I got a phone call at work this evening. Local news guy asking if he can interview me on my break ABOUT THIS* story that was in our local paper. I'm going to be on the news (Ch 13 at 10pm for those members who live in the Sacramento area) tonight. Guess I'm getting my 15 minutes of fame. heart
*tissue alert..what this kid did will make your eyes leak.
*edit...didn't think they'd put the story online, but they did. So kids, here's the lesson. When you're kind to people, it could be JUST the thing that changes everything.

Awwwww, that is such a sweet kid!!! Robynn, reading that just made me tear up. I'm so glad that kid helped you through your rough spot, even if he didn't even realize what he was doing. *glomps Robynn*
So, Nick Janes, the guy who did the interview, just friended me on FB, and told me the CBS sister station in LA picked up the store and so did CNN. Yes, CNN. It's 11pm and I just found out I'm on CNN. I have to be at work in 11 hours, and I don't see sleep happening in my near future. I'm so jacked up on adrenaline. This is a "woah dude" moment!
My best friend just found it on Huffington Post. Dude....

With all the bad news we're constantly bombarded with, it is so refreshing that this story is getting so much attention! Even more heartening is the hero of this story, Robynn's young knight in shining armor. I gives me renewed hope in the youth of this country and our future leaders. biggrin
Yeah, me too. He came by tonight, after I got home from work. He had some questions for me. He can't quite wrap his head around this whole thing. So I bought a subscription to the paper. smile I did a Google search of our two names. Yeah, it's blown up pretty big. Every major media place has grabbed it and run with it. A couple who was in town that weekend, also approached by Artem to buy the paper (they bought it) saw the story, wrote the news station, offering to pay for him and his parents that trip to Tahoe he's still trying to earn, all expenses paid, including lift tickets if they ski. So he's going to get a weekend there, whether he "wins" or not, because he's already won. THAT was what I was going for when I wrote the letter to the editor. Not any kind of fame for me, but to show the city (world) that there are still children out there we can entrust our future to.
And now on the infirmary. Today is day 4 of a 9 day stint. But after that, I get 5 days off in a row. I'll be ready for it!!!
