting the couple a little way down, he sighed and thrust his hands in his pockets, meandering along. "There you are. I've been looking all over for you. Ready for home or do you want to stay here?" Nodding to Kaelin covertly.

She smiled at his words and nodded though he couldn't see it. He'd said the magic words. Her fingers traced through his hair and over his ears again then down to his shoulders and along his back where her fingers, naughty ones that they were, began drawing patterns. They continued in their forays until she had a nice big passion rune drawn on his back. Completing the final line, her energy poured out and it activated. "Now we can begin." Clutching him, she waited for the fireworks.

"Regardless of all of that, let's go to bed. You can talk to Malikhai later, let the boy get his rest as well. Dealing with what he has to deal with isn't easy." Thusly pulling Malik up from the table and leading him upstairs, taking a moment to check on children and make sure they were settled before heading off to bed themselves.

"Not theses days, more elves than humans right now. Well...mostly drow, and the humans who are still brave and tough enough to live down here. I think it would at least be somewhat of a challenge." Idly he wondered how late it was getting...he knew it had been a few hours at least. "Maybe you'll stop by and give me a cheer or two?" Before his attention turned to his friend whom came meandering along. A look to Kaelin, and then a look to Zykariel...well, she honestly really didn't want to be here so why keep her. "I'm sure Kaelin's friends are just waiting to chat her up, and you probably need a place to pass out. So let's head off." Turning to Kaelin, and giving her a shallow nod and bow of some chilvalry. "Nice to meet and talk to you Kaelin, maybe I'll see you around." Nodding finally again with a smile before going to his friend. "Alright, I'm good."

Hm, what was that she was doing? He knew what that was, recognized it...well almost. Okay, concentrate...she was pattern making...though she wans't a pattern maker. That was his thing, so she must be scribing then. Wait, scribing? That was rune thing...which meant she was runing...now what rune was it? He knew this one. The answer came to him at the moment the rune took effect, making his own desires surface especially with the lack of his vision and thus earsing his inhibitions since he couldn't see a juding look from anyone in the room. Which meant he was going to take control of this situation, and the wall looked like a good place to start.

Piper gave a groan as she came out of reverie, hand going to her throat, or more pointly her collar, tugging at it in uncomfortable fashion. Sure it had felt odd the day prior, but now it was more so...wasn't pleasant feeling or knowledge. Sitting up, she inspected the band of metal and designs with her fingers gently. Something definiately not right. A little hiss of pain as her finger caught in the back and she pulled it away to look at it, her fingertip bloody. Reaching back again she felt around some more...oh hell. It was broken? Something...it would account for the discomfort of late.

Getting herself up she pulled on her robe and walked to the closet, slipping on a pair of short boots and grabbing a thin leather belt as well. Leaving Malik still to his reverie she left the room and made her way downstairs and thus farther down to find Broog...she was not happy about this. Even if it made sense...a human lived only but so long, collars only had to last that long.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 13, 2007 7:17 pm

Broog was making jewelry as was his custom, at the moment with a big eyepiece stuck over his right eye and being far more delicate than one might think possible for his huge hands and physical strength. it was a project that Broog was very happy to be working on, and doing a fine job. graduation items for the students of the Vesandar schools. though his head lifted up when Piper came to him.

"Hallo Miztrez. wut can Broog dos for yous?"

Was nice to know the help was there when you needed them wasn't it? Especially when you had to tend to your own things where you weren't being run around on the schedules of children and business aspects. Turning her back to him, she pulled her hair over her shoulder to expose the back of her collar. "Collar, take it off." Do it before she though about it and had a chance to proceed to have a break down about it. Yes, still wrecked her beyond belief to think about that thing not on her person. Better to just have Broog take it and do whatever needed to be done with it before it started causing her problems...after all, children tugged on that thing too. Took a lot over the years especially with constant wear.
