Victoria hung her head and bit her lip while following him. Oh, God, she thought. She looked up, imagining the whole zoo looking at her, but no body really was. Surprised and feeling somewhat better, she sat down next to Dante and glanced at the burger and fries he had ordered her. She looked up at Dante and stared at him, feeling rude. "I-I'm sorry. I couldn't afford the..." She broke off, wanting to break down in tears but holding it in for what felt like the millionth time that day. She took a deep breath and the feeling went away, but the dam was still there inside, and she knew it had a huge crack in it and was ready to flood at any time.

Dante listened to her. As soon as she quit during mid sentence he put his arm around her. "There's no need to apologize. Once you get to know me better you'll realize why I do and did these types of things today." he said as he grabbed a fry. He ate a few more before continuing after he swallowed, "I go out of my way for friends and people that I like. So you should take everything I do as a compliment." he continued eating the meal and encouraged Victoria to eat hers.

Victoria blushed lightly when he put his arm around her, but not wanting to make a big deal out of it, she sighed and picked up a fry. "I usually don't eat these type of things. They are very fattening and high in calories," She explained with a disgusted look at the fry. She glanced up at Dante, once again shy, and tried to make him feel better by eating it. Oh, Gross, she thought. She kept the expression off of her face with an Innocent smile, trying to make an surprised face. "That's actually very good," She said. She picked up another one and slowly bit off of it, like a cracker. She finally picked up her shake, tired of the fries, and quickly finished it. "Thank you." She finally whispered to him, thinking he was the most nicest boy she had ever met.

"You're welcome." Dante said as he finished his meal. "Not much of a fry person, eh? It's not for everyone." he said as he threw the garbage away. "Do you want something else before we continue? And don't lie to me." he said laughing a little. Dante saw a gift shop near by which would be to his benefit if he could sneak away for a few minutes, or if she was distracted with the other items. "So what would you like to do next? Gift shop?" he said as he stood there with his hands in his pockets.

She flushed beet red when she felt the feeling of having to...go. She smiled at him and glanced down at the cement. "Actually, I kind of have to use the restroom," She said quietly. "Do they have one in the gift shop?" She glanced up to see him staring at her, and her face grew worse in color.

((Sorry for the late reply. Damn college and what not))
"Yeah they have one there." Dante said as they rushed to the little store. Once he saw that Victoria was in the bathroom he sprung into action. He searched the store to find the perfect item. He saw a machine where you could pick a pre-made stuffed animal with cotton. He looked at the different options and he saw the perfect one. He picked up the soft cat shell and filled it with the right amount of cotton. The kids looked at him as if he wasn't allowed to use the machine but he didn't care. He took it up to the counter and grabbed a little gift tag. He wrote inside "From Dante. Hope you had fun today and like this gift." He also added his number with a note for her to call him soon. He paid for the cat and had it bagged before Victoria came out of the bathroom.

Aria sat at her counter eating the ramen noodles she had just prepared slowly.
"You only eat that slow when you're thinking Ari. What's up?" Kara said walking into the sectioned of kitchen space.
She was wrapped in the blanket that Aria had spread over her when she had passed out on the couch. At least she looked a little better...Well, she didn't looked sleep deprived anymore.
"Nothing. I'm fine."
"That's your 'I'm thinking about something serious but I shouldn't be thinking about it at all' voice. We're friends, I know you like the back of my hand. What's the matter?"
Aria stopped twirling the noodles and looked at her friend. Kara really hadn't changed at all. She might have been dressed a little differently, but she was still the best friend Aria knew.
"You're thinking about him aren't you?"
Kara's comment snapped Aria back to reality. Was it really so bad to be thinking about the past?
"Yeah." Aria replied, deciding not to lie.
"Don't." Kara coughed.
"How is he?"
"He's Veto."
"Kara, you know what I mean. I know you saw him."
"Yeah. So?"
"Nothing. Nevermind." Aria dropped it.

Victoria washed her hands as quickly as she could, not wanting to keep Dante waiting. She checked herself in the mirror one more time and sighed. Her hair was a mess, but there really wasn't anything she could do about it. She went out the door and walked around the small gift store, searching silently for Dante. I hope he had fun today, she thought miserably. But she doubted it.
((Nah, I understand completely. Your still trying to get around to your classes and trying to understand what's going on, etc. You take as much time as ya need. smile ))

Dante grabbed the bag off the counter and went to find Victoria. He spotted her searching, most likely for him, so he went over to her. "There you are." he said as he looked at the gift. He was thinking of when he would give it to her. He decided that it didn't matter when he did so, and he handed it to her. "So," he paused, "I got ya a little gift. I just felt as if it would be perfect so I got it." he said as he held it out to her. "Oh, and read the tag on it when we leave the zoo." he added.

She smiled hugely at him when she found him, and saw the gift in his hands, and wondered who it was for. Probably for one of his friends...what were their names? She felt bad that she couldn't even remember, but it didn't matter now. She looked down at the floor, wondering if they were already done with the fun sight-seeing, when she felt Dante give her something. She looked down at her hands and saw the same plastic wrapped item that he had gotten for someone earlier. Once he spoke, she then realized it was for her, and her whole face grew tomato red at the thought. "Oh. Um...You really didn't have to get me anything." She didn't look inside as she put it in her other hand, and glanced back up at him, the color worse in her face now, reaching to her neck. "Thank you so much. For everything." She blinked at him, knowing the tears were coming, but trying to hold them off as long as possible. She took a small breath and let out a cut off sigh, her voice shaking as she said, "I'm sure it is perfect, coming from you." Victoria gave him a small smile, and realized the tears were beginning to fall down her cheeks. She turned her face away from him quickly so he wouldn't see, and took another small breath in. "Thank you." She knew she had thanked him already, but she felt like the moment needed another. She heard him say something about reading a tag when they left the zoo, and she turned to face him, wiping the tears with her dirty shirt as quick as possible. "Oh. We have to leave?" Victoria's back slumped, kind of disappointed, but not wanting to be rude, she smiled again and nodded. "It was a wonderful day though. I appreciate everything you have done for me." Her grip tightened on the bag, and she blew out of her nose, and began walking away from him, knowing she had a long trip home.

Dante caught up with her and put his arm around her shoulders. "Who said we had to leave? The tag has no value right now, but it will later." he said as he walked with her. He saw a tear running down her cheek and wiped it with his thumb. "You know. Your different. In a good way that is." he paused. "There's something that's different compared to the people I know and I like that." He continued to walk with her and was thinking of the next thing to do. He didn't really come up with anything and he fumbled as he spoke. "So, what know?"

She smiled at him hugely, feeling so grateful to have him. "I don't care. As long as I do it with you." She felt a praise from his compliments, almost like she couldn't be happy until she was around him. She walked out of the gift office, happy that they got to stay longer.

Dante and Victoria walked around the zoo and looked at the magnificant animals. All the animals were active and it made the day enjoyable. They walked towards the gate that they came in at the beginning of the day. By now Dante was tired but he was used to it. There were parties to attned and people to relax with, but he wasn't sure what he wanted to do yet.
They walked out the gate and sat on a bench. While tieing his shoe he told Victoria, "You can read that note if you want.", and he sat back up. He put his hands in his pocket and sat back.

Victoria smiled at him, watched him tie his shoe, and sighed. "I had a great day today," She murmured happily, a kind of joy filling her insides. "How can one person be so kind?" She asked herself, glancing at him before looking back down at the bag he had gotten her. It was still held in a tight grip in her hand, and she had not opened it or read the card.
She stared at him for a few seconds before leaning forward and slowly moved aside the tag. She picked up the card and read the words one by one, a smile lighting her face and getting bigger with each word.
"From Dante. Hope you had fun today and like this gift."
She read farther and her ears turned red as she saw the 10 numbers written there. Why had he given her his phone number? She pondered this for a while before saying quietly, "Thank you. Of coarse I had fun."
She moved the wrapping paper beside and pulled out a stuffed cat shell. Tears filled her eyes as she glanced at him. "Thank you. I love it. You didn't have to spend money on me.." She trailed off as she turned it over and over in her hands. She truly did love it. She knew she would treasure it for years to come. Before she could back out, she leaned over and kissed his cheek, the gift held tight in her hands. "Thank you," She murmured again before putting the cat back in it's bag. She sighed and smiled at him before tying the bag back on her wrist. She was glad she had Dante as a friend.

"You're welcome." he said as she kissed his cheek. He sat there and took everything in. The day that he had with Victoria and thoughts about what's going to happen later on passed through his mind. "Yeah," he paused before continuing, "today was great. I had such a nice time." He sat there and thought before asking Victoria what was next.
